Phantom Traveler

3rd P.o.v

Far from the previous hunt, the three siblings have found a cheap motel to rest and recover, mainly to allow the youngest to recover; she had slept through most of their remaining days in the small town worrying her brothers. She finally woke up a few days before they left, tired and groggy, as they packed the car and Dean said his goodbyes to Lucas and his mother Andrea.

Alex had plopped into the back seat with a groan. When they had arrived at the motel Alex was the first into the shower, Her back leaned against the shower as pain wracked her body, She was forced to hold in her groans as her back felt like something was attempting to split it open. Alex had to suddenly bite back a scream as another sharp jabbing pain stabbed through her back before dissipating all together. She slid down the shower wall into the bottom of the tub as her body shook with a force she wasn't used to. 'What is wrong with me?'

She stayed in the shower until she was positive the pain would not return and climbed out of the tub turning off the water.

Standing on shaking legs she slips into a pair of fluffy shorts and one of Dean's t-shirts, a large cramp has made its home in between her shoulders as she leaves the washroom behind and enters the main room. Sam wasn't in the room and Dean was already asleep on his stomach. She looks at the other bed for a moment before hesitantly climbing into the bed beside Dean and curling into his side, needing the physical comfort of her big brother. DEan gives a soft groan, eyes opening into drowsy slits, "Alex?..." He takes one sleepy look over her face and without saying anything else he wraps his arms around her smaller body and pulls her into his side. The two siblings fall into a comfortable slumber. One wrapped in the protective arms of the other. Several hours later finds the both of them tangled in a mass of limbs and blankets.

As they continue to sleep the door to the motel opens, Dean is woken up glancing at his sister to assure her safety he slips his hand under his pillow for his knife. Moving slowly he faces the door, and sees Sam entering, carrying coffee and pastries.

Sam eyes Dean's tensed body that was slowly relaxing. "Morning, sunshine."

Dean groans and flops back onto the bed running a hand down his face, "What time is it?"

Sam glances at his watch, "Uh, it's about five forty-five."

This receives a horrified look from Dean , "In the morning?!"

"Yep."

"What the fuck is wrong with you..Morning freak." That earns Dean a bagel to the face. Dean sits up and takes a bite of the savory treat. "Did you get any sleep last night?"

Sam doesn't meet his eyes and shrugs, "Yeah, I grabbed a couple hours."

Alex groans from beside Dean and hefts her body up onto her arms, "Liar, You were gone when we went to sleep and the other bed hasn't been touched.." She leans over and snags a bite from Dean's bagel, he glares at her and finishes it off before examining their brother again.

"When was the last time you got a good night's sleep?"

"I don't know, a little while, I guess. It's not a big deal."

Alex snorts, "Yes it is Samantha."

"Look, I appreciate your concern"

Dean shakes his head, "Oh, I'm not concerned about you. It's your job to keep my ass alive, so I need you sharp."

Alex jabs her Elbow into Dean's side, "I'm here to ass" Dean chuckles and ruffles her pearlescent locks. Sam just shrugs.

"Seriously, are you still having nightmares about Jess?"

Sam crosses the room, sits on the other bed, and hands a coffee to both of them. Alex greedily sips the Heavenly brew. Allowing its warmth to wake her up more.

Sam sighs before giving in to them, "Yeah. But it's not just her. It's everything. I just forgot, you know? This job. Man, it gets to you."

"You can't let it. You can't bring it home like that." Alex nods in agreement.

"Nothing good will come of it sammy.."

"So, what? All of this...never keeps you up at night?"

Dean shrugs an indifferent look crossing his face. Alex Looks between them, And very lightly says, "If it ever does i have you guys to back me up, so i don't need to be afraid."

Sam smiles lightly and looks Dean in the eyes, "Never? You're never afraid?"

"No, not really." Alex hides her giggle behind her hand as Sam reaches under Dean's pillow to pull out a large hunting knife and holds it up as evidence. Dean quickly pulls the knife back and puts it back under his pillow..

"That's not fear. That is precaution." Alex pulls a knife from the back of her shorts and waves it at Sam.

"Yeah, whatever. I'm too tired to argue with you both."

As they enjoy their coffee in silence and ring slices through the silence, its Deans phone. He grabs it off the nightstand and glances at it, the number is unknown.

"Hello?"

Alex can hear an unfamiliar male voice from the other side of the phone. Dean talks to the man for a few moments before hanging up and eyes both of them. "We got another hunt." Alex groans and slips out of bed and into the bathroom changing into her normal outfit of her fathers oversized clothes and begins packing her bag.

