Committing.
Chapter 4
Raven stormed down the halls of the Hotel. She was fuming as her magic popped out every light bulb down the way. "How dare he!" She spoke out loud, fixing her dress. "Marry him, I can't marry him, I can't commit to him!" She said flinging her arms around angerly. "It wouldn't work. He's him, and I'm me, and that just doesn't work. I don't do relationships! Why can't he see that? This is exactly why I didn't want to fuck him, for this exact reason. I knew this would happen! I knew it!" She stormed into the reception, unnoticed, and stomped to the bar. She needed a drink. "A scotch, now." She ordered and as soon as the man set it in front of her, she took it back. It was disgusting, and it burned down her throat. But she needed to calm her aggravation. She was about to order another one, when she noticed the guy next to her watching her intensely. He had a scruffy chin, dark hair, and a curved smile, and she knew the type of look he was giving her. This was her moment to prove to Garfield that she doesn't do relationships, she doesn't commit to anyone.
…
She pulled the stranger into men's room, and he was eager to oblige her unspoken request. His smirk never left his lips as he slowly looked at her, admiring her assets. She suddenly felt uncomfortable and wished she had taken another shot before doing this.
She took a deep breath. "Okay, let's do this." He continued to grin at her as he slowly walked up and put a hand immediately on her near, the other cupping her face as he forcefully kissed her.
Raven felt uncomfortable. His face was prickly, his lips were veliger, and his hands seemed to prod at her in unstimulating ways. And as he kissed and grouped her, all she could think about was how she missed the way Garfield would touch her, when Garfield would kiss her, when Garfield would hold her. She suddenly pushed the man away harshly.
"What?" He asked in irritation.
She shook her head. "This is wrong. I can't do this." She said in recognition. This guy was in no way a comparison to Garfield. He didn't touch her right, he didn't kiss her right, this wasn't right. Remorse suddenly flooded through her as she began to regret her actions. She quicky ran her hand through her hair. "What have I done?" She suddenly bolted out of the bathroom. She needed to find Garfield. She needed to talk to him. She needed to make things right.
…
Garfield sat on the floor shocked and hurt. What just happened? How could he do this? How could he mess everything up? He slowly got up and ran a hand through his hair. He almost had her. She was literally in his grasp. But he pushed too far and lost her. He quickly buttoned up his shirt and zipped up his pants before running out the door after her.
He ran down the halls before stopping, seeing the glass of the light bulbs on the floor. He shook his head before running again, hoping his actions didn't cause her to do something she would regret. He barged into the reception and quickly looked around the room but didn't see Raven anywhere.
"Hey man, were have you been?" Victor asked, approaching him.
"Not now, Vic." He said quickly running off, leaving his friend perplexed.
Raven was nowhere to be seen and there were too many strong smells to track her down. But then he spotted her leaving the men's room, a guy right behind her. Garfield watched this in disbelief as the guy slipped past Raven, and he could only assume what they just did. His eyes widened as his expression fell. His heart immediately sunk in his chest as his stomach knotted.
"Gar." She suddenly said as she spotted him, and just like that he turned around and stormed out of the room. "Gar, wait!" She called running after him.
She ran across the room, but before she could follow him, Richard stepped in front of her. "Raven, what's going on, where's Garfield? We're about to cut the cake."
"I messed everything up, I have to go." She said quickly, but he grabbed her arm, stopping her again.
"What, no. Raven no!" He barked. "I told you to figure all your problems out before the wedding; we can't have any of this drama going on, not now. What am I supposed to tell Kori?"
"I'm sorry." She was all she could say before running away.
…
Raven barged into Garfield's Hotel room, out of breath but determined. "Gar!" She exclaimed, and he turned to her with an angry snarl.
"What the Fuck was that!" He yelled, "You'll Fuck a complete stranger but not me!"
"I didn't sleep with him." She tried say.
"Bullshit!" He shot back angerly. "How was he? Was he everything you needed in a none committed fling?"
"Gar, I swear, nothing happened." She tried to tell him.
