Walking into his house after a long day in the office, Tommy let out a deep breath. It was Friday night and that meant, hopefully, that no one would bother him too much that evening. He had intended to spend time with his wife, knowing that she had been at work that day. He thought that he might find her in the living room with Charlotte, but he walked past the study and the door was wide open. He could hear his wife laughing from inside and he suspected she was on the phone. That was until he heard a man's voice.

Tommy's face scrunched up before he walked into the room. Elizabeth was sat at her desk and a man was stood behind her, dressed in a form fitting grey suit with blue tie. His blond hair hung down his head as he bent over Elizabeth, pointing down at something on a piece of paper as she looked at it intently. Tommy pulled his cap from his head and rested it on the chair by the door. He coughed as he began to move his coat from his arms.

Looking up, Elizabeth smiled to her husband. Andrew straightened up from behind her, hands by his side. Elizabeth watched as Tommy arched his brows, silently questioning what was going on.

"You're home," Elizabeth said. "Tommy, this is Andrew Jones. He is helping me with the school."

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr Shelby," Andrew said, moving around the desk and offering his hand to Tommy. Andrew watched as the MP shook his hand. Tommy's grip was tight.

"Yeah," was all Tommy said to him and Elizabeth frowned, eyes wide and face stern as she looked at her husband from behind Andrew's shoulder. "Yeah," Tommy amended for her. "Nice to meet yer too."

That seemed to appease Elizabeth as her face relaxed and she moved to her feet then. Moving around the desk, she leant against it and folded her arms over her stomach. "Andrew has had a chance to look over the numbers for the school," Elizabeth informed her husband.

"I 'ave accountants," Tommy said to his wife and she pouted again.

"Well, quite," Elizabeth said tersely as Andrew stood awkwardly in between the two of them. "But Andrew is a banker and he knows about how to secure loans and how to work with mortgages if we choose to take a loan out. He seems to think that the best route would be to try and secure charitable status."

"Yes," Andrew agreed with her, "I think that might be for the best considering the issues surrounding tax and the ability to raise more funds that it would secure."

"I see," Tommy said.

"I did not mean to intrude, Mr Shelby, but-"

"-Nonsense," Elizabeth interrupted Andrew and he turned to look to her while Tommy looked to her too. "Andrew was kind enough to offer help after we discussed the issue at Moores school. His daughter goes there."

"Does she?" Tommy asked as Elizabeth handed her husband the papers she had been looking over. Peering down onto them, Tommy let his eyes scan over the words. "And does yer wife know yer 'ere?"

There was silence then and Elizabeth looked to Andrew. He let his eyes move to the ground. He sniffed once and shook his head, trying to compose himself before looking back to Tommy. Elizabeth held her breath, wishing that her husband was not so blunt.

"My wife died five years ago," Andrew informed Tommy and Elizabeth frowned once again. Looking up from the papers, Tommy nodded.

"Sorry to 'ear that," he said.

"No, it was a long time ago," Andrew said quickly. "I have my Eve to look after now. Speaking of, I should get going home or my maid will wonder where I have gotten to."

"Of course," Elizabeth said to him, a hand moving to his arm gently and Tommy picked up on the gesture, watching as Andrew looked down to Elizabeth with a gentle smile on his face. "Well, I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday after work."

"Yes," Andrew said to her. "I will look further into the charitable status for then."

"Thank you," Elizabeth said. Andrew smiled to her once again and looked back to Tommy. He held his hand out on more time.

"It was nice to meet you, Mr Shelby," Andrew said.

"Nice to meet yer," Tommy forced himself to say.

"I will walk you out," Elizabeth said, hand still on his arm as she walked with him out of the study, talking away.

Tommy went to take a seat at his desk, leaning back in his chair. He prepared himself for a torrent of annoyance when Elizabeth walked back into the room. He placed his hands onto his stomach and waited, hearing her heavy footsteps stomp back into the hallway and then into the study. Hands on hips, she crumpled the white blouse she wore.

"What was that?" she demanded from her husband.

Tommy shrugged. "What do yer mean?"

"You know exactly what I mean, Thomas Shelby," she spoke, voice on the verge of anger. "You had no right to be rude to Andrew like that."

"Andrew?" Tommy spoke. "So yer on first name terms with him?"

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "You cannot be serious," she spoke, placing the pieces together. She almost looked entertained then, a sly rise of her lips taking place. Her arms went to fold over her chest. "Are you seriously jealous?"

"Jealous? Nah," Tommy answered for her, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it, rolling it between his lips for a second. "Why would I be jealous? I know that he can never compete with me."

"And you think that is what he is doing?" Elizabeth checked with him.

"Why else would he be 'ere on a Friday night? Don't tell me yer actually think that he cares about 'elpin', do yer? 'Ave yer seen the way he looks at you."

