Long time no update. I really am very sorry. Life happened. But I want to get back into this. So I am not promising anything but I will see how it goes. Also don't own HP.

Allons-y

When Hermione stepped out of the fireplace in the headmasters office to find the room empty she had to admit there was a sigh of relief. Her defiance was going to have a consequence at some point. She was truly grateful that it wasn't in the thirty seconds of her return though. She quickly took her leave, not wanting to risk her luck with an encounter. Instead she made her way to the Great Hall. Wanting to surprise Lily, Hermione hadn't told her that she was returning yet. Dorea had sent her daughter back to Hogwarts with a new sense of belonging and a whole new trunk of muggle clothes and some slightly more fancy articles that Hermione's practical nature was unsure that she would ever need really. While Charlus had had given her access to his library to take whatever she wished with her for light reading. It was going to take her some time to get used to having parents again. That thought especially hurt Hermione. She had become so used to being alone that it felt odd and like she was betraying her muggle parents in a way. Dorea and Charlus were good people whom cared for her deeply, not just for her mission but for her. Hermione knew they were not out to replace her parents, but they wanted her to have something tangible in her new life. Honestly she was surprised just how quickly her adoption had come together. One minute James was awake and the next she was signing a legal document. Smiling to herself Hermione couldn't wait to see Lily and her reaction to the news. A soft spoken voice cut through her pulling Hermione from her excitement.

'Well, well look how it is. Gryffindor's darling has finally decided to return to Hogwarts.' Severus was sitting on a bench just outside of the Great Hall. Hermione's heart sank. Nothing good ever came out of her conversations with her future Professor.

'Hello Severus'

'So when will you be receiving your punishment, or are you special to receive detention?' the cunning smile on his face didn't do much to ease Hermione's growing annoyance.

'As lovely as it has been talking to you I have elsewhere to be so if you aren't going to get to your point I'm leaving.' As she turned away from him Hermione for a split moment thought that she may have managed the impossible. Leaving a conversation with Snape without wanting to throttle him. However like the persistently annoying snake he was nothing in life could be that easy.

'I know the Marauders secret Hermione Granger. And I will soon have that beast expelled.' Hermione's temper flared. If he had known anything he would have already started the rumor but no instead he was fishing for something and she was not going to be the one to take the bait. Clenching her fist and digging her nails into her palms it took everything in her power not to let him have it. He still meant something to Lily and that was enough right now to save him from a lashing of her tongue.

'Firstly Severus, it is Hermione Potter now and secondly. The only beast here is you. How would Lily feel to know you have tormented me not once, not twice but three times regarding you stupid theory. In fact didn't she stop talking to you for a while there because of this obsession you have.'

'Is that a threat?' his black eyes zero in as he readied for his attack. Hermione could see his hand itching closer to his wand. Rolling her eyes, she couldn't understand the need for his dramatics. It's not like she was asking him to duel for his honor. As calmly as she could Hermione responded to the drama queen.

'No actually that is a fact. I know you love Lily and would hate to lose her. So this is me warning you that if you can't bare for that to happen, then you can still change.' Hermione could see the struggle in him in this moment. Snape had always loved Lily from the time he was a young boy. She could see that bringing Lily into this moment had thrown him in a way he was not prepared for. And that was pissing him off.

'I don't need to change anything, it's not me whom is putting the students at risk keeping a werewolf within my dormitories.' His smiled turned dark as he believed he'd won this round when the truth was there was only one person playing the game.

'I don't have time for this.' Hermione walked away finally this time. She honestly couldn't take it anymore. Hermione knew that Snape had been infatuated with this secret during his time at Hogwarts but this was truly something else to witness. He was skulking around trying to get them to confess something that they would rather take to their graves. Putting a smile on her face as she entered the Great Hall. Within the moment she heard a familiar squeal of excitement as Lily ran towards her. She really had missed Lily and it was like the encounter with Snape hadn't even happened. He could try and get the secret from her lips, but honestly only an idiot would feed Snape's fixation.

Sirius had, had enough of Snivelous and his unrelenting interest in his friends furry little problem. It was time to sort this out once and for all because he sure as hell wasn't going to let him harass his friends any longer. It was the full moon tonight and he had been wanting to put the greasy git in his place for months. Vixen would not approve of this but frankly at this moment her couldn't give a toss. He deserved what was coming to him.