"Really?" He huffed angerly, his hands on his hips. "I'm supposed to believe you two left the men's room without doing anything?"
"Well…" She said timidly.
"I know it!" He yelled, raising his arms.
"We only kissed! I swear!" He rolled his eyes and scuffed. "I didn't mean it. I didn't even know the guy." She tried to explain, but she found she was only making things worse. "There was no excuse for my actions."
He stood there and stared at her, he was so hurt, and upset, he just wanted to cry and yell, to call her a bitch, a whore, or even slut. But he didn't have it in him to do such a thing.
"Gar, say something." She spoke, the silence getting to her.
"I have nothing to say to you. All I know is that you really proved to me how much you don't want to be with me." He said simply, turning away from her.
"No, no that's not true. I want to be with you." She said, slowly reaching out a hand to him.
"No, you don't get to just say that after you cheated on me." He yelled and she stopped.
"It wasn't cheating." She pointed out softly as he turned to look at her.
"You're right, it wasn't, because we were never anything to you." He said simply.
"But we were, we were something…" She defined.
"Really, because I can't think of what to call us, what to call whatever the fuck we were doing?" He said thrusting his hands around.
"We're Complicated." She told him.
"Clearly." He huffed, rolling his eyes.
"But we don't have to be anymore." She told him.
"Anything with you is going to be complicated, Raven." He told her dryly.
"That may be true, but at least we know what to call it, what to call us." She said hesitantly.
"Us? There is no us. You didn't want an us, you made that perfectly clear." He said roughly.
"It was just a meaningless kiss." She said again. "It was a mistake, and I know there is nothing I can do to make up for it. I just hope somehow… you will forgive me." She told him shakily. And he responded by turning his back to her again, his face contorted in pain and anger. "Because I love you, and I'm sorry it took me making the biggest mistake of my life to realize that." She finished painfully.
He slowly turned to her, surprised at the emotion she was showing. "You mean it?" He asked questionably, and she nodded. "But will you commit to me?" He asked seriously.
She paused for a moment, glancing downward briefly before looking back at him. "It depends… does your proposal still stand?"
…
It was a steady pace, and honestly a lot slowly then they had expected their union to be. They both had assumed they would just give in during a heated make out session and rip off each other's clothes. But that's not how it happened at all…
It started off with a kiss, a soft, yet heated, tear filled kiss. She broke away from him to quickly take off her heels and unzip her dress. She quickly tossed the gown aside before slowly walking up to him and unbuttoned his shirt. He watched her undo each butted with half-lidded eyes and a heavy breath until she reached the bottom. He slowly pulled the shirt off his shoulders, and discarded it as she wrapped her arms around his neck, gently pulling him down to kiss her. She lightly pushed him down to sit on the edge of the bed. He pulled away slightly and watched her as she slowly climbed on his lap, before connecting their lips once more. The kiss was heated, and filled with so much desire that he couldn't help but grab her waist and spin them around, as he gently laid her on the comforter. He propped himself over her as he began to kiss her skin softly before she cupped the sides of his face and steered him back to her lips. Her hands skimmed down, past his shoulders and chest, down his abdomen, before resting at his belt. She slowly undid it, before tugging at his pants and lowering them down. He quickly kicked off his shoes and then the pants.
They have never had this little clothing between them, and the anticipation was driving them both mad. Without breaking contact with her, he pulled the large comforter over them. Under the covers, what little clothing was left was gently discarded as their bodies folded nicely with one another.
He pulled away one last time, only to get a final confirmation with her, and once she consented, he quickly leaned back down before sliding himself between her legs…
…
His heart pounded in his chest beneath her ear as she rested on him. He was still catching his breath and she thought it was cute how winded he was. She couldn't help but smile lightly as she leaned up on her forearms to face him. She lifted her hand and lightly brushed his bangs out of his face, an action she really hoped wouldn't become a habit of hers.
"Was it worth the wait?" She asked and he couldn't help but smile.
"Oh yeah." He breathed.
"You lasted longer than I had expected." She noted and he furrowed his expression.
