Hey there everyone! The new chapter is out and on this one we will see how Law learned about Elga's mystery boy!

Also the story Give and Take has a new cover art. I am extremely happy about it and you can finally see in picture how Elga and Law look like as teenagers. It is made by my friend Pawa who is an artist so if you are interested for more of her work you can visit her accounts on twitter: Pawa_art and on Instagram: Pawa_art.

Anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter and have fun!

I don't own OP but I do own the oc and the extra characters!

LOVE YA ALL!

A few hours previously, the same day.

Law stepped inside the cozy library and the sudden change of temperature, from the chilling cold to the heart-warming heat of the place, made his cheeks and ears turn a light pinkish color. The familiar ring from the door's bell reached his ears and he couldn't help but close his eyes and take a deep breath.

He always felt snugly once his entered this space and the whole atmosphere never failed to take away all of his worries. The unique smell of old books, organized on high bookcases that reached the roof and hided unlimited knowledge on their pages, the wooden dark brown desks and chairs that decorated the left side of the library, in case someone wants to spend some time studying there instead of borrowing the book and the small also wooden statue, right at the middle of the room that represented a little girl sitting under a big tree while reading her favorite book.

All of these details felt like home for the said boy who didn't miss any more time and headed for his favorite medical department.

"Ah Law-san! I heard right the bell ringing! How are you doing?" the owner Mr. Hiroto , an old man on his 70s with a grey thick beard and small round glasses resting on his pointy nose, broke the silence and the boy turned his attention to him.

"Hello, Mr. Hiroto-ya I was curious to see the new arrivals." he answered and gazed again the numerous books on the huge bookcase in hope his eye will catch one he hasn't read yet.

"Ahh, I am afraid there won't be new arrivals for some days due to the heavy snowstorm that is about to come."

"Oh I thought the weather would have been milder once it is spring time already." Law replied while still searching.

"Oh well, what beats a good reading near the fireplace while snowing?"

"I will agree with that."

The boy's features were relaxed and a smile found place on his lips, something the older man didn't miss.

"You see, Law-san, I am relieved there are still people like you on this small town who are interested in books. Some time ago, there would be whole weeks until I see someone enter this place but then you appeared and you made me remember why I opened this library in the first place."

"What with the sudden change of mood Mister Hiroto-ya? Last week you were grumbling about why no one visits your humble bookshop and how many uneducated people live out there and now it looks like you found the meaning of life." Law asked with the teasing smirk.

"Well, this week is different! I had quite many visitors. I saw Elga-chan too, you work together right?"

The boy raised his eyebrows on this information, remembering what the girl had told him about the mysterious boy's name being behind almost every book.

"I would like to make a question if that's ok Mister Hiroto-ya. Is there someone else who borrows so many books as me on this Island? Probably a teenager too of male gender."

"I don't think so… I mean I would remember him. It is not like there are many who like reading books on this Island! If you are seeking for a specific name you can always search on the general borrowing list I keep. It contains the name, the date and the books' titles they borrowed." he explained and gave a leather black notebook at Law.

The boy placed the cups of coffee on a nearby desk and sat on the chair, taking a look at the notebook having an intense inner debate whether he should open it or not.

He tried to convince himself that he was doing it for Elga but honestly, this excuse didn't work on him that good. Deep inside he knew his pride was wounded. If the girl eventually discover this mysterious boy of her past, Law won't be her number one choice as she will find comfort on his rival's side.

However, he wanted to know.

He wanted to know what better had this boy from him just to prove his ego that the girl would never find someone greater than him in her whole life.

And so he opened the notebook on the last marked page and he searched firstly for the said brunette's name.

His eyes fell on different names, though the most books were borrowed by himself, when his index finger that followed the page's stripes stopped above a scrawled one with a familiar messy handwriting. He was curious to see the type of books Elga chose to read. He considered it a good opportunity to learn her favorite genre and maybe open a conversation later on their break while drinking coffee and eating those cookies. That would lighten her mood for sure and maybe took a step forward on the path of winning her heart back.

*We will see if she still thinks of the other boy after that!*, a smirk took place on his lips already preparing his know-it-all attitude and turned his focus on the books' titles.

