Hello everybody! Glad you all are enjoying the story still! 70,000 views woo!
I really couldn't wait to get started on this next chapter, so I got to work on it right away. I seriously cannot believe how soon I got this out.
The last chapter was really fun to write because of the fight scene I mentioned at the end of the last chapter, but it was also because I got to write the aftermath of it in this chapter.
This one was also really fun to write, because I got to bring in another character that I've been itching to use for a veeeeeery long time.
Have fun!

Let us not listen to those who think we ought to be angry with our enemies, and who believe this to be great and manly. Nothing is so praiseworthy, nothing so clearly shows a great and noble soul, as clemency and readiness to forgive. - Marcus Tullius Cicero

Chapter 15: Behind Enemy Lines
[2/10/16 - 10:00 am - Isla Matanceros outpatient wing]
"Nggggh…" Kenny groaned and slowly woke up. "Fuuuuuuuck… I hurt like hell…"
Kenny slowly tried to get up, but when he turned his body to the side, he groaned loudly as sharp, throbbing pain raced through his body. He looked down and saw that his ribs were bandaged, and from the small parts that he could see under the bandages, they were a dark magenta color. He could also see that there were tons of stitches across his arms, upper chest, and his shoulder.
"Shit, I look like hell." Kenny said, and couldn't believe that he was even alive right now.
"Oh, I see that you're finally up." A woman with bright orange hair said as she came in holding a clipboard. "It's really nice to finally meet you Kenny."
"Who are you?" Kenny asked, trying to get up again, but the woman came over and gently put a hand on his shoulder, away from the bites.
"Please be careful, your ribs are still bruised pretty badly." She requested. "As for who I am, I'm Dr. Sarah Harding, but you don't need to be professional and all, you can just call me Sarah."
"Ooooh, Jess must be your sister then, I heard about her from B-" Kenny started to say, but looked around. "Wait… where is Blue? Where am I even?"
"You're on Isla Matanceros, this facility is like a hospital and rehabilitation center for humans and dinosaurs alike. You received a large number of very severe lacerations and bites from Skye. Thankfully we managed to stop the bleeding on all of you." Sarah said, and Kenny sighed at hearing Blue was okay, but jolted up when he heard that Skye was there too.
"Wait, you brought the one who did this to us and put them in the same building?!" Kenny asked, and started to get up, but was set down in the bed he was in again.
"I understand that you're concerned for her, but please know that they are in separate rooms, and Skye is still unconscious." Sarah replied. "You did a real number on her. I'm honestly surprised she's even alive, her wounds are more severe than yours."
"Because she and her brother tried to fucking murder me and Blue." Kenny retorted and looked up at Sarah, who simply sighed and closed her eyes before looking back up at him.
"Yes, I know." Sarah told him. "Maria, Cobalt, and Apoyo came across you two right as you were choking each other and passing out from blood loss. Terra was extremely distraught at seeing his sister bleeding out from all over her body."
"Then he and his sister shouldn't have attacked us." Kenny simply stated. "We gave them every possible opportunity to listen and to reunite them with their parents, and they tried to paralyze us at every chance they got."
"They thought they lost their parents. They were only five at the time." Sarah said as she took a seat in a swivel chair. "Do you know what happened for them?"
"Yes, Maria told me how she and Apoyo mated but accidentally gave away the location of some of their packmates, because Terra and Skye wandered off since their parents weren't playing with them. After sacrificing herself for their kids, Maria saw Henry Wu shooting them and then driving them over in a hit-and-run." Kenny replied. "Yes, I know all about it."
"Do you know how they experienced it?" Sarah asked, and took Kenny's sigh as a "no". "It was extremely traumatizing for them. To a young child like that, a tranquilizer dart is no different from a bullet, and they couldn't process what death was at such a young age. Trauma can really warp your memories, and when they learned that their parents were shot, they associated what is typically used in shootings: bullets. Terra and Skye honestly believed that their parents were dead."
"So then why wouldn't they listen to us?" Kenny asked.
"I was just about to tell you." Sarah sighed. "The two were in denial. The grief of feeling responsible for the 'death' of their parents was so traumatic for them that they didn't want to believe their actions didn't result in what happened. In a way, it provided closure for them, and the confusion presented by the possibility of their parents being alive would have reopened the wound."
"I'm still not willing to forgive them." Kenny grumbled. "How do you know them so well?"
"Forgiveness isn't a switch Kenny. You can't just hear a story and immediately forgive someone, sometimes the feelings linger for a while and it takes time to accept it. The fight you and Blue went through is still very fresh for you." She explained. "As for how I know Terra and Skye so well, me and my sister Jess saved their lives. We raised them here until they wanted to return to their family and pack because they felt it was where they belonged."
"You saved them? How? They were bleeding out in a field." Kenny wondered.
"About that, we actually came across them almost immediately after they were shot. We were going to Isla Nublar to train some veterinarians at the time when we saw them in the field." Sarah said. "We were really lucky to come across them when we did. A few minutes later without being treated, and they wouldn't have survived."
"Where did Skye get those claws from?" Kenny asked. "Those couldn't have been made by dinosaurs."
"No, they were made by us." Sarah answered. "We showed her the plans for them on her first birthday as a present to her, and she fell in love with them. She wanted us to add another digit along with a thumb, which definitely wasn't easy. I'm still surprised how easily her brain adapted to having two extra digits on each limb."
"Oh, I see." Kenny said, and looked at the door. "This is really interesting and all, but I'm really worried about my friend Blue, can you please take me to her?"
"Of course, I'll help you up." Sarah agreed, and gently pulled him up. "Careful now."
"Nnngh, thanks for this." Kenny said as he slowly stood up. "Man my ribs really hurt."
"You must have taken a big thud to them, you're lucky they didn't get broken. You'll have to avoid any strenuous activities for at least a week." Sarah said as she helped him out. "You know, your mate is really worried for you. When she heard your injuries, she tried to get up and come see you. We even caught her trying to sneak out after we had already told her she needed to rest."
"Yeah, I bet she- wait… m-mate?! Did you look through my journal?!" Kenny asked, turning to look over at Sarah.
"Journal? No, I haven't seen a journal of yours, I could tell just by how she talked about you. No need to worry though, Jess knows too, but we won't be telling anyone, so you don't need to worry about being arrested or anything. Plus, that's not even close to the crazy things I heard of concerning dinosaurs." Sarah said.
