AC: I also want to thank my Beta-reader FollowerOfAnhamirak for his time on this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it.
Sarah took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself. She'd soon enter one of the biggest battles of her life. She had never once in her life tried to confront her parents like this.
She knew that she would ask a lot out of them. They still had trouble fully accepting the situation on Earth and the existence of the creatures and she couldn't count on her big brother to help her. This was her battle. Her and Peyton's too. She had to convince them to let her go and join her friends.
The Danians wondered if there was something wrong with her. They thought she was acting a little too dramatic over her current situation. From their point of view, it wasn't a death or life situation.
Ario grumbled, "This is ridiculous."
Gathup turned to Peyton and asked, "What do you know about her parents?"
"Her parents are nice, but they can be strict. You didn't really see that yet. She will have a lot of trouble convincing them to let her go with us to join Tom and Kaz," Peyton answered. He chuckled nervously, "We did something silly once together and she was in big trouble. She was grounded for a month before we went to a concert together when they told her no last year."
"She will have to respect their wishes if they say no," the green Mipedian raised his arms.
Wamma grumbled, "But the M'arrillians will come here eventually. We have to stick together."
Odu-Bathax nodded negatively, "We know nothing of how the Cothica functions. I have no idea what is right or wrong here. I mean, I didn't know how many humans are around and don't know about us."
"We know nothing of their world," Gathup replied.
Sarah slapped her hands, "Okay. I think I'm ready. I really need to tell them everything."
"I'll come with you Sarah," Peyton said, giving his support.
"We have to be with you," Ario sighed. He knew he was about to witness some family drama. He didn't want to see that.
"I can't back down. I can't leave them on their own," she decided. She walked towards her home.
Judy watched the six leaving the backyard and chuckled, "Good luck."
Chapter 88: Sarah Vs Her Parents
Sarah and Peyton reached the house, stopping at the entrance.
The girl took a deep breath, "Okay. The easy part is done. Now…the hard one. Get inside the house, find my parents and tell them that I want to go to the farm and find my friends."
"Feels like you are about to fight someone Sarah," Peyton told her.
"I got that impression," Ario grumbled, invisible and near them.
"Yeah. You don't deal with my parents or end up in an argument. I'm just thankful they aren't lawyers or it would have been much harder," she replied.
She opened the door and went inside, "Mom. Dad. I'm home!"
"They are not here," her brother replied as he came towards them.
A Caucasian man with short brown hair and brown eyes walked into the room. He wore a red t-shirt and blue pants. He was drinking his soda and asked, "Hey Peyton. What are you doing here?"
"I came with them to Alex," he replied.
"Good to know. The Danians just showed up in the backyard," Alex let them inside, leaving the door open.
"We will go around," Gathup told him.
"No problem," the man closed the door, "Knew you were coming when Odu and Wamma jumped over the fence," he let out a smirk.
"This house is the biggest I've seen around this town," Ario commented.
"My parents make a lot of money. Are they home?" Sarah asked her brother.
"Not yet. They'll be back soon from the grocery store. Wamma is costly," Alex chuckled as they went to the back. The man seriously asked, "What's going on anyway? You are nervous and a little sweaty."
Sarah took a deep breath, maybe talking to her brother first will help, "I have to ask something from mom and dad."
"And they aren't going to like it? Is it like the puppy?"
"No. It's not like the puppy."
"Then it's something about the creatures," Alex concluded.
"Yeah. I need to ask them if I can find Tom and Kaz," Sarah admitted.
Her brother was quiet and turned towards Peyton.
"As she said. We can't just let our friends in this mess," he replied.
Alex sighed and put his hands on his forehead, "I guess I have to be responsible until they are back Sarah. You know putting your life in the line like that is dangerous and downright crazy."
"I just can't stay here and do nothing," she replied, crossing her arms, "I am worried for them. The M'arrillians can find them and capture them. They might get here and get us anyway."
"I know, but we cannot just go to trouble. Yeah, we can take a detour, but mom and dad won't say yes to this," the man concluded.
"I guess you have no chance against your parents Sarah," Odu-Bathax replied as he approached them.
"That's probably right Odu," he slapped the abs of the blue Danian.
"Stop doing that! My name is Odu-Bathax!" the Danian waved his arms furiously.
Alex simply grinned as he rested against the wall of the house, "Sarah. I know why you want to join them, but this isn't something we can afford to do."
"What if my dad can transport the Danians? He is a truck driver," Peyton suggested.
"Guess you can try that," he replied. He could see the stress was getting to his sister, "I have to admit Sarah, joining the others is the best idea. Four creatures against an army of M'arrillians is worse than eight against them. Still very few of them, but we double the creatures," he let out a small smile, "Unless it would kill you, I won't try to stop you. Don't count on me helping you convince them. I don't think I'm cut out for this."
"Thanks," she didn't resent him. It was her against her parents.
Wamma put his hand on her shoulder, "We are with you Sarah. No matter what."
"Thanks," she replied. Turning around she noticed her parents returned and gulped.
"Just give them time to put back the groceries. I'll bring them here," her brother replied.
At that moment Sarah was nervous and all she wanted to do was run away. That ended after a few minutes when her parents came in. No going back now.
