:: Chapter 8: Complications::
(Later That Morning)
::CRACK::
'Something's happened.' Yumiko worriedly thought, noticing the tension his friend was holding as she swung the bat with more force than usual.
::CRACK::
Noticing the lights were blinking signaling the end of her session, Yumiko watched her swing the bat at the last pitch, successfully striking the ball.
::CRACK::
Patiently waiting for his friend to gather her gear, he glanced over at the batting cage next to hers where Seiya was making successful strikes against the balls, loud 'cracks' filling the air with each hit. "We may need to talk him into tryouts." He chuckled, then frowned when his friend didn't respond to his comment. "I'm glad you were able to make it, I was getting worried." He stated instead, watching her snap from her thoughts before looking over at him.
"I'm sorry again we were running late, Yumiko-chan, I had to take care of something." Usagi apologized, as she walked next to the young man.
"It's alright, I knew you would call me if something was up or if you needed me." Yumiko responded as they walked towards a row of benches. "He's only missed two pitches, it's quite impressive." He stated with an amused chuckle.
"He's still as good as I remember." Usagi proudly stated, glancing back and smiling as her boyfriend continued to successfully strike each ball. Noticing the light in Seiya's cage began to blink indicating the final round of pitches, she turned her attention forward knowing her time to speak with Yumiko was limited.
Taking advantage of their time alone, Yumiko quickly took his friend by the hand leading her towards a bench. Sitting down on the empty bench, he watched Usagi quietly sit next to him and look up at him giving him her full attention. "I need to know if-"
"I'm going with you." Usagi abruptly interrupted, smiling at the stunned look of surprise on her friend's face. "I- I'm just trying to find the right way to tell the others." She said, briefly looking over at Seiya still unsure of how she was going to break the news to him. "They still don't trust you, and I don't know what to say or do to gain that trust." She said with a nervous exhale.
"Give them time, Usagi-chan." Yumiko responded, taking her hand and placing a gentle kiss on the back of her hand. "Thank you for accepting this honor, and allowing me to serve you, my friend." He happily stated, looking forward to showing his friend his homeworld. "You'll love it on my planet, it's like Earth, only more- well, you'll see." He chuckled unsure how to describe his Kingdom to his friend. "Have you told your Guardians of your decision?"
"No." Usagi softly stated, tears shining in her eyes as she averted her gaze. "I'm not going to tell them."
"What?" Yumiko asked, shocked by her confession. "Why not?"
"If I tell them, they will do everything they can to stop me." Usagi explained, tearfully looking up at her friend. "If they don't, then they'll try to come after me to bring me back." Drawing in a deep breath, she softly exhaled before she continued. "I just want to disappear, Yumiko-chan. I've messed up everything already, Crystal Toko is gone, my-" She said, pausing a moment, her voice beginning to waver. "My daughter is no longer going to be born." She painfully confessed, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
"Look at me, my friend." Yumiko insisted, watching Usagi tearfully look up at him. "You need to give them closure. You can't leave without telling them you're leaving. If you just vanish, this could make things much worse." He insisted, watching her tearfully nod her head in understanding. "I need to meet you tonight. There's so much more I need to tell you before you speak with the others." Noticing Seiya gathering his things in preparation to leave the batting cage, he knew he had to hurry not having much opportunity to speak with his friend with Seiya accompanying them. "Will you meet me tonight?"
"Of course." Usagi softly stated, nodding her head. "Where do you want to meet?"
"The Starlight Tower." Yumiko requested, as he released his hold on her standing and lifted his bag from the ground when he sensed Seiya approaching them. "I'll message you more details." He said, watching Usagi turn and take notice of Seiya walking towards them.
Nodding her head, Usagi smiled as she lifted her bag from the ground, turning her full attention on Seiya, smiling in mirth before she spoke. "You missed two pitches, you need more practice?" She teased, as Seiya smirked at her comment, his arms wrapping around her waist drawing her against him.
"It's been a while, my shoulders are going to be protesting later." Seiya chuckled, before gently pressing his lips against hers. "You were amazing, I-" Frowning as his phone began to ring, he reached into his jacket pocket removing his cell phone.
"Who is it?" Usagi curiously asked, noticing his brows furrowed in concern, looking up at her before he responded.
"It's Taiki-chan." Seiya responded, wondering why his stomach was suddenly knotting with apprehension as he answered the phone. "Hello?"
Running down the path of the park, Seiya could see the desperate and panicked look on Taiki's face as he continued his search unaware of his arrival in his focus of searching. Noticing Yaten was a distance away looking and calling out for their Princess, Seiya turned his focus forwards to see Taiki rushing forwards, having taken notice of his arrival.
"Where is she?" Seiya angrily demanded, looking at his brother in disbelief. "How could both of you lose her?"
"Yaten-chan went to go to the restroom, I was the one who was watching her." Taiki guiltily admitted, shame in his eyes. "She was playing in the tunnel." He explained, motioning towards the bright red tunnel placed near the swings. "I watched her go into the tunnel, I looked away for a brief moment and she was gone."
"She couldn't have just disappeared!" Seiya angrily shouted, not caring how upset his brother was becoming in his guilt and remorse. "Dammit, Taiki-chan!" He shouted, letting his anger rise. "She's our responsibility now, we have to-"
"I swear, I just looked down for a brief moment!" Taiki shouted back, tears shining in his eyes. "If anything happens to her I will never for-"
"I can't find her." Yaten breathlessly stated as he stopped to join his brothers. "I don't understand, how could she just vanish?" He stated in his frustration, turning his gaze towards the parking lot to see Usagi and Yumiko were walking forwards, both talking amongst one another.
"Now isn't the time for whose to blame." Usagi commanded as soon as she reached the three, knowing she needed to take over since they were busy trying to place blame instead of focusing on the search for their missing Princess. "There's five of us, we can split up and cover more ground if we do this." She began, turning her attention towards the brunette who was closest to her. "Taiki-chan, you stay here at the playground in case she returns." She instructed, watching him nod.
"I'm going to stay near the parking lot, she could be hiding amongst the vehicles." Yumiko volunteered, watching his friend turn and nod her head, knowing they'd already privately discussed that he would use the cover of the vehicles to teleport throughout the park and transport the child safely to Usagi if he were to find Kikyo amongst his search throughout the park.
"Thank you, Yumiko-chan." Usagi responded as her friend turned and started his search towards the parking lot. "Yaten-chan, I need you to take the eastern path towards the bike trails, Seiya-chan you can take the western path towards the picnic areas, and I'll take the southern path that leads to the pond and gardens. If anyone finds her, we'll send a text or call, so we know the search is over." She instructed, not allowing room for arguments as she turned and ran in the direction of her assigned path.
"What are you waiting for, go!" Seiya angrily snapped as he quickly went in the direction of his path.
"It's going to be alright, Taiki-chan, we're going to find her." Yaten assured his brother, resting his hand on Taiki's shoulder to offer him some comfort before turning and going in the direction of his path Usagi had assigned him.
Watching his brothers and Usagi running down their separate paths, Taiki nervously exhaled hoping their Princess was safe and unharmed. 'Please be alright Princess Kikyo-sama.' He desperately thought. 'I'll never forgive myself if anything were to happen to you.'
Running along the bike trails, Yaten cursed as another bicyclist swiftly sped around him narrowly knocking him off the path. "Watch where you're going!" He shouted, glaring at the cyclist. Stopping his steps, he scanned the area hoping to spot the child amongst the paths. "Kikyo-sama!" He called out, glancing around the open area.
Spotting a small dirt path hidden amongst a thicket of trees and bushes, he deviated from the path he was on, swiftly running towards the dirt path, in hopes his small Princess may have followed the trail. "Kikyo-sama!" He called out once again.
Not seeing any signs of the path being disturbed by footsteps, he softly exhaled in worry and frustration. "Where are you?" He worriedly muttered as tears shone in his eyes. 'We have to find her, we have to keep her safe.' He desperately thought. 'She's all we have left of Kakyuu-sama.'
Abruptly turning as the echo of a loud 'boom' of two energies colliding with one another shook from above, Yaten stood in stunned silence, patiently listening and scanning the area hoping to figure out which path the attack had originated.
Growing impatient as nothing more happened, he felt his apprehension grow more with each silent moment passing. "What direction did it come from?" He worriedly asked aloud, trying to pinpoint the direction of the colossal 'boom'. "Dammit, I'm too far to tell." He cursed deciding he needed to act as he carefully looked around to see if anyone was around him or the path. Not seeing anyone, he removed his brooch from his jacket pocket, raising the brooch as he called out his transformation.
"Healer Star Power, Make Up!"
'If anything happens to her.' Seiya angrily thought, tears shining in his eyes as he looked amongst the families who were at the picnic pavilions, his hope of finding the child amongst the other children diminishing when he did not see his Princess. "Kikyo-sama!" He called out, as he continued to walk through the picnic area surveying the wooded area as he continued his search.
Noticing some younger children playing in the distance, he hurried his steps wondering if she could be playing amongst them. Growing closer to the group of children, he frowned in disappointment when his Princess was not present amongst the small children at play. 'Where are you?' He worriedly thought. 'You have to be alright, you're all that we have left. We swore we would always keep you safe.' He desperately thought, his fear causing his stomach to painfully twist.
