Eren's eyes snapped open as his body jerked up into a sitting position. His eyes were taking in everything they could see.

"Oh, Eren, you are up."

Whipping his head around, he saw Reiner and Bertholdt resting to his immediate left. Only to feel pain flare in his arms, drawing his gaze down to them to see steaming stumps that ended above where his elbows should be.

"Look, I am in the same state."

Turning his head to his right, he saw Ymir sitting casually near him. Mumbling about not having arms, he lifted his head when Reiner spoke.

"Oh, sorry I did that," Reiner explained. "I was in a hurry, and when I bit into your neck to remove you, I missed both your arms in the process."

Realization dawned on Eren that he lost and stated so. Only to hear a soft groan. A groan, he had come to know well over the past weeks and months. His eyes went wide as he let his gaze drop to where the sound came from to see a thoroughly bound Kagome on her back to his left. The look of discomfort on her otherwise relaxed face let him know that she was still out cold.

Instinct kicking in, his first thought was to get Kagome out of there, he lifted a stump of an arm to bite it. His teeth inches from the steaming flesh when Ymir stopped him and pointed down and explaining the situation to him. Narrowing his eyes, Eren glared at Reiner and Bertholdt. People he thought were his friends and comrades in the war against the Titans. But after being called out to the wall, along with Ymir and Kagome. Both had revealed, respectively; they were the Colossal and Armored Titans.

He knew after the tower incident and Ymir being hurt, that she too was a titan, albeit a small one. Anger bubbling in him as he looked at Reiner, listening silently as he explained a bit about becoming a titan. It had him wondering silently why they had kidnapped him, Ymir and Kagome. Especially Kagome.

His body stiffening as Ymir demanded of the two to explain what they wanted with them.

"You two and Kagome are coming with us to our home town. And it would be wise not to give us any trouble," Reiner stated.

The slight bickering banter and taunting between Ymir and Reiner faded to the side as Eren dropped his gaze to Kagome, who he saw had her eyes cracked and was looking at him. The message clear, even with her eyes barely open, to not bring notice to her being awake. This was a lose-lose situation.

"I can understand to a point why you would kidnap Ymir and myself, but why did you kidnap Kagome?" He asked, suddenly causing silence to fall between them all.

He lifted his head and looked pointedly at Reiner, then Bertholdt. He was waiting for an answer. One that he felt Kagome deserved to know.

She was very uncomfortable laying there on what she figured from the little she allowed herself to see was a large tree branch. Her head rang, and her neck was stiff. Proof that she had been knocked out by a nice hard chop to the back of her neck. Not the first, and she was sure (with her luck) not the last. But she slowed her breathing even further at hearing Eren's question. She had been called out to the wall by a note. And upon seeing that Eren's cell was empty, began to wonder if he had been called out as well.

She was colored surprise to see the barely healed Ymir as well. Her arm partially healed. Of course, like with Anne, Bertholdt, and Reiner, she knew Ymir was a titan based on the feeling she got from the girl after being in the same room as her for a few minutes after they had returned.

"Eight years ago, our leader had wandered into that Titan Forest that Kagome was found in. He had told all of us in our home town, the tale of the strange human woman who lived there with a two-tail cat. There was no mention of her adopted son, so I am assuming that she adopted the boy after our leader met her," Reiner explained. "He said that she gave off an odd vibe and was able to repel the Titans without the use of Vertical Movement Gear. To say he had become a bit obsessed was an understatement. So, when Bertholdt and I got our mission, we were given a submission to find her if we could. Because our leader has gone back to that forest several times to try and find that woman with the raven locks and midnight blue eyes to acquire her."

She barely stopped herself from taking a sharp breath. Her mind was reeling. There had only been a handful of people she had helped over the years. But eight years ago, she was still new to this world. And that man was someone she would never forget. He had left her skin crawling and gave off a darker sensation than the youngsters around her. That and how he watched her set off all the warning bells she had learned to listen to while in the Feudal Era of Japan.

Staying still, though, she could feel her arms going numb. Wiggling her fingers to try and keep the blood flowing, Kagome was not too surprised that when they had tied her hands behind her back, that it was done lattice style up to her elbows. Meaning she couldn't dislocate her shoulders to slide her legs through so she could have them in front. Her legs were bound as well. But soon, the conversation took an odd turn, making her pay attention to it again.

When Ymir broke things down, taunting Reiner, who seemed to be split between his two identities, she felt a pang of sympathy. But not enough to not fucking try and fry his ass the first chance she got. Young or not, he had crossed a line. To stiffen when Eren went on an emotional tirade — calling the two murders.

Which necessarily they were, there was no denying it. Sad as that was. Kagome began to take deeper breaths, forcing her body to relax and hope that Eren would sit his ass back down. Glad for Ymir when she spoke up, before biting back a groan. Her topic of choice was a good one, but she could tell from the feel of the two's aurae jumping dangerously that the Beast Titan was not one to be broached, getting a plethora of information before Eren changed the topic after being told off again.

"What is going to happen to us when we reach your village?"

This was important.

