Foreigners on Skull Island part 2
Two weeks later in the morning Tadashi woke up earlier than Bashira. He noticed that her scent changed, her pheromones indicated pregnancy. This made him joyed, he began rousing his mate.
"Bashira, wake up," he shouted excitedly whilst shaking her with his smaller pair of forelegs.
"What," she angrily hollered.
"You're pregnant," announced her husband. "I can smell it."
The femuto also sensed the odor but wasn't convinced about her pregnancy.
"Why aren't you happy? Isn't this what you wanted," enquired the puzzled male.
"It is... It's just hard for me to believe after years of failure. I can't yet believe it until I see the embryo or embryos," she replied emotionlessly. "I'm going back to sleep."
"Okay... So am I," he replied a little dull-spiritedly then, crept back into his sleeping place. On his way he glanced at her orange, egg-filled belly. He spotted something tiny and black with multiple thin parts stemming from it. Crawling closer and visually examining it better he recognized a miniature version of his kind, an embryo, who was consuming an infertile egg.
"Bashira," called loudly Tadashi.
"Now what! I almost fell asleep," she responded in a mad tone.
"I see a baby! I'm not joking, look at your belly, it's still there," exclaimed the Hokmuto.
The female checked her tummy, she was glad to witness her unborn child.
"Is this enough proof for you," asked the male.
"Yes," answered the female.
The M.U.T.O.'s nuzzled each other then, kissed. They were quite thrilled and happy that they were finally going to be parents. Bashira drifted off into dreamland again, Tadashi crept out of their cave, took wing and fluttered straight to above the ocean. He ascended to greater and greater elevations whilst flapping with his black, membraned wings. He decided to pierce a large white, fluffy cumulus cloud hanging low in the mostly cloudy sky. After implementing that he felt the stimulus to number 2, he released his stool. King Kong and Terkina were wading in the ocean and conversing when some dark brown objects, having the diameter between 3-5 meters suddenly impacted the spot 5 meters away from them. Both gorillas were completely taken by surprise, they didn't immediately realize what landed next to them, the waves generated by the crashes, which slammed into them and ruined Terk's hair, were the first things they perceived. After rubbing their eyes they could clearly see, the sight startled them, the putrid smell made them feel disgusted.
"I see someone dropped his bombs," roared King Kong out of rage when looking to the sky.
The Hokmuto descended to the apes.
"I'm terribly sorry, I didn't see you when I was taking a dump," he apologized as he flew in place.
"It's alright. Next time check if anyone is swimming under you," said the now calm silverback.
"Okay," said Tadashi. "Have you seen any whales," he enquired.
"We haven't seen any," answered Terk.
"Okay, thanks," he replied then, continued his fluttering around above the sea whilst looking for prey.
About half an hour later the male spotted the telltale sign of a whale's presence in the distance. King Kong also caught sight of it.
"Whale, 3 'o' clock," he bellowed.
"I see it, thanks," Tadashi shouted back gladly and bee lined towards his victim.
He flew in place above where the cetacean was supposed to emerge and straightened his legs. After it came up for air he dropped himself onto it, spiked it as he landed. He dragged his prey being underwater to the shore with the help of his flapping wings. Bashira had already awoken and was waiting for her mate on the shore. The M.U.T.O.'s had already dug in when the gorillas crept out of the sea. They greeted each other then, conversed for a while. Tadashi and Bashira didn't reveal the good news to the apes yet. The latter wondered back to their nest.
Five weeks later in the middle of a cloudless night, which the full moon slightly illuminated, the troop was forced out of sleep by sounds similar to creaking doors, Geiger counters, metal bending, trumpeting and blaring roars. Not only the band but Little Fari's pet moths were also forced out of sleep. As a result they expressed their disapproval with angry squeaking.
"Mommy what are these noises," Little Fari enquired in a scared way.
"I think the M.U.T.O.'s are making them. You don't have to be afraid of them," answered Inkesha sleepily.
The crying of an infant became audible. King Kong, Terkina, Ishema, Fari, Inkesha and Little Fari identified Keyta's and Kurudi's daughter as the source. Soon other infants in the same age group joined their acquaintance's baby one-by-one in vociferous bawling. Terk's mate decided to imitate them in his high, BeeGees voice for fun.
"Mom, one of the babies sounds very weird," said Kesho with concern to his mother, Amal.