Abruptly turning at the sound of a loud explosion of powers colliding, he felt his stomach twist with apprehension as he quickly ran the direction of the sounds. 'I've got to find somewhere to transform.' He thought, realizing the enemy was somewhere in the park. Spotting a small secluded path, he ran forwards to conceal himself amongst the overgrown path to transform.
Running down the path, he ducked down behind a thicket of bushes glancing around the area before removing his brooch from his pocket. "The enemy is here, they must have Kikyo-sama." He stated in anger, knowing he would make them pay if they harmed his Princess. Raising his brooch, he shouted his transformation, hoping his Princess was safe amongst the fight that was occurring in the distance.
"Fighter Star Power, Make Up!"
Pressing her hand against the headset, Sailor Star Fighter called out to her sisters wanting to locate their position and see which one was currently facing the enemy. "Fighter here, Healer are you there?" She called out, easing as Sailor Star Healer immediately responded.
"Healer here, the attack isn't in my location." Sailor Star Healer acknowledged as she averted her direction from Sailor Star Fighter's location going in the direction Taiki had been assigned. "Have you heard from Sailor Star Maker?" She worriedly asked.
"Maker, are you there?" Sailor Star Fighter asked as she ran in the direction of Taiki's path. "Maker, check-in, if you're there." She instructed, her stomach nervously twisting under the intense silence. "We need to hurry, Healer, she may be already facing the enemy." She urged.
"I'm already going in that direction, I'll be there shortly!" Sailor Star Healer assured Sailor Star Fighter as she pushed herself to run faster.
"Kikyo-sama!" Taiki shouted as he continued to search for their Princess. 'Where did you go?' He worriedly thought as he walked towards a small group of tall hedges and trees. Walking through the small area, he looked over the overgrown shrubs, hedges, and other tall greenery that could easily conceal the small child.
"She's never done this before." He muttered in his frustration, knowing it wasn't like their Princess to run off or hide from them. 'If anything happens to her, I'll never forgive myself.' He worriedly thought, tears shining in his eyes.
Abruptly turning at the sound of a loud 'BOOM', he stood in stunned silence for a moment at the sheer sound of the explosion of powers that shook the heavens above him. 'Dammit! The enemy is here!' He angrily thought, knowing they had to be behind Kikyo's disappearance. Grabbing his brooch from his jacket pocket he quickly glanced around before he called out his transformation.
"Maker Star Power, Make Up!"
Deciding to go to Yaten's assigned area first, Sailor Star Maker pushed herself to run as quickly as she could. 'I have to hurry, the Princess could be in danger!' She worriedly thought, then eased as she heard her sister's voice fill the headset.
"Maker, check-in, if you're there." Sailor Star Fighter's worried voice soon filled her headset.
"Maker here." She responded hearing a sigh of relief from Sailor Star Fighter. "The attack, is it near you, Fighter?"
"No, it's not in your location?" Sailor Star Fighter asked, her stomach nervously dropping and twisting at the sudden realization of the attack's location. 'Odango!' She thought with panic and worry, Sailor Star Healer's voice barely heard through her worried thoughts.
"The attack! It must have been the southern path, that's the path Usagi-chan took!" Sailor Star Healer cried out, realizing their friend was facing their enemy alone. "We need to hurry! She can't face them by herself!"
"Minna, we need to hurry!" Sailor Star Maker urged, worried for their friend's safety, knowing she wasn't strong enough to face them alone.
"Get to the southern path as quickly as you can!" Sailor Star Fighter urged, her fists clenching at her sides as she pushed herself to run faster down the path. 'I'll be there soon, Odango, hold on.' She thought, fear gripping her as her mind reeled on how powerful the enemy truly was and what they were capable of. 'I have to make it in time!' Her mind urged as she summoned her power, preparing herself for the fight to come.
"Kikyo-sama! Where are you?!" Usagi shouted, as she desperately looked back at the gardens where she had taken all the twists and turns amongst the assortment of paths that were filled with an array of flowers and rose bushes. "Where is she?" She worriedly muttered as she contemplated calling Rei for help in the search.
Turning to go down a separate path that led towards the boat docks, she felt unimaginable fear grip her, freezing her in place when spotting Kikyo's bunny lying on the path further in the distance. "No." She gasped as she swiftly ran towards the abandoned toy.
Soon reaching the abandoned toy, she kneeled as she lifted the bunny from the path, tears shining in her eyes as she frantically looked around as tears streaked her cheeks. "Kikyo-chan!" She desperately shouted, her stomach tightly gripped with fear. "Kikyo-chan, where are you?!"
"Are you looking for something terran?" Sitha mocked, watching in amusement as the blonde whirled around to face her. "Seems I have what you're looking for." She jeered, a wicked glint in her eyes as she looked at the toy the blonde was desperately clinging to. "
Feeling fear grip her at the sound of Sitha's voice, Usagi abruptly turned and gasped the bunny slipping from her hold as she shook her head in shock. "Kikyo-chan." She tearfully stated, seeing Kikyo's limp form lying lifeless in the woman's arms. "What did you do to her?!" She angrily demanded, tears streaking her cheeks. "If you-"
"She's only sleeping." Sitha smirked, wickedly chuckling. "I was hoping I could use her to lure you to me. We have some unfinished business before I leave with the child." She sneered, a wicked glint in her eyes.
"You're not taking her!" Usagi yelled, taking a threatening step forward, Sitha laughing in response to her words. "I won't let you take this child!"
"You can't stop me terran!" Sitha sneered, smirking at the terran's weak threat. "What power do you hold?" She mocked, watching the blonde look at her with sheer determination as she removed something from her pocket. "What do you have there?" She mocked, not seeing the blonde as a threat.
"I will stop you, no matter the cost." Usagi swore, reaching into her pocket, removing her brooch. Smiling when Sitha looked at her with shock, she raised her brooch shouting her transformation not wanting to give the enemy any time to react to her transformation. "Moon Eternal, Make Up!"
"Impossible!" Sitha angrily screeched, shocked to learn the terran was the Sailor Guardian she had faced. "You damn pest, I will eliminate you once and for all!" She angrily sneered, summoning her energy to suspend the sleeping child in the air, creating a shield of dark energy around the Kinmoku Princess. "You will not take long, you're weak without your friends here to aid you." She scoffed, smirking when the Sailor Guardian angered at her words.
'I'll show you who's weak.' Eternal Sailor Moon angrily thought while summoning her Eternal Tier, gripping it as she prepared to face the woman one final time. "This is your last fight, Sitha! I won't let you threaten harm to this child ever again!" She swore, as she pointed her weapon and called out her attack. "Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss!" She shouted, watching the woman teleport from the blast's path easily dodging the attack.
"You'll have to do better than that!" Sitha jeered, wickedly laughing at the feeble attack the Sailor Guardian had used against her. Appearing above the Sailor Guardian, she laughed in amusement as she released an onslaught of dark energy orbs onto the unsuspecting Moon Guardian.
Watching in annoyance as the Sailor Guardian avoided most of the attacks, Sita smiled with amusement as one of the orbs exploded near the Sailor Guardian throwing her roughly back into a tree. "You see, I am more powerful than you, you'll never defeat me!" She mocked, as the Sailor Guardian slammed into the tree full force before collapsing against the ground.
"I- I don't give up." Eternal Sailor Moon painfully stated through gritted teeth, ignoring her throbbing ribs and head where she'd slammed into the tree with full force. Shakily standing, she gripped her tier as she wavered slightly, her vision blurring for a brief moment.
"Impossible! You shouldn't be standing after that blast!" Sitha shouted out in rage, preparing another attack.
"Give up! You're not taking the Princess!" Eternal Sailor Moon shouted in return, pointing her staff at the warrior. "I have sworn to protect this child, and I will not break that promise!" She angrily shouted, wavering slightly as she took a step forward. Raising her Eternal Tier towards Sitha once more, she pushed past the pain, determined to protect Kikyo at all costs. "Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss!"
Smirking at her words, Sitha watched with amusement as the Sailor Guardian pointed her weapon at her once more. Raising her hand as the blast of energy hurled towards her, she summoned a shield easily deflecting the Sailor Guardians attack once more smiling as the Sailor Guardian looked on in shock.
"What?! Are you really surprised?" Sitha mocked, laughing as the Sailor Guardian's shock and surprise. "If this is all you've got terran, I will spare you the embarrassment and give you a quick death!" She jeered before laughing.
"Let's end this once and for all Sitha!" Eternal Sailor Moon shouted, closing her eyes and summoning the power of her ginzuishou while pointing her tier at the enemy preparing to call out her attack. Feeling her royal insignia flare with power, she opened her eyes to see power crackling violently around Sitha as she extended her hand out, preparing her attack.
"Gladly." Sitha wickedly stated, her dark energy violently crackling around her as she extended her hands out unleashed a powerful stream of dark energy onto the Sailor Guardian.
