The elevator doors opened up to reveal floor 77. The instrumental music made Tony remember how long he had been awake for. He yawned but didn't reconsider his decision. Didn't bother with going back to his room to try for a nap. Instead Tony stepped out of the elevator and went into the kitchen.
Loki slowly ate his way through the pan of scrambled eggs. The longer he stood in the kitchen the slower he picked at the food he had made. Maybe it would be a good idea to go to sleep but eggs never tasted the same when they were reheated. Especially on Midgard the eggs tended to get a rubber like quality when reheated in any way. So instead of crawling under the covers he continued to eat through whatever meal this was meant to be.
Walking into the room with a yawn Tony had to wait to ask his question. Instead he stood there, awkwardly, for a few moments waiting for the yawn to stop. Eventually he managed to say, "What did you mean by earlier. You did this thing with your eyebrows and I didn't know if it was intentional or I'm seeing things or overthinking. I'm probably overthinking. I do that...a lot. But yeah what did you mean when you said that thing before I left?"
He put down the pan of eggs slowly and just stared at Tony for several moments. Loki wasn't sure what Tony seemed to be agonizing over. But then it hit him. Tony must have been thinking about the sort of seduction he had attempted. Before Loki could find something to say Tony continued.
"Were you hitting on me? I mean I didn't realize exactly at the time. I guess I suspected. It took a few minutes because it seemed sorta out of place. It's not like flirting of any sort has happened much, recently in this tower, to me. By the time I connected the dots it seemed a bit too late and you were upset. I just didn't know what to say or if your eyes really were sparkling for that reason or something else. It's not like I'm known to be great with all the intricacies of humans and well, you're not exactly human. And I don't mean that as a bad thing. It's just a fact."
Loki smiled and held up a hand as if to pause Tony's rant. It worked. Tony stopped talking. Loki filled the silence, "I suppose I was trying to seduce you. At the least I wanted to see if I could. After everything…" Loki faded out and thought for a moment of what he wanted to say, "You have been nice to me. Nicer then I probably deserve. Living here, talking with you and Jarvis, having people who seem to care has done me quite a bit of good. For the first time in quite some time I'm beginning to feel like myself. Or I have these moments where I'm not wholly ready to-" Loki took a breath. "When I was younger I flirted with pretty much anyone. Since then I've been rather closed off. I thought, maybe, I could attempt to go back to the man I once was. I know that won't be easy. I'll have days, weeks possibly where I slip back into the routine you found me in. I figured showing interest… flirting could be a good place to start."
The two didn't say anything. Loki's words settled between them in a comfortable sort of way. They just looked at each other.
The moment was interrupted by Tony being startled by a particularly loud yawn. "Sorry, Jarvis told me to go to bed. I came here instead. Anyway. I'm here. Jarvis is here. The gang's all here to support you become the bakery owning citizen of Earth you want to be. Flirting and all." Tony smiled and gave a quick wink. "Now I really should listen to that bucket of bolts and crash in bed."
"Yes sir, you really should."