"Well, that depends on some factors. There is a high chance that both of you will be killed and your flesh fed to someone else to gain your Titan powers," Reiner spat.

Silence followed before what she wanted to know and yet not.

"And Kagome?"

Again there was a small length of silence before Bertholdt spoke up. "She will probably be experimented on. She gives off a strange feeling and can repel Titans. Never in the history of our town is something like that recorded.

Again there was silence, before Reiner spoke, "And if that ability is found to be genetic, she will be given to someone chosen by the leader and bred. Possibly by multiple strong warriors. She is fairly easy on the eyes, and her temperament is sweet, motherly, and passive... Unless you are Captain Levi. He seems to have a knack for pissing her off."

Cold washed through her body as her eyes shot open wide. His words caused her past, the things that had given her nightmares washed through her mind like a freezing torrent. Unable to stop herself as she began to struggle to breathe as her mind pulled up memories of the Thunder brothers, the crazed poison man from the band of seven. She didn't want to live through that again. Not ever.

Eren heard a choked whimper come from his feet. And as he dropped his gaze, he noticed that Reiner and Bertholdt had looked down as well. What he saw made him recalling the story that she told. Realizing what was triggering the apparent panic attack as he heard, Kagome began to mumble not again, never again over and over.

"Oh, I guess she was awake and heard," Reiner said, his voice showing no remorse at all.

Crouching down, Eren sat next to her. The sun was low on the horizon. There was less than an hour left until nightfall. His concern was now Kagome.

"Why is she panicking?"

At Ymir's question, he stiffened. He didn't feel it was right to explain something that was told in secret. That and he knew she hadn't been kidding that they couldn't talk about it either. Armin had tried to broach the topic one night with Mikasa and himself only to find his voice had left him until he stopped trying to talk about it. Same with writing it down, body locked up and didn't respond.

"Maybe she hid in that forest to avoid her fellow humans because they tried to harm her? That it came to light that she was different, and others wanted to use her as a tool?" he snapped completely understanding and sympathizing with her.

He could feel the tingling roll across his skin, letting him know that Kagome wasn't keeping her power in check. That she could kill them (albeit by accident) if she lost complete control.

"Shh, Kagome. Try to take deep breaths in through your nose and exhale through your mouth," He told her in a soft, soothing voice. Wanting her to calm down.

Hearing Ymir shift behind him, Eren kept his eyes locked on Kagome as he began to breathe in the same manner he instructed her to. But he realized that it was too late. He had a small immunity (he guessed) due to being proximity to her all the time since they'd first stumbled on her.

"What is that? My flesh is tingling!"

At Ymir's exclamation, Eren closed his eyes and leaned over Kagome to shield her with his body. Biting back a hiss of pain as her power burned at him. But it was too late; he was jerked away from Kagome, whose eyes now took on that silver-lilac glow — revealing her to the others. To have a low hiss of anger come from Reiner, who was gripping his shoulder. Deciding it was now or never, Eren stood up and snapped his head back and feeling it connect with Reiners' face.

"I would rather die than let you condemn her to a life as nothing more than a slave used for the purposes you stated," he snapped as he thrust stumps down, which were almost to his wrist.

Body moving sluggishly as he tried to keep Reiner away, hoping that Ymir would keep Bertholdt away. But that was not the case as Ymir, not liking the feeling Kagome gave her, helped knock him down as the Titans underneath them began to get restless and push at the tree, causing it to sway a little.

As he laid there under Reiner's and Ymir's knees, Eren looked at Kagome, who was openly crying as her eyes glowed brighter now that the sunset.

"What is with the Titans? Why are they so active?" Ymir asked

"You think it is due to Eren, Reiner? Or that strange energy Kagome is admitting?" Bertholdt asked, ignoring Ymir.

"It could be either. But that isn't our only problem, look!" Reiner replied.

With how they had him pinned, Eren slowly turned his head and saw something that gave him hope, the Survey Corps though he heard Ymir hiss under her breath, clearly not happy at seeing one, in particular, Krista. Plastering a smile on his face, he turned back to look at Kagome. Who had rolled onto her side and was looking at him with glowing eyes that now had a swirl pattern in their depths? The usual dark blue mixed in as her mouth opened. He was ready to hear what she said when her head snapped forward, and she sank her teeth into his still reforming arm.

Pain lanced through him as her Reiki burned his flesh, lighting up his nerves. Then the pain was gone, and the world was doing that odd shift it did when he changed into a Titan. He faintly heard the yells from the others. He felt Reiner and Ymir be tossed from his body as it grew. His mind was barely registering that he felt no pain or exhaustion as he moved his arm, throwing Kagome away from him instinctually. The sight of her smiling as she began to free fall to the ground below had panic welling up in him as the sound of Reiner's, and Bertholdt's Vertical Maneuvering Gear was set in motion.

Spinning and jumping from the branch, he kept saw that Ymir had changed back to her small Titan form and was heading towards the oncoming group. Feeling torn, Eren found Kagome as she continued her plummet to the ground. Grabbing a branch and using it to swing his body towards her, he scooped her up and let him hit the ground and causing it small quake to happen as he carefully set her down in a small niche in the roots of the tree. Her power once more, burning his flesh and making his instincts want to kill the threat.