Tommy blew out a puff of smoke and Elizabeth's cheeks tinted red at the suggestion Tommy was masking. Her mouth fell open, but she struggled to form coherent words. It took her a few moments to pull herself together, straightening out her skirt.

"Tommy, it is possible for someone to care about something and not have an ulterior motive."

"He has a crush on yer," Tommy warned his wife. "He isn't 'ere for that, not really. I can see what he is doin'."

"I have had enough of this," Elizabeth warned her husband, holding a hand up. "He is a nice man, Tommy, and he is trying to do a kind thing. Why do you have to try and ruin that? Why can you not leave something be?"

"Because I ain't blind," Tommy said, cigarette dangling from his lips and she shook her head. "I can see what is goin' on, Liz."

"No," Elizabeth said, shaking her head and turning to leave. "We are not discussing this."

Tommy sighed and stood up, stubbing his cigarette out despite only having a few drags. He followed his wife out of the study and saw her heading upstairs and to the bedroom. He kept a few paces behind her, standing in the doorway as she sat her dressing table and began to remove the pins keeping her hair neatly tucked away at the back of her head.

"Liz, I don't want to argue with yer over this," Tommy said to his wife.

"Then why did you have to act like you did?" she responded and Tommy sighed. Moving to her seat, he stood in front of her, in between her and the table. She stopped unpinning her hair as Tommy took hold of her wrists, bending down until his forehead was against hers.

"Because it scares me," Tommy admitted to her. "Because I know that any man would be lucky to 'ave yer and I get that…I get why they would want yer…yer stunnin', smart…kind…lovin'…and if Andrew sees that then why would he not want you?"

Elizabeth mellowed for a moment then, her hands going up to hold onto Tommy's cheeks, clasping onto them softly. Looking him in the eye, she moved and kissed him chastely on the lips.

"You have no reason to be concerned," Elizabeth said to Tommy. "Andrew is becoming a friend and that is all. Believe me, he knows that I am happily married. You have no reason to worry. Just don't be rude to him, Tommy. It isn't nice to see or to try and excuse your behaviour."

"I'll try," Tommy promised her.

"Fine," she said, agreeing with him on that much.

"Finn told me that yer 'ad gone back to 'im," Pol said down the phone as Elizabeth sat in the hallway on the bottom step of the staircase. Pol had insisted on seeing how Elizabeth was, but refused to speak with Tommy after what had happened. "He said that he is stayin' in my 'ouse now. Told me about the men who tried to 'urt yer."

"Yes," Elizabeth said, arm draped over her lap. "Tommy is still trying to find out who sent them, but he has promised to change, Pol. He is trying to make things better."

Pol scoffed. "How many times are yer goin' to fall for that same chestnut?"

"I believe him," Elizabeth said to Pol.

"Yer believed him before."

"Well, I guess I may be a fool," Elizabeth said to her. "I love him, Pol, I need him and he needs me. We have been involved in too much and I can't stop how I feel. He has promised he will change and I am giving him that chance."

Pol sighed loudly. "Yer know that things will get ugly eventually," she warned Liz. "Michael has gone back to America with Gina, but he won't even tell me what he is plannin' or doin', but I get a bad feelin'."

"I know that Tommy has someone watching him," Elizabeth said. "He told me that much, but Michael has been laying low. Why would he want to do anything to go against Tommy?"

"Because he is angry with the way Tommy treated 'im," Pol said.

"I guess that I can understand that," Elizabeth admitted before she saw Charlotte walk into the house with Tommy, a paper bag in her hands. Elizabeth wondered where they had been before she urged for her daughter to come and see her. "Pol, there is someone here who wants to say hello. Just a moment."

Charlotte sat down on the step next to her mother, handing her the paper bag as Elizabeth gave her the phone. Pressing it to her, Charlotte sounded giddy.

"Aunt Pol?" she spoke.

Charlotte stood up, kissing her daughter's forehead before moving over to Tommy who was removing his coat and hat. She looked into the bag, peering down at the sweets inside of it. "You are going to ruin her teeth if you keep treating her," Elizabeth scolded her husband who merely shrugged.

"She deserves it," he responded. "Besides, it is only a treat every so often."

"You spoil her."

"Only because I love 'er," Tommy said and kissed his wife before motioning to the phone with his chin. "What does Pol want?"

"She just wanted to check up on us."

"On you," Tommy clarified.

Elizabeth groaned softly and picked out a bon bon, popping it in her mouth. "I will get you two to talk eventually," she warned her husband. "This cannot go on forever. You have faced tough spots, but you have always got through them…even when you let your family get sent to jail, which I didn't think could be any worse."

"We'll see," was all Tommy said while Charlotte continued to speak with Pol. Tommy missed his Aunt, of course he did. However, he didn't really know what side she was on as things stood. He moved his arm around his wife's shoulders and kissed the top of her head.
