Pilot part 2
Alex felt shivers run through her body as the weight of something's gaze settles onto her as they drive further from the bridge, she wildly twists around in her seat to stare out the back window. Her eyes search for the source of the uncomfortable shivers down her spine. But she finds nothing. Dean notices her fidgeting and shoots her a worried glance, "You ok back there brat, don't tell me a little hunt is making you scared." Alex scoffs more than a little unnerved.
"God no, it's just…it felt like something was watching me."
Sam and Dean share a glance, having a full silent conversation, "It could have been the thing we are hunting and that dad was after, or one of the officers, did you see anything." Sam looks out the window eyes searching the road side and forest as it flies by.
"No, nothing…. Come on, let's just go find this missing guy's girlfriend, you said she was in town putting up missing posters right?" Alex continues to gaze out the back, eyes still searching for the source of her discomfort.
"Yea, she's the sheriff's daughter…wonder if she is legal, she might need a shoulder to cry on" Dean looks back at you and wriggles his eyebrows.
"Jesus Dean! Can't you ever keep it in your pants," Sam whacks him across the arm and gives him a look of extreme exasperation. Alex sighs in disgust.
"Why did you have to be a Man Whore." She flicks the back of his head. A heated glare is sent her way.
"I was kidding, you 2 don't have to become abusive!'' The pout on his face was childish and upset. Alex just rolls her eyes and scoffs, Dean looks away mumbling curses under his breath.
The town passes by them outside the window, a few shops here and there with an older style cinema in the middle of town. Alex found the atmosphere charming and quaint. She always loved quiet towns, but there are the ones you need to be careful of, monsters tend to target rural areas over urban cities. Cities have too many people and too many witnesses, cities usually hold ghosts or poltergeists due to high crime and murders.
Much easier to crowd and hunt within a smaller area. Easier for a hunter to recognize the signs of a problem though. When people start disappearing the same way with no explanation, like the current murders, it's usually the work of something hungry or vengeful.
As they get closer to the cinema they spot 2 young women going from shop to shop and putting up missing person fliers of the kid whose car was found on the bridge, "that's got to be them…" Alex can see the look on Dean's face before he says anything, "god! Fine you and Sam can go talk to them, I'll go to the library and look for legends of hauntings and possible monsters around here."
Dean has a look of regret on his face, "Sorry brat….it's more believable if we don't show up with a kid, you can come next time, I swear."
"….fine" with huff she climbs out of the back seat and approaches a nearby woman to ask for directions. She was a sweet old thing, tiny and has those warm caring eyes that make you feel welcome and cared for. She's' more than happy to tell Alex directions and point out the way. As Alex thanks the woman and takes her leave, rounding a corner she fails to see the old woman's gaze flash blue before returning to normal, the old woman glances around herself in confusion, how had she got here.
Alex is heading in the direction of the library when once again gets the brief feeling of being watched before it disappears altogether, with quick glance around finding nothing once again she brushes aside the unnerving tickle in her spine and enters the spacious and old library, she's quick to approach one of the computers and gets to work on her research into the town history and any other possible linked deaths. Alex glares at the screen in front of her, it was so damn slow, if only Sam were here.
Alex was beginning to believe her brother created and pulsed free wi-fi from his body. He had access to it everywhere! She saw him using his little phone planner thing.
She was seconds from putting her fist through the damn screen when the web browser finally loads, she hadn't even realized that her eyes had begun to glow red until her reflection in the screen surprised her. She ducks her head down and glances around herself, no one was in her section so she was safe….for now.
'What's wrong with me, it keeps happening more and more' sigh, 'Why does this happen to me anyway, that first time was the worst...Dad was there to see it.'
Flashback
A 7 year old Alex is sitting in the middle of a rundown living room, another one of the many hideouts she's lived in all her life. Her daddy and big brother Dean had left early that morning for one of their special jobs. They don't tell her what they do but she doesn't mind, if it's important her daddy will tell her. She was left with Sammy today and she was so happy to get to play with him all morning.