The three of them leave the hotel and clamber into the impala, Alex settles into the back seat preparing herself for a long drive to their next destination, "So what do we know so far?"

Several long hours later

Alex sticks close to her brothers as they follow an older man through what looks like a mechanical workshop for planes, her eyes Taking in all the machinery in a bit of awe. Those engines were huge! The man, She learned was named Jerry, led them into a small side office, closed the door behind them and turned to address them.

"Thanks for making the trip so quick. I ought to be doing you guys a favor, not the other way around. Dean and your dad really helped me out." Alex wasn't taken on that one, She was left with bobby for the weekend, she had been hurt on the hunt before it.

"Yeah, he told us. It was a poltergeist?"

A man outside the office window exclaims "Poltergeist? Man, I loved that movie."

Jerry pokes his head at the window and glares at the guy, "Hey, nobody's talking to you. Keep walking. Damn right it was a poltergeist, practically tore our house apart. Tell you something, if it wasn't for you and your dad, I probably wouldn't be alive. Your dad said you were off at college. Is that right?

"Yeah, I was. I'm—taking some time off."

Jerry gives him a small smile and glances at Alex curiously, "Well, he was real proud of you. I could tell. He talked about you all the time. He...never mentioned a daughter though."

Sam has to fight a surprised smile off his face, but Alex feels a hole open in her heart...he talked about Sam..but not her.

"He did

"Yeah, you bet he did. Oh, hey, you know I tried to get a hold of him, but I couldn't. How's he doing, anyway?" No one but Dean noticed the pained look grow in his sisters eyes. And answers the question for them.

"He's, um, wrapped up in a job right now."

Jerry smiles reassuringly and pats Sam on the shoulder.

"Well, we're missing the old man, but we get Sam. Even trade, huh?"

Dean glances at his sister again as she gives a strained laugh.

Sam flustered and added, "No, not by a long shot."

Jerry nods and heads behind his desk to mess with something on it surface

"I got something I want you guys to hear. I listened to this. And, well, it sounded like it was up your alley."

Jerry pulls out a CD and places it into a drive. "Normally I wouldn't have access to this. It's the cockpit voice recorder for United Britannia flight 2485. It was one of ours."

Alex approaches the side of the desk to listen alongside her brothers. A static fills the room and a panicked man's voice yells on the recording.

"Mayday! Mayday! Repeat! This is United Britannia 2485—immediate instruction help! United Britanis 2485, I copy your message—May be experiencing some mechanical failure…" A loud swoosh and what seemed like a screech.

Jerry sighs and rubs his eyes, Alex could see how tired he was, dark circles rimmed the bottom of his eyes.

"Took off from here, crashed about two hundred miles south. Now, they're saying mechanical failure. Cabin depressurized somehow. Nobody knows why. Over a hundred people on board. Only seven got out alive. Pilot was one. His name is Chuck Lambert. He's a good friend of mine. Chuck is, uh...well, he's pretty broken up about it. Like it was his fault."

She speaks up for the first time since they arrived, "You dont think it was, right?"

Jerry shakes his head. "You're right, I don't."

Sam nods and gets into work mode, "Jerry, we're gonna need passenger manifests, um, a list of survivors."

Jerry nods in understanding, "All right."

Dean slides in next to Alex and bumps shoulders with her, before asking his own questions.

"And, uh, any way we can take a look at the wreckage?"

Jerry sighs and shakes his head in the negative, "The other stuff is no problem. But the wreckage...fellas, the NTSB has it locked down in an evidence warehouse. No way I've got that kind of clearance."

Dean frowns before smirking. "No problem." The three of them leave the warehouse and get back into the car, "time for a pit stop."

$% $%

Sam and Alex are waiting by the car outside a Copy Jack. To Alex the silence between them is awkward and even a bit tense. A crack had formed in her heart and it wasn't closing...she couldn't believe that their dad hadn't even mentioned her but he talked about how proud he was of the son who left them and never looked back. Dean exits the Store and approaches the both of them, he automatically wraps his arm around his younger sister giving her an unknown comfort.

Sam grunts and opens the passenger side door, He looks into Dean's eyes over the roof of the car, "You've been in there forever."

Dean smirks and holds up two IDs. then opens the back seat door and helps Alex in. "You can't rush perfection. Ok so we gotta drop off Alex while we go investigate." Alex nods still sour about being left behind all the time.