"That's no baby, son, that's your uncle, Kong," she loudly replied so that her half-brother could hear it. "Isn't that right, Kong," she questioned with just the same amount of volume than before.
"Yes," he yelled feeling embarrassed after the clan came to the knowledge of him, due to his half-sister, copying baby noises.
"Kong, Terk, would you please tell your friends to quiet down," requested Fari.
"Okay," replied the silverback.
The male having taken a few steps from his nest realized the lacking of his partner from who he expected to join him. He abruptly turned around and looked down at his female, who was lying in their sleeping place, her large greenish brown eyes were slowly closing indicating her drifting into slumber. He crept close to her, grabbed her hands and pulled her up into sitting position.
"Wake up, stink ape. Let's go quiet the M.U.T.O.'s," said King Kong urgently.
Stink ape was one of the pet names he made up for Terk ever since he got sprayed by her. He rarely used this name and called her that sometimes when he noticed her doing something he disapproved of. She despised that pet name.
"I'm sleepy, bubble butt," she coarsely replied.
Bubble butt was the name Terk gave to Kong in return for stink ape based on the fact that male gorillas have larger buttocks than females. He hated that name.
"I don't want to go alone, I want to go with you," revealed the silverback in a calmer tone.
His mate understood him, got up, but didn't follow him yet.
"Do you take back calling me stink ape," she asked.
"Yes," responded King Kong. "Do you take back calling me bubble butt?"
"Yes," replied Terkina.
The two set off side-by-side into the darkness, patches of the forest floor were dressed in silver due to the moonshine accessing them through holes of the dense, leafy canopy. They only crawled about twenty meters when the male playfully and gently shoved his mate with his side who in return pushed him back the same way. The mutual pushing each other around shortly turned into a battle of trying to tip one over as they made their way to their destination.
"My little stink..." said Kong intending to finish the sentence with "ape" but quickly changed his idea due to bad feelings about the outcome if he were to finish his saying that way.
This caught the female's attention to the extent that she loosened her muscles and ended up being flipped over as a result.
"You, wanted to call me stink ape didn't you," she madly asked. "And you cheated," she shouted at him.
"I did, but I chose not to," he replied with guilt. At the end of his answer, he was standing over her. "I'm sorry."
"For what," wondered his wife, the motive of his apology being unclear to her.
"For cheating... and for wanting to call you stink ape," he confessed.
"It's all right," she answered.
The silverback lowered himself onto her to kiss her. She accepted by hugging him and the two kissed. He was about to get up when they heard an impatient voice and baby's crying increasing in power from behind them.
"Make the M.U.T.O.'s shut up already THEN, find a bush," yelled Indira who was holding her screaming infant.
"Okay, we're going," retorted Terk in an irritated way then, got up. "FYI, we were just kissing, nothing more," she sternly added whilst glowering.
"You had better," added the young mother acting as if she wanted to hand Kong's wife the baby.
"Hey, take that baby away from me," she roared at Indira in a displeased way then, instantly swiveled around. "Or do you want some eau de Terk?"
The male's life-mate looked back, she narrowed her eyes as if she were focusing her gaze on her target and stuck her bottom out. Her acquaintance scrambled away back into the jungle, she chased her speedily and backwards for a few seconds. King Kong and Terkina finally continued their journey. After they crept out of the woods they caught sight of the M.U.T.O.'s standing in front of each other, Tadashi on fours, Bashira on sixes, looking up to the starry sky whilst emitting those characteristic M.U.T.O. calls. They hastily crawled towards them on the moonlit sand, the cool, moist gusts made their dark fur ripple.
"Excuse me," shouted Kong to get their attention when they temporarily stayed silent.
Both creatures looked down to the source of the voice. They recognized the couple.
"Why are you making these loud noises at this time," enquired the male ape.
"This is something that mated couples of our species do before becoming life-mates, before mating or whenever something happens to them that makes them really happy. In our case it's the last variant. We're going to have 2 offspring," replied Tadashi.
"Congratulations," said Terk.
"Thanks," answered Bashira.
"First of all, congratulations. We're here because we have a request. This is the time our troop starts to sleep. Could you please stop making these sounds so that we can sleep," asked Kong.
"Yes, we're sorry," responded Tadashi. "By the way what creatures made those loud, high-pitched cries when we started emitting calls? One of the critters' cries sounded quite different from his or her kin, I'm concerned about his or her well-being, but it sounded funny."