"Phew, thanks for that." Kenny sighed, and looked into a window as he passed by. Inside it he saw Maria, Apoyo, Cobalt, and Terra looking over Skye, who was unconscious on a large medical bed and covered all over in thick bandages. Terra glanced up at Kenny when he saw him passing by, but quickly looked down, unable to look Kenny in the eyes. Kenny almost couldn't stifle a growl, but a hand on his shoulder from Sarah calmed him down.
"Please just leave him be. He's deeply ashamed for what he did, and he blames himself for how his sister ended up." Sarah requested, and Kenny agreed to settle down. He almost said that Terra should blame himself, but something about even thinking that didn't sit right with Kenny, so he held his tongue. Sarah knocked on the door to another room, and it opened up to reveal Jess on the other side.
"Hey, you're finally awake. Blue is right in here." Jess said, and stepped to the side. Kenny looked on the bed to see Blue weakly lifting her head to see him, and a smile made its way onto her face. Kenny was shocked to see how weak she looked, and the scales on the top of her left thigh were a bright red. That was nothing compared to the huge metal staples along the left side of her chest though, the sight of it was almost enough to make him run over to her.
"Hey love…" Blue quietly said, reaching out to hold Kenny's hand, and he wrapped his fingers around the digits on her claw. "Looks like you ended up better than me."
"Oh my god! Blue, what happened to you?!" Kenny asked, and Blue chuckled before groaning at the pain it took to do that.
"Propane gas and sparks do not end well." She said with a small smile. "I got a foot long metal shard buried halfway into my chest. It would have broken my ribs and went into my heart if it had been an inch to the right."
"I can't believe this happened, I wish I could have taken care of Skye and…" Kenny started to say, but teared up and put his head on Blue's shoulder as he started to cry. "When I saw that explosion, I thought you were dead… I thought the single-most important person in my life had been ripped away from me..."
"Kenny, don't feel bad, you barely survived your fight too. From the injuries I heard you gave Skye, you actually did really good at surviving." She said, reaching up to gently stroke his hair, twirling it around her claw digits. "My fight with Terra didn't last long. I actually got quite a few hits on him before he ran."
"How did this happen?" Kenny asked, and smiled when he felt Blue playing with his hair.
"Heh, I tried to run him through with the claw on my foot, but ended up puncturing the tank instead. After that he got venom on me and busted open an electrical box when he knocked me into a wall. I tried to run after he tossed me to the ground when I bit his neck, and then the explosion blew me through a wall and a bunch of tables. Next thing I knew, over half a foot of metal was buried in my body" Blue said, and Kenny's jaw was on the floor.
"She actually pulled herself out of the fire, fighting through the venom he got in her, all while leaving a trail of blood behind her. Aside from the burns she got on her thighs, she's actually healing really well. We can probably remove the staples today." Jess noted. "Don't get the wrong idea though, the cuts and bites are still going to scar, but if she doesn't get cut or bit any more on this side, she'll make a great recovery and the wound isn't likely to reopen."
"Son of a bitch you're tough." Kenny said, and gently hugged Blue as best he could without hurting either one of them. "I'm so glad you're alive, I don't know what I'd do without you by my side."
"I'm really happy to see you too sweetie, hopefully we can rest for the next few days until we get our energy back." Blue said and softly kissed his lips.
"Yeah, that's probably for the best." Sarah agreed. "You lost a lot of blood a few days ago. We had to give her a transfusion from raptor blood we had on hand, thankfully we still had plenty in stock, she's the second raptor with such severe injuries that we've had to treat in the last couple of months."
"That's good to hear." Kenny sighed, before realizing just what they said. "A few days?! I've been out that long? Who's been watching the island?"
"Relax, we've been watching over it for the time being, InGen hasn't made any attempts to go back there." Sarah said. "Your friends are safe."
"How did I even end up here? Last thing I remember is passing out in the bamboo forest." Kenny asked.
"Oh, Cobalt called us." Jess said. "Sure am glad we gave Skye that smartphone."
"Wait wait wait… a dinosaur called you?" Kenny asked.
"Well yeah, we gave Skye a phone so we could stay in touch." Sarah said. "Cobalt didn't know we could understand him, but he was the only one around on Isla Nublar who could speak English."
"I still wonder how he can do that, Maria and Apoyo can't." Kenny wondered.
"Oh, that's because he has human DNA inside of him, that's what enabled him to speak it." Sarah said. "Turns out it was passed down into him from who knows when."
"Huh, well I doubt Dr. Sorkin would have done that, so it couldn't have been from one of the troodons. Maybe it was from his grandmother Sandy?" Kenny guessed.
"Maybe, we'd have to run a genealogy test on them to see how far back the connection goes." Sarah said. "But it turns out he has human DNA like you Blue."
"I HAVE WHAT?!" Blue asked, jolting up before groaning at the sudden movement.
"Yeah, we found that out when doing a DNA test on you to determine what your blood type was, and who we could give you blood from." Jess explained. "It's really quite surprising actually."
"So what am I then? Am I some human in the body of a raptor?" Blue asked, and gently smiled when she felt Kenny holding her claw.
"Nah, you're a raptor in a raptor's body. You're only a quarter human so to speak, not quite enough to affect your physical features like Kenny here." Sarah said, patting Blue's head.
"It's so surreal, kinda cool even." Blue added, smiling more at that.
"I bet." Jess said. "Well, would you two like some breakfast? You must be starving after all this time unconscious."
"Yes please, that would be really nice." Kenny agreed, and gently took Blue's claw into his hand as he looked at her face. "Anything in particular?"
"I'd really love some beef and eggs right about now." Blue said, and nuzzled Kenny. "I'm really, really hungry."
"I'll get right on it." Jess said, and left the room to head to the mess hall. As she passed by the room where Skye was, she could see that Skye was starting to wake up.

"{Uuuuuuugh… god… my head hurts…}" Skye groaned as she slowly woke up while holding her head. "{Where am I?}"
"{Skye?}" She heard a voice ask, and her eyes jolted open to see a dilophosaurus and a troodon standing before her. It took her a few moments, but as their faces started to sink in, she gasped and her eyes began to water.
"{M-Mom… dad?}" Skye asked, her voice starting to crack as she saw her parents for the first time in five years. "{Is t-t-that really you?}"
"{Yeah Skye, it's us.}" Maria said and held Skye's claws.
"{Oh Skye, I'm so glad you're safe! I couldn't stop worrying about you for the past few days!}" Terra cried, stepping over and gently hugging his sister as best he could.