Watching the attack hurtle towards her, Eternal Sailor Moon abruptly raised her tier shouting her attack. "Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss!" Surprised at how powerful the dark energy was compared to her attack, Sailor Moon tightly closed her eyes, her royal insignia flaring more as she harnessed the power of her ginzuishou pouring its power into her attack. 'I have to protect Kikyo-chan no matter what.' She desperately thought as the golden energy consumed her before combining with the power of the Eternal Tier. "You will not take her away from me!" She shouted as her attack expelled forwards, overpowering the dark energy and striking Sitha.
Hearing Sitha's shocked and angered screams sound as she was consumed by the golden energy, Eternal Sailor Moon shakily exhaled her tier slipping from her hand clattering onto the ground. Feeling drained from the amount of energy she'd poured into her attack, she felt her legs give way as she weakly collapsed to her knees. "I did it." Eternal Sailor Moon tiredly stated, a relieved sigh escaping her lips as she smiled at her small victory.
Looking up to check on Kikyo, she felt her stomach drop at the sight of the child still being suspended in the air. 'No!' She thought with shock, her stomach lurching in fear at the sudden realization the fight wasn't over. 'It can't be! My attack, it should have-' She thought, her senses suddenly on edge as she sensed the sudden attack hurtling towards her.
Forcing herself to stand, Eternal Sailor Moon screamed out in shock as she narrowly leapt out of the way of a sudden beam of energy. 'Impossible!' She thought seeing Sitha shakily standing a distance away, blood running down the side of her face, rage evident in her gaze. Noticing Sitha waver slightly as she took a step forward, she felt a sense of relief knowing the enemy had been weakened from her attack striking her. 'Now's my only chance.' She desperately thought, carefully looking for her tier not wanting to alert the warrior she'd carelessly lost her only source of defense.
Spotting the weapon was only a small distance away, she forced herself to push past her exhaustion as she turned and rushed towards the abandoned weapon. 'I have to stop Sitha-san! I can't let her stop me!' She thought with fierce determination, as she pushed herself to run faster. 'I won't let you take her!'
"You- you wretched woman!" Sitha angrily screeched, as the Sailor Guardian ran to retrieve her fallen weapon. "I won't let you get the best of me again, you bitch!" She shouted, pouring what remaining power she had into her attack. "Die!" She angrily shouted, her attack hurtling towards the Sailor Guardian.
Throwing herself to the ground, Eternal Sailor Moon lifted her weapon from the ground, twisting her body around as she raised her tier shouting her attack. "Silver Moon Crystal Pow- AGGHHH!" Screaming out at the intense pain as the powerful blast of energy consumed her, she felt everything instantly grow dark, never seeing the Starlight's arrival or hearing Sitha's shouts of pain.
Smirking as the Sailor Guardian reached the weapon too late, Sitha wickedly chuckled as her attack dangerously hurtled towards the terran as Sailor Moon lifted her weapon and shouted her attack too late. 'You little fool.' She gleefully thought, smiling at the Guardian's pained screams as her blast consumed her. "I told you, you're weak, you'll never be a threat." She sneered, a wicked smile spreading across her lips.
"No!" Sailor Star Fighter shouted, watching in horror as Eternal Sailor Moon was consumed by the enemy's attack. "Odango!" She desperately screamed, tears shining in her eyes, her stomach dropping at the sight of her love lying motionless on the ground. "Damn you!" She angrily screamed, turning her enraged gaze towards Sitha. "You'll pay for this!" She angrily shouted, tears of anger streaking her cheeks as she shouted her attack. "Star Serious Laser!"
"You will die with her!" Sitha jeered, summoning what power she had remaining to destroy the leader of the Kinmoku Guardians. Extending her hand out, she gasped in shock as the Starlight responded with her attack first, the attack hurtling towards her before she could react.
Watching her attack consume the enemy, Sailor Star Fighter felt a smile spread across her lips relieved to be rid of one of the ones responsible for the royal's deaths and attack on the palace. 'I won't show any of these murderers mercy, they will pay for what they did to the King and Queen.' She painfully thought, her fists tightly clenched at her sides as she turned her head from the intense light of the blast of the attack.
'No! I can't be defeated by these weak fools!' Sitha thought with shock, her eyes widening in disbelief knowing she would not have the energy to teleport from the path of the Starlight's attack. "Damn you! You wretched- AHHHHH!"
Opening her eyes as the bright energy dissipated, Sailor Star Fighter sighed in relief when seeing the warrior had been successfully destroyed from her attack. Feeling her stomach twist more when seeing Eternal Sailor Moon was still lying motionless on the ground she abruptly sprinted forwards as she shouted to her partner. "Odango!" She cried out, running to where the blonde lay motionless. 'No! Please you have to be alright!' She desperately thought, knowing she'd never forgive herself if she were to fail to protect her.
Watching in relief as Sailor Star Fighters attack destroyed the enemy, Sailor Star Maker gasped in shock seeing the energy surrounding their Princess dissipate as Sitha was destroyed. "Kikyo-sama!" She cried out, as she and Sailor Star Healer rushed forwards, watching in shock as their Princess fell towards the ground below. Abruptly stopping in shock as a warrior suddenly appeared, catching their Princess in time, both Starlights stood in stun, recognizing the symbol in the center of the man's breastplate. "It can't be." Sailor Star Maker gasped, recognizing the late King's family crest, the seven-pointed star.
"Who are you?" Sailor Star Healer demanded, shocked to see a warrior from the Celestial Realm on Earth. "Why are you here?"
"I mean your Princess no harm, I'm an ally from the Celestial Realm." Apollo assured the Starlight, glancing around for his friend. Turning his head towards his friend, he felt a sense of relief as Eternal Sailor Moon began to stir, Sailor Star Fighter taking her hand into hers as they spoke. 'I'll be there shortly, my friend.' He thought, relieved to see she was conscious and speaking with Sailor Star Fighter.
"Who sent you?" Sailor Star Healer spat watching the Celestial Warrior turn his gaze towards her, a smile of mirth tugging at the corner of his lips before he spoke.
"I was sent here for our Guardian." Apollo explained, keeping his gaze on Eternal Sailor Moon. "I've been assigned to bring her home, where she belongs."
"Kikyo-sama?" Sailor Star Healer asked, her eyes widening in shock as the man chuckled looking at her before shaking his head. "No, I am here for-"
"Eternal Sailor Moon!?" Sailor Star Maker demanded in shock. "Why? Why do you want her?!"
"I will explain this, but first I must tend to her injuries." Apollo calmly spoke, as he stepped forwards turning his gaze towards the brunette. "Please, take Princess Kikyo-sama so I may tend to my friend's injuries." He requested, watching Sailor Star Maker cautiously walk forward. "I swear to you, I mean no harm." He assured the cautious Starlight.
Gently resting Kikyo into the Sailor Guardians awaiting arms, Apollo could see tears shining in the Sailor Starlight's eyes, sensing her relief and guilt. "This isn't your fault, don't blame yourself Sailor Star Maker. I will explain everything soon, I prom-" He said, then swiftly turned at the sound of Sailor Star Fighter and Eternal Sailor Moon's pained screams. "NO!" He shouted, swiftly teleporting to assist his friend.
Dropping to her knees as she reached Eternal Sailor Moon's side, Sailor Star Fighter carefully rolled the motionless Sailor Guardian onto her back. Hearing a pained groan sound as Eternal Sailor Moon was turned onto her back, Sailor Star Fighter tearfully sighed in relief. "Odango." She softly stated, tears streaking her cheeks as she gently caressed Eternal Sailor Moon's cheek. "Open your eyes, please let me see you're alright." She tearfully begged, smiling in relief as Sailor Moon spoke.
"Fighter." Eternal Sailor Moon weakly stated, wincing in pain as she shakily raised to sit up.
"You're alright, I've got you." Sailor Star Fighter assured the blonde, gently resting her hand against Eternal Sailor Moon's back as she assisted her in raising. "Are you alright? Are you injured?" She worriedly asked, noticing the multitude of scrapes and small cuts visible on the Sailor Guardians' exposed skin.
"I've had worse than this." Eternal Sailor Moon cheekily stated, watching Sailor Star Fighter smile at the comment. "I'll be alright, Fighter." She assured the worried Starlight, tiredly smiling up at her. "I just need to rest, the ginzuishou will heal my injuries."
"Let's get you home so you can rest." Sailor Star Fighter insisted, smiling as she carefully assisted Eternal Sailor Moon to stand.
"Kikyo-chan?" Eternal Sailor Moon worriedly asked, a sigh of relief escaping her lips when seeing Apollo protectively holding Kikyo in his arms as he spoke with Sailor Star Maker. "She's safe." She said with a sigh of relief.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Sailor Star Fighter worriedly asked, more tears shining in her eyes as she watched the blonde smile at her words before a groan of pain escaped her lips.
"I've had worse." Eternal Sailor Moon responded, a groan escaping her lips as her ribs painfully protested against her movement.
"I- I thought I lost you there for a moment." Sailor Star Fighter tearfully stated, growing more worried, suspecting Eternal Sailor Moon had some broken ribs. "I'll call Rei-chan and see if she'll contact Hotaru-san to stop by and-"
"No, I'm alright, really." Eternal Sailor Moon insisted, gently resting her hand against Sailor Star Fighter's cheek. "I just need some rest, that's all." She said, her cheeks growing red as Sailor Star Fighter pressed her lips against hers.