'Modern Methods of brain surgery.'

*Ahh I didn't know she was into neurosurgery! Well, that's interesting! It even suits her ability… Maybe I should borrow too some neurosurgery books so as I can refresh my knowledge on this internship and teach her one or two tricks! This will surprise her!*

He continued on the next book with the title 'Ten suspects for death.'

He couldn't help but sweat drop on this one, thinking he should keep a close eye on her with the latest murder case. Though he wasn't at least surprised to find a mystery book on her list.

The last one was something he never imagined he would see.

'The History of White Town: Flevance.'

His stormy eyes widened and his face got pale like he saw a ghost that came back from his past to hunt him down again. He wasn't a man who believe in coincidences so how was Elga connected with Flevance? Did she learn about him but from whom? The only ones who knew about his sad past was Mr. Junk, Bepo, Penguin and Shachi and they had promised him with their lives they would never reveal this part of his past and he trusted them.

So if the girl didn't search about Flevance because of him… does it has to do with her own past? Is she a survivor too? He doesn't remember seeing her around on Flevance back then and neither went together at school. Also she doesn't seem to be sick with Amber lead syndrome or else her skin would be patchy at this age with white spots.

He thought it would be better to calm himself and not run into conclusions. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask her himself later and there is always this 1% that the girl was just interested on learning more about Flevance's history only for medical reasons, right?

No he had a bad feeling on his gut and his premonition was never wrong.

*Does it has to do with the boy you are searching, Elga-ya? She had referred his name is behind every book's last page, that is to say his name would be written inside this notebook at the same frequency as mine.*

His trembling hand would be a shame for Law's reputation as a good surgeon but at the moment he couldn't care less as this bubbling feeling on his stomach grew every passing second.

First page, second page, third page, tenth page, seventeenth page, thirtieth page and he continued the flipping but he could only see only his own name written on the most lines with his characteristic elegant handwriting and the initials 'TDWL'.

No this couldn't be true… All the pieces of the puzzle mirrored his image and Law knew this situation couldn't be a coincidence.

If that's the case and for an unknown reason his past self helped her get through a difficult situation of her life, she is expecting to meet the same boy from back then.

But the problem is that he is not the same anymore.

The conversation will lead for sure to his dark decisions of the past as she will be curious about what happened to him and how he is still healthy and alive.

He couldn't tell her about Donflamingo or the fact he was the cause of Cora-san's death. At least just yet and not until she could get to know the present him, right?

Who is he kidding? Nothing changed. He is still a weakling coward who hides himself from the worst man he could even put in his life.

What is Elga going to be proud about from all of these and who is going to lean on?

As he understands now, the girl is on a crucial period of her life and needs to hang on from someone in search of support. And who would be better from the person that helped her on her past too.

He really needed to know how Elga knows about him.

But he was afraid.

For the first time after a year and so, he was afraid.

He thought he would be free of whatever connected him with his sad past and the idea of beginning a new life as Pleasure town's doctor was quite enticing.

But deep inside he knew sometime he had to face all of his fears and these dreams were just a glass bubble that surrounded him as a coping mechanism to protect him from the real pain of reality.

He would never had a normal life and he was aware of it but just yet he wanted to hope for it.

And then this discovery popped and Law let all of his demons out of his heart's prison to hover around his mind.

It was the worst scenario ever. The mystery boy is indeed better than him and what Elga didn't know is that this boy died on Flevance's holocaust many years ago. Law is just an imitation of him, a different soul living on the same though healthier body. He hardly remembers how is to live a normal life and so, is he capable to support Elga and meet her expectations?

If you asked him, the answer would be negative and once he realized he can't be better than Elga's mystery boy…

Law decided to save the girl from a great disappointment.

With a blank face and his infamous hat covering his glassy eyes, he stepped outside of the library and lifted his head so as to feel the small snowflakes melt on his hot skin.

