Here's a new chapter everybody, and in this one we'll get to see a few things, that are well interesting. Heheh.
Also, I'll be leaving out the Scarlemagne scenes in this one, because most of you already know what happens. I want this to be focused on our 'two' main character's.
And in this one, hope you brought a pair of headphones and got something to listen to music with, you're going to need it~
Chapter 17
To Catch A Deathstalker
After getting the directions they needed to find Leo and Song's old burrow, the group had a quick bite to eat before moving out. As dusk settled upon the ruined city, a whole flock of flamingo's came up on them, and they've managed to avoid getting spotted. But these birds were relentless, in there search.
They were using large fire fly's as search lights to try and spot them.
However what they didn't know was that they were good at hiding, Chris poked his head out of an old car, watching the birds and lights disappear.
" We can't stay here much longer. " Chris said quickly ducking back into the car, with Kipo and Wolf emerging in the front seats. " Alright Wolf, what does that map tell us? "
" Fastest way to get to Kipo's parents old Burrow is through there. " She lowered the drawn map looking forward to a large set of bones in front of an old building. " Death Stalker territory. " As the tensions seemed to grow grim Dave popped up.
" Death makes anything instantly more scary, Death Dave. " The bug gave himself a nickname.
" Uh, having anything with the word Dave instantly makes it less scary. " Benson disagreed with what the bug said holding Mandu.
" Guy's this is serious, we have to be careful once get in there. " Chris said bringing the mood back to being serious with Wolf explaining the details.
" He's right, Death Stalkers don't hunt by sight or smell, they track you through your heartbeat. If your heart races, your good as dinner, got it? "
" Got it. " Kipo replied as a flamingo came flying over them. Quickly as the light came by, Chris ducked her head down while everyone did the same.
" Were clear! " Benson informed. " Go! Go! " They raced out of the car getting behind a large concrete slab that was on a telephone pole.
" We could go through the mountains.. " Wolf suggested the alternative. " It'd be safer, but it would take a couple of days.
" We don't have a couple of days! " Kipo said As she was about to go, Chris put a hand over her mouth.
Quickly enough he sighed and went to put her at ease. " Kipo, I know your worried, but you need to calm down. Okay? " He asked and she nodded as he took his hand off her. " As much as I don't like the idea, we don't have much choice. We need to get that burrow soon as possible. "
After a flamingo flew by Chris moved forward getting in front of a pinata store. motioning them inside before ducking in, just as another flamingo came flying by.
" Stupid birds...Were not gonna make it at this rate! " Chris whispered in annoyance.
" I Know! We need to lose those flamingos! " Kipo agreed.
" You're both right. We need a diversion. " Benson said.
" I know what your thinking... " Dave said to his best friend. " Tea cup chop-chop or Scootin' Shoot? "
" No... " Benson was now thinking. " We need something bigger. " He spotted a few oxygen tanks instantly getting an idea. " The Flaming Phantom! "
" Perfect! " Dave was on board while everyone else was confused.
" Uh, what in the world are you guys talking about? " Kipo asked.
" We split up. " Benson said heading over to the tanks while Dave scavenged for stuff to use. " Dave and I will create a diversion to distract those flamingo's, you get to Death Stalker territory.
" We'll catch up to ya later! " Dave said for reassurance
" You guys sure about this? " Chris questioned still having a bit of doubts. " You could get caught. "
Dave chuckled as he pulled out a small rainbow. " We got this, Benson and I are gonna do some bad things... "
" Chris, Kipo, they're right. " Wolf spoke up. " It'll be impossible to calm down while being chased by scorpions and flamingo's. Splitting up is defiantly the fastest way without getting us all killed. " Chris nodded in agreement and both turned to Kipo who thought about it before giving her awnser.
" Okay, but be careful. "
" Oh! " Dave turned to Benson. " Do you still have that can of cheese? "
" Indeed I do my friend! " Benson tossed the can over to the bug. " We'll use Mandu for the mustache. " Hearing this the pig hid between Chris and Kipo's leg in fear. However her mind changed once Dave started spraying a trail of cheese and started eating it going outside with Benson explaining the details of the plan.
" When you hear an explosion... "
" Two! " Dave jumped up correcting him. " Flaming Phantoms is two! "
" Sorry, two explosions that means your good to go! " The remaining trio exchanged a look of confusion as they watched Benson get to the middle of the street. " Hey flamingos! Over here! " He called out and got there attention, immediately they gave chase. Seconds later an explosion was heard causing the ground to shake including Bensons laughter. Then as they peaked through the door one of the oxygen tanks came flying and exploded a few feet away from them.