"Those creatures were the smaller babies of my troop. My friend's little daughter started the "chorus" then, the other infants joined one by one. That cry which was different compared to the others was mine. I mimicked baby noises for fun," expounded the silverback then, copied baby crying in his BeeGees voice for seconds.
The M.U.T.O.'s giggled.
"Kong and I need to get some shut-eye. See you next time," said Terk.
"Later," said the male M.U.T.O.
"Good-bye," said the male ape.
"Bye," said the female M.U.T.O.
On the day which was 5 weeks later from the early afternoon occasional blaring roars could be heard from the direction of the beach. The troop suspected that Bashira was having her babies. In the early night King Kong, Terkina and Ishema returned from foraging, the noises, which had become more frequent, were still audible.
"How long has she been in labor," inquired Terk's mom in a concerned way.
"I don't know... I think we started hearing her cries when we were roving back home from Banagi's nest," answered her daughter. "Maybe about 7 hours."
"M.U.T.O. births usually last 6 hours, don't they? Is she okay," questioned Ishema.
"I don't know," replied Terkina. "I'm no expert in this," she added.
"I think we should go check on her," suggested the older female.
"Okay," responded Terk. "Hope I don't see anything nasty," she added.
"Oh, Ukuri, you were brought into the world the same way," reasoned Ishema.
"I know, but that doesn't change my opinion," retorted her daughter emotionlessly, slightly glowering.
The 3 apes set off to the shore. Having arrived they witnessed the femuto lying on her back, her hind legs were spread apart, the Hokmuto was by her side.
"Is everything okay," asked Terk's mother.
"I'm in horrible pain," shouted Bashira. "This is going really slow!"
"How long has she been in labor," enquired Ishema.
"About 8 hours," answered Tadashi nervously. "I don't know what to do," he added.
"If Bashira wants it then continue staying by her side. Bashira, can you probe your body up with your elbows? It may speed up the process," suggested the older gorilla lady.
"Yes," replied the femuto.
The creature did as suggested.
"This feels worse," exclaimed Bashira.
Terkina's mother crept in front of the muto to check the area between her legs.
"You're almost done," shouted the female gorilla. "Just a few more pushes."
A few minutes later the baby slid out of the female and emitted shrill cries.
"It's a girl," announced the Hokmuto.
His offspring looked like a miniature version of her mother except her head was a little larger compared to her body and her eyes were bigger compared to her head than the eyes of her mother compared to her head. She was thicker than her mother due to her baby fat. She raised her head and the first thing she perceived was Ishema. She released a happy noise whilst glancing at her.
"No, she's not your momma, she's the one who helped you into the world," said the male M.U.T.O. then, picked up his newborn daughter with his smaller pair of limbs so that his mate could see her. "She's your momma," he added.
He crept closer to Bashira whilst holding the baby, having reached her he placed the child on her chest. The femuto was glad to finally hold her newborn with her smaller pair of limbs. About 3 minutes later she delivered her son. The male baby uttered the same kind of calls as her sister as he took his first breaths. He pushed himself with his weak legs so that he could face his mother and began dragging his body in the sand towards her in hopes of returning to where he came from. Tadashi caught him red-handed whilst he was implementing this and immediately lifted him up with his smaller pair of limbs and brought him close to his face.
"Oh, no you don't. You're not going back in there," said the male M.U.T.O. Since the little one began observing his father ruining his plan he had been vocalizing dejectedly.
"Would you please give me the boy," requested the femuto while putting the girl down.
"Okay," said Tadashi.
As the M.U.T.O.'s daughter tried learning to walk as a newborn fawn Bashira held the son with her smaller pair of limbs and caressed him, the little one gradually quieted himself down.
"Do you have their names picked out," asked Kong's mother-in-law.
"Yes," answered Bashira. "The girl is Sakura and the boy's name is Hiroshima."
Sakura finally succeeded in standing on her sixes but stability was short-lived: she ended up falling on her bottom and released a short, surprised screech. This repeated a few times before acquiring the skill of walking. Tadashi took Hiroshima out of his mother's arms, which dissatisfied him. As a result he let his anger known by vehemently squirming, flailing and flapping his wings in the male's hands while letting out cries similar to the ones angry squirrels make that are longer in duration and left at the ends of their expressions.
"Don't drop him," said Bashira in a concerned way.