Sam grabs one of the ideas and scoffs in surprise, "Homeland Security? That's pretty illegal, even for us."

Dean just shrugs with a satisfied smile, "Yeah, well, it's something new. You know? People haven't seen it a thousand times."

They settle into the car, Alex leans in between the front seats.

"All right, so, what do we got?"

Sam answers her first, "Well, there's definitely EVP on the cockpit voice recorder, Listen."

He replays the tape, which has been edited to pull out a scratchy voice from the background. "No survivors!"

Alex looks at the recorder confused, that didn't seem right, it didn't match up with the crash report...

"No survivors"? What's that supposed to mean? There were seven survivors."

She sees Sam's shoulders lift in a small shrug, "Beats me."

Dean speaks from her left. "So, what are you thinking? A haunted flight?"

Alex speaks up, "It's possible that EVP after all"

Sam sighs, this hunt was confusing, "There's a long history of spirits and death omens on planes and ships, like phantom travelers."

Dean hums, "Mm-hmm."

"Or remember flight 401?"

Alex nods, "I remember that one, The one that crashed, the airline salvaged some of its parts, put it in other planes, then the spirit of the pilot and copilot haunted those flights."

"Maybe we got a similar deal."

Dean nods and starts the car pulling out of the parking lot, "All right, so, survivors, which one do you want to talk to first?"

Sam goes through the list they were given, shuffling through each paper.

"Third on the list: Max Jaffey."

Alex leans forward and grabs the page he was looking at, "Why him?"

"Well, for one, he's from around here. And two, if anyone saw anything weird, he did."

Dean nods in understanding, "Ok Lets get Alex to a motel and go question this guy."

Alex settles in for another few hours by herself as she waits on her brothers. Between the time they arrived and now the cramp between her shoulders had grown worse, she was beginning to get used to it and it would fade in and out every now and then, but She was tired and sore and just wanted her dad so he could explain himself...it's been weeks at this point looking and finding nothing, she wishes she could bury the pain but it won't go away.

Curling up into the sheets of the bed, She closes her eyes and for once, wishes for the black void and those shining blue eyes…

Dream

When she becomes aware of her body next, the familiar feeling of her dream void greets her. Instead of the usual discomfort and crushing feeling, her body sags with relief the tension ebbing from her muscles as solid ground seems to form underneath her. She stays seated in the spot enjoying the relief from her shoulder cramps and body aches, However the stain in her heart hurts just as strongly as it had before.

Flopping down onto her back she lays still enjoying the silence of the empty chasm around her, every breath fills her lungs with freezing air, refreshing her mind and lulling her into a deceptive calm. She almost misses the flutter followed by an almost silent thump.

Her whips around, eyes searching the dark for the source, All she can make out is those intense glacial eyes. The two of them watch each other in silence, Crisp blue meeting sharp Diamond. The being from her dreams comes closer and with a moment of hesitation settles down next to her, she lifts her body from the floor back into a sitting position.

The two of them sit there for a moment before she decides to break the silence.. "Uhm H-hello.."

Surprise briefly spawns in those intense eyes before a gruff voice obvious in its misuse responds, its melodic and almost angelic in its beauty, "Interesting…"

Alex blushes under his scrutiny, She feels as if she should introduce herself, he had helped her the first few times this had happened, "My name's Alex...uhm what's yours..?"

A surprised flash crosses his glowing eyes, followed by an extended silence, "You may call me L…"

His eyes had increased with intensity, 'it wouldn't do for this girl to know my name...whether she's real or just a mirage of this place it would not do for her to react to it' Alex squints a bit hoping to see more of him, all she can make out in the darkness is the blurry outline of short shaggy hair and what seems to be a blurry mass surrounding him. Throughout this exchange Alex had been completely unaware of the pain in her chest numbing a bit at his presence.

"I know this is a dream, but I feel like I need to say sorry for burdening you before, to be honest I actually hoped I'd end up here again...," she blushes and mumbles the last bit, "your very calming and I hoped for company."

His response takes a moment, "you needed Company...Why?"

He's surprised by the dark angered and pained look that covers her face, it's not directed at him but at whatever she is thinking about he doesn't expect a response from her since it obviously a touchy subject but is surprised when she begins to speak, it seemed she was surprised with the fact she was telling him as well.