"{You've grown so much…}" Apoyo sniffed, smiling as he gently nuzzled her head. "{It's been so long since we've seen that sweet face of yours and your brother.}"
"{It's a shame the years haven't been kind on you… you look like you've been through so much…}" Maria said as she gently felt the scar from the bullet on her neck, and the scar across her face that blinded her right eye. "{I'm so sorry I couldn't have been there for you… it's kind of my fault you ended up like this.}"
"{Maria, we-}" Apoyo started to say, but was stopped by his mate.
"{Yes, I know that we didn't intend for this to happen, and that we did all we could. Still though, seeing our baby girl hurt like this… I can't help but feel some blame for what ended up happening.}" Maria said, and stroked Skye's face, wiping away the tears that flowed from her eyes.
"{Yeah, I understand. Well, should we let our other friend say hello?}" Apoyo asked, and looked behind him. Maria nodded and stepped to the side to see Cobalt waiting.
"Hey sweetie." Cobalt said, before immediately realizing what he just said and covered his maw to hide the red tint developing on them. Skye cracked a smile at seeing her friend get flustered at her, but her amusement quickly turned to confusion and worry,
"{Cobalt! Where have you been?! I've been worried sick about you!}" Skye said, and he scratched his muzzle as he tried to find his words.
"{We looked for you all day yesterday, before Spark gave us our order to hunt Kenny.}" Terra said, mumbling the last part.
"I was… I was actually with Kenny and Blue…" Cobalt said, drawing a gasp from them. "After I scouted out a path to their home, I came across Blue hanging on to a cliff, and I led Kenny to her. After that he told me to go get Maria and Rexy to help, but they were already up when I got back."
"{That was us… we-we couldn't go through with killing them that night…}" Terra said, and his voice fell off again. "{We never should have tried to…}"
"After that… I…decided to stay with them… at least for the night. I couldn't stay there though, not while I was away from you Skye…" Cobalt confessed. "Later that day, I confessed to Blue where I came from. They were being so nice and they treated me with so much kindness, that I... I couldn't keep the truth from them any longer."
"{You were… going to leave us?}" Skye asked, and Cobalt flinched at the pain in her tone.
"No, I wasn't. The next day, I found out that I still had family alive in Maria's pack, and I knew I couldn't stay in a pack that was trying to kill that one." Cobalt said. "That day, I vowed that I would come and get you and Terra, along with our friends and family, and leave."
"{Your… family?}" Terra wondered.
"Yeah, I never knew it at the time, but my grandmother is alive. Her name is Sandy." Cobalt said, and drew a gasp from Terra and Skye. "We didn't know what happened to them, we thought they were captured or killed, but they're alive. So many others too from back when we were one pack, and they miss us."
"{They're… alive?}" Terra asked and looked at Skye. "{Then that means Spark still has friends in mom and dad's pack as well.}"
"{Oh shit… if it's really been three days… we have to get back there tonight…}" Skye muttered, and looked at her mom and dad again. "{Wait, have you been here this whole time?}"
"{Yes, we have, we've been watching over you this whole time.}" Maria said, gently holding Skye's claws in her own. "{We couldn't really watch while you were undergoing surgery, but at every available opportunity, we've been watching over you sweetie, waiting for you to wake up.}"
"{It's so surreal seeing you all grown up like this, when we first lost you two, you were so small and precious.}" Apoyo said. "{Now you're missing an eye, and both of your claws.}"
"{You-you must be so ashamed of us…}" Skye said, and looked down as tears streamed across her scales. "{Your precious babies, now mutilated and ferocious.}"
"{No, you're not ferocious, you're still our babies. We don't care what you look like, who you're with, we'll love you regardless.}" Maria said, which only ended up making Skye weep even more. "{You're both as bright as the sky, and as strong as the ground we named you after. You always loved looking up at the stars Skye; and Terra, we couldn't keep you clean as a baby, you just loved rolling around in the dirt. Please, just know that we still hold those memories dear to us, and that all of this doesn't change how we feel about you one bit.}"
"{B-but.. .we don't… it can't be that…}" Skye tried to say, but kept choking on the words.
"{Skye, it's alright.}" Apoyo tried to say.
"{Oh god… I… I can't even speak right! I can't even… we caused so much suffering… we've killed so many… but here you are!}" Skye sobbed as she held her mother tight. "{What have we done?! How can we ever come back?! We don't deserve your forgiveness, we don't deserve your love! Look at what we've become ever since we were torn from you!}"
Kenny could only watch and wipe away the tears in his eyes, he didn't know what to feel. Skye had nearly killed him, but she seemed genuinely broken inside as her mother held her tight and cried with her. Skye may be very talented, but she was still just a child…
Kenny had been walking back from the restroom, but paused when he heard Skye breaking down, and he sighed as he started moving back to Blue's room. Kenny was so confused; Terra and Skye had just tried to kill him and Blue, but he couldn't just listen to Skye weep and not feel anything.
"Kenny?" Blue asked when she saw him walk back into her room, and she noticed his eyes were wet. "What's wrong?"
"It's… it's Terra and Skye. They both sound so broken, so ashamed of what they did to us and other dinosaurs, and I'm not sure how to feel about it." Kenny said, looking back out at the door. "I feel like I should forgive them, but I just don't want to right now. I mean, I kind of want to, but- they almost killed you Blue!"
"Oh, I see." Blue said, leaning onto her belly to lay upright. "Well, I understand somewhat. Forgiveness can take time, if you hadn't heard what they said just now, it may have taken a lot longer."
"I haven't forgiven them yet Blue, and I'm not sure when I will." Kenny said as he looked back at Blue. "What should I do?"
"Well, would you go in there right now and forgive them?" Blue asked.
"No, I wouldn't. Besides the fact that they're still recovering physically and emotionally, I'm still not ready." Kenny confessed. "Maybe if they ask for forgiveness, I'd give it to them."
"If that's what you think is right, then that's what you should do." Blue said. "I've already forgiven them. Jess filled me in on their past this morning."
"You have?" Kenny wondered. "How could you do it so easily?"
"You might find this hard to believe, but I already forgave them before I ended up with scrap metal in my body." Blue admitted. "When I heard what they threatened to do to us the night before I ended up clinging to the cliffside, I was pissed, so very much. But hearing what they went through from Maria changed my perspective of the events. I put myself in their position, and tried to understand what they went through. That's why I kept trying to get Terra to listen to me, and avoid fighting him if I could"
Kenny leaned back against the wall, wondering how it went for Blue.
"I'm sure you know by now that I never knew my actual parents, the only figure I knew as a parent was Owen, and you know how I feel about that asshole. All I know is that the eggs me and my sisters came from were carried here by hungry pteranodons from another island in this chain." Blue said. "Terra and Skye never knew what that was like, they grew up with their parents for the first few months of their life. If I thought that humans killed my parents after I grew up with them, I'd probably sympathize with Terra and Skye more."