"What is it?" Sailor Star Fighter chuckled, wondering why Eternal Sailor Moon's face was so flushed, then blushed realizing she'd kissed her in her female form. "I'm sorry." She apologized, her own cheeks turning a similar shade of red.
"Don't be." Eternal Sailor Moon insisted, looking into the Starlight's eyes, their gazes meeting. "As I said, I know it's still you, I just-" She said nervously laughing. "I'm just going to have to get used to kissing another girl." She admitted, feeling her cheeks blush more when hearing Sailor Star Fighter gently chuckle at her comment before she leaned forwards and huskily spoke into her ear.
Gently laughing at Eternal Sailor Moon's comment, Sailor Star Fighter smiled in mirth as she carefully tucked a strand of hair behind the blonde's ear before leaning forward and gently whispering into her lover's ear. "Wait until we're intimate in this form, Odango." She teased, watching Sailor Moon's eyes widen her face turning a brighter shade of red. "I wonder if-"
"Star Fighter, look out!" Eternal Sailor Moon shouted, watching in shock as Rend appeared unleashing a powerful blast in their direction. Summoning all the strength she had left, she shoved the Starlight back from the blast's path, closing her eyes and bracing herself for the oncoming attack.
"Odango!" Sailor Star Fighter screamed out in shock, watching in horror as Sailor Moon was encompassed by the powerful blast that was meant for the both of them. "No!" She heart-wrenchingly screamed, tears streaking her cheeks as she was helplessly forced to watch her love being hurtled back by the powerful blast.
Screaming out as she was hurtled back by the powerful attack, Eternal Sailor Moon cried out in pain as she roughly crashed against the graveled path near the boat docks. Moaning out in pain as her body throbbed in new pain, she forced herself to stand, nervously shifting her gaze as she tried to gain her bearings and find out which direction the blast had come from. Sensing the shift in energy in time, she took a step back in time as Rend appeared, his fist mere inches from her face from his failed strike against her.
Jumping back to avoid his kicks and punches, she yelped out in pain as his fist soon struck her across the jaw knocking her back onto the ground. Hearing his amused chuckle, she ignored the throbbing and burning sensation in her jaw as she forced herself to stand once more. "Is- is that all you have." She tiredly taunted, watching him smirk before he vanished.
Gasping in surprise as the man suddenly appeared in front of her, Eternal Sailor Moon cried out in pain and shock as Rend suddenly brought his hand forward grabbing onto her brooch. Screaming out in pain as his fingers dug deeply into her skin as he tried to rip the brooch from her uniform, she grasped onto his wrist, fighting against his strong grip as she struggled against his strength in her weakened state. "Let go of me!"
Desperately trying to pry his hand loose from her brooch, Sailor Moon felt her eyes widen in fear, a startled gasp escaping her lips as his other hand suddenly clamped tightly around her throat, his grip constricting tighter around her neck. Putting her entire focus on prying loose his vice-like grip from around her neck, she felt the intense struggle for precious air invade her senses as she fought and failed to free herself from his hold.
"I should snap your neck and be done with you." Rend sneered, smiling when he saw the fear in her gaze. "Yet, why would I grant you such a painless death." He mused with a wicked chuckle. "I prefer to play with my victims, watch them suffer until the light fades from their eyes." He sneered, a wicked smile spreading across his lips as his grip tightened further around the brooch, ripping it free from the bow.
Feeling tears streak her cheeks as she felt her vision blurring from the lack of air, Eternal Sailor Moon felt a sense of overwhelming fear grip her when hearing the rip of her uniform as her brooch was ripped free from where it rested in the center of her bow. 'No!' She thought with shock as her transformation gave way in a flurry of feathers, no longer Eternal Sailor Moon but Tsukino Usagi in the clutches of Rend's lethal grip.
Crying out in shock as Ren roughly shoved her back onto the ground, she felt a choked sob escape her lips as she began to take in deep raspy breaths, air filling her burning lungs once more. "Gi-Give... th-that...back." She gasped, a strangled cough escaping her lips, as she angrily glared up at the man.
"If you want this back, then you'll meet me with the child to discuss the terms of an exchange." Rend sneered, glaring down at the young woman. "If you do not bring me the child by morning's first light, I will destroy this brooch." He calmly explained, watching in interest when seeing fear shine in her eyes for a brief moment. "What good will you be to the child, if you cannot defend that little brat without your power?" He jeered, chuckling as tears streaked her cheeks. "You're nothing without this brooch, just a powerless terran."
"Where?" Usagi demanded, tears shining in her eyes, her gaze downcast with defeat.
"The construction site near the Starlight Tower. Come alone, or I'll make you learn the true meaning of pain." Rend warned, turning his head as he sensed the Starlight approaching. Extending his hand out, he smirked as he released a weaker attack, easily blasting the Starlight back as she desperately ran towards them.
"No!" Usagi's strangled cry escaped her lips, tears streaking her cheeks as Sailor Star Fighter was violently thrown back by the attack. Looking back over as Rend took a threatening step forward, she glared up at the man refusing to show him any fear.
"Such tenacity you possess for a terran." Rend jeered, smugly raising his brow as a chuckle escaped his lips. "You've heard my terms, the choice is yours now, my dear." He smirked before abruptly vanishing.
Shakily standing as Rend vanished, Usagi pushed past her pain and fatigue as she ran to where Sailor Star Fighter was standing. "Are you alright?" She worriedly asked, embracing the Starlight as soon as she reached her.
"I'm alright." Sailor Star Fighter assured the blonde, tightly embracing Usagi back. "I'm so sorry." She apologized, knowing she'd failed to protect her love. 'I don't deserve you, I can't keep you safe.' She guiltily thought, knowing she should have pushed herself to react faster sparing her girlfriend from taking the brunt of the attack that was meant for them both. 'I won't let anything else happen to you.' She thought with fierce determination, knowing she would be better prepared to defend Usagi if Rend decided to return. "I promise Odango, we'll get your brooch back." She swore, smiling as Usagi rested her head against her chest, her cheek against her exposed chest as she nodded her head to the promise.
Blushing under the innocent contact, Sailor Star Fighter grew concerned as she felt Usagi slightly waver in her arms. "Usagi?" She worriedly asked, watching the blonde suddenly clutch onto her head for a moment, tears shining in her cerulean blue eyes as their gazes met. "What is it?" She worriedly asked, her grip tightening in her worry as a groan of pain escaped Usagi's lips as she doubled over from the intense pain. "Please tell me what's wrong!?" She pleaded, tears shining in her eyes as Usagi looked up at her with pain-filled eyes, a forced smile on her lips as she tried to ease her instead.
Clutching onto her throbbing head, Usagi tightly closed her eyes from the pain feeling as if her head would split at any moment, tears streaking her pale cheeks. "I- I'm alright… I- I think I need to rest." She weakly muttered before everything suddenly went dark as she slumped forwards unconscious.
"Odango." Sailor Star Fighter gasped, tightening her hold on the unconscious blonde. Carefully lifting Usagi into her arms, Sailor Star Fighter felt tears streak her cheeks as she pressed her forehead against Usagi's as she tearfully spoke. "I'm so sorry, you're hurt because I wasn't fast enough." She painfully admitted, jumping when she heard a masculine voice speak.
"She's only unconscious, Seiya-san." Apollo gently stated, sensing his friend's energy levels were greatly depleted. Hearing the Starlight's surprised gasp, he watched the raven-haired Starlight abruptly turn, looking at him with the same untrusting eyes as the others had
"Who are you?" Sailor Star Fighter demanded, protectively tightening her hold on Usagi drawing the blonde closer against her. Looking in shock when she noticed the seven-pointed star on the breastplate of the Warriors armor, she gasped immediately recognizing the sigil from their late King. "Who are you?" She demanded. "What are you doing on Earth? How did you know to find us here?" She demanded.
"Please, allow me to take Usagi-chan back to her apartment." Apollo requested, frowning as the Starlight took a small step back, drawing Usagi closer against her. "Please, we'll explain everything when you three return with Kikyo-sama." He insisted, watching the Sailor Starlight look at him in shock.
"How- how do you know Usagi-chan?" Sailor Star Fighter asked in shock, growing more suspicious as the Celestial Warrior smirked at her demand in an irritatingly familiar way. "Who are you? Why do I feel that I know you?" She demanded in anger.
"That's because you do know me." Apollo chuckled in amusement, closing his eyes and allowing his armor to vanish as he revealed the identity he used on Earth.
"Yumiko-san!" Sailor Star Fighter gasped, watching in shock as his uniform faded. "You-you're from the Celestial Realm? How long have you been here? Why are you here?" She demanded not understanding why he would be on Earth.
"I promise, we will both explain." Yumiko insisted, worriedly looking at his unconscious friend. "Please, I'm begging you, Seiya-san. Please allow me to take her home, I need to check on the extent of her injuries. I'll inspect Princess Kikyo-sama as soon as you four return to the apartment." He swore, summoning his power as his armor appeared once more.