" I guess that's our que. " Wolf said as they got out.
" No time for standing around now, let's go. " With those words said Chris, Kipo and Wolf made a run for it heading straight into Death Stalker territory entering through the bones.
" I sure hope they'll be okay. " Kipo said as they made their way through.
" Hey, the last time they did that was when we escaped from the Mod Frogs and an angry Mega Bunny. " Chris reminded her. " We gotta away because of them, so I'm sure they'll be fine. "
" Likewise. " Wolf agreed as they climbed down the front of the skeleton. " Kipo, listen about these scorpions, it only takes on sting to knock you out cold. Then they drag you back to their lair to prepare you for dinner. Nothing is immune to their venom. Not even a Mega. "
" Except for snakes. " Chris said. " Remember when you tried to use it on the Umulat Snakes? It didn't work on them. "
" Oh yeah, that's right. " Kipo remembered. " Okay, now I'm gonna try to remain calm. " She then realized the giant skeleton they walked through was the remains of a mega. " So calm. I'm gonna look at my hands. My calm...calm hands...I am all serious! "
" Well your arm says other wise. " Wolf said cause fur sprouted from Kipo's arm. She quickly did what she was taught.
" Herbs in...Herbs out. " The fur went away. " Okay, got this...I just gotta be cool. " Wolf stopped making them pause.
" In hail for four counts... " She in hailed her breath. " Exhale for eight. " She did that. " That's how I keep my heart rate down. "
Seeing how uncomfortable she was Chris gently took her hand. " I gotcha. "
" Thanks Chris... " This seemed to calm her down quite a bit, and repeated what Wolf taught her. " In four four...*inhales* Out for eight...*Exhales*. Keep your cool...Now you're great. "
" Everything ok? " Wolf asked looking over to her with a bit of concern.
Kipo chuckled a bit nervously. " Oh yeah. I'm rhyme timing. In for four, out for eight, keep your cool, now you're almost but not really, hardly at all, great. " They skidded down a large hole in the street. " This is kind of intense huh? "
Quickly enough, Wolf held out her staff making them stop. Standing in front of them was a Death Stalker, only this one was missing one of it's stingers. It didn't take long to realize that this was the same scorpion that Wolf tangled with to get the stinger on her staff. Quickly enough Wolf in hailed and her friends followed suit before they exhaled calming themselves down.
No longer sensing their heart beats the Death Stalker moved on and then the three of them moved out of the way letting another threw. Nervously they walked backwards into a tall weed, but do to the tensions going on Kipo freaked out upon bumping into it, regaining the scorpions attention
" Shit! " Chris cursed as he grabbed Kipo's hand as they made a run for it. Wolf got up and Chris threw his girlfriend up giving her a boost while he jumped up.
" I just have to say it's taking everything I've got to not mute out right now! " Kipo cried out and much to her misfortune her ears turned. Feeling what sprouted she did her thing. " Herbs in, herbs out! " They returned to normal. " Phew. " Quickly Wolf skidded to a stop, tapping the end of her staff making a metal ladder come down.
Seeing their opportunity the three of them climbed up, and brought the ladder back up. Much to their luck, the death stalkers couldn't get to them from the height they were on.
Chris sighed in relief. " Man that was intense...You okay? "
" Yeah I'm fine. " Kipo replied.
" Careful, there's a loose rung. " Wolf informed as Kipo walked over a very loose board, just barely touching it.
" Whoa! How did you know about that? " Kipo asked in surprise.
" Because this used to be my home. " Wolf replied yanking off a board and then another before smiling. " Wipe your feet off before you come in. "
" Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa. You had a home before? " Kipo was absorbing this new information. " How come I never knew? "
" Don't get excited. " Wolf said bluntly as she climbed inside. " It's just a random place I found. "
" Not getting excited... " Kipo said as she entered inside. It appeared to be some sort of small room, there was a long sofa against the wall, a few flat screens, a table in the middle and series of items and old machinery all around. Immediately Kipo got excited. " By this magical place! We should totally make this into our forever hideout! " She said picking up some palm palms. " Sorry. "
" Okay, I get that slowing down your heartbeat to a normal person level will be tough for you. " Wolf said.