'Hey Snape' the snake stopped and visibly tensed as he approached him. Sirius almost felt pridein this. At least the git knew his place in his eyes.

'What do you want Black?' his acidic tone was nearly enough for a thrashing but Sirius had something much better in mind for him

'Hey I'm here out of good graces right now check your tone'

'What do you want?' Sirius was quickly losing his patience with the greasy black haired git. But could only think of how amazing the look on his face would be. He just wished James was here to see it.

'I am here to give you something that you desperately wanted and have wanted for way too long to be honest if you got laid every now and again you wouldn't fixate on this' he could barely contain the smile spreading across his face but the sweet reward. Not to mention the discomfort on Snape's face when he mentioned getting laid. Everyone knew the only bird he wanted was Lily but that was never going to happen.

'Your point' the greasy git was trying his patience.

'Do you wanna know the secrets of the Marauders or not?' Snape's eyes went wide like he was a child who had been handed the key to a candy store. It took all of Sirius' will power not to laugh there and then. The greasy git was going to get his just desserts and it was going to be sweet.

Hermione had been looking forward to seeing Lily for quite some time. Everything with James happened so quickly, if hadn't been for Lily's owls she would have gone insane. The moment the red head had seen Hermione her sprinting hug nearly knocked her off her feet. Until thing changed as fast as she'd ecstatically hugged her Lily's temper flared. And this was a dangerous thing. Pulling her abruptly onto a bench of the Gryffindor house table. Lily began speaking at a million mile a minute.

'Why did you do it Hermione? I mean I know why but still. Of all the families, why oh why did you have to pick his. Now I will feel positively awful when I call him a toe rag because, well you know. But why did you have to become a Potter? You would have made a much better Lupin, not that that was really an option but please a Potter and you minx you didn't tell me' Lily's green eyes filled with a weird combination of hurt, anger and disapproval.

'Firstly did you breathe at all during that and secondly how do you know already' if it was Sirius Black she was going to knock him into next week.

'Please that is the juiciest gossip in the dorms since Rilla Coil got caught cheating on her boyfriend. So I ask again, why Hermione, why did you do it and not tell me immediately?' at least her anger had given way to the normal teenage displeasure.

'Why do I do anything Lily? I wanted to tell you in person not in a letter. Dorea and Charlus offered me a home, something I had been sorely lacking since arriving here.' Hermione reached reassuringly for her hand.

'I know why and I am sure they are lovely people. Not to mention this is really kind incredibly of them. But you are now you're his…his…' Lily exaggerated struggling with the word. As if to say it out loud she might be physical sick.

'Yes Lily I am his sister. It is not a dirty word you know. Honestly you are taking this much better than I thought you would be'

'Do I have to be nice to him now? If I insult Potter will I insult you?' Hermione couldn't help but laugh at her. Lily's biggest issue with everything was the possibility she may have to be kind to James. Knowing what Hermione did this was hysterical.

'Are you kidding he might be my brother but he is still a prat'

'Oh thank goodness, the thought of being nice to him made me nauseous for a second' Lily's laughter only made Hermione laugh even harder. These moments almost made Hermione feel like a normal sixteen year old girl.

Hermione had been waiting for this since she returned to the castle. She had been summoned to the headmaster's office undoubtedly for him to lecture her on her current conduct and insubordination. As far as Hermione was concerned she'd done nothing wrong, so all that was about to transpire was simply words or the splitting of hairs. As she entered his office he didn't even bother to turn and face her instead he stared out the open window.

'So it would appear you have been busy Miss Granger' his voice was cold and emotionless. He was mad she knew this but she also knew better then to underestimate the man standing before her. He was calculating. She did not ever know him to be flippant. Everything he said had a purpose whether or not that was apparent in the moment was another question.

'It's actually Miss Potter these days thank you Professor. And as promised I would return once James had awoken' It was the first time she'd officially said it out loud and even though he had not seen it in that moment Hermione held her head a little higher. Whilst she loved and would honor her parents she would also treat her new family with the same respect.

'My mistake… Miss Potter. I am most pleased that young Mr. Potter is well, but I also take it you are aware that there was an attack on another muggle family in your absence. It was my understanding that you were here to make a difference. You have certainly flourished here but I wonder if you have lost sight of what's truly important. After all you were sent to me for a reason weren't you?' She'd been waiting for this however it didn't mean it didn't hurt like hell. The rage festered and bubbled underneath her skin threatening to boil over at any moment. As Hermione approached her headmaster she tried to speak remain composed even if she didn't feel like it particularly in that moment she knew this was him testing her reactions.