Contemplating on what she should do, Sailor Star Fighter hardened her gaze as she glared at the man before she spoke. "This better not be a trap, if you hurt her I will-"
"I swear to you, I mean Usagi-chan no harm, she's my friend, Seiya-san. She is my responsibility, just as Kikyo-sama is your responsibility." Apollo calmly explained, seeing the questioning look in the Starlight's gaze. "Please, let me have her, Sailor Star Fighter. I promise we will both explain what is going on, but first I need to heal her injuries." He insisted, watching Sailor Star Fighter hesitantly nod before silently walking forward and placing Usagi into her friend's waiting arms.
"Take her to the apartment, we'll be there shortly." Sailor Star Fighter instructed, watching Apollo nod his head. "Wait." She said, reaching into the blonde's jacket pocket searching for the car keys. Feeling something cool and metallic she looked down at her hand in surprise when removing a small brooch with the seven-pointed star. "What the hell is this?" She angrily demanded.
"Put it back." Apollo warned, glaring at the Starlight.
"Not until you tell me what this is for!" Sailor Star Fighter angrily shouted in return.
"Now isn't the time." Apollo snapped, growing angry as the Starlight refused to place the brooch back into his friend's pocket. "Put it back Starlight!" He angrily shouted. "That brooch is sacred and should only be touched by its master."
"What have you told her?" Sailor Star Fighter demanded, reluctantly placing the brooch back into Usagi's pocket. "She can't go to our realm, you know how erratic and dangerous it is." She urged, glaring at the warrior as she placed the brooch back into Usagi's pocket. Reaching into the other pocket, she felt the keys she'd been searching for as she carefully removed them. "What kind of danger are you willing to put her in?"
"Again, we will discuss this once she's awake." Apollo sternly repeated, growing more irritated as he glared at the Starlight. "Do not interfere in this Seiya-san. This is her decision to make, and only hers to make." He warned before vanishing.
Watching Apollo suddenly vanish, Sailor Star Fighter shakily sighed, her stomach tightly knotting with apprehension as tears shone in her eyes. 'I don't like this.' She worriedly thought, her transformation fading.
"Where is he taking her?" Sailor Star Healer demanded, looking at Sailor Star Fighter in shock for willingly handing Usagi over to Yumiko. "What did he tell you?"
"He's taking her home, he didn't tell me much." Seiya responded, his fists clenched at his side. "Let's go home, he's trying to talk her into fighting for them."
"What? How do you know?" Sailor Star Maker asked in surprise.
"We're wasting time, let's go." Seiya snapped, wanting to return to the apartment and find out what lies Yumiko, no Apollo had been telling his girlfriend. "I don't trust him, or his King." He spat, as he watched Sailor Star Maker and Sailor Star Healer's transformations fade.
"Their King has always shown such animosity towards Kinmoku." Taiki agreed, holding their sleeping Princess closer against him.
"We have to convince Usagi-chan, that he can't be trusted." Yaten insisted, their suspicions finally confirmed as to why they had always felt such unease and distrust around Yumiko.
"It's not going to be easy." Taiki responded with a soft sigh. "Usagi-chan trusts him, he's given her no reason to not trust him."
"Then we need to find a reason." Yaten insisted as they walked in the direction of the path that would lead them back to the parking lot.
"We'll find out what he's told her, then we will tell her the truth." Seiya insisted, not noticing Taiki and Yaten worriedly exchanging looks. "I'm not letting her go, we know how truly dangerous our realm is at this time." He stated, remembering the pressure their King and Queen had been dealing with the threats of war amongst their neighboring planets. 'I won't let you get involved in this, it's not your fight.' He thought with fierce determination. 'Our Princess is safe here, I won't take her back to our realm, not until I know it's safe for her to return.' He silently swore, wanting to keep his Princess safe at all costs.
"Will you calm down, baka." Yaten snapped, growing irritated as his brother continued to nervously pace as the elevator ascended to their floor.
"I'm worried about her." Seiya snapped in return, watching his brother glared at him more as he spat back.
"We're all worried, baka, but your pacing isn't going to get us there any quicker." Yaten quipped back, then softly exhaled. "Why does he look so familiar?" He asked instead, growing frustrated as to why he felt that he knew Apollo from somewhere. "Has he been to Kinmoku in the past?" He asked aloud, unable to shake the deja-vu he felt around Apollo.
"No, I don't think so." Taiki stated, trying to think back to all the faces who would escort their late King when he was courting Kakyuu during their engagement. Drawing their Princess closer against him at the thought of their slain Queen, he blinked his tears back knowing they'd almost lost the last of the royal bloodline. 'We could have lost her today.' He guiltily thought, his stomach tightly knotting at the thought.
Snapping from his thoughts as the elevator doors opened, he watched Seiya quickly sprint out of the elevator rushing towards their apartment. "You shouldn't have been so hard on him." Taiki scolded watching his brother glare over at him. "He's only worried about Usagi-chan."
"So am I, but you don't see me-" Yaten retorted before his brother abruptly interrupted him.
"You're not in love with her, of course, you're not going to be acting like that about her." Taiki quipped, watching his brother scowl at his comment. "I do agree with you about Yumi-, I mean, Apollo-san. There's a reason why we have been so untrusting towards Yumiko-san, perhaps this is why. We could sense that he wasn't from this realm." He suggested watching his brother frown at the suggestion before silently shaking his head.
"That doesn't explain why I feel like we've met or seen him before now." Yaten muttered, glancing up to see his brother rush into the apartment. "I hope she's alright, I can't believe she didn't sustain more injuries fighting Sitha alone." He stated in awe, as they calmly walked down the hall.
"The other one, we need to make sure we're with her when it's time to face him." Taiki stated, anger shining in his eyes. "I want to make him pay for what he did to Kakyuu-sama." He stated, knowing the warrior was responsible for the final and fatal blow against Queen Kakyuu, having taken out his anger and wrath on their gentle Queen after she'd cast Kikyo away to safety within the lantern. Blinking his tears back, he glanced over as his brother rested his hand against his arm.
"Don't worry, we will make that bastard pay for what he's done and for what he's taken from Kikyo-sama." Yaten swore as Taiki silently nodded in agreement. "Come on, let's go check on our friend." He stated as they silently walked down the hall soon entering the quiet apartment.
"Odango?!" Seiya worriedly called out as he entered the quiet apartment. Hurrying towards their bedroom, he abruptly stopped when feeling a gentle tug at his heart, almost as if there were some unseen force trying to guide him. Not resisting the feeling, he turned his head towards the pull, sighing in relief when seeing Usagi and Yumiko standing on the balcony speaking.
'Is this pull from the soulbond?' Seiya thought with awe, realizing the gentle pull he'd felt had helped guide him to Usagi's location. 'This is amazing, what else can this bond do?' He curiously thought, looking forward to learning everything they could now share through their bond.
Watching her turn her head and take notice of him at the same time he had, Seiya felt himself ease when she smiled at him, a warm, calming sensation overwhelming his senses. 'Odango.' He thought in relief, easing at the sight of her, knowing she was safe and no longer injured. Glancing at Yumiko, he noticed the blonde take notice of him, then say something easily diverting Usagi's attention back towards him once more.
Turning his head as he heard Taiki and Yaten enter the apartment, he glanced over to see Taiki silently walk in the direction of the living room to lie Kikyo down in her bed as Yaten angled off into the kitchen stopping and standing next to him as he looked at Usagi with relief.
"I see he healed her." Yaten commented, as a sigh of relief escaping his lips. Turning his focus towards Yumiko with irritation, he grew more agitated from the overwhelming feeling of deja vu still weighing heavily on him. "This is going to bother me until I figure it out." He muttered in his frustration, sighing out heavily as he left the kitchen in a huff "I'll be in my room if you need me." He grumbled, not giving his brother any time to respond as he left the room.
"Taiki-chan, would you like some tea?" Seiya quietly asked, stepping into the living room to see his brother was seated near their sleeping Princess. "She's going to be alright." He assured his brother, relieved their Princess was safely back in their protective watch.
"I know." Taiki softly responded, his eyes downcast as he spoke. "I'm sorry again, I just wanted to take her to the park, let her have some fun. She's always cooped up in the apartment, I thought she was going to be safe." He apologized, tears shining in his eyes as he explained his reasons for taking their Princess to the park. "This is all my fault, if anything had happened to her I-"
"She's safe, that's all that matters." Seiya interrupted, then turned as the balcony door opened.
"I see you're back, let me check on Kikyo-chan." Yumiko stated as he walked towards the small toddler bed, soon kneeling at the child's bedside. Placing his palm against her forehead, he took her small hand into his other as he closed his eyes seeking out her injuries.
After a few moments, he smiled as he removed his hand from her forehead and carefully rested her hand back onto the bed before he looked over at Taiki. "She's had her energy drained, she's going to be fine, she just needs rest." He assured the young man, watching Taiki gratefully smile before a soft sigh of relief escaped his lips.
Quietly standing, he turned to see Usagi and Seiya embrace, the Kinmoku Guardian pressing his lips against Usagi's as he ushered her closer into his protective embrace. "She on the other hand, had some minor injuries that required healing." He teased, watching his friend pause her kissing, turning her gaze towards him to playfully stick her tongue out at him.
"The ginzuishou would have healed me." Usagi quipped, watching her friend smirk at her comment.