"I don't know how I'd react if I was in their situation, but if I had to guess, I'd probably react the same way. If I was told Charlie survived after I saw her get blown up, I'd be in denial too. It's just easier to accept that way." Blue added. "Then again, I'm almost 22 to someone like you, not 5."
"Sarah told me the same thing this morning." Kenny said. "She said they honestly believed their parents died, and that them wandering off which led to getting spotted made them feel responsible for the death of their parents."
"So, do you understand now? Not just what I said, but how Terra and Skye feel?" Blue asked.
"Yeah; yeah, I think I do." Kenny said, and came over to Blue to kiss her. "Thanks Blue."
"No problem Ken~" Blue said after they both pulled out of another kiss.
"I wonder what I'll get my mate for her birthday this year~?" Kenny chuckled and scratched Blue's chin.
"Well, I certainly look forward to whatever surprises you have planned~" Blue giggled, slowly licking his chin.
"I'm not interrupting anything am I?" Sarah asked, leaning on the doorframe with a smirk on her face.
"Nah, nothing too surprising." Blue chuckled.
"I can see that. Maria and Apoyo are here to see you." Sarah said, and stepped to the side to let them in, dimming the lights for Apoyo.
"Hey, I see that you're finally awake." Apoyo said.
"Yeah, how are… how are Terra and Skye?" Kenny asked.
"They're… they're still recovering." Apoyo said. "Terra's in pretty good shape, but Skye will have to be careful to avoid reopening her stitches. We'll have to help her around some until her leg heals up more. She's got a bit of a limp for the time being."
"How are you doing?" Maria asked.
"Eh, I hurt like hell, but I'll deal with it." Kenny said. "I guess the treatment is gonna be the same for me. Bedrest here, and no strenuous activities."
"Well, not quite." Sarah said, leaning against a wall as she looked at him. "We are going to let you head home today, but you'll have to keep your ribs safe. They got bruised a lot, and you're lucky they didn't break from the fall you must have taken. The stitches on your cuts will dissolve on their own, so there won't be any need for you to come back and get them removed."
"How about me?" Blue wondered. "It would be weird walking around with these metal staples in my side."
"We're going to remove those today and replace them with strong stitches." Sarah said. "Are you okay with getting them removed right now?"
"Sure, I don't see any reason why not." Blue agreed.
"Can I help?" Kenny asked, looking forward to the possibility of helping to heal his mate.
"Heh, sorry, but this kind of job is best left to a professional." Sarah said as she walked over to the sink to wash her hands.
"I am trained though, I was completing my final day of training at Jurassic World when it fell." Kenny noted. "Actually, now that I said that out loud, I'm probably not a pro."
"Oh really? What were you training to be?" Sarah wondered while putting on some medical gloves.
"I was training to become a surgeon and behaviorist. Basically, I would have kept the dinosaurs calm while they underwent medical procedures." Kenny explained.
"Oh I see. Well in that case, I'd be happy to have you as an assistant Kenny." Sarah agreed, and got out a needle and a vial of medicine. "Okay Kenny, I'm going to need you to keep Blue distracted while I administer some anesthetic to her injury. The staple removal usually involves minimal pain, but it's better to be safe than sorry, especially since threading the wound will likely be a bit more painful."
"You got it." Kenny agreed and turned to look at Blue. "Ready Blue?"
"Ready and willing Kenny~" Blue said and nuzzled him as he held her claw while making sure Sarah had easy access to her wound. "Heh, this reminds me of when you treated me for those injuries the InGen people gave me, as well as the compys."
"What did they do to you that resulted in Kenny needing to treat you?" Sarah asked after injecting the needle, drawing a hiss from Blue. "If it's alright with you that is."
"Well, it's actually pretty dark." Blue admitted. "But we trust you to not tell anyone."
"You know how you're cool with me and Blue being in a relationship like we are?" Kenny asked, and continued when Sarah nodded. "Well, a couple of InGen's mercenaries tried to force themselves on Blue. They actually would have had I not been there when I was."
"Holy shit… I've witnessed some fucked-up shit, but nothing as bad as that." Sarah said. "That's worse than Peter Ludlow breaking the leg of an infant tyrannosaur."
"Ooooh so that was Ludlow who did it. I actually read about that in your training book, you did a really great job in treating that one." Kenny said and softly rubbed Blue's claws while Sarah got the surgical staple remover ready.
"Heh, some people still give me hell for taking that baby to our research camper to treat it. I had a lot going on, and tossing off my jacket wasn't on the top of my head at the moment." She said. "I couldn't just leave the baby there to be Tembo's bait."
"Hey, I think you did the right thing." Kenny said as Sarah came over.
"Did the parents come?" Blue wondered. "With a baby as hurt as that, I don't imagine the parents would be far behind."
"Oh trust me, they weren't. Mommy and Daddy were very angry." Sarah chuckled as she removed the first staple. "They followed the scent to our camper and got angry when they found out the baby was inside. We didn't go there to heal dinosaurs, only document them, so we could only get the bone set and secure it so it wouldn't be likely to move."
"What happened after that?" Kenny asked.
"Well, it was actually something really sweet. They would have torn the camper apart if we didn't get their child out to them soon." Sarah said. "They must have known what InGen was doing there, and that we weren't with them, because when we gave them back their son, they smiled and left in peace. We couldn't understand each other at the time because translators hadn't been made yet, but our act transcended the language barrier. Maybe that child told them that we helped him feel better. Thankfully that T-Rex is actually really healthy now, and get this. He's actually mates with the daughter of the spinosaurus that attacked Alan Grant there."
"Glad they didn't attack you after. That would have sucked." Blue chuckled as more staples were removed. "And they're mates? That's really something special, since that spinosaurus father isn't exactly natural. Still though, hearing that his daughter is in a healthy relationship, that's really heartwarming."
"Life finds a way." Sarah chuckled. "Heh, my ex used to say that a lot. Chaos theory and all."
"Dr. Malcolm?" Kenny asked. "Yeah that guy was… really weird. He sounds like the kind of guy to say that we'd build a time machine to go back and see dinosaurs, and that if we stepped on a flower, we wouldn't be here because dinosaurs never would have gone extinct." Kenny said.
"Then don't step on any flowers, why do you hate flowers so much?" Sarah said, and smiled when Kenny laughed at what she said. "So, you said you encountered compys? How did that go for you?"
"About as well as you could expect." Kenny said. "They're like prehistoric piranhas."