" Define normalcy. " Chris air quoted as he sat down and glanced around. " Also nice place you got here. "
" I know, also thanks. " She returned her attention to Kipo. " But you can't make it a game. To get out of here alive, you need to be serious. " Much to her dismay the burrow girl wasn't listening to her.
" Ah! " She jumped on a makeshift bed. " This is where you slept! Your bed is made up of inflatable guitars! " She then noticed something on the couch, picking it up and sat down. " You had a teddy bear? "
" That's a head rest. " Wolf corrected.
" Oh, I can just imagine little Wolf over here, all like, 'These aren't toys, they're survival tools.' " She did an impression of her throwing the teddy bear while Chris did his best to hold back his laughter.
" I've never said that...But that is true. " Wolf admitted making Chris laugh.
" Oh man, I'm sorry, but this is just to good...Heheh... "
" I get it... " Kipo said picking up a jump rope. " That's survival. Survival of the fitness! " She began to play with it.
" It's a hand-stopper. Why are you jumping in place with it? " Wolf was confused, but then again she'd been surviving for so long she didn't have a normal childhood which made perfect sense.
" Hand-stopper? " Kipo chcukled at what she said. " No way! " She stopped herself. " What's a hand-stopper? " Wolf held out her hand and Kipo passed her the rope. She then proceeded to use the teddy bear as an example tying up it's arms and legs.
" Awesome! Ah!" She then noticed three sticks sticking out of one of the boxes. " I haven't seen these since my fifth grade graduation party. " She then started to mess around with them. " I was really scared to dance, so I played with these the whole time instead. But then I learned while I was playing, really I was dancing. "
Wolf couldn't help but laugh at her antics. " What are you doing? "
" I'm doing devil sticks duh! And dancing! " Kipo said before flinging one of the sticks over to Wolf who caught it.
" Oh, that's what the third fighting stick was for. Here, let me show you. " Kipo passed her the two other sticks. " It's all in the wrists. " She then got onto the table swinging the sticks around and tossed the third stick before jumping and sent it flying at the teddy bear knocking it down, doing a pose.
" That is not what I was talking about! " Kipo said.
" You could do it with no problem once you got the hang of it. " Wolf said.
Chris gave a round of applause. " Well, even though I have no idea what those things are, but I defiantly know what this is... " Chris said as he was messing around with a slinky.
" I have no idea what is. " Wolf said as he watched him.
" It's a slinky. I remember having one of those when I was little. " Kipo said.
" Ok, so back to calming down your rate- " Wolf was cut off by a very loud static ring, forcing her to cover her ears including Chris.
" This karaoke machine works! " Kipo said excitedly and noticed the glares she got from Wolf and Chris. " Ooh. Sorry. "
" Kipo, please don't do that again. " The silver teen requested. " Seriously...Don't... "
" Again, sorry... " She apologized and turned to her 'sister'. " I'm sure your about to tell me your super-tough Wolfie name for this. "
" That is a Hoot-hoot. " Both hybrids held back their laughter. " Scorpions are afraid of owls. I use the Hoot-hoot to make owl sounds like this: Hoot! Hoot! "
" Awww...Hoot-hoot? " Kipo found this to be adorable.
" I was five when I named it. " Wolf said in a bit of annoyance tossing an inflatable guitar aside. " Now let's try to focus so we can get out of this death trap. "
" Oh, come on. " Kipo walked up to her. " Does it always have to be life or death? Can't it be 'have fun for a minute'? "
" No. " She replied in her usual stern tone.
" And there it is... " Chris said in a flat tone.
Minutes later the three of them raked up some ideas, and one of them turned out to be mediation. But Wolf of course added in her own touch.
" Bah! " This scared her making her loose focus causing the fur to sprout from it's arms. " Try again. "
" Aw come on! " Kipo groaned. " I was so close that time. " Wolf lifted up her arm.
" Close doesn't cut it. I mean look at Chris. " She motioned over to the silver teen who was also meditating. " Here watch this. " She crept up behind him. " Bah! " She didn't get a reaction. " See? Like that. We've got to get you to be calm in the eyes of danger or else we're never gonna be out of-Bah! " She spooked Kipo again.