"Yes, but how many days would it have taken to heal those broken ribs?" Yumiko quipped, watching his friend pout before averting her gaze. "Admit it, I'm useful to have around." He teased, chuckling as the blonde only smiled at his comment before turning her attention back towards Seiya.
Seeing the worry in Seiya's gaze, Usagi gently rested her hand against his cheek, their gazes locking as she smiled up at him. "I'm alright, it wasn't that bad." She assured him, not wanting him to worry or make a fuss over the injuries she'd sustained in the fight.
"Usagi-chan." Yumiko urged, watching his friend look over at him and silently nod as a soft sigh escaped her lips.
"We need to discuss why Yumi-, I mean Apollo-chan is here." Usagi stated, correcting herself. "Where's Yaten-chan?" She asked, turning her head as he abruptly spoke.
"I knew I recognized you." Yaten spat, anger shining in his eyes as he glared at the blonde.
"Really?" Yumiko deadpanned, raising his brow as he smirked in amusement. "Amuse me, Yaten-san. Tell me what you think you know of me." He requested, watching Yaten anger more at his quip.
"Our King, you were a part of his father's Royal Guard. I only saw you for a few brief moments when his father visited Kinmoku for Princess Kikyo-sama's birth." Yaten responded, noticing both Seiya and Taiki look at him with surprise then towards Apollo for confirmation.
"Why would your King send you here?" Seiya asked in confusion, suddenly remembering Yumiko had already been present on the planet prior to Kikyo's and their arrival.
"For me." Usagi gently stated, tears shining in her eyes as Seiya abruptly looked at her in shock at her confession. "Yumiko-chan." She stated, wanting her friend to explain himself to Seiya and the others, hoping his explanation would ease the others' distrust towards her friend. "Will you tell them what you told me?" She requested.
"Of course, Usagi-chan." Yumiko responded, looking at the three leery men in the room. "I'm sorry for keeping this from you three, but I had my orders." He calmly began, watching Usagi take Seiya by the hand and lead him to the couch before quietly sitting. "You must understand it came as a shock to me when I had learned Queen Kakyuu-sama sent her daughter here." He stated, watching Yaten lean against the wall, standing near Taiki as he remained seated next to their sleeping Princess.
"That doesn't tell us why or what your King wants with Usagi." Seiya snapped, his gaze cold as he glared at Yumiko. "
"Three years ago, there was a clash between good and evil, the two forces faced and the good prevailed over the evil." Yumiko began, turning his head as Yaten scoffed.
"We know this already, we were all there first hand." Yaten scoffed, remembering the fierce battle against Sailor Galaxia and Chaos. "We nearly lost, if it had not been for Usagi-chan."
"I don't deserve all the credit." Usagi softly stated, tearfully looking up at her friend. "I was going to give up, but you three wouldn't let me." She admitted with a sad smile. Feeling Seiya take her hand into his, she felt him give her hand an encouraging squeeze. Smiling at the gesture, she snuggled closer against him, resting her head on his shoulder as Yumiko continued to speak.
"As I was saying." Yumiko stated, glaring at Yaten for a moment before he continued on. "When this battle occurred, the cosmic brooch reacted to the pure energy that Eternal Sailor Moon released to heal Sailor Galaxia and help seal away Chaos once again." He explained, smiling over at his friend. "That brooch has remained dormant for many millennials, that is until her power awoke it."
"Why would her power have any effect on it?" Yaten demanded, watching Yumiko smile at the question before he looked over at him.
Smiling at the question, Yumiko turned his head looking at the silver-haired man as he spoke. "The brooch only responds to those of the purest star seeds, the brooch has chosen its next champion for the Celestial Realm. We can finally be at peace, no longer-"
"No." Seiya sternly interrupted, glaring at Yumiko. "It's wrong, she's already a Guardian for this realm, she's this planet's defender." He argued, abruptly looking over as Usagi spoke.
"I've been given an opportunity to help keep the cosmos safe." Usagi began, reaching into her jacket pocket revealing the small brooch Yumiko had given her. "If I choose this path, I will never become Eternal Sailor Moon again." She explained, tears shining in her eyes at the information she'd learned shortly after she'd awoken after Yumiko healed her. "I can help keep Kikyo-chan safe. She can return home, so she doesn't lose everything. She can-"
"No, you can't do this. You don't know how dangerous it really is out there, Odango." Seiya interrupted, his stomach twisting nervously with apprehension at the thought of his girlfriend facing the evils that lurked in their realm and beyond its borders. "I don't want to lose you, we finally have a life together." He urged, tears shining in his eyes. "This isn't your burden, you don't have to-"
"This isn't your choice, Guardian, this is hers to make alone." Yumiko sneered, angrily glaring at Seiya for his interference.
"What have you been telling her?" Yaten demanded, his arms crossed across his chest as he glared at Yumiko.
"Usagi-chan doesn't belong in our realm, she belongs in her own realm, keeping the Earth safe and protected. This planet is her home, her responsibility to protect. Our realm is not her responsibility to maintain." Taiki sternly added, watching Yumiko angrily look towards him then Yaten.
"You have no say in this." Yumiko angrily retorted back. "This is why I didn't want any of you involved, I knew you wouldn't understand, you would not-"
"Enough." Usagi angrily snapped, tears shining in her eyes, unable to watch Yumiko and the others bicker any longer. Silently standing, she ignored Seiya and Yumiko as they both tried to call out to her to stop as she walked out of the room. "I'm not letting any of you argue over me. This is solely my decision, I will make this choice alone." She responded with a frustrated huff. "I'm going to lay down, I still feel drained from the fight. I don't want anyone disturbing me." She snapped, glaring at Yumiko then towards Seiya before she continued forwards, soon slamming her door shut in her frustration.
Getting up to go check on her, Seiya angrily glared at Yumiko as he took a threatening step forward blocking his path from going any further. "She's not going with you, I won't let her-"
"It's not your choice, it's hers." Yumiko interrupted, glaring at the man. "This is her destiny, she has been given an opportunity to protect our realm. Your Princess can return home and she will finally be safe, you will not have to fear any more attacks against her."
"Our home is here now." Taiki sternly stated, not noticing Yaten and Seiya looked at him in shock. "Our Princess will be in danger until she comes of age to rule, she will be safest here until that time comes."
"Taiki-chan is right, there is no reason to place her in unnecessary danger." Yaten agreed, watching Yumiko scoff at his comment.
"You three are cowards, you choose to hide here instead of facing what is waiting for you on your own planet." Yumiko scoffed, teleporting in time as Seiya took a swing at him. "You know I'm right." He taunted teleporting behind the raven-haired man.
"You don't know anything!" Seiya jeered, anger shining in his eyes as he turned to take another swing at him. "You don't know what they did to our home, to our Queen and King." Feeling Yumiko intercept the punch, he felt his anger quickly turned to grief. "Everything we had…" He stated, his voice trailing off to silence, his shoulders slumping in their failure.
"That's why she needs to do this." Yumiko insisted, releasing his hold on Seiya's clenched fist, a sigh of frustration escaping his lips. "I'm a part of a select group of warriors that has been trained to protect the chosen one when it is time for her to awaken." He explained, looking at the three with pleading eyes hoping to make them understand. "Just as it was an honor to be in the position you three have been placed in with your Queen and now your Princess, I have been bestowed a similar position on my planet, I am sworn to protect the holder of the Cosmic Brooch. If Usagi-chan chooses to accept this high honor, I will fight alongside her and ensure she becomes who she is meant to be." He said with a proud dignified smile.
"I won't lose her." Seiya angrily stated, tears shining in his eyes. "I won't let her leave her home behind."
"You won't lose her, you fool." Yumiko chuckled, his suspicions confirmed by Seiya's words. "As I have explained to her, she will be guarding the cosmos, this power will allow her the freedom to travel wherever she desires." He began, watching Seiya look at him in surprise. "She will be able to return to Earth as much as she pleases, as well Kinmoku if you three ever decide to return your Princess to her home."
"Then why are you insisting she leave then if she has this freedom you're claiming?" Yaten quipped, watching Yumiko glance over at him.
"She has to be trained, learn the way of our realm." Yumiko began then softly exhaled in frustration as he shook his head. "Unbelievable, you three are not any different than Haruka-san and her lover, you allow your distrust of others to blind your better judgment."
"We want to keep our friend safe, just as her Guardians want to protect their Princess." Taiki insisted, glaring at the man. "This isn't her fight, there is no reason for her to fight the dangers that lurk within our-"
"Then why is she forced to fight your battles again?" Yumiko challenged, watching the brunette anger at his question. "You may not want to admit it, but Kinmoku is responsible for leading Chaos to this realm, and again leading those responsible for your Kingdom's downfall to follow your Princess here." He stated, a smirk spreading across his lips. "You know I'm right, that she's been forced to protect and fight your enemy once again." He jabbed. "No wonder her Guardians carry such animosity towards you three, you're constantly endangering their Princess."
"Leave." Yaten spat, glaring at the man, his fists tightly clenched in his anger. "Go back to your planet and tell your King you failed, that you couldn't find her."
