"We can't thank you guys enough,"

"Oh Maka, please! Get out of here!"

Maka cast Tsubaki another thankful glance as she pulled her coat on. It was a Saturday and Blackstar and Tsu had agreed to watch Amara and Masen for a few hours while Soul and Maka went out.

"But you haven't had the baby for long, and now to look after these two at the same ti – "

"Maka, come on!" Blackstar groaned from her carpet. He was sitting cross legged on the floor with Masen and Valentina. Valentina was asleep on her back on a baby mat. Masen was entranced by the smaller baby and sat between Blackstar's legs while he stared at her and tried to poke her. Blackstar had to make sure he didn't wake the baby. Amara was sat on Blackstar's shoulders and tugged at his hair. He didn't even flinch.

"It's not like we haven't babysat for you before. It's nice for Vale to see new places as well," He told them in a matter-of-fact tone. Maka stared at her oldest friend in wonder.

"Who are you right now?" Blackstar gave her a dry look and waved her off. Tsubaki laughed over them.

"Alright, you two are going to be late for your date! You deserve some time for yourself, so get!"

Soul and Maka smiled and gave their kids and Vale a kiss before Tsubaki more or less pushed them out the door.

What Star and Tsu didn't know was that, Maka and Soul's date was not what they thought. It was more of an appointment. Maka was finally twelve weeks along in her pregnancy and they were going to make sure everything was in order before they told everyone the news.

Maka and Soul were glowing in happiness. Maka had never felt better. No morning sickness or pain, just tiredness. They had considered finding out the sex of the baby, but they were curious to see if Amara would get it right again. She doesn't seem to suspect the pregnancy though, so there was that.

Maka was nearly shaking with excitement when she climbed out of the car and made her way into the clinic. There was nothing better than being told that their baby was happy and healthy. Nothing else mattered to the pair than that.

"You excited?" Maka asked Soul as they sat in the waiting room after checking in. Soul gave her a smirk, but she could see the elation in his eyes.

"Yah, I can't wait," he told her. "I'm more excited to tell everyone though. I think they'll be pretty happy. This is the coolest thing ever."

Maka giggled. They were called into the doctors office before she could reply.

The appointment was going very smoothly. Maka had told the Doctor all of her symptoms and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The Doctor didn't seem worried at all, which only added to Soul and Maka's elation. It was only when they were about to receive their first scan of the baby when the Doctor's face changed.

"Oh," the Doctor murmured, adjusting slightly. Soul and Maka's face dropped.

"What?" Maka asked sternly. "What is it?"

The Doctor smiled apologetically before looking back at the scan. Soul squinted at the image. What was wrong?

"Is there a problem?" He asked quietly.

"Not in a sense," the Doctor murmured and adjusted the image on the screen. She slowly pointed at the black waves. "But I don't think there's a baby in there,"

Maka felt a weight drop so hard in her stomach she thought she'd throw up. She was about to ask how this could have possibly happened when the Doctor continued.

"There's two."

The weight in Maka's stomach swelled until her belly was just full of butterflies. She turned her head to take in Soul's expression and saw he must have gone through very similar emotions. His eyes met hers at the same time and she could swear she had never seen them so wide. The Doctor went on nonchalantly.

"Yep. I'm certain. You're having twins."

There was a long silence. Soul was the first to recover.

"…Twins." Soul said slowly. The Doctors nodded and gave them a smile as she pulled off her gloves.

"Yes. I'm sure this is a bit of a shock so I'll give you two a moment."

The Doctor made her way from the room with a smile and shut the door quietly behind her. Maka shuffled up on the bed so she could face Soul more comfortably.

"Twins." Soul repeated. Maka didn't think he had blinked since the Doctor said there was two babies.

"Twins." Maka confirmed, her hand hovering over her stomach. She fought a hysterical giggle. "Your Dad was a twin right?"

Soul's eyes went even wider. "Yeah. Yeah, he was."

"So, that means they run in your family."

"I – I guess they do."

"…Soul, are you okay?" she asked softly, squeezing his hand. He gave her a small smile.

"Of course. I'm just so… shocked. We're getting another two babies? Two?" Maka laughed fondly.

"Yes." She smiled. "And I thought telling people we were having one was going to be interesting."

Soul barked a laugh at that. He shoulders visibly relaxed and he pulled up her hand in his own to kiss her knuckles.

"That's for sure." He agreed. "Well… Let's call up Kid, Liz and Patti and your Dad in the car and tell them all together?"

"Yes."

And they did. Everyone was a little confused, being called over so suddenly but Maka didn't think they suspected the news they were to tell. The shock of the news kept hitting her. She felt like she had only just gotten used to the thought of being pregnant again but now she was having twins?

"Oh my god," she kept breathing in the car. Soul just smiled and reached over to squeeze her hand.

"Okay." Soul said for what felt like the umpteenth time.

Everyone was sat on their massive, oversized couch. Amara was sat on Liz's knee, Masen on Patti's and Vale on Tsubaki's. Star, Spirit and Kid just watched them all through narrow, suspicious eyes.

"What's going on then?" Star asked, growing impatient. "We don't have all day."

Maka gave him a nasty look before casting her gaze over the whole group again.

"We have some big news," she managed. Soul grabbed her hand and smiled in excitement. That helped. She returned his smile and looked back to the group. "Soul and I… We're having another baby."

Everyone yelled and started the stand to hug them when Soul lifted up a hand, halting them. They all frowned in confusion and fell back into the couch.

"That's not all," he drawled, wrapping an arm around Maka's waist. "We're not just having… One baby."

Everyone but Tsubaki grew more confused before the penny dropped. Maka grinned.

"We're having twins."

If they were excited before, they were ecstatic now. Maka couldn't tell who was hugging her at each time, she was just being passed from person to person. She remembered her father's teary face and her daughter's bright, excited crimson orbs. The babies ended up crying at all the commotion and had to be settled, which broke up all the hugging.

"I just cannot believe it," Amara said for the millionth time, her face nearly splitting in two she was smiling so big. "I'm going to be a big sister again! Twice!"

Soul laughed gruffly and scooped her up. Maka leant over, Masen in arms, to plant a kiss on her daughter's cheek.

"Any idea what we're having this time?" Maka asked, her eyes amused.

Amara's eyes widened before they went blank. Soul and Maka cast a glance between each other as their daughter's eyes glazed over. That was a little odd. It's was like she was actually going through some kind of process. Before they could think any more of it, Amara looked back up at them, her eyes troubled.

"I can't tell," she said, her wording confusing them more. "When it was Masey, I just knew. It just… felt like a brother. This time I'm not as certain."

"I wonder why that is," Soul breathed and Maka shrugged, though she had a theory.

"I'm sure it'll come to you sweetie," she told her with a smile. Amara returned it and hugged her again.

"Can I name these babies too? I have so many ideas!" Soul groaned and poked her nose.

"Your mother and I might want to name at least one of our children," Soul chided.

Amara rolled her eyes, causing Maka to smile. She looked so much like her father when she did that.

"Good job you're having two of them then!"

Soul and Maka looked at her in amazement before bursting out in laughter.

They definitely had the coolest family ever.