The Hokmuto ignored his son's protests and placed him in the sand. Hiroshima became silent and calm within seconds then, tried walking. After several unsuccessful trials he managed to creep like adults do then, wondered to his sister who was exploring her surroundings close to the apes. The femuto carefully got up after feeling less painful contractions and began digging a hole in the sand with her second pair of limbs. Her babies curiously approached her and examined her dragging sand out, deepening the pit. Then, they began imitating her. After a short while they discovered that they could fling the sand and began having a playful "sand fight" then, jumped into the freshly dug hole. Bashira scooped them out.
"Tadashi, could you take the kids away while I birth the placenta? I don't want them jumping in the pit while I do it," requested the female M.U.T.O. holding one kid in each of her limbs of the second pair.
"Okay," replied the male who carefully took their babies from her and transported them further away.
The gorillas followed the Hokmuto. When the children were placed on the ground they began spatiating back to their mother. Tadashi instantly stopped them by lowering himself and spreading out his wings to block them. The kids looked up at him and started making whiny M.U.T.O. vocalizations.
"No, you can't go to your mother, she's busy right now," said the male to Sakura and Hiroshima.
The little M.U.T.O.'s stayed speechless for a few seconds then, began conversing with one another emitting calls M.U.T.O.'s do, since they weren't able to speak yet, and gesticulating.
"What are they saying," asked Terk.
"They plan to dig under my wing and go to their mother but we aren't going to let this happen," replied Tadashi.
The Hokmuto started digging a hole in the sand with his small pair of limbs. This raised the children's attention who eagerly waited for the ditch to be complete. The male M.U.T.O. having observed his children's deep inspection of what he was doing probed himself with his large wings and began to dig with his second pair of legs to get done quicker. After he finished his offspring excitedly leapt into the hole then, started a "sand fight." The apes and Tadashi were deep in conversation when the male M.U.T.O. noticed silence instead of noises similar to creaking doors and Geiger counters on Helium. He glanced into the pit, the sight startled him: his babies had disappeared. Not even a second later a part of the slope-like border dividing the surface of the ground from the deepest area of the ditch slightly moved causing some sand to roll down it.
"When little kids are very quiet that usually means trouble," said Ishema.
"They seem to have started digging a tunnel leading to Bashira," concluded Terkina.
Tadashi pushed the sand over the alleged underground route into the pit with his second pair of legs gradually uncovering his kids. Having discovered their father ruining the carrying out of their plan when they could see light they let their aggravation be heard with angry, high-pitched creaks. The femuto arrived on the scene.
"Why are the kids covered in sand," she enquired.
"They were in the process of "swimming to you" in the sand. I found out, uncovered them and now they're mad at me for this," explained the Hokmuto.
Bashira was pleased to hear that her children missed her. She scooped them out of pit. Since it was time for the gorillas to return to the band and sleep they bid the M.U.T.O.'s adieu. Not long after they began wondering back to their dwelling place when muffled crunches raised their attention. Looking back they witnessed Sakura stepping towards them, she released made an excited creak when she realized the gorillas were looking at her. Bashira crept after her to fetch her.
"No, you're not going off to live with the gorillas, you're coming with us," she said to her daughter when she reached her and redirected her.
The little M.U.T.O. girl followed her mother for a while then, abruptly turned around and hurried towards the apes who were just about to enter the woods. The femuto noticing this growled agitatedly and stormed after her daughter.
"Sakura," she strictly hollered.
The little one turned towards the source of the voice.
"Get over here! You'll see the kongs some other time," said her mother.
Sakura slowly crept back to her, her head hanging low.
"Aaaaawww. Poor kid. She just wanted to be with us," said Terk's mother with a tint of sorrow.
"I probably know what will make her laugh," chimed in King Kong enthusiastically.
"I don't think this is..." advised Terk, but was cut off by her mate's high-pitched BeeGees voice baby crying imitation.
The M.U.T.O. babies became amused and rushed to the silverback, even their eyes glowed more, they even raised their tails. Tadashi was laughing, Bashira face palmed and shook her head in dismay, finally, the smaller babies of the ape troop began vociferously crying at once.
"KONG," screamed several band members in unison in an unsatisfied way.
"Oopsie," shouted the male gorilla back at them. "Sorry," he also added guilt-fully.
After parting with the primates the M.U.T.O. family roved home. The children had the chance to start getting acquainted with their parents and cuddle with them. The little ones slept nestled against their mother's body. The nuke, which Tadashi had previously brought from abroad, laid close to them on the other side so that they could feed off of its radiation. This was their first night.