"He will only send others in my place." Yumiko responded with amusement. "I'll leave, for now, I won't leave this realm unless Usagi-chan commands me to." He smirked, before vanishing from the room.
"That bastard." Yaten spat, looking at his brother to see how conflicted Seiya looked. "What are you going to do?"
"I don't know, I need to think." Seiya sighed, shaking his head in frustration as he walked towards the balcony to go clear his mind.
"What are we going to do?" Yaten asked as soon as their brother slipped out onto the balcony.
"I don't know, we'll figure it out." Taiki assured his brother, frowning at the sudden thought of revealing the information to their friend's Guardians. 'We'll wait before we address our concerns to her Guardians. Usagi-chan will never trust us again if we go behind her back on this.' He worriedly thought.
'This is my choice, not theirs.' Usagi thought with aggravation, turning onto her back from where she was lying on the bed, staring up at the ceiling, feeling conflicted by her sudden predicament. "What am I going to do about my brooch? I have to get it back, no matter what happens." She muttered, trying to think of a way that she could get it back without putting anyone else in danger. "This is my fight, I can't let them get hurt because of my mistake."
'If only there was a way I could trick him into thinking I didn't need my brooch.' Usagi thought in dismay, then gasped as she abruptly raised at the thought of the disguise pen she had used so many times to aid her when she first became Sailor Moon. "It's somewhere around here, it's got to be." She muttered, quickly scrambling off the bed and rushing towards her closet.
Opening the closet door, Usagi stepped into the small walk-in closet, standing on her tiptoes as she reached for a small pink box on the top shelf mounted above her clothing. Feeling her fingers brush against the box, she smiled as the box slowly made its way to the edge until she was able to grasp it, sliding it the remaining way off the shelf.
Carrying the box towards the bed, she placed it on the corner as she sat down and quietly began to rummage through the contents of the box. Smiling as her hand brushed against the smooth texture of the disguise pen, she lifted the pink pen looking down at it with a sense of nostalgia. "Please let this work." She sighed while tucking the small pen into her jacket pocket.
"Let what work?" Yumiko curiously asked as he appeared in the bedroom. Chuckling with amusement when his friend jumped at the sound of his voice, he smiled as he quietly sat next to her, a chuckle escaping his lips. "I would think you would be used to me doing this by now." He teased, watching her smile at his words.
"One would think." Usagi wryly stated, smiling over at her friend. "Thank you for speaking to them about this, I'm sorry it didn't go as smoothly as I was hoping." She apologized.
"They're stubborn, nearly as stubborn as your Guardian's." Yumiko responded with a soft chuckle glancing over to see Usagi's smile falter at his comment. "When are you planning on telling your Guardian's of your decision?"
"Soon." Usagi quietly stated, tears shining in her eyes. "I need to take care of the last one, Kikyo-chan won't be safe until the threat has been removed." She insisted, resting her head on her friend's shoulder.
"As I told you before, they will need closure." Yumiko calmly reminded his friend, watching Usagi silently nod her head. "You know if you ever need me, you only need to call my name." He said suspecting his friend was up to something.
"I know." Usagi softly stated as she smiled up at her friend. "It's a good thing I haven't found myself in a big enough bind yet." She stated with mirth.
"Usagi-chan, you need to be careful around this threat." Yumiko cautioned, frowning at his friend's attempt to play off her injuries she'd sustained in the fight. "You're lucky your injuries were not life-threatening."
"I'm alright, Yumiko-chan." Usagi insisted, raising her head to look into her friend's worried gaze.
"Usagi-chan, whatever your planning, let me help you, I don't want you to get hurt." Yumiko implored, watching his friend look at him with surprise before she stubbornly smiled at him to conceal her surprise.
"I'm not going to get hurt, I know what I need to do." Usagi responded, hearing his gentle sigh before he silently nodded his head.
"I am your appointed Guardian, Usagi-chan, I'm sworn to protect you, until you command me otherwise." Yumiko stated, taking her hand into his as he brought her hand to his lips placing a gentle kiss onto the back of her hand. "I don't want to see you get hurt, what kind of protector would I be?" He asked, smiling at her response.
"You're doing a wonderful job, my friend. I know I'm a handful, I've always been a handful, even to my Guardians." Usagi admitted, watching Yumiko smile at her words. "I'll be alright, I promise." She assured him, tightening her hold on his hand that was still holding onto hers.
Smiling at her promise and reassurances, Yumiko gently sighed before releasing his hold on her hand as he silently stood. "I'm going to see if I can find Rend, if I do, I'll get your brooch back, I swear it."He promised, watching her tearfully shake her head, fear and concern in her gaze.
"No." Usagi tearfully insisted, watching her friend look at her with surprise. "Please don't do this alone, I don't want you to get hurt." She pleaded, tears shining in her eyes knowing she couldn't have anyone around when she faced Rend. "I want to go with you if you find him."She stated instead, hoping to avoid more suspicion from her friend by the plea.
"You're defenseless right now, Usagi-chan, it would be far too dangerous for you to face off against him." Yumiko insisted, watching his friend stubbornly shake her head.
"It's my brooch, I have to get it back." Usagi stubbornly insisted. "This is my fight, not yours."
"So you are up to something?" Yumiko observed, watching his friend abruptly look at him with surprise. "You are, aren't you?" He asked in shock.
"No, of course not." Usagi nervously responded, forcing a scoff as she waved away his accusation.
"You're a terrible liar." Yumiko chuckled, watching his friend scowl at his comment.
"I am not." Usagi quipped, smiling when Yumiko raised his brow at her in amusement.
"Please Usagi-chan, please don't do anything without me there to assist." Yumiko pleaded, growing serious as he rested his hands against her shoulders looking into her surprised gaze. "I will form a plan that will get us closer to retrieving your brooch, until then, please try to stay out of trouble. Rend is a dangerous mercenary, he will not show mercy to those who stand in the way of his orders."
"I promise" Usagi quietly responded, growing uneasy as her friend looked into her gaze searching for the truth in her words. "I'll see you tomorrow, I- I'll get my Guardian's involved only if the plan requires their assistance." She instructed, watching Yumiko nod in acceptance.
"Tomorrow then." Yumiko responded, looking at his friend with a grateful smile before he vanished from the bedroom.
Watching Yumiko vanish from the bedroom, Usagi jumped at the sound of a soft knock against the door. Turning her head as the bedroom door opened, she watched Yaten quietly enter the bedroom.
"How are you feeling?" Yaten worriedly asked from where he stood at the door looking at his friend with concern.
"I'm alright, I just had some broken ribs and the start of a concussion." Usagi responded, as she quietly stood and placed the lid back onto the pink box as she made her way to her closet to place it back onto the shelf. "Having Yumiko-chan here to heal my injuries helped tremendously." She stated, opening her closet door. "I didn't have to involve my friends with any of this." She said smiling at the thought of keeping the attack from her friends.
"What are you planning on doing about your brooch?" Yaten asked, watching her pause her steps as she looked over at him before turning her attention back down to the small box she was holding.
"Yumiko-chan is going to help me get it back." Usagi responded, not noticing Yaten's jaw clench before he silently nodded his head.
"You're going to hurt him if you do this." Yaten insisted, watching the blonde rest the small box onto the floor of the closet with a soft sigh before shutting the closet door, turning her full focus towards him.
"Then go back with me." Usagi responded, noticing irritation briefly flash in Yaten's gaze.
"We can't, Usagi-chan. Kikyo-sama isn't old enough to travel back without the assistance of the lantern." Yaten explained, watching his friend look at him in surprise. "If you leave Seiya-chan behind to leave with Yumiko-san, there is no telling when or if you'll return home." He warned her. "Can you really do this to Seiya-chan, to Kikyo-sama?" He asked, noticing the guilt in her gaze as his words sunk in. "Do you love my brother?" He demanded, not wanting to see his brother get hurt again.
"Of course I love him." Usagi insisted, growing irritated when Yaten challenged her feelings for Seiya.
"Then show him by staying, if you leave, this will break his heart." Yaten urged, his gaze growing cold for a moment. "You've already broken his heart once." He snapped, seeing the hurt in her gaze as she guiltily looked away. "If you do this to him again, if you hurt him, there will be no repairing it this time." He warned, quietly turning and leaving the room so his friend could think over his words.
Burying her face in her hands in frustration, Usagi tearfully exhaled as she allowed her frustrations and worries to surface. 'I don't know what to do?' She thought, feeling conflicted with the choices she would need to make. Sitting on the bed with a huff, she allowed herself to drop back as tears freely flowed down her cheeks. 'I need to rest so I'm ready to face Rend.' She thought, knowing without her ability to transform she would need to be fully rested and alert ready for his moves against her. Closing her eyes, she felt her exhaustion take over as she drifted off into a deep slumber.
(Later That Evening)
Groggily exiting the bedroom, Usagi stifled a yawn as she tiredly made her way towards the living room. Smiling when she noticed Taiki was reading from one of her textbooks, she watched him look up and blush from being caught. "I have a literature book in my bag, there is an entire section of poetry you may enjoy." She suggested, diverting her path to where her bag was lying on the floor.
"Usagi-chan, I'm sorry, I was wanting to pass the time and I saw your history book lying on the table in the kitchen. I-" Taiki apologized before Yaten snorted and spoke.