"Don't I know it. One of the men in InGen's group was attacked by them. Picked almost fully clean." Sarah chuckled. "Must have been a pain to fight off a whole swarm of them."
"Oh it was. Ended up freezing them with a fire extinguisher." Kenny said. "Oh, by the way, if you're watching Isla Nublar, wouldn't you have known InGen was coming before, and couldn't you have stopped them?"
"Kenny, we're not exactly mercenaries or a paramilitary force." Sarah reminded. "While we do have a security team here, they aren't trained soldiers. They're more like game wardens."
"Oh, I see." Kenny said. "Has InGen ever tried to come here?"
"Nope, they don't even know we're here." Sarah said. "Simon Masrani established this place with this purpose in mind. He wanted to protect the dinosaurs on these islands, and give them a place to roam free. This place was even named in his memory after his death."
"Huh, he wanted to protect them, like me." Kenny said. "I still miss him. He understood dinosaurs like no other, he wanted them to have the happiest life they could have. That's why he hired me, he saw that I was just like him."
"Well, I'd say that Isla Nublar is safe under your care." Sarah replied. "As for Simon, I think he'd be proud of you if he was here now. Protecting the dinosaurs and fighting off any threats to their lives, while making sure they're safe both mentally and emotionally."
Knocking was heard at the door, and Sarah looked over at it after setting down the surgical stapler.
"Oh is that Jess?" Sarah asked and got up to open it, but looked down to see Terra standing there. "Oh hey Terra, is everything alright?"
"{K-kinda…}" He mumbled and glanced around her to look at Kenny. "{K-K-K-Kenny? D-do you have a m-m-moment? Me and my si-sister were… hoping we could talk.}"
Kenny held back a sigh and looked at Blue, who simply smiled at him.
"Go on." She whispered, and smiled when Kenny turned to head over to Terra.
"Yeah, I do." Kenny said, and Terra simply nodded as he led Kenny back to the room where Skye was resting on the bed. Cobalt went out of the room once Kenny and Terra went in to give them some privacy.
"{Kenny, do you… do you hate us?}" Terra asked, and Kenny was taken aback by the sudden question.
"Woah uh… honestly… ummm, no, I don't. I am a bit angry though." Kenny admitted after a short pause. "You tried to kill me and my mate, and she's going to have permanent scars from all of this."
"{You deserve to hate us. You really do.}" Terra sighed, and found himself looking away from Kenny as his eyes got wet. "{You almost lost your mate, and it's my fault she ended up like that. Not just her, but my own damn sister! It's my fault she's half-blind too!}"
"{No it isn't Terra, I wasn't paying attention that one time.}" Skye said, lifting her head up to remind him of that before putting it back in one of her claws.
"{But I… if I had just listened to Blue… none of this would have happened! She wouldn't have ended up with a huge shard of metal in her body, you and Skye wouldn't have almost bled out, and we wouldn't even be here!}" Terra protested, sniffing now as tears began to flow more freely from him.
"{T-terra… it's bo-both of our faults…}" Skye said, and Kenny noticed that her shoulders were shaking as she kept her face covered. "{We had every- you did nothing wrong Kenny, absolutely fucking nothing… if we had just listened to you from the very beginning, l-l-let you ex-explain yourself, then none of this w-would have fucking happened!}"
"Look, you don't have to blame yourself. You had every right to-" Kenny started to say before he was cut off by Skye.
"{That's not an excuse!}" She snapped, looking up to glare at him with her tear-stained eyes, and lifted up a claw to point down the hall. "{Your mate, the love of your life is getting staples removed right now! Staples that we caused her to get! Not you, US! Terra went to see her before you and I woke up, and later on he told me that she was still tired from losing so much blood! If we had just fucking listened to you for one goddamn second then none of this would have fucking happened!}"
"{We are so sorry for what we did to you two, and we don't deserve to be forgiven for the pain we inflicted on you. Our mother and father almost lost both their kids again, and she almost lost great friends!}" Terra cried as his sister weeped into her claws. "{We messed up so fucking badly, we did so much wrong, and we are just… so… so very sorry. We're sorry… we're sorry…}"
Kenny looked down in thought as Terra's tears fell to the floor. Right in front of and beside him were two kids who needed support and love. They were so broken and didn't know what to do after they hurt him and Blue. Kenny smiled as he reached a conclusion and got a tissue box, he promised himself right there that he was going to make two more friends today.
"I forgive you." Kenny said, not raising his voice as he gently wiped away Terra's tears.
"{Wh-what?}" Terra asked as he looked up at Kenny, eyes wide-open.
"I forgive both of you. I really do." Kenny said as he dried the tears off Terra's face. "While I'm not happy about what happened, I want you both to know that I truly am willing to put this behind us so we can all heal."
"{B-b-b-but it can't be that easy… there's no way you can… 'just forgive someone'.}" Skye said, peeking out of her claws to look at Kenny. Kenny simply smiled and came over to her to gently lower her claws and wipe away her tears as well.
"Well, why can't it be? Who would I be to deny your feelings, and to continually put you down when you obviously feel so much remorse for what you did?" Kenny asked as he took care of Skye. "I know that what you did was wrong, but you deserve better than to put yourself down, because right now, I don't want my new friends to do that."
"{F-f-friends? B-but… we tried to kill you…}" Skye gasped.
"So? You don't want to kill us now right?" Kenny asked, and Skye shook her head. "I'd say that we're friends now then~"
Skye didn't know what to say. Just last night she had kicked this man high into the air, tried to rip his throat out several times, and tried to choke him to death, and he just forgave her. She didn't want to believe that he could forgive her when she couldn't even forgive herself, but hearing him say that he did, and that he now considered her a friend, it made things so much easier for her. Skye reached out to Kenny with her arms, and felt her chest warm so much when he immediately hugged her back. She was so glad she had another friend.

"Thanks for giving us lunch too Sarah, we really appreciate it." Kenny said as he walked out to a shaded picnic area.
"Yeah thanks. I'm surprised that I'm already hungry." Blue agreed as she walked out with everyone.
"What? Blue, you had 5 hamburgers just 5 hours ago. How are you already hungry?" Kenny asked, and Blue could only grin sheepishly as she looked away.
"I'll go get her one of the deer we have in stock along with the rest of everyone's food." Jess said and walked away while everyone got settled in.
"So Skye, where did you get that rifle?" Kenny wondered, and Skye frantically shook her hands as she tried to stop Kenny from saying that, but it was too late.
"You have a what?!" Sarah asked, making Skye flinch. "Since when?"