" Ok, that time wasn't fair. "
" Everything's gotta have some sort of challenge Kipo. " Chris said as he got up to stretch a bit. " And right now life is throwing one at you. "
" Ok, ok. Point made Chirs. Try again Kipo. " Wolf instructed and the female hybrid did just that. Only this time she kept opening one eye to look at Wolf repeatedly multiple times before she had enough. " Ah! Just 'Bah!' me already! "
" Kipo- "
" I'm sorry! " She got up and walked to the couch. " We've been doing this for over an hour and I can't focus on focusing anymore! " She looked outside to see the Death Stalkers were still there.
" Kipo this is important. " Wolf reminded.
" I know it's important! " She replied back and looked more unsure. " But what if I don't have it in me? "
Chris raised an eyebrow in confusion and sat down next to her while Wolf did the same. " What are you talking about? "
" Everyone I care about is counting on me to do something I never done before. And if I don't do it right, one time, I'm putting them all at risk...Including you guys. " She puts her face into her hands. " And I can't focus on it while remaining calm. So how am I ever going to control the Mega Jaguar inside of me!? "
" Kipo try to have a little faith in yourself...We still have a chance..."
" Chris! This isn't easy for me! " She said suddenly snapping at him. " You don't understand what I'm feeling at all! Unlike me I don't have trust with my inner mega like you do! " Immediately she realized what she said and felt bad. " I-I'm sorry...I didn't... "
" No, no. Your right. " Chris shook his head. " Your right...I don't know...But I can still try... " He took her hand. " I've never done this before either, so were both in the same boat. " He then embraced her tightly, but at the same time it was gentle. " Kipo, don't forget, your not in this alone. Because I'm not going no where, I'll be right next to you all the way. I promise. " This seemed to help her out, as the fur on her arms went away as she returned the favor.
" Thank you... "
" No problem...Plus, your kind of stuck with me. " She laughed lightly at what he said and let go of one another.
" Okay, let's a take break. " Wolf suggested.
" You mean it? Thank you! " Kipo stood up grabbing the mic and rushed over to a small green book. It had a list of songs in alphabetical order from A to Z, all of which were programmed into the machine. " Hmm, what song should we sing? "
" We? No one said anything about we. " Wolf said but Kipo ignored what she said and gasped lightly in shock. " They have one of my favorite songs. It's duet so you have to sing. "
" Pass. "
" Let me see what you got in mind. " Chris went up and took the book from her. " Which one? "
" This one. " She pointed at it and went to set it all up.
" Hero's...On...Fire? "
" Do you want to join me? " Kipo asked.
" Nah, I'll let you do this one. " Chris replied staying in his seat. " I'll be part of your 'audience'. "
" Okay, if you both want to sulk at the wall in your break, that's on you. " The screens turned on. " Oh and thank you for the break Wolf. " She said turning to the young survivor who only seemed to groan in annoyance.
Afterwards the song began to start and the screen counted down. " Okay, here we go. " Kipo cleared her throat. " When the night is dark, and the outside so cold... " She went over to Wolf trying to make her sing but she didn't. Wolf? (Heroes on fire) come one...I'm a child, I knew, about a world so true. " For some reasons she kept bugging her friend. " You should pull down the stars...Wolf... " She still got no response out of her but she continued. " I needed a hero, if I only knew that the hero was me (that the hero was you, was you... ' She pointed over to Wolf who couldn't help but smile.
" Fear pulls me down, reckless and hot. " Kipo threw an inflateable guitar to Wolf but she threw it down.
It tells me I'm nothing, when I know that I'm not! " The last note made Kipo's audience cover their ears, and picked up the guitar she passed to Wolf unaware that her singing scared away the Death Stalkers while Wolf smiled some more and Chris chuckled. "Standing alone in my fire. You're not alone. Future's hanging on a wire...Come on...Just take my hand...Future's hanging on a wire...Come on! Just take my hand! " Kipo tried to make Wolf sing but she didn't understand it at all and tried to push her away. " Take it! Literally, come on, take it! " She pulled her up and continued trying to continue to make her sing but she still didn't. " Standing alone in my fire...You're not alone... " She went over to pick up the devil the devil sticks imitating playing a drum. " Heroes on fire, heroes on fire... You and me, baby! " The song had now finished and Kipo got a seventy five percent score.