Not hesitating, Eren turned and ran through the woods, knocking down the Titans that were more active than they should be after sunset out of his way. His eyes were taking in everything with a clarity that was scary as he saw Ymir swallow Krista. Howling loudly in anger, he rushed her before she could get very far. He would rescue Krista and get back to the city safe and sound.

They knew they have five hours in which to get Eren, Ymir, and Kagome back safely. Levi knew this as fact. But what he couldn't seem to understand is why they would take Kagome? She had done nothing to warrant gaining their attention. Though he was pissed, he had three more Titans in his unit, and the damn girl had said nothing. Reminding him, she had not spoken up about Anne either.

Once they had spotted the small group, he noticed that two were pinning down what he assumed was Eren. Giving the command as time was short and the Titans were (again) being overly active now that the sun had set was concerning. He kept his senses alert and scanned for the Beast Titan from the other night. Not seeing it, he heard Armin shout that Ymir was helping Reiner and Bertholdt just as he saw Eren clock Ymir as she tried to get around him.

"Keep close, don't let them get away!" He shouted as he scanned again to see if he could spot Kagome.

Cursing under his breath when he didn't see her, he focused on the issue at hand. There before him, Reiner had turned back into a Titan and had Ymir and Bertholdt on his back and was running away from them. Narrowing his eyes, he couldn't tell if Kagome was in one of those fists. If she was, then why wasn't she using her Reiki to get free or repel Reiner? Could it be that she was unconscious? If so, that was both a blessing and a curse.

Soon he saw Eren chasing them, roaring that he wouldn't let them getaway. While Reiner seemed just to be barreling through the gathered Titans as if they were nothing until they broke through the edge of the forest to the area behind. His eyes were catching the movement of the mounted troops. It looked like hell on earth as the battle ensued.

Mentally he sorted through stuff and gave orders in a loud, sharp voice. Watching as those mounted on horses regrouped and attacked. Eren in the thick of it swinging and fighting for all he was worth. Then it happened. A shout rang out over the sounds of the battle happening on the hill, and it was as if time was in slow motion. There Erwin was swinging by his arm from a Titans' mouth, and then time began to move at normal speed again.

A loud howl rang out, and steam covered the field. As it cleared, Levi heard Eren scream. Calling the gathered Titans bastards and to stay away. What happened next would have to be scrutinized as the steam disappeared, and all the Titans present had stopped moving where they stood and laid, obeying as Eren stood before Mikasa as if protecting her. Taking a look to the side, he saw that even the Armored Titan, Reiner, was not moving. The look on his face was shock and horror.

Armin looked around as they re-entered the forest. Eren had told them that he had no clue why they had stopped when he shouted. But he immediately changed the topic and said that he had left Kagome hidden in the roots of the tree they'd been, and they needed to get her. Time was short and precious as they didn't know how long they had before the Titan's would start to move and chase them. And they had wounded that they needed to get back to the city and treated. It was a heavy blow to them all that Commander Erwin lost his arm.

Slowing down and dropping to the ground as he retracted his Vertical Maneuver Gear, Armin started looking for Kagome. He was worried about the sweet woman. She had been through enough and when Eren had been questioned about why Kagome had been taken along with him and Ymir, who was now a traitor, joining with Reiner and Bertholdt. His friend had gotten a grim look on his face and said nothing even when the Captain had commanded him.

Ducking under an upraised part of a root, Armin heard a soft sob. He recognized that particular type of weeping. Picking up his pace, he moved around a few more raised roots and found Kagome on the ground, trussed up like a bird. It was hard to see her face in what little light there was since she had it tucked down to her chest and into the ground. Being careful, he made his way towards him as he heard the sound of footsteps behind him.

As he got closer, he saw Kagome shift and turn her head and look at him. The moment her eyes landed on him, he went still. Even in what little light there was, he could make out the fear etched on her flushed face as she began to whimper in earnest and try to move away from him. Which was impressive with how she was tied up.

"Kagome?" he asked in a whisper. "It's me, Armin. I am here to help you."

The way she just whimpered louder as he took only a single step towards her was heart-wrenching. He knew something had to have happened, something terrible to make her react like this. Armin had heard the story of her past that she had been through hell and back again. Figuratively and literally. But in the eight or so hours since her kidnapping, he couldn't figure out what Reiner or Bertholdt would do to make her frightened to this level.

"Don't take another step toward her. You will only make the situation worse."

Stiffening and looking over his shoulder, he saw Captain Levi. The look on Levi's face had Armin nodding and stepping slowly away from Kagome.

"Mikasa, you go to her and get her. Unbind her legs so she can ride a horse with either you or Krista," Levi commanded. "Eren, you will come with me and give a complete report to Commander Erwin and me now."

Armin was unsure of what to do, so when Mikasa walked past him, he decided that it would be prudent to follow after Eren and the Captain. Figuring he would rather hear what Eren was going to tell them, even by force, as to what happened. He rather liked Kagome, saw her as a big sister that he never had. She had a way that just made you calm and happy.