By afternoon though she could see Sam start to get nervous constantly checking the windows and making sure the door was locked, she spotted him worryingly shifting his shiny metal thing in his hands, she wasn't sure what it was just that it was really loud when daddy taught her brother how to use it.
It was late at night and she was tucked away in bed asleep when she heard it, a loud crash followed by what sounded like a struggle breaking glassing and falling books waking her up in a scared fright.
She finally gathers up the courage to slide out of bed with her tiny feet settling softly onto the floor, when everything happening downstairs goes silent. She slowly eases from her room little feet silent against the dusty floor as she makes her way down the hallway. As she reaches the top of the stairs she debates calling for Sam, but a thought makes her stop. 'What if there's a bad man downstairs and he hurts sammy…' with determination she slowly eases her tiny form down the stairs, careful to not make any noise. When she reaches the bottom step she has to forcefully stop the shreaak from leaving her lips by covering her mouth in horror.
Sammy was pinned to the floor, a man she'd never seen before had his hands around his throat as Sammy tried to push him off one hand against the man's chest the other keeping the man from lowering his face any closer to Sam's neck. From where she stood she could see one side of the man's face and his snarl. He had rotting flesh hanging from his forehead, teeth sharp and yellowed. Black ooze dripped from his lips and side where it pooled and stained the man's ripped and dirty shirt. His hair was greasy and soaked in the ooze. She would later find out this man was known as a ghoul.
Her horror was soon replaced by a deep anger seeing her precious brother suffer and then something within her snapped when she saw fear fill his face as his hand keeping the beast at bay slipped.
Next thing she knew her body was being lifted, as startled shouts sound around her, her arms were sticky covered in something black and slimey. Sam's face came into her vision looking at her with a bit of fear, Dean was soon grabbing her cheeks, his face filling up all she could see as he looked into her eyes with horror.
She felt something else though a cool sharp object pricking her neck. Dean looked startled, "Dad what are you doing!"
"Look at her eyes Dean, this isn't your sister."
My eyes stare up at them in confusion, Glowing red embers, locked in a stare with my father.
"Daddy….What happened, where did that mean man hurting sammy go?" Then men glance at each other, before John finally lowers his knife as the red flickers before fading from view.
John looks into the room behind them, at the mess that was left behind. He'd come into the house guns ready to kill the ghoul that got away only to come face to face with his precious little girl slamming an old book repeatedly into a mess of black goo as she sat on the back of the man that used to hold the head of an old ghoul. When he saw her Glowing red eyes he felt something in him shatter thinking he lost his only girl.
Flashback end
The memory still haunts her. She didn't remember leaving the steps or even tackling the man of Sam with strength her little body shouldn't have had. Ever since then whenever she felt any kind of intense emotion her eyes would shine red, like glowing hot coals. Shaking her head from her depressing thoughts she puts her focus back onto the hunt.
To her ever growing annoyance every article she searched bore no results, of course there's the usual legends and back water disappearances but none pertaining to her case.
"Ok, how bout we look up the bridge…" as she begins to type a search her chair is yanked back and 2 sets of broad shoulders are placed in her vision, "hey!"
She was angry, and she couldn't even yell out her frustrations. She was not about to let that old croan at the front desk have a reason to kick her out. She could feel the hags' eyes burning into her back from the other side of the library.
"Calm down tiny, you've been here for an hour and haven't found anything, let the master do his magic" Dean gives her one of his know it all smirks and enters something into the search bar, the screen loads for a few seconds before popping up blank with zero results.
"Oh big brother…..I'm so impressed please pass on to me your wisdom" the smirk is wiped from his face and is replaced with a pout when Sam shoves him out of the way.
"Instead of murder let's try suicide" she hears him click away at the keys and a single article pops onto the screen, "Constance Welsh, committed suicide after finding her two children drowned in the tub after looking away from them for a second."
