She had met them...originally it was fine as just them...but soon he wanted to be more than just them.

(Present)

Vegeta stared down at his scouter in thought. Leave it to Raditz to send him a recording of his mate. He had almost deleted the message altogether...but. His mind wandered back to the delivery of said transmission.

~BLEEP~

Vegeta pressed a button on his scouter, having been trying to go to sleep after getting the loud group off. He'd been hoping for silence once he got the woman on the other side to stop pressing buttons. Nappa was out and so he wasn't even aware of what nonsense had just taken place. Vegeta glanced at his partner who was snoring loudly against a tree. Pressing another button as he read the arrival of a transmission, he listened carefully.

"What kind of person do you think Vegeta is?"

Vegeta scoffed at the sound of Raditz's voice and made to delete the transmission...but...

"Hm?"

Her voice was so soft, featherlike, he couldn't imagine a time or world in which he may have been lucky enough to stumble upon someone who sounded so kind and caring. He wondered what she looked like...but he could think of nothing to match the softness of her voice. He'd only seen war and bloodshed, death and destruction.

"...a loving father...strong, emotionally and mentally hardened...physically he's one of the strongest Saiyan's left...only one other Saiyan rivals him in strength. He's a tease...seductive...intentionally so. He's a teacher...passionate...protective..."

Crying sounded over the device and Vegeta felt his heart thump painfully against his chest before the transmission ended.

Again, his mind lingered on the sound of her crying, and her softly spoken words drawn up from memories of a past he knew nothing of.

'...I don't know who this man is...that you speak of. If I could ever be him, I highly doubt it...but I think...it doesn't sound too bad.'

(A Week and a Half Later)

(Present)

Kagome sat on the floor of the ships floor. She was watching Raditz and Bulma argue about who piloted the ship. Logically, Bulma was going to pilot, since she knew the ship better than anyone else. Kagome was going to help since she'd been teaching her to copilot while the guys trained more. Having had her hands full with healing since they got back from Kami's look out, she wasn't sure what their idea of training was, but it always ended with near death experiences. "Guys!" Kagome yelled, "we have a schedule to keep. Bulma will fly this ship, since it's hers and she knows what she's doing. Besides, you guys will be too busy in the Gravity Machine, right?"

Raditz lifted his eyes as he turned them to Kagome and Gohan who were both waiting for the adults to get on the ship. "Fine, whatever."

Kagome nodded as she stood and watched the others get on board with her and Gohan. Goku was with Chichi, pacifying her before hugging her goodbye. Bulma got on with Raditz, Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu following behind.

Kagome watched as Chichi's dad came towards them with a large collection of bags and suitcases. "Hehe, no...there is no need for all of this."

Chichi frowned, "he needs to keep up with his studies while you guys are on your way to wherever you are going! I will not have my son fall behind in his lessons, or you can kiss him going with you goodbye."

Kagome sighed, "put only his bag with his clothes in it, and his books…on here…nothing else."

"..." Ox King looked at his daughter who sighed and nodded before he dropped everything and placed two bags on the ship with them.

Kagome shook her head and laughed lightly at the blush on Gohan's cheeks. She watched as his mother bowed her head with worry and smiled knowingly, "Chichi, we'll all be back soon. I promise, all of us will come back." A sudden thought called to her mind as she felt an urge to voice it. "The dragon balls...should be gathered while we are all away."

"Who will find them while you aren't here?"

"...I can look for them?"

Kagome looked up and saw two unfamiliar men on a carpet. "...oh...Piccolo...is that your dad?"

Piccolo groaned at her question, "no...if you must give him a familial title, it would be that of an uncle."

A hearty laugh found their ears at Piccolos comment. "Yes, an uncle. Then it doesn't sound weird for me to bid my nephew a safe journey. I'm sure you are aware of what will happen if you die."

"Tch...don't worry you old fool...I have no plans for dying..."

Kagome smiled sadly, "one very rarely plans for their own death..." she laughed at the glare Piccolo sent her way, but she turned her attention back to the two on the carpet that hovered just outside their reach. "You said you could gather the Dragon Balls?"

"We will start as soon as you depart, should you need them, we will have them."

Kagome nodded, "thank you. I hope we won't but call it a feeling...I'd rather be prepared."

Bulma started the ship and a hum sounded, "I hate to cut the farewells short, but we are leaving now." She said this and the lift to the shift began raising. Everyone waved their final farewells and Kagome sat with Gohan as he stared out the window and watched his mother until they were out of orbit too far for him to see her any longer. Everyone was finding their beds, four to each room as all three rooms had two bunk beds to satisfy the masses. Kagome, after seeing the inside of the large spacecraft Bulma had made, she had been surprised to say the least at how large it was. The rooms were divided with Tien, Chiaotzu and Yamcha in one room, Krillin, Goku, Piccolo and Raditz in another room, and Kagome with Bulma and Gohan in the last room.

"We'll see her again..." Gohan said more to himself, but a gentle hand on his head reassured him that they would be back.

"So this planet we are going to…the one located in 9045XY...what's it like?" Bulma asked Raditz as he watched the universe pass them as the ship flew through space.

"It's the Namekian's home planet."

Kagome lifted her eyes, "Namek, that's the home planet of the Dragon Ball's too, right?"

The group looked at Kagome.

Kagome frowned, "Was this information that you weren't aware of?"

Piccolo leveled her with a look, "perhaps you could fill us in with as much of this information you have."

Goku laughed, "Piccolo, can I borrow you for a minute? Kagome...cold you help Gohan with some of his homework?"

Kagome nodded as he stole Piccolo away to one of the empty rooms. She trusted him and trusted his judgement as far as who he chose to include in her life drama. Piccolo, when she'd spoken to him sixteen years in the future, he'd been levelheaded and mature about her and Vegeta, but she'd only spoken briefly with him. She watched them disappear and noticed Bulma and Raditz staring curiously at her before she laughed it off and shrugged her shoulders. "Gohan, go grab your work and we'll get started."

"Hey Raditz!" Krillin yelled out from down the hall.

"Tch, what is it!?" He yelled out as he walked off, forgetting all about Kagome and Piccolo's exchange.

"Come join me in the gravity room, I was going to train some." Krillin said as he and Raditz walked off towards the Gravity Chamber. Tien and Chiaotzu were already in their room doing meditative training on their own.

Bulma sighed, "this is going to be too much for me, a ship of testosterone and muscle." Placing the ship on autopilot before joining Kagome as they waited for Gohan to get his homework.

The girls and Gohan settled in for a long trip of homework and training as they started him on his first lesson before they arrived on Namek. Truly, it would be a long trip.