"My father...i..im not even sure if im even comfortable calling him that anymore...he just up and disappeared and now i'm stuck in this wild goose chase trying to find him for answers.. I don't even know who or what I am anymore! Im angry all the time, im surviving things that should have killed me, and i can't even get in touch with the one man who could probably tell me what's wrong with me, only to find out that he doesn't even acknowledge my existence to others… but instead envelopes my older brother, who left and treated us like freaks, with praise about how proud he is of him. My dad always said I was a precious little girl but then he goes around and just...i don't know."

The shrouded man sits there in silence listening to her word vomit as she vents her frustration and pain, a brief feeling of understanding flows through him at her predicament… a father who's not around and treats you like a favorite but in the end that means nothing.. Oh he understands more than anyone. He was going to respond to her when he noticed her begin to fade..

"Looks like I'm waking up, I'm sorry again L, it was nice finally speaking to you!"

Dream end

Alex wakes up alone, in the cheap motel bed, the pain in her heart dulled. She felt refreshed and calmed after her dream. It's definitely not normal, the dreams she was having, and she should probably tell her brothers...but for once she wanted to be selfish and keep it to herself. They were terrifying at first and they still a bit are with how strange they are and the blue eyed man in the shroud, but she was curious and she always had issues with falling for her curiosity. "L, huh, even if you are a dream I hope to speak with you again.." She sits contemplating her dream for a moment before the door opens with her brothers walking in decked out in cheap black suits.

"Pfft, you guys look ridiculous."

"Oh shut up short stack, move your ass we gotta take what we found back to Jerry to get it looked at.."

She hops up from the bed and heads out to the car while her brothers get back into their normal clothes.

$%#$

Jerry looks at the yellow powder they found through a microscope; what the microscope sees is replicated on a screen, allowing everyone to get a good look at it. "Huh. This stuff is covered in sulfur."

Sam's hand rubs his face as a scoff makes it past his lips, "You're sure?"

"Take a look for yourself."

Banging sounds from outside the office. Followed by a man's loud cursing, Alex has to hold in her giggles ~You effin' piece of crap…! Echos outside the office door.

"If you fellows will excuse me, I have an idiot to fire."

As Jerry leaves, Dean goes over and looks into the microscope. "Hmm. You know, there's not too many things that leave behind a sulfuric residue."

"Demonic possession?"

Dean nods looking up and taking a glance at his little sister, "It would explain how a mortal man would have the strength to open up an emergency hatch. What about you short cake, you gettin anyone of your weird hoodoo shit."

Alex sighs exasperated with her brother bit responds earnestly anyway she's in to good a mood after her dream to be upset, "No I Haven't, i didn't go with you guys to the plane so it could be that I have to be close to Demony stuff and not what it leaves behind.."

Sam and Dean take in what she said and nod things to consider at a later date, and get back to sulfur, "If the guy was possessed, it's possible."

"This goes way beyond floating over a bed or barfing pea soup. I mean it's one thing to possess a person, but to use them to take down an entire airplane?"

A shake of the head from Sam followed by a question is all the get from him, "Either of you ever heard of something like this before?"

Dean shakes his head while Alex mulls over everything she read at one point or another at Bobbys, "Never, there's books on possession and what it entails but I've never read about them actively taking down planes or anything else.."

DEan looks at her like she's grown a second head, "where have you read books on Demonic possession?"

She gives her brother a mere look and he feels stupid, all three of them end up speaking at the same time, "Bobbys."

Leaving the warehouse again that day they head back to the motel to do some digging on the passengers and Demon research They need to find a lead or possible trail and pattern to follow. Any reason for the demon to be doing what is. Though it is a demon so that's going to be difficult.

All three of them are in full research mode, with images and articles taped to the walls and strewn across the beds, and Sam is looking at something on the computer. Dean is reading something on one bed while Alex is sitting on the other with their dad's journal in her lap, flipping through pages trying to find anything she could.

"I can't find anything concrete in dad's journal so far, ill keep looking though.."

Sam nods and pulls away from his laptop, "I just don't understand, So, every religion in every world culture has the concept of demons and demonic possession, right? I mean Christian, Native American, Hindu, you name it."

Dean drops whatevers she's reading, "Yeah, but none of them describe anything like this."

Alex shakes her head, "Well that's not entirely true, Demons are chaotic beings in general, their very presence can cause chaos via electrical storms or power outages."

Sam nods in agreement and continues for her, "You see according to Japanese beliefs, certain demons are behind certain disasters, both natural and man-made. One causes earthquakes, another causes disease."