"God damn…..poor woman that must have been horrible…we should go check out the bridge." Sam and Dean nod in agreement and we make our way out of the library past the ancient hag and into the car, she clambers into the back seat and settles down for the ride.
When they arrive Alex, Dean and Sam walk along the bridge, and stop to lean on the railing and look down at the river.
Dean glares down at the water, "So this is where Constance took the swan dive."
"So you think Dad would have been here?" Sam looks at the two of them with trepidation.
Alex shakes her head exasperated, "Daddy is the best hunter around, he would look into everything." Sam looks at her like she has grown a second head then looks over at Dean.
"Well, he's chasing the same story and we're chasing him." Dean gives a shrug and walks further down the bridge inspecting the surroundings. Taking in every detail looking for anything out of place. Sam follows close behind an irritated grimace overtaking his features.
"Okay, so now what?"
Dean shrugs and glances back at them.
"Now we keep digging until we find him. Might take a while."
Sam comes to a stop and sighs, not liking where this was going, his irritation spreading. Alex can see the fight unfolding before her eyes and backs away from them, deciding not to enter this one. She's not giving Sam a reason to say his horrible things to her again.
"Dean, I told you, I've gotta get back by Monday" Sam is done with his brother's crap.
Dean turns around and narrows his gaze at him.
"Monday. Right. The interview." His reply is sarcastic and dry.
"Yeah."
"Yeah, I forgot. You're really serious about this, aren't you? You think you're just going to become some lawyer? Marry your girl?" his tone gets more and more mocking as he goes.
"Maybe. Why not?" Sam shrugs and glares. Alex begins shrinking away from them flinching with every word, fights never went well in her family, last time they fought Sammy left and when she tried to talk him out of it, he had rounded on her screaming about how she didn't have any say in what he does because she didn't understand and that she was a freak who probably wasn't even human and was glad to finally be able to get away from her clingy and annoying nature. She had changed after that, closing herself off for a few months Sam had been her rock at one point, comforting her when dad and dean would be gone for long periods, she forced herself to grow up becoming close with Dean and forming a tight bond with him, going on partner hunts and having eachothers back, her sassy and strong willed nature growing everyday.
"Does Jessica know the truth about you? I mean, does she know about the things you've done?" Sam steps closer threateningly.
"No, and she's not ever going to know." Dean and Sam are now face to face, their glares digging into each other and Alex has retreated back several steps, shoulders shaking expecting Sam to lash out at her any second.
"Well, that's healthy. You can pretend all you want, Sammy. But sooner or later you're going to have to face up to who you really are."
Dean whips around and stalks off with Sam close behind on his heels.
"And who's that?" His voice is dangerous and on edge.
"You're one of us." Deans hand waves between him and Alex.
Sam hurries to get in front of Dean. His teeth bared and chest puffed out.
"Never. I'm not like you 2. This is not going to be my life."
"You have a responsibility to us, to.."
"To Dad? And his crusade? If it weren't for pictures I wouldn't even remember what Mom looks like, hell Alex barely had even 2 days with her. And what difference would it make? Even if we do find the thing that killed her, Mom's gone. And she isn't coming back."
Dean snaps and grabs Sam by the collar and shoves him up against the railing of the bridge. The atmosphere is thick and Alex could see them thrumming with rage, her own heart felt like shattering at Sam's words, 'how could he say that about mom.'
"Don't talk about her like that! You have no right to disgrace her memory like that."
As the rage calms down Dean lets go of his coat and briskly walks over to Alex wrapping his arm around her. His head swivels around once more but stops in it tracks when he sees the billowing white form of Constance,
"Sam. Alex!"
Sam comes to stand next to Dean and Alex. Constance looks over at them, then steps forward off the edge. They run to the railing and look over but she is nowhere to be seen.
Alex stares in confusion and shares the glance with her brothers, "Where'd she go?"
"I don't know." Same looks around troubled. Behind them, the Impala's engine starts and its headlights come on. They all turn to look at the car surprise coating their faces.
"What the fuck!" Alex feels a whack hit the back of her head, dean hand lowers with a glare.