"{Ummm, since a little over a month ago.}" Skye admitted.
"Don't you know how dangerous they are?" Sarah asked and pointed at the scar on Skye's neck. "What if you accidentally shot yourself or your brother?"
"{We know how dangerous they are, Skye's been careful with that stuff.}" Terra said. "{Skye made sure to not use it until she understood how it worked and how to aim with it. She did that because she didn't want to accidentally hurt anyone.}"
"{How did you practice?}" Maria wondered.
"{I started with tranquilizer rifles and those taser things the humans used. I wanted to stick to non-lethals until I got the hang of even holding the stuff.}" Skye said. "{Once I did, I started using a rifle that I found on main street to fight back against InGen.}"
"How did you manage that?" Kenny asked. "There were a lot of humans there capturing the dinosaurs."
"{Well, I started by biting one of the humans and kept him subdued until he went crazy. Then I set him on the others in the ferry center and let him go to work.}" Skye answered. "{When others came to investigate the attack, I got high up on the hill and started shooting at them.}"
"That was you?" Blue asked. "Damn you were good."
"I see." Sarah sighed.
"{Do you want me to stop using it?}" Skye asked. "{I'm sorry that I upset you.}"
"No, I'm just worried. You put in research into this, and I trust you're taking care." Sarah said. "You seem to know what you're doing, but please promise me you'll still be careful?"
"{Sure thing, you got it.}" Skye agrees as Jess brings out the food, and everyone starts eating before heading back.
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
"Oh my god… this is fucking AWESOME!" Blue squealed as she looked out the window of the helicopter and at the vast ocean. "I can see so far out, and I actually don't want to land right now! I love this so much!"
Kenny sat next to where Cobalt was, now fully dressed, and Cobalt could only smirk as he wondered what the view looked like for Blue. Kenny was happy that Blue was ecstatic for her first time flying, he was initially worried that she would have gotten motion sick, especially with the huge lunch she wanted to eat, but thankfully that wasn't a concern. Ever since they got into the air from Isla Matanceros, Blue was glued to the window, and no one could pull her away, not even to discuss the planning of how to rendezvous with Spark.
"Alright, so we're going to land next to the hotel and get my laptop, then drive over to Maria's area and talk with Veil about this." Kenny said. "Assuming Veil is okay with any friendly troodons coming to his territory, we'll contact Spark and request to meet with him."
"{Yep, that's the plan. And if Veil isn't okay with it, then we can find another place to relocate them.}" Skye agreed.
"Do you really think Spark will come if he knows I am?" Kenny wondered.
"{Honestly, no, I don't think so. We'll have to get you two in the same place though, he won't want to come live with a human who he thinks tried to kill him and his kids.}" Terra sighed.
"I'm not exactly keen on lying to him." Kenny admitted.
"{Neither are we, but we need to get this cleared up, and introducing you two to each other is the best way to do that.}" Terra said.
"{Well, if we do relocate any of the troodons, we'll have to do it at night. Unless you have more of these oversized shades.}" Apoyo said, looking around while wearing giant sunglasses. Kenny cracked a laugh at seeing him look around in those. He never would have thought those things would ever have a viable use.
"Well, whatever you all are planning back there, better finish it up now, cause we're starting to land. Get ready." Angela said from up front, and Blue came over to stand next to Kenny as the helicopter lowered to the ground with a soft thud soon after.
"Damn I love flying. When can we do it again? I can't wait to do it again! I want to go see the whole island!" Blue said as she hopped out of the helicopter and turned around to look up at it. Kenny could only laugh at Blue's excitement as they waved goodbye to Sarah, Jess, and their friend Angela. It was almost as if Blue hadn't nearly bled out a few days ago.
"Hey I enjoyed the views too, but I don't exactly have a helicopter… or know how to fly." Kenny chuckled. "Buuuuut, there is a gondola lift that we might be able to go on."
"Not might, will." Blue corrected, making Kenny laugh as his mate gave him an order.
"{Come on, we gotta get moving. We don't have long until sunset.}" Skye said, and led the group to the hotel through the garage, turning on the power on the way in. Once they got to the room where Kenny and Blue were staying, she cringed at the sight of the busted door and the shattered glass door. "{Heh… sorry about that… hopefully it won't be too hard to fix.}"
"Ah it's okay, I'm sure there are spare parts here for things like that. How hard could it be to install?" Kenny asked as he gathered his belongings from there. "Alright, I got everything. Now let's head to Maria's place."
"Do you think Veil will be up for living with troodons?" Cobalt wondered.
"Sure! He let you in didn't he?" Kenny asked as he hopped into his jeep.
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
"{Absolutely not.}" Veil said and started to walk away from Kenny when the latter started to follow him.
"But Veil, they aren't all bad. I mean look at Terra and Skye, they changed; and look at Cobalt, he was nice from the beginning." Kenny noted.
"{And you should know that aside from them, I find what you said to be very hard to believe.}" Veil said as he kept walking. "{Need I remind you that one of those troodons managed to bite one of our own? Do you have any idea how hard it is to administer tranquilizer without any thumbs?}"
"Veil, Spark is just concerned for his pack and his kids." Kenny said.
"{As I am for mine.}" Veil added. "{I'm sorry. I appreciate you thinking about us and wanting to inform me of this, but my answer is no. I am not okay with those troodons resting in the same area as my pack.}"
"What if they didn't?" Kenny asked, making Veil pause to look back at him.
"{Huh? What are you suggesting?}" He wondered, turning around.
"I understand you're concerned for your pack, and I do want to respect your decision. I also want to give Spark the respect I think he deserves as a great alpha, mate, and father. He and his children won't be safe as long as they're with Ciera, and I think that getting them out of that situation will ease up on tensions." Kenny said. "I was thinking we could offer them the old innovation center. It's dark thanks to all the flora, so they wouldn't have trouble seeing; it's secluded so they'd have privacy; and it's close, but not too close where it would feel threatening if tensions rose."
"{Hmmmm.}" Veil muttered, and Kenny stayed silent so that Veil could think on the matter. He wanted Veil to say yes, but he didn't want to make him feel like he was forced to agree. "{Alright Kenny, you convinced me. Hopefully they aren't as bad as I think they are.}"
"Thanks Veil, the others will be happy to hear that." Kenny said, and turned with a wave which Veil happily returned as the two parted.
"{So, how did it go?}" Terra wondered once Kenny came into a conference room in Maria's lab, a map of the island seen stretched out on the table.
"He's not too keen on them living here, but he is willing to give them a chance and allow them to live near us at the old innovation center." Kenny said.