After she was done Chris gave her a small round of applause. " Phew, not to bad. Although it don't really like it, but it's okay. "
" Thanks. " She walked over to Chris and presented him the microphone. " Ok, Chris, your turn. "
" Hmm? " Chris wanted her to repeat what she just said. " Come again? "
She only smiled. " Why not? We heard you sing back at your old cabin, and you were amazing. "
" T- " Chris blushed slightly in embarrassment averting his gaze slightly. " That was because it was personal to me. And I had a lot of emotions going through me at the time... "
" Come on Chris please? " She asked getting close to his face, like really close. " If you do it then we can do a duet on any song you want~ " Hearing this sounded like an interesting bargain. On one hand he could just simply deny it. But on the other hand, another part was telling him to do it, since he didn't know when he could ever get this sort of chance of fun with Kipo again, considering with all that was going on.
" Wolf you don't mind do you? " He only got a shrug back in response. " Alright. "
" Yes! Yes! " The purplete was now excited.
" Let me see that book. " Kipo passed it over to him and quickly he began to look through the pages carefully. " No...No...No...Hmm, No...Aha...Here we go. This one. " He shows her the book and the song he was interested in.
" 21 Guns? I never heard of this song. It any good? "
" You'd be surprised. I used to have a track of it, but I sort of lost it. Something I'm still not happy about either... " He said grumbling the last part.
" Okay, since you picked it, and listened to me, I guess I'll listen to you. " She went over to the machine to get him set up and passed him the mic. " Alright, stage is all yours. " She went to take her seat while Chris watched the screen count down and the opening of the song began to play with a gentle tune.
" Let's do this. " Closing his eyes Chris took a deep breath and exhaled before letting his voice out.
" Do you know what's worth fighting for?...When it's not worth dying for...Does it take your breath away? And you feel yourself suffocating... " From the sidelines Kipo's jaw dropped in surprise as for Wolf she defiantly sounded interested more in this song then the last one " Does the pain weigh out the pride?...And you look for a place to hide...Did someone break your heart inside? You're in ruins... " Chris slowly bopped his head forward to drum beat.
" One, twenty-one guns...Lay down your arms, give up the fight...One, twenty-one guns...Throw up your arms into the sky, you and I...When you're at the end of the road...And you lost all sense of control...And your thoughts have taken their toll. When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul...Your faith walks on broken glass...And the hangover doesn't pass...Nothing's ever built to last...You're in ruins. " Kipo's head followed in sync with the drum beat as did with Wolf.
" One, twenty-one guns...Lay down your arms, give up the fight...One, twenty-one guns...Throw up your arms into the sky, you and I. " He opened his eyes and began to put more into it. " Did you try to live on your own? When you burned down the house and home...Did you stand too close to the fire...Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stoooooooone? " Chris quickly grabbed one of the inflatable guitars to imitate the solo that was going on and he was enjoying every single moment of it, the smile on his face said so.
Slowly the tune began to get more gentle and Chris let the guitar drop. " When it's time to live and let die. And you can't get another try...Something inside this heart has died...You're in ruins. " A brief pause as it picked up again. " One, twenty-one guns...Lay down your arms, give up the fight...One, twenty-one guns...Throw up your arms into the sky...One, twenty-one guns...Lay down your arms, give up the fight...One, twenty-one guuuuns~...Throw up your arms into the sky, you and I... " As the song ended Chris dropped the mic and the screen did the same thing that happened when Kipo was done.
He ended up getting a perfect score, the number 100 said it all.
" Whoo-hoo! " Kipo ran up to him and hugged him. " Chris that was awesome! I knew you were good, but that, that was just like back at the cabin! "
" You think so? "
" Absolutely! Ooh! Just wait till my friends here your voice when they get the chance! " She then turned over to Wolf. " How'd you like it? "
" I don't know why, but that song really seemed to draw me in. "
" Possibly enough sing? "
She gave Kipo a flat look. " Don't push your luck... "
" Aww, oh well, there's always next time. " She turned back to the silver teen. " So, what will we be doing? "
" I know a good one... " Chris said as he began to look through the book. After flipping page after page he gained a smirk, and showed it to Kipo who gasped in surprise.
" No way... "
" Yes way...A deals a deal. "
" Alright, just give me a second. " She passed Chris back the mic and started their last song for the night to end their fun.
(Last Song, Don't Stop Believin'; Rock of Ages cover.)
As the song started Chris gave her a thumbs up to start it off.
" Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world...She took the midnight train goin' anywhere...