"language"
"Who's driving your car?" Sam gulps, worry coats his voice like thick syrup.
Dean pulls the keys out of his pocket and jingles them. They glanced at them. The car jerks into motion, heading straight for them. They turn and run.
"Hurry! Go! Go!" Sam screams and pushes Alex forward with her shorter legs not carrying her as fast.
The car is moving faster than they are; when it gets too close, the brothers dive over the railing and Alex feels the car collide with her back followed by a searing pain and crack as she's rammed over the edge and into the water. Sam has caught himself on the edge of the bridge and is hanging on. He pulls himself up onto the bridge and looks around.
"Dean? Alex!" Sam looks around frantically not seeing his brother and little sister.
Below, a filthy and annoyed Dean crawls out of the water and onto the mud, panting. Alex halls herself up onto the bank next to him, the pain in her back unimaginable and there is a trail of blood pools in her mouth and dribbles down her chin. She spits out the blood and groans out as the pain ebbs a bit.
"I hate bitch ghosts" Alex lets her face plop down into the mud with a loud squelch, her normally pearlescent hair black with dirt.
"What?"
Sam sighs with relief "Hey! Are you guys all right?"
Dean holds up one hand in an A-OK sign. Alex however holds up a more undignified finger in response.
"I'm super!" he groans.
Alex lets he hand flop back down, "Fuck off!"
Sam laughs, relieved that his siblings are ok, and scoots away from the edge. Quick to get back on safe ground.
Dean shuts the hood of his car and leans on it. Irritation paints his face while Alex lays flat on the ground, having forced her numb legs to move through the slowly ebbing pain and drag herself up onto the bridge, completely done with this ghost.
"Your car all right?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, whatever she did to it, seems all right now. That Constance chick, what a bitch!" Dean leans back against the car and tries to relax.
"Well, she doesn't want us here, that's for sure. So where's the job going from here, genius? And you going to be ok down there pip squeak"
Sam settles on the hood next to Dean. Dean throws up his arms in frustration, then flicks mud off his hands painting the ground with it and splattering more onto Alex. Sam sniffs, then looks at Dean and down to Alex.
"You guys smell like a porta potty."
Dean looks down, totally done with this night and lightly kicks his lazing sister. His only response is a slap to his ankle and a childish whine. She is slow to stand wobbling in place and opens the door to the back seat, "nearest motel pronto, I've got mud in places it has no right to be."
Dean and Sam's face scrunches up in disgust and they slide into the front seats, "I did not need to hear that." Alex just chuckles in response and settles down for a nap, she deserved one, her back was killing her and she was still trying to piece together how she was still alive. That car had hit her with full force and sent her spiraling into the river and with a back she was 100% sure had been broken by the impact, she was definitely bleeding inside a bit but other than that the pain was going away becoming incredibly sore, and her back no longer felt like it had snapped. No broken bones, no nothing. 'What is wrong with me?'
The car comes to a stop after a bit and Sam drags Dean into the front desk to rent a room. They are barely in there for 5 minutes before they are storming out looks of surprise on their faces, Sam answers her question before she can open her mouth, "Dad has a room still here."
"Well what are we waiting for, let's get in there." She pushes against their backs to hurry them along her legs slowly gaining back a semblance of balance.
As Sam picks the lock Dean lazily looks around the parking lot, he's not paying attention when the door opens so Alex latches onto his collar and drags him into the room. Spyring some of her dad's clothes left in the room she grabs them and turns to her brothers. "You guys look around I'm hijacking that shower." She waltzes into the bathroom and slams the door behind her, she can hear them shuffle around and speak to each other about the case and their dad's location.