'I'm sorry headmaster but I fear it is you whom have lost the perspective in this. I have done everything you have asked and more if we are being completely honest. You sent me and my friends on a wild goose without any real information in hopes that we could destroy the Darkest Wizard history has ever seen. When that failed you then you ask me to give up everything I had ever know to come back to an undisclosed time with no way of ever returning to those I love. Then you have the audacity to question my motives.' The two didn't look at each other at all during this exchange instead they continued to gaze out of the headmaster's window onto the courtyard. He observed the student sitting studying sitting the alcoves of the walkways.

'You have let your guard down Miss Gran…Potter the ones you love here and now will be the first to be hurt of worse..' This was the words that caused Hermione's already angered state to finally snap.

'Where the hell do you get off? I am doing what you want? You have something that Voldemort does not you have…a wealth of information that I handed you on a silver platter no less. Everything you could possibly need to defeat him is at your fingertips and yet you stand here chastising me for what finding some peace in a time where everything feels so foreign.' As the tears began to run down her cheeks Hermione only became mad at herself as her was anger often resulted in tears. 'What more could you possibly want from me Headmaster? Because I can tell you that if there was even a moment that you have doubted that I am not here for the people I love then you are an old senile fool, whom clearly has no idea what I am willing to do to protect the ones I love so I suggest you refrain from whatever you are insinuating.' A small smile crossed his lips and all Hermione wished she could do was wipe it off his face. Maybe she'd been hanging around with Sirius for too long.

'I am simply reminding you that every action has a reaction and of late you have been making ripples in a pool that is dark deep and dangerous. It just so happens you have become a fixation of his thanks to young Mr. Pettigrew. Was that your intention Hermione?' and there it was what he was really meaning to say the whole time. Dumbledore was notorious for leaving out the critical piece of information until it suited him. It was one of the many reasons the in her timeline they'd had such a hard time in their Horcrux hunting. They were only given a fraction of the picture. Ron, Harry and herself had been expected to save the wizarding world with fragments of information.

'You know damn well it wasn't…'

'Yet it has happened. Did you think much would change once Peter was distanced from your group or were you too focused on the smaller picture? Did he not deserve a chance to change or was he beyond redemption?' Had he truly asked her this? She knew the kind of man that Peter was in her time and so did Dumbledore. She'd shared her memories with the man and yet he still asked her this here and now. There was an amount of guilt that still sat in her chest about how she'd secured his departure in the boy's lives but the thought of there being one less threat within their inner circle was enough for Hermione to live with.

'You know what he did.' Hermione said a matter-of-factly.

'What he was going to do.'

'There is good and evil in everyone. Some of us just choose the darkness he'd made his choice. He was and now possibly still is going to cause so much heart ache and loss. You ask did he deserve a chance for redemption. If he was truly capable of it then I would say no he isn't beyond it. Redemption is something easily given Albus. It is earnt. For his actions, his words they show little to no interest in such a thing.' Hermione turned from the window, feeling this whole exchange was a waste of her time. Dumbledore was simply playing with her and she couldn't stand his presence for one more moment. The rage boiled in her blood, she wanted to scream. His icy voice cut through her as she reached for the door.

'You are much wiser then you are first perceived Hermione yet I wonder if you let your emotions jade your view. You are free to leave now however next time I call you it will be time for another mission.' Turning back to him, he finally turned to her. His cold blue eyes bore holes into her. He had tried and succeeded to rattle her and they both knew it. Hermione had spoken her truth though satisfied with her answer there was some disappointment.

'Consider me aware headmaster' Hermione shut the heavy wooden door behind her.

The day thankfully passed with little interruption. Though it positively killed Hermione with its slowness. There had been any things she had missed when James was recovering. And the full moon had been one of them. She hoped to run in the forest until day break. Releasing the pent up fear and frustrations. It was now a waiting game with Sirius.

The familiar rush was streaming through her veins. She could feel the nimble fox running under the surface of her skin. As jittery as she was Sirius was worse. He had been pacing for at least thirty minutes, in front of the fireplace as she attempted to read a book from the Potter library. Nothing could spoil tonight Hermione thought to herself

'Vix, I think I have done something stupid' the guilt on his face was palpable. The last time he looked like this he drunk himself stupid and took up that disgusting smoking habit.