"{So that means I can contact Spark now and arrange the meetup?}" Skye wondered, and opened up Kenny's laptop once he nodded. "{Cool. Alright, I'll just log out of your email and into mine.}"
"Wait, you have an email account?" Kenny asked, flabbergasted at that.
"{Well… yeah. Nothing says you need to be human to have an email account.}" Skye chuckled before emailing Spark to ask if he was available. Kenny looked at Blue to see what she thought, but she simply held her claws up.
"You got me." She said.
"{Oh man, he was really worried about us. Apparently he's been out looking for us for the past couple nights, and couldn't find us. He found the blood on mainstreet and at the bamboo forest, and he thought we died.}" Skye said. "{I'll tell him we were resting and that you did a real number on us. It isn't really a lie.}"
"I still don't like this, it feels like I'm deceiving him." Kenny sighed.
"{No, if anyone is, we are. It was our idea to do this.}" Terra reminded him. "{Don't forget that this distrust and violence will continue if a connection isn't made. Contrary to what you may believe, Spark is actually really nice. He just… he has a lot on his shoulders, and it's a ton of pressure for someone who's around your age Kenny.}"
"{Alright, he's willing to meet up with us at the monorail station at the triceratops territory. That's the closest access point to the pterano airstrip where they live.}" Skye said, pointing to the spot on the map. "{It's almost sunset, so we should get moving.}"
"Yeah, we have quite a drive to the closest monorail station." Kenny said, and everyone nodded as they got ready to go to the ferry station.
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
[1 hour later]
"I wonder what the view of the sunset would be like from up on top of the gondola station. If it's this beautiful down here, I can only imagine what it's like up there." Blue said, looking out the window at the red-orange sunset with her chin resting on her claws and her eyes half-lidded. "It must be so pretty~"
"We'll see it soon enough Blue~" Kenny promised and kissed the side of her muzzle as he watched the sun dip closer to the horizon.
"Hey Kenny?" Blue asked. "Who is this Dr. Malcolm guy that you and Sarah were talking about back at that medical place?"
"Oh, he's some scientist who dabbles in something called chaos theory. I think it's a study on the randomness of systems and the potential results any action may have on a sensitive system." Kenny explained, and Blue simply blinked. "He studies how actions can affect things in the long run."
"Why would they bring some guy like that in for evaluating dinosaurs." Blue wondered.
"Well, ever since the dinosaurs went extinct, the ecosystem adapted to their absence, quite a lot in fact." Kenny said. "Bringing dinosaurs back into a sensitive ecosystem could have world-changing consequences if it isn't managed properly."
"Did he think we should never have been brought back?" Blue asked.
"Yeah, he even thought Jurassic World was a colossal mistake, and used the destruction Gwen caused as justification of his statement." Kenny said.
"That honestly hurts. He can't hold us thinking, feeling creatures accountable for the actions of humans who want to play god." Blue sighed.
"Well, he thinks the people who created you dinosaurs were negligent, but I think he failed to take note of how every advancement made in the course of human history carried the same ramifications." Kenny replied. "The industrial revolution saw a spike in lung diseases from the burning of coal, the development of nuclear technology saw a rise in cancer; John Hammond wasn't just taking the next step when creating dinosaurs, he was being careful. Being negligent would be building Jurassic Park on the mainland, where people would be more at risk if an accident occurred."
"Kenny, if he knew that dinosaurs could think and feel, even talk and reason like humans… would he think we should still be marked for extinction?" Blue asked.
"Honestly, yeah, I think he would. He'd probably say that even if you could speak, that still wouldn't change the fact that you are changing the world." Kenny admitted. "What annoys me about that is the ecosystem adapts to changes in nature. Yes it may take an extremely long time compared to humans, but look at Australia, the ecosystem there is already adapting to the overpopulation of wild boars that were introduced there no earlier than… 50 years ago I'd say. With careful population control, the ecosystem can more easily adapt to the species. In spite of all that though, Ian still thinks that nature selected the dinosaurs for extinction, and that's because species pop up and die off all the time, not just because of deforestation or dam building."
"Isn't he a part of nature though?" Blue pointed out. "He may think nature is a godly force, but that still doesn't change the fact that humans are a part of it."
"Yeah, that's the main flaw I find in his reasoning." Kenny sighed, leaning back against the chair and looked out the window.
"Kenny, maybe we should stop talking about this, it seems to be annoying you, having to think about this and all." Blue suggested, stepping over to lean next to him on the seat. "All I want you to focus on is how you don't have to worry about any of that now. You're here, on this island, with all of us. Malcolm isn't here, so you don't need to pick apart his arguments. We still have a few minutes until we get to the triceratops area, so let's just enjoy the sunset."
Kenny was already looking out the window at the fiery red and orange skies, and the yellow glow the sun cast on the clouds in the sky, but he began to calm down and appreciate it more when he felt Blue's claws wrapping between his fingers. Blue softly rubbed his back with her other claw, and rested her head on Kenny's shoulder as the two of them watched the sun dip below the horizon.
"Thanks Blue." Kenny said, and felt his heart warm when Blue's response was to gently kiss his cheek as the monorail began to slow down. "Alright, looks like we're here, let's see if Spark is too."
Once the monorail tram arrived at the station, Kenny was the first to emerge from it, and no sooner did he step out to the middle of the platform did he hear a snarl and whirl around to see the troodon alpha charging him.
"{WOAH! WOAH! SPARK! STOP!}" Terra yelled as he came onto the platform. "{DON'T HURT HIM!}"
"{Terra?! What the fuck?! I thought this piece of shit killed you and tricked me!}" Spark asked after skidding to a stop, almost slamming Kenny into the monorail. Spark smiled at seeing Skye and Cobalt come out too, but then looked back between Kenny and them. "{Wait, you said you wanted me to meet you here alone, so why the fuck did you bring an armed human here? Especially this one!}"
"Spark, this isn't just any human. His name is Kenny, and he's actually very compassionate." Cobalt said, and Spark's eyes widened upon hearing that name.
"{Holy shit! You're Kenny?!}" Spark said, and Kenny nodded, slowly relaxing some when he saw that Spark wasn't as tense now. "{Fuck, I didn't know that was you at the dam. No wonder you let Luna go, you're a very nice human. I've heard so many nice things about you!}"
"You've… heard about me?" Kenny asked, tilting his head. "From where?"
"{From my mate. I guess… I guess you really didn't mean to attack anyone at the dam.}" Spark chuckled. "{Sorry about… you know, biting you and trying to drop you to your death and all.}"
"Umm, it's okay. I heard about what happened here when Jurassic World was first starting up." Kenny said. "I'm not holding anything against you."