She starts the shower and is pleasantly surprised to find it actually has warm water, she strips down and hops in eager to be clean and scrub the filth from her body. As she scrubs the mud off and spreads the soap along her body she admires the markings scrawling from her neck down her arms and ends at the tips of her fingers, symbols, twisting around each other. Their meaning was unknown and she couldn't recognize the swirls or sudden twists and turns, letters of some kind. She had been born with them, Apparently as a baby it was unrecognisable as words just looked like black splotches covering her arms in what everyone just assumed was a giant birthmark, it was after the incident with the ghoul that they started making certain patterns as she grew and her skin and arms stretched.
She steps out of the shower after the water going down the drain changed from a murky black to clear and clean. She runs the towel along her body and pulls on the clean clothes she found stashed in the room. They were huge on her, the shirt dwarfed her and the flannel over the shirt drowned her frame. She pulls on the pants and tightens the belt to her waist then pulls on her shoes and stuffs the extra length on her jeans into the boots. She looked herself over in the mirror, the clothes dwarfed her small frame and made her look adorable, the clothes still held her father's cologne and natural scent, a combination of gunpowder and earthy forest smells.
She walks out of the bathroom and Dean quickly takes his chance to get cleaned, Sam is on his phone talking to Jess, he says goodbye and hangs up, the silence in the room deafening and thick. He takes in her appearance with a raised eyebrow.
"…..their dads, he left em, any updates on the case."
"Yes, dad found the same article we did, and interviewed the husband." Alex gives a nod in understanding and flops down onto the bed, ignoring his presence, the soreness in her body all but gone, the only indicator of it ever being there was the occasional twinge in her spine. Within minutes her body succumbs to sleep.
Dream
There is black everywhere it encompasses her being, she's floating in the void, a feeling of worthlessness and self-loathing is drowning her in the dark. Her mind begins going blank as she suffocates in its grasp.
'where am I'
'it's so cold'
Her eyes refuse to open no matter how hard she tries to will them. Her body is numb and cold. The dark begins to cloud her mind completely until a bright light flares through her eyelids and a loud screech fills her senses, it lasts a few seconds before the piercing sound is replaced with a soft masculine hum and the light is now only a warm glow. With a flutter her eyes open and she is met with a flash of crystalline blue eyes and Dirty blonde locks. The eyes were filled with sorrow and pain. Something within her begged to make that pain go away, to help him. Her vision ebbs away into black as her hand reaches out to him, she only fills a brief feeling of something soft and almost feathery and the sound of a surprised whimper before she's once again in darkness.
End Dream
She wakes with a start, 'what was that?' She had never had a dream like that before and who was that man, I couldn't see his face, but those eyes, they were so bright and sharp, filled with so much pain. 'When my hand touched him reacted like an abused dog who hasn't been shown any love in years' that whimper haunted her ear as she sat up in the bed.
So deep in thought she nearly misses the panicked look on her brother, Sam's, face before he is suddenly yanking her into the bathroom and out the back window.
"Sam? What is going on."
"Police, Dean just called, he is stalling them out front, and our cover is blown." Alex nods a serious look taking over her feature and she is quick to hop out the window where she is soon joined with Sam.
"Ok Alex, we need to finish this case to find dad, while Dean stalls we are gonna go question the husband and find out where she was buried."
"Right!" With a quick nod the two of them approach the impala and quickly take off leaving the motel behind. The ride to the junk yard where the husband resides is quiet and tense.

Alex watches her brother interview the man, everything is going fine and Sam makes his way back to the car until he decides to open his big damn mouth and pisses off the man, Sam opens the driver seat and hops in.
"Sam, you can't just go around spouting off that shit, normal people don't understand!"
Sam starts the car and sets course for the old Welsh residence, "yeah, I get it, no need to be all up my ass." With a sigh he flips open his phone, she cant see who he is dialing until he holds the phone to his ear, "Hey I heard some gunshots go off near my property and there was some shouting…mmhm..ya..thank you" he snaps the phone closed and sends her a smirks.
"Would you look at that, big goody two shoes Sam just broke the law" She scoffs and it's only a few minutes before Sam's phone goes off, she can hear Dean's voice on the other end Sam begins ranting.