He was eager to feel something, anything! He knew it was the healthy reaction after a shock as he had read on so many medical books but unfortunately he was blank inside. His eyes dry, probably he couldn't cry anymore after so many tears he had shed on the past. His hands cold and shaking, dropped the two cups of coffee on the ground and he turned his gaze on the brown spot above the snowy ground leaving a sigh escape his lips.( I guess he will never drink this so wanted coffee lol)

He checked the time on the town's clock tower and realized he was already late. Maybe some paperwork would make him forget about his current problems and so he headed for the clinic with heavy and slow steps.

"I am back home!" the girl spoke while taking off her shoes at the huge hallway of her house and changed into her slippers.

The house looked almost like a mansion with gardens surrounding the area that contained all the different flowers that existed at the whole North Blue and the inside of it looked non the less, with a tall staircase leading at the upper floors and right and left two other big hallways coming from the central one, decorated with different statues of men and women on romantic poses.

Immediately, a maid approached the said blond girl and took her short heeled shoes so as to polish them and place them back on her master's shoe organizer.

"Lady Lana, your father insisted to see you as soon as you arrived back home." the woman on a maiden uniform said and the blonde rolled her eyes in irritation.

"Fine fine, I am going to see him now."

"He waits for you on the main living room while he takes his elevenses at the moment." she informed her and without sparing another glance the girl headed for the said room, passing from many other fancy ones with the same decoration.

Once she reached the main living room in a Victorian style design, the welcoming smell of the freshly picked flowers hit her senses and let a hum in satisfaction.

"Ah, Lana my daughter I was waiting for you!"

Though at the sound of her father's voice the said girl left a silent grunt and sat right beside him on an expensive leather sofa, next to the fireplace.

"Shall I offer you some tea my dear?"

"No father just shoot what you wanted to tell me."

"What an attitude! I didn't pay the best tutors for those manners my dear! You will never get a good husband like that!" he scolded her and the girl just crossed her hands on her chest in irritation.

"So, tell me. Did Law-san proposed to you yet?" the middle aged man asked all curious.

Mister Bernard Amancio de Sa is a strict man that went through many difficulties on his life but succeeded on creating probably the best chain of bakery stores on North Blue as a result he is one of the richest men of the northern seas. Though his mindset is not as broadminded as someone would expect and especially when it came on his only daughter's life.

His inability to walk after a serious accident that costed his wife's and Lana's mother life and his spinal cord's wholeness, never seemed to affect him when it came on his daughter's future and so he made the point he would be active on Lana's choices of life.

Well maybe a bit too much active.

"Father, we are not a match with Law-kun."

"That's nonsense! You just don't try enough! But remember my dear that you won't be young forever and this boy is the best candidate for a groom! You are a woman which means I can't entrust my business to you and your cousin Carlos, due to his health issues, can't take this burden on his shoulders. Law-san is a capable young man and currently the best surgeon on this island as I was informed. He can easily manage my business as skilled as he saves lives!" he explained and took a sip from the hot liquid on his cup.

He brought his free hand on top of his wheelchair and pushed it so as to come closer to his beloved daughter.

He lovingly held her own hand tightly and looked right into her eyes.

"My dear, Lana. Sun of my life. I will finally be at peace if I see you happy with a good man by your side."

"B-but Father! I don't want to get married just yet! I want to travel the world and see new places!" she honestly answered him but the man couldn't hide his saddened gaze.

"I can't allow that… Your mother was a dreamer just like you and look what happened! I lost her forever! I can't lose you too! You have to try harder and win Law-san's heart. Don't disappoint me.", he replied and removed his hand from hers.

The blond turned he eyes on the flickering fire and closed them feeling the tiredness overwhelm her. She was exhausted of trying to meet her father's expectations from a small age but he was her only support in life after her mother's death. It was a stigmatizing tragedy especially because the deceased woman was more open-minded and the family's sound of logic. Nevertheless, Lana loves her father with all of her heart and she will follow her mother's last wish, 'be a good daughter for your father because he is going to need you from now on'.

She took a deep breath and her eyes burned with determination while mirroring a shimmering flame. She was going to be a complimentary daughter, the best one a father ever had.

"I won't disappoint you father."

*This plan I put on action is the beginning of your end Elga. Law will be mine one way or another!*