"{Oh hello there, you must be Blue.}" Spark said, turning to face her. "{Wait, I thought you were dead?}"
"Who told you that?" Blue wondered.
"{Eh, it doesn't matter right now.}" Spark dismissed, and turned to Skye. "{Skye, what did you want to discuss with me? You said it was important.}"
"{Well, do you remember our parents?}" She asked.
"{Yeah? Kinda… I was very young at the time.}" Spark answered.
"{Well, meet our mom and dad.}" She said.
"{Hi Spark.}" They said, and Spark couldn't stop clicking and shuffling as he came over to the dilophosaurus and troodon.
"{No fucking way… holy shit! I thought you two died! You're so much older now!}" He cheered, looking around them to make sure he wasn't dreaming. "{How are you two alive? You were shot and twitching in that one river.}"
"{Actually, it turns out they weren't. Mom was just tranquilized and dad was hit with one of those taser boxes.}" Terra explained.
"{Really? But you said they were killed, what happened?}" Spark asked.
"Well, it turns out they thought we were killed because they were so very, very young at the time. They honestly believed we died.}" Apoyo said.
"{Oh, I see. Well, it's honestly really good to see you two again. I've really missed you two.}" Spark said. "{Anyways, why did you want to meet with me?}"
"Well, it turns out Sandy, Axe, and Jane are still alive." Kenny said, drawing a gasp from Spark, who turned to look at Cobalt. "It's not just Cobalt, so many others from your pack have friends and family alive. We came to see if you and them would want to leave."
"{We-we really have others alive? For real?}" Spark asked, looking at Maria and Apoyo, who nodded to confirm it. "{Uuuuuuuugh! Great, this is gonna be sooo easy.}"
"Ummm, sir? What's wrong? Aren't you happy?" Kenny asked.
"{Yes, well, no, fuck! I can't just leave my pack! I can't just desert them. Yes some really want to fuck over humans, but they're still my packmates!}" Spark groaned. "{If Ciera finds out I'm leading others away, then my kids are gonna be fucked.}"
"Well, if it ever comes to it, and if you would allow it…" Kenny said. "I'd keep them safe. I wouldn't let her harm them."
"{'Allow you'?}" Spark asked.
"Well, they are your kids, but I couldn't just let someone harm innocent kids who deserve to have a bright future." Kenny said, drawing a smile from Spark. "If it's any consolation, I do have an idea on how we can manage this."
"{Heh, so far, everything my mate has said about you is true.}" Spark chuckled, and turned around to face Kenny. "{What's your idea?}"
"What if you led groups or families away from the pack in intervals? Ciera may not notice or pay much attention if smaller groups leave every so often." Kenny suggested. "It wouldn't be as noticeable as it would be if you all left at once, and you can stay at the old innovation center."
"{I… hmmm… I actually like that idea. Ciera would figure it out sooner or later, but the more friends I can get away from her and her loyalists, the better.}" Spark said. "{Come on, let's go get my mate and our kids. Lilly is going to need help getting around though, well, maybe not. She just got used to her new legs.}"
"{New legs?}" Maria wondered.
"{Yeah, you'll see when you meet her. She's the sweetest girl you'll ever meet.}" Spark said as they all walked down the stairs and into the triceratops territory. "{Once we get to the treeline, you're all going to have to get super quiet so we don't blow our cover. We're already a big group as it is.}"
Kenny nodded and followed behind Spark as they entered the forest, and stepped as quietly as they could. Skye tightened up the straps on her cloak and made sure the gear she stocked up on stayed quiet. Everyone could hear other troodons stepping through the forest, and occasionally their feathers and glowing eyes glancing around as the group made its way through the airport. Spark glanced around and quickly ushered everyone into the main building.
"{Alright, wait here. I'm going to go tell my mate what we're doing, then we'll come down.}" Spark said, and everyone agreed to wait as he went up into the air traffic control tower. "{Blue, there's someone you're going to love to see, but I need all of you to stay quiet.}"
As they waited, Blue wondered who Spark could be referring to, she didn't really know any dinosaurs from before the park fell. She put those thoughts on hold though when he heard Spark coming down the stairs.
"{Alright, carefully everyone. Just follow me.}" Spark quietly said, stepping out from the door and leading a young dinosaur out that was just a little bit taller than Kenny's waist, and two more followed them down. "{Are you alright Lilly?}"
"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks though." A female voice said as Kenny saw what looked like gray prosthetic legs taking careful steps down the stairs. Kenny thought the voice sounded familiar, but when he could see her full body after she exited the stairs, Kenny knew why. The female gasped when she laid eyes on Kenny and Blue, and she couldn't find any words to speak as they ran towards the velociraptor with tears streaming down their faces.
"ECHO!" Kenny and Blue cried.
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
That's right peeps, Echo is alive.
Charlie and Delta are dead, but when I watched Jurassic World, I noticed that Echo got tossed in a similar way to Blue, and Blue survived. In fact, when looking back at that scene, it seems like Echo got bit and tossed aside, but Blue was thrashed around for a second before being thrown down the street. By no means though was it easy for Echo, as she did go limp when grabbed, but I have a plan for that~
Throughout the story I dropped the name Lilly occasionally, and the painting that Echo dragged back to their paddock that was framed was a hint that Echo survived. I really enjoyed writing Echo as being alive, because I feel like it brings hope to Blue again, and helps her to feel that she did the best she could the night the park fell.
As for Kenny, Terra, and Skye, I wanted to establish that it wouldn't be easy for Kenny to forgive Terra and Skye, at least initially; but I also wanted to showcase how Kenny knows the suffering that they went through, and how he doesn't want to be a dick. I wanted to write Terra and Skye feeling like they did, because I felt like it would strengthen the bond they made with Kenny when he helped them to forgive themselves as well.
The next chapter is gonna be really fun to write, and I can't wait to release it.
See ya next time on chapter 16: Elvis Has Entered The Building"
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
"Echo… I thought… I thought I was alone… I can't believe you're here… you're actually here!" Blue weeped as she held her sister close. "How… how is this real? How can you be here? And where are your legs?!"
"{Look, I am terribly sorry to interrupt this touching reunion and all, but we really should get going. We're not safe here, and we have to go before-}" Spark started to say, but froze up when he heard a door open down the hall.
"{Before what Spark?}" A voice called out, and everyone turned to see a troodon with glowing yellow eyes and crimson red feathers standing at the entrance to the building. "{You're not sneaking out again are you?}"