'What else is new, what happened? You haven't been with Rilla have you?' Hermione joked, trying to tease the serious Sirius. Whatever it is surely couldn't be as bad as he was making it out to be.

'What no, just no. I have done something worse.' He refused to look at her.

'Pads what did you do?'

'Please don't hate me we need to fix it.' He pleaded to her.

'Sirius, please you're scaring me?'

'I…I…I told, told Snape how to get into the willow' it was written all over his face. The concern and remorse. How long had he been trying to pluck up the nerve to tell her? Had he waited too long by now? Too many questions ran through her mind. But one thing was prevalent, she needed to get to the willow and she needed to get there fast. She could hear his voice but not his words. She couldn't focus on him.

'Please…Vix…Hermione he wouldn't leave you alone or Lily. He has hounded us for years, no matter what we do he just wouldn't stop. I just couldn't handle it anymore. He deserves a taste of his own medicine.' Hermione's mind began to swim. What had he done?

'What about Moony, huh? Did you think of him at all? How it will destroy him if he hurts someone. By the positively idiotic look on your face of course you didn't. You are a fucking moron Sirius. You only think of the small things. This is too far you will be lucky not to be expelled you fool' Sirius reached for her hand before he could seize it Hermione pulled it away. 'Don't you dare touch me right now, you will be lucky if I make it in time.' His grey eyes looked for comfort, but she refused to give him any peace.

'Don't you mean we' His grey eyes search for something in hers but Hermione felt nothing but hatred for him in that moment.

'You've done enough for now, go to Dumbledore now. Tell him everything.' without thinking twice Hermione took off at a sprint. He could've ruined everything. She would have to figure that out later for now there was no time to waste. She could hear him calling for her, asking her to wait for him but she couldn't. She wouldn't. Not this time. How could he been so stupid, this wasn't supposed to happen this way. James was supposed to stop Snape, this was how Lily's affection would begin to change. This is how she would see James's other side and now Sirius had ruined it. If this messed with her best friend being born she would curse Sirius into oblivion. She had to stop Snape before it was too late. If Remus attacked him, he would never forgive himself. Her lungs began to burn, and a cramp took its place in her ribs.

Hermione berated Sirius in her head, if anything it fueled her limbs to not give up. She needed to reach Snape. That's all she could think about. She needed to reach him before it was too late.

She was so close now, she could see the tree. A dark figure was there, was it him, please let her make it. She begged her limbs to move faster. Carry her like the wind. She started screaming his name. Begging him to stop. Could he hear her yet? With a flick of his wand the trees branches ceased to move. Immobulus.

She screamed his name at the top of her lungs. He stopped for a moment looking back at her. She could see his lips moving but she was too far to hear the words. He quickly moved to the trees trunk crossing the threshold into the long corridor that leads to the shrieking shack. She was so close.

Crossing into the trees hidden interior Hermione had to be careful now. Moony would smell her soon enough, but first he would smell and hear the intruder. She couldn't let that happen.

'Potter, what are you doing here?' he said with aggression dripping in his words. All Hermione could think was he was loud.

'Shut up I am here to save your miserable freaking life now come back to me slowly and for god's sake be quite' she viciously whispered

'And why would I do that?'

'Because you are smarter than this and Lily will be hella mad if you die. Now get back HERE!' before he could move another inch, loud thrashing and the sickening cracking of bones came from door just ahead of them. They were nearly out of time. Hermione knew Moony was now taking over and any semblance of her Remus would be gone. They were in real danger.

'Please I will answer any question you have you just have to leave here. Please Severus, you have to trust me he will attack you. You are a stranger in a very hostile situation.'

'He is one isn't he?' Hermione help out her hand waiting for him to take it. She desperately needed him to take her hand in that moment to save Severus, to save Remus from the guilt that he would have. To save them both.

'Later, please just move'

He reached his hand to her, in a brief moment Hermione could see this ending without Moony knowing they were there. Her heart for a moment felt relief. Before he could take her hand the closed door behind them was ripped off of its hinges.

In front of them stood Moony.

It might seem a little rusty but I will work on the new chapter soon hopefully. Please enjoy and please don't worry about the grammar. Yes I suck at it but just enjoy.