Chris took the next part with Kipo holding out the mic. " Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit...He took the midnight train goin' anywhere... " Chris quickly picked up the guitar to imitate the solo, Kipo giggled at what he did as he finished it off. " A singer in a smoky room...A smell of wine and cheap perfume...For a smile they can share the night... "
Both of them started to go together. " It goes on and on and on and on!...Strangers waiting...up and down the boulevard...Their shadows searching in the night...Streetlights people...living just to find emotion...Hiding, somewhere in the niiiiiiiight! "
Chris grabbed the mic. " Working hard to get my fill...Everybody wants a thrill...Payin' anything to roll the dice...Just one more tiiiime! " Chris leanded it over to Kipo.
" Some will win, some will lose. " They did a quick note. " Some were born to sing the blues! " She then retook the mic.
" Oh, the movie never ends...It goes on and on and on and on! " They both went in sync again.
" Strangers waiting...up and down the boulevard...Their shadows searching in the night...Streetlights people...living just to find emotion...Hiding...somewhere in the niiiiiight! " As Chris imitated a solo Kipo grabbed Wolf again and put her shoulder over her arm, the young survivor was stuck in between them. Even though it seemed annoying at first, she couldn't help but smile.
" Don't stop believin'! Hold on to the feelin! Street lights! Peooooooople! Don't stop believin! hold on, streetlight peoooople! Don't stop believin! hold on to the feelin', streetlight peoooople! Dooooon't Stoooop! "
Minutes later after a surprisingly good break, Chris and Kipo took up on meditation. They've been doing it for quite a while now. From behind them Wolf snuck up, grabbing her staff, getting on the table and jumped next to them. " Bah! " Chris didn't flinch and neither did Kipo, even when she put her staff out in front of them.
" In for four, out for eight, keep your cool, now you're great. " Kipo whispered and even though she didn't show it, Wolf was pleased with the results.
" I think were ready. " Wolf said. " Let's go to your parents old burrow. " Getting up, both hybrids exchanged nod and went outside, down the ladder Kipo and Chris went while Wolf retracted the ladder and jumped down.
" Now let's try this again... " Chris whispered as they tried to make their way through, all while Kipo was repeating the same words to calm down her heat beat.
" In for four...*inhale* Out for eight...*Exhale* Keep your cool, now you're great. " They slid down the slab.
" Kipo, just, knock it off for a second. " Wolf requested. " I need to be able to focus. "
" It's okay Wolf, this is how I keep calm. " Kipo said back to her. " I'll do it silently. " She started to murmur
However as the Death Stalker was going to, Chris grabbed a nearby decent size chunk of concrete and slammed it against the end of the scorpions tail making it screech out in pain. He did the same thing to the other tail. Quickly enough he avoided the claw before he started to slam it on the bug's head.
After making sure it was dead, he went over to Wolf and put her over his shoulder.
" Come on, let's go. " He said to Kipo who picked up the young survivors staff to find a place to turn in the for night.
Meanwhile at Scarlemange's palace.
" The Mega Monkey's collar...it's gotten free
From the distance the same three figures from before watched as the flamingo's brought the collar to the palace. " No... " The leader of the trio stood up not liking where this was going. " He's after the monkey, we have to find her before he does. "
" Thanks for helping me out back there Chris... "
" No problem, this is just like old times huh? "
" Old times? " Kipo got interested in what she was hearing. " Is this right around when you first met each other? "
" Yeah, truth be told, Death Stalker territory was where we first met. Wasn't it? " He asked looking over to Wolf.
" It was actually. "
Hearing this Kipo got excited. " Oh you gotta tell me you how met! Tell me! Tell me! "
" It went sort of something like this... " Chris retold the story.
A few years ago we now see a much younger Wolf making her way through the streets scavenging for whatever she could possibly get. As she did, a Death Stalker came from behind her, quickly enough she calmed herself down. After a few seconds she the scorpion went to another direction, and she watched it making sure it went away.
The Death Stalker continued making it's way through the street when suddenly...
" AAAAAAAAHHHHHH! " Chris screamed as he jumped from a nearby building. Yelling out a primal battle cry raising what appeared to be a large modified sledge hammer over his head. He swung the hammer over his head and smashed it into the death stalkers head, causing it's head to crack, and leak a bit of blood.
The giant scorpion bellowed out a cry of pain and attempted to use it's stingers to get him. However he rolled forward and swung it again making it screech out in more pain, before he gave it another quick few yet hard swings until he cracked it's head right open. While the insect continued to scream, he delivered the finishing blow.