"Dean I talked to the husband, Dad knew where she was buried, I just can't understand why he didn't salt and burn the body." Sams face suddenly drops, "he doesn't go anywhere without that."
"Sam…what's going on-" the brakes are slammed and Alex lurches forward. Constance had appeared in the middle of the road. Alex has no time to catch her breath before her door is flung open and she is sent flying out of the car and onto the concrete road. She rolls onto knees and lunges for the car but the door slams shut, locks, and then floors it, leaving her on the road in the middle of nowhere.
"Sammy!"
Alex Sprints after the Impala, it's no longer in sight. It feels as though she was running for hours before the outline of an old decrepit house comes into view, the echoing sounds of gunshots and shattering glass reverberating through the field as she doubles her efforts in running.
She is able to make it to Dean's side as the Impala shoots forward into the house plunging through the exterior like paper. She could Dean's horrified gasp. It sounded as if he choked on a lung and he launched forward.
Alex is quick to Sam's side, "are you ok!" She may be epicly pissed with him and his hostile words towards her but he's still her brother.
They have a seconds reprieve before a dresser is slammed into their fronts pinning them to the car. Constance flickers into existence and she leans over to pick up a photo of 2 children, water begins to trickle and spill down the stairs and two ghostly small apparitions latch onto the older of the 3.
"YOU'VE COME HOME TO US MOMMY!'' Their voices are small and devoid of emotion, Constance begins to scream as black and purple goop forms and clings to her body dragging her down, her face shifts between human and skull aspects as she violently flails and her screams echo throughout the house. When it's over all that's left is a water spot in the carpet.
"This must be where Constance drowned her kids."
Dean pushes the dresser away from them and turns to quickly inspect his car.
"Sammy I swear to god if there is so much as a scratch I'm gonna kill you!" Dean begins inspecting the car while Alex and Sam watch him fondly.
Sam turns towards Alex with a deep sigh, "We need to talk about the things I said to you that night, I have to apologize and at least attempt to make things right." Alex can only stare before nodding in defeat, what he said that night was horrible, but they can't keep this tension up forever after all.
1 day later
Sam slides out of the front seat of the impala and begins walking towards his dorm, "Sam! We all made a good team back there."
Sam glances back. "Maybe I'll see you guys around, I'll call, I promise." And with that he fades from view inside the complex. Dean puts the car into drive and exits onto the dark road, "Just you and me again tiny."
Alex sends him a strained smile and stares back at Sam's dorm…she's about to settle in when she is hit with a horrible gut wrenching feeling. Her stomach feels as if it just ripped itself apart and her heart is being pulverized, "DEAN GO BACK! SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH SAMMY!"
Dean doesn't even question it, the sound of pure fear and choked worry in his sister's voice sets him off. He can hear sobs wrench themselves from her throat, as they peel into the parking lot a ball of fire explodes from Sam's window, Dean is out of the car and busting through the door before the car is even at a full stop. Alex waits with a baited breath, her head swimming with worry and horror, her whole body relaxes when Dean runs out dragging a kicking and screaming Sam behind him, her relief is replaced with horror when she hears her brother's tortured screams, his whole body convulsing with anger and crushed desolate sobs.
"JESS"
Somewhere else deep within a cold darkness
Icy blue eyes stare into the dark, a hum leaves deep in timbur.
'What kind of trick was this place trying to pull…. Why had that touch been so soft, those diamond silvery blue eyes, I couldn't see a face, only an outline...Who were they?'
The eyes close as they settle in for another session, this one would be long...they could feel it.

And Ch 3 Rewrite is now completed, i'm on a roll and as soon as i finish with these i have 2 new chapters to put out. For this chapter I changed up her feelings toward Sammy, I went into detail about the aspect of her eyes, and I added more to the strange dream as well as added a preview from the mystery man's side of the dream.
I didn't go into detail on Sam and hers talk for several reasons, it was a very long talk, and i will be making flashback references to it later around season 2 or 3. This book will be going all the way to season 15. Im pumped and ready to do this story justice.