"You wanted to talk to us?" her father asked as he gazed suspiciously at the four creatures.
Her father was a Caucasian man with brown hair and brown eyes and wore a black shirt with blue pants. His name was Jeff.
Her mother was a Caucasian woman with long blond hair and green eyes and wore a long white blue dress. Her name was Pamela.
Sarah braced herself, "Yes. It's about what is going on with the M'arrillians coming to invade the Earth."
"We already told you there was nothing else to say about it," Jeff replied.
"We just need to stay away from them and avoid trouble. We have to let the military do their job," Pamela added.
"They can't. They'll be mind-controlled by them," she replied.
"Please. You think they can control people's minds like that?" her father rolled his eyes at that.
"Clearly you never got your mind controlled, that's for sure," Ario grunted as he crossed his arms.
"I had my mind controlled by them for a moment. You can't just think they can't when I've experienced it in Perim," she countered with annoyance. She knew her parents wouldn't be convinced easily.
They were about to reply when Wamma asked, "Do you want to get your mind controlled to believe her? You own daughters?"
"She told us nothing about going to your world and putting herself in danger," Pamela replied.
"You wouldn't believe me anyway! You would have to play the game seriously to go there with your codes and your true self still on Earth," she replied.
"Calm down Sarah. Take a deep breath," Peyton reminded her.
She did so.
Jeff's expression softened a little, "You're right," he knew he had to take a leap of faith in this. Still, it was one of the first times in a while his daughter had opened up, "Fine. We will go as if they can."
"Jeff," his wife asked uncertainly. She saw the same thing.
"It's okay. Anyway, what did you want to talk about?"
Sarah knew her father opened her mind. The two Danians were behind her, as if they were ready to provide support. Peyton was on the side and gave thumbs up with the two Mipedians waiting to see what would come next.
"Don't make them wait Sarah," Odu-Bathax ordered.
"Fine. Anyway, you know I'm really worried for my friends Tom and Kaz. They had to leave the city and escape the M'arrillians. They are currently hiding at Tom's grand-parents farm," Sarah called every bit of courage she had to tell them what she wanted to do. She looked her parents right in the eye. She felt the hand of her best friend on her shoulder while Wamma was behind her, obviously ready to give her moral support, "I want to go and be with them."
"You cannot go there," her father immediately replied. He was a little angry about it, but didn't explode as the teenage girl feared.
"Why?"
Pamela answered, "Because it is dangerous. Those M'arrillians are around there and they are after you and them."
"We don't know how long before they decide to come here. There are a few roads that bring them directly from Summer Vale to our town. They can find us and get to us," Sarah countered.
"And the answer is still no Sarah. We will not let you put your life in danger because you want to be with your friends. Besides, we have no way to bring the Danians with us. They are heavier than our cars," her father said, raising his voice.
She looked down as she tried to find a way to change their mind. She knew she hit a wall and that it would be difficult to destroy that wall. She decided to stay calm. It was hard to do though, as her breathing accelerated a little. She closed her eyes for a few seconds, "If they get to my friends and they read their minds, they will know we live here anyway. The M'arrillians want to control the world anyway. No matter where we are going, where we are, they are going to find us. The only way would be to hide in Antarctica."
"Sarah. We will not let you go there so you can be with your friends," his father grunted.
The two continued to argue against each other. They gave their arguments and none of them backed down. None of them were ready to accept they might be wrong or the other was right. Sarah's face turned a little redder as frustration increased in her heart. It was the same with her father who refused in order to protect his daughter.
The four creatures and the three other humans looked at each other. They knew they shouldn't be there in their arguments. They wondered if they should just back away.
Jeff realized it was going nowhere. Something in his mind clicked. A small memory from before, something similar with his own father.
Once he was aware of it, his anger and frustration went away. He knew it was getting nowhere. He knew it was as if he argued against himself. He put his hands on her shoulders, "Sarah. We don't want you to be in danger. We don't want you to get hurt by them. We- We know they are dangerous, but what would we think if you get hurt because you went away. It will be our fault for hurting you. I… I don't want to put you in danger. We won't put you in danger," he gently looked at her in her eyes.
Sarah was lost when her father honestly told her what he thought of it, "Dad… I just can't stop thinking about them. I feel like I'm leaving them on their own when I can help them."
Her big brother said, "I can come with her if you are that worried dad."
Pamela saw where this would go if they forbade her, "Jeff. I think you know what she would do, right?"
"Yeah. It's clear," the man gave in, "Still, you will not go alone or with your big brother only. As I said, I would never forgive myself if you get hurt. Your mother too," he looked at her, "We won't let you go there on your own."
"So, you are going there with us?" Peyton asked.
"If it is possible," the man sighed. His argument with Sarah took out a lot of energy. He wanted the day to end.
"We have a way," Peyton declared as he put his thumb on his chest.
As the day slowly came to an end, the boy explained the way they could bring the heavy creatures to reach the farm.
AC: This is the end of this chapter. And you met Alex, he was a main Character in Chaotic: Creatures In The Human World. Since I won't finish that story, he has been moved in this story as Sarah big brother with some differences.
Next: First Try.
On Perim, the creatures who could fly went down to check what was under the clouds for the expedition, realizing there was a problem.