Wolf was beyond shocked to see this, sure she's tangled with Death Stalkers and learned how to survive around them. But this, what she witnessed was beyond brutal, she had yet to kill one, and this stranger easily did it, in a very savage fashion. She watched as he tied a rope around it's legs, then it's stingers followed by it's claws. Once he was done, the teen began to drag his fresh kill.
Curious Wolf decided to follow him. Either it was because she was hungry or the fact she'd hadn't seen another human in a long while. Jumping from roof to roof he watched him drag the scorpion into a parking garage going up.
She continued being quiet as he continued the trek eventually getting to the roof top. Once he arrived he sighed in relief and got to work to start a fire. He then took off the hood to wipe off the sweat on his brow.
Wolf watched on as he used the hammer to crack open the claws.
After getting the meat cracked out of the claws, he proceeded to cut up the meat with a makeshift knife placing them on sharp wood carved spears placing the meat over the fire to cook. Once they were secured, he started to do the same with the inner shell. " Are you just gonna stand there or help? " Chris asked not even bothering to turn around taking Wolf by surprise as he took the meat placing it on a the spear over the fire to cook. " Well? Are you? "
" And that's how we met. " Chris finished telling Kipo the story.
" So wait, why didn't you guys stick together? "
" I wanted to, but Wolf preferred to be more a loner. " The silver teen anwsered.
" Okay, I admit, maybe it would've been better if we did stick together. " Wolf admitted sheepishly.
" Also guys, I'm sorry I wasn't focused before. " Kipo spoke up. " If I had been better at it, maybe you wouldn't have gotten stung or end up stuck in the first place. "
" Nope, what happened to me wasn't your fault. I worried about you. But you did it. You were focused, calm and cool. "
" I was wasn't I? " Kipo asked confidently.
" Hey! " Chris commented feeling left out. " I technically killed a giant scorpion you know. "
" You were cool too Chris. " Wolf said as they hopped across a ledge to the other side. " If your able to kill a Death Stalker and a Mega Pidgeon. Then becoming a Mega Jaguar and Mega Tiger to Kipo's people should be easy as pie."
" You think so? " Kipo asked as they continued going down.
" No. " Wolf returned to her normal mode.
" Me neither. " Kipo admitted as Chris went to drink some water and hugged up on him. " But at least I'm not alone. " Chris couldn't help but chuckle and pat her head before letting her drink some water as well. " OK, time to focus on getting to my parents' burrow. Nothing can stop us now. " As she and Chris slid down a rock, they were shocked to hear something they didn't expect to hear. Wolf was humming, from the sounds of it she was humming to the last song that was played.
" Wolfatha Christie the Fourth, are you humming? " Kipo asked in disbelief.
" Since when? " Chris added his comment.
She groaned in annoyance coming down. " It's that stupid song you both sung. I can't get it out my head. "
" You what? " Kipo was loving where this was going. " How did it go? I-I forget how it goes. " Kipo motioned her to do it which she begrudgingly did with a blush of embarrassment
" Just a small town girl...living in a lonely world.. she took the midnight train going anywhere... " Just then adding more to her displeasure Mandu's squeal was heard. They looked to see Dave in his muscular form flying down to them. For some reason they were wearing costumes. Mandu was a sheep, Benson was a cowboy and the bug had on a large trench coat.
" Whoa! Did I hear Wolfie singing? " Dave asked in surprise as they landed.
" I know right! Wasn't it amazing? " Kipo said.
" Wait, what happened to you three? " Wolf asked in confusion.
" Yeah, its like you guys just came back from a party. " Chris added feeling the same way she did.
" Long story. " Benson anwsered. " Tell ya later. But first...A singer in a smokey room...the smell of wine and cheap perfume...For a smile they can share the night... "
Everyone minus Wolf and Mandu joined in. " It goes on and on and on and on! "
" Take it Wolf! " Kipo said to her 'sister'.
For some reason she did. " Strangers walking up and down the boulevard. "
They started to make their way through the old bridge continuing to sing. " Their shadows searching in the night...Streetlights people...living just to find emotion...Hiding, somewhere in the niiiiight! "
" Geez, even though how cheesy this is, I like it for some reason. " Chris commented making a dry joke making the group laugh as he put an arm over Kipo's shoulder as they continued on their quest, not fully aware of new truth's they would find.