"What?" He asked, wrinkling his nose, and she lightly flicked it. She was being playful, and he couldn't ask for a better aftermath. "Soo…" He grinned, still catching his breath. "Round two?"
She shook her head but continued to smile. "We should probably get back to the wedding." She said slowly getting up.
"Do we have to?" He asked. "I doubt they even noticed we were gone."
"We don't want to be horrible friends." She told him as she slipped on her dress.
"We were horny friends." He said simply and she turned and glared at him.
"Get dressed." She ordered throwing him his pants. "I don't even know what time it is. The wedding could be over…" She said as she slipped on her heels.
He slowly got up before hopping his legs into his pants. He quickly grabbed his shirt and started buttoning it as he turned to face her as she fixed herself in the mirror. "Do you think anyone will know?" He suddenly asked as he approached her.
"Know what?" She questioned, pinning her hair up.
"That we… you know." He hinted with a smirk, wrapping his arms around her waist, and resting his head on her shoulder.
"Knowing Star, she could probably smell it on us." She sighed before turning around and fixing his tie. "And it would help if you stopped smiling like an idiot." She told him before turning around, exposing her back. "Now zip me."
"I'm happy, so sue me." He smirked, slowly zipping her dress.
She quickly turned around and kissed him. "Let's go before they come looking for us." She said heading towards the door. But he quickly grabbed her hand to stop her, before pulling her towards him.
"I want a big wedding." He began. "Like this one. But with not so many strangers." He told her.
"How about we elope?" She suggested, but he shook his head.
"Nope, I want lots of people to witness our union." He said with a big smile.
"Can we finish the wedding downstairs before we start talking ours?" She asked, pulling him towards the door.
…
"What do you mean you can't find them?" Richard asked Victor.
"I'm sorry, they're just not here." He said shrugging his shoulders.
"Oh dear, I hope they are alright." Kori said, concern evident in her voice.
"Kori, I'm sorry." Richard said turning to her and grabbing her hands.
"I just hope nothing is wrong." She said in concern.
"There they are." Victor quickly pointed at the entrance. "They seem okay. Actually, they seem better than usual." Victor noted as the pair walked in holding hands.
"Oh…" Kori smiled, "I believe they are more than okay." She grinned knowingly.
"I'll go talk to them." Richard said harshly before Kori grabbed his arm.
"You will do no such thing. They are here and that's all that matters." She told him sternly.
"Kori, they missed half of the reception." He protested, his leader tone stern.
"And they will make up for the rest of it." She smiled. "Calm down Richard, everything is okay now." She reassured him, cupping the side of his face.
He took a big breath and softened his mood. "Okay, Kori." He said meekly as she caressed his face.
…
Raven sighed in relief. "Well at least we didn't miss the whole reception." She noted as Garfield wrapped his arms around her waist from behind her.
"I'm shocked Boy Wonder over there isn't coming to give us the third degree." He noted resting his head on her shoulder.
"Be thankful Kori seems to have him contained." She smiled before narrowing her eyes as she felt him sway her. "Gar, I'm not in the mood to dance."
"Your hips say otherwise…" He said playfully and before she knew it, he swiftly picked her up and spun them around. "So, I was thinking a summer ceremony, maybe on the beach." He said excitedly.
"We are not having a beach wedding." She said firmly as he set her down. "And I am not wearing heels." She said, struggling to balance herself in the pair she had on.
"If it was at the beach, we could be barefoot." He suggested with a shrug.
She narrowed her eyes. "Not a chance."
"We can have strobe lights, and dance the Macatena, Oh, and the guarder toss…" He said animatedly.
"What the hell is the guarder toss?" She asked in disgust.
"You guys missed the guarder toss." Richard informed them harshly as he and Kori slowly approached the pair.
"Oh Richard, clearly they had better things to do." Kori said knowingly, smiling at them.
"You were right about her smelling it." Garfield whispered beside Raven and she quickly elbowed him in response.
Kori clasped her hands together happily. "You guys are here now, together and that's all that matters."