"Don't lie to her, you just didn't want to lower your precious standards and get caught reading a comic." Yaten quipped, chuckling as his brother glared at him in response. "I have no problem reading these, they're actually really good." He admitted motioning towards the small stack he'd been reading to pass the time.
"Those are one of my favorite series." Usagi said, briefly glancing to see which issues Yaten had chosen to read from her collection. Rummaging through her bag, she smiled as she lifted the heavy textbook from her bag. Setting the book beside her, she zipped the bag closed, lifting the book once more before walking to where Taiki was sitting on the couch. "Here's this, if you want to take a break from the history lesson." She teased, watching her friend smile his thanks as he accepted the thick literature book.
"Thank you, Usagi-chan." Taiki gratefully stated, taking the thick book and opening it in search of the poetry his friend had suggested.
"When my classes start next week, you should go to the campus library with me Taiki-chan. I can check out some books for you." Usagi offered, watching Taiki look at her with surprise an excited smile spread across his lips.
"Thank you, Usagi-chan. That would be great, I'd love to accept your offer." Taiki happily stated, watching the blonde smile before she glanced around looking for their missing brother. "He's on the balcony." He stated with a smile.
"He's been there most of the day, good thing it's not that cold out." Yaten muttered, his attention back on the comic resting in his lap.
"How's Kikyo-sama?" Usagi worriedly asked, glancing over at the sleeping toddler.
"She was up for a couple of hours, then fell asleep shortly after she ate." Taiki replied, watching his friend sigh in relief as she walked towards their slumbering Princess's bedside.
Tucking the blankets around the child, Usagi smiled as she brushed some stray strands of hair away from the child's face. 'I'm so glad you're alright.' She thought with relief, tears shining in her eyes. "I'm going to get my brooch back." She stated in determination. "When I do I'm going to end this one and for all. This shouldn't have happened, she should be able to go to the park without fear of an attack." She stated as she stood and walked towards the balcony.
"Do you have a plan yet?" Taiki inquired, watching the blonde abruptly stop remaining silent a moment before she spoke.
"No, Yumiko-chan is going to think of a way to lure Rend out, then we'll figure it from there." Usagi lied, hoping her words were believable.
"We will help you fight Rend." Yaten swore, watching his friend look over at him in surprise. "He will pay for what he's done to Kikyo's parents, to her home."
"Let us help you." Taiki insisted, glancing over as the balcony door opened, Seiya quietly entering the apartment once more. "We're stronger if we fight together, Usagi-chan."
Wrapping his arms around her waist as he reached her side, Seiya sighed in relief as he drew Usagi closer into his embrace, his lips pressing gently against hers. "I went to check on you earlier, but you were resting, I didn't want to disturb you."
"Sorry, I guess I was more tired than I thought." Usagi apologized, smiling as his cold hand rested against her cheek. "You're so cold." She stated in worry. "You're going to get sick."
"I"m alright, Odango." Seiya chuckled, touched by her concern. "Do you feel well enough to go for a short walk?" He asked, wanting to spend some time alone with her. "There's a cafe around the corner, we can get something warm to drink." He suggested, watching her smile at the offer.
"Sure, let me go change." Usagi responded, motioning to her clothing that still showed the signs of her struggle at the park.
Nodding his head, Seiya smiled as he watched her turn and walk in the direction of the bedroom once more. Hearing the soft click of the bedroom door shutting, he softly exhaled as he nervously ran his hand through his hair. 'I'm so glad she agreed to go.' He thought with relief.
"Are you going to speak with her?" Taiki quietly inquired, glancing towards their friend's closed bedroom door.
"Yes, I just hope she'll listen." Seiya responded, glancing over as Yaten chuckled at his comment.
"Good luck, she's obviously more stubborn than you." Yaten muttered, not noticing his brother glared at him in response.
(Flashback)
(End of Flashback)
Snapping from her thoughts as she felt Seiya rest his hand over hers, Usagi lifted her gaze from her untouched mug of hot cocoa.
"What's wrong?" Seiya worriedly asked, watching her avert her gaze, tears shining in her eyes.
"I'm just angry with myself for losing my brooch." Usagi responded, shakily exhaling as she blinked back her tears. Feeling him lace his fingers through hers, she smiled as she felt him give her hand a gentle squeeze of reassurance.
"It's going to be alright, we'll get it back." Seiya promised, frowning in worry as he watched Usagi tearfully smile before averting her gaze back to her untouched cocoa. "Odango, look at me, please." He pleaded, watching a stray tear streak her cheek as she reluctantly looked up.
"I promise you, we will get it back." Seiya insisted, bringing her hand to his lips as he pressed a gentle kiss against the back of her hand.
"The others, they can't know about this. They're going to be so angry with me, I just-" Usagi stated, pausing as her voice began to waver with tears. "I keep messing up things, and now this. They are never going to-"
"Do you think our relationship is a mistake?" Seiya abruptly interrupted, his hold on her hand faltering as he looked at her with hurt.
"Of course not." Usagi urged, realizing too late how her words had come out wrong. "I love you, Seiya-chan. I have regrets, yes, but if I had a choice to do this again-" She said pausing as she tightened her hold on his hand as she looked into his conflicted gaze. Drawing in a shaky breath, she refused to tear her gaze from him as she spoke, wanting him to see the truth in her words, that she wasn't regretful for choosing him. "If I had another chance at this, I would have I told you how I really felt sooner." She admitted, a few stray tears streaking her cheeks. "I would have told you the truth on the rooftop when you asked me if you were good enough." She said, hearing the hitch in his breath as he looked at her in shock. "Because you are good enough, and I've lost so much time I could have had with you if I had just accepted how I felt." She painfully admitted, lowering her gaze in her guilt before looking up into his gaze once more. "I let the knowledge of my future blind me and force me to stay on the path that was planned out." She explained, her heart painfully panging at the thought of Chibi-Usa.
Feeling an overwhelming surge of grief invading his senses, Seiya tightened his grip on Usagi's hand wondering what had suddenly caused the sudden remorse and regret to radiate from the soul bond he shared with Usagi. "Odango are you alright? What are you not telling-" He worriedly asked, before she interrupted him.
"I love you, Sei-chan." Usagi interrupted, tears streaking her cheeks. "Please don't doubt my love for you." She tearfully begged, unable to control her emotions as she thought of what she would be attempting later on her own. 'I don't know if I'm going to make it back to you.' She heartbrokenly thought with a moment of fear, a small part of her mind fearing and accepting she would fail in her mission to retrieve her brooch from Rend.
"Odango you're worrying me." Seiya stated, seeing how emotional she was becoming.
"Can we go?" Usagi pleaded, unable to keep her emotions at bay for much longer.
Nodding his head, Seiya stood as he kept his hold on her hand as they made their way out of the small cafe. Worriedly glancing at her as they walked down the sidewalk, he felt his stomach twist in worry as Usagi abruptly stopped and embraced him, her arms encircling him as she buried her face against his chest. "Odango, I'm right here, just tell me what's bothering you." He pleaded, wrapping an arm around her waist as his other hand cupped her chin tilting her tear-streaked face to look up at him. "What's wrong?" He urged.
"I'm so scared." Usagi tearfully admitted, looking up into his worried gaze. "I'm scared, Seiya-chan, I'm afraid I'm not going to get my brooch back. That I'm not strong enough to-"
Pressing his lips against hers before she could finish her words, Seiya poured his soul and unyielding love for her into the kiss, not caring that they were blocking the sidewalk as people were forced to walk around them. "You're stronger than you think, when you have your mind set on something, you are a force to be reckoned with, don't ever forget that." He breathlessly assured her as their lips parted, both out of breath from their outpouring of love.
Tearfully smiling at his words, Usagi felt a bout of courage replace her fears and doubts, ready to face Rend and challenge him for her brooch. "Do you mean it?" She tearfully asked, watching him smile more at her question.
"Of course I mean it, Odango, your light will always outshine the darkness." Seiya responded, pressing his forehead against hers, his eyes closing as he tried to search out her link and offer her comfort to help ease the fear and anxiety that was radiating from her. "How do you do it?" He chuckled, growing frustrated at his failed attempt to reach her link.
"Do what?" Usagi asked, confusion in both her gaze and voice.
"I felt you earlier through our soul bond, then when you looked at me I felt this rush of warmth and love. I felt so at peace, I want to be able to offer you the same comfort." He explained in his frustration, watching a beautiful smile spread across her lips, love radiating from her.
"You'll figure it out in time." Usagi said, smiling as she planted a gentle kiss on the tip of his nose. "Having you here, feeling your touches against my skin, this offers me comfort." She assured him, watching him happily smile at her words. "We have our whole lives to figure out this soul bond." She promised, hoping she was not sending him an empty promise if she were to fail in her standoff against Rend.
"I love you, Odango." Seiya responded, planting a gentle kiss against her lips.
"I love you too." Usagi softly murmured as their lips parted. Feeling Seiya reposition his arm around her waist, she happily smiled as she leaned into his embrace as they made their way back towards their apartment. 'I'll be alright, I have to be.' She thought with fierce determination.