"And this one causes plane crashes?"

Dean rises from his seated position on the bed and makes his way behind Sam, ruffling Alex's hair as he passes. "All right, so, what? We have a demon that's evolved with the times and found a way to ratchet up the body count?"

"Yeah. You know, who knows how many planes it's brought down before this one?"

Dean snorts, turning away from both of them, Sam sits up in his seat while Alex continues to dig in the journal, 'this thing has so much knowledge in it..'

"What?"

A heavy worn down sigh leaves Dean as he turns to face them again, "I don't know, guys. This isn't our normal gig. I mean, demons, they don't want anything, just death and destruction for its own sake. This is big. And I wish Dad was here."

ALex scoffs, "Don't we all…"

Dean's phone rings and he answers it. "Hello?"

"Dean, it's Jerry."

"Oh, hey, Jerry."

"My pilot friend...Chuck Lambert is dead."

Alex sits up in the bed setting the journal aside when she sees Dean's face take a serious note.

"Wha—Jerry, I'm sorry. What happened?"

She tosses a pencil at his side, "What's going on?"

Dean holds up a hand and continues listening to Jerry as he starts swatting away he attempts at poking him, Jerry continues "He and his buddy went up in a small twin about an hour ago. The plane went down."

"Where'd this happen?"

"About sixty miles west of here, near Nazareth."

Dean sighs "I'll try to ignore the irony in that…..Nothing. Jerry, hang in there, all right? We'll catch up with you soon."

DEAN hangs up The phone, grabbing his jacket and keys he heads for the door.

Sam and Alex are up within the second following him out the door, "Another crash?"

"Yeah. Let's go."

Sam slides into the passenger seat and Alex the back as Dean puts the car in gear, "Where?"

"Nazareth."

The Impala drives past a road sign reading NAZARETH 3. Alex is looking out the back window and can see that Black smoke is visible in the near distance. Hopefully they'd get a bit more answers with this crash site.

!#! %#$

Jerry is again looking through a microscope, Alex is perched on a cabinet next to the door picking at her nails. They were caked in dirt and powdered sulfur, she had to sneak onto the site while her brothers distracted workers and others so she could look around. She found more yellow powder which Jerry is currently looking at.

Dean was the first to ask even though they already knew, "Sulfur?"

Jerry nods.

The back of the dean's head meets the wall, "Well, that's great. All right, that's two plane crashes involving Chuck Lambert. This demon sounds like it was after him."

"Your sarcasm is truly appreciated, Deanie poo." Dean sticks his tongue at her while Sam elaborates to Jerry.

"With all due respect to Chuck, if that's the case, that would be the good news."

"What's the bad news?"

"Chuck's plane went down exactly forty minutes into flight. And get this, so did flight 2485."

"Forty minutes? What does that mean?"

Dean was the one to answer the question pushing Sam out of the way, "It's biblical numerology. You know Noah's ark, it rained for forty days. The number means death."

Sam shoves Dean back and pulls out a ripped piece of paper, a list, "I went back, and there have been six plane crashes over the last decade that all went down exactly forty minutes in."

"Any survivors?"

Sam sighs, "No. Or not until now, at least, not until flight 2485, for some reason. On the cockpit voice recorder, remember what the EVP Said?"

"No survivors," Dean Goes quiet for a moment lost in his thoughts before he seems to have an epiphany, "It's going after all the survivors. It's trying to finish the job."

She hums in thought mentally cataloguing all their evidence towards the demon, "It would explain a lot about its patterns and why it's caused a second crash so soon."

With all three in agreement they say goodbye to Jerry and head for the car, "We need to keep any of these guys from flying until we can hunt this thing down, Psychiatric guy isn't going anywhere but what about the others, Did you two talk to anyone else beside the passenger and the possessed guys wife?"

"No we didn't, they weren't required and were too far away for contact."

Night fell as Dean sped the impala down the highway, Sam is on the phone talking to one of the survivors, he'd already called one before and was able to confirm they weren't going anywhere. Alex sat in the back seat, flipping through more of their dad's notebook, before suddenly stopping on a page. It was in latin, She squinted her eyes in the dark backseat of the car slowly translating the page, 'lets see his notes are in latin too, ah thats the word for expel and oh holy shizz nuts...dads writing is absolutely awful...I'll need sam to help me with this once we stop..'

Said brother's voice floats through the car and into the backseat, "Really? Well, thank you for taking our survey, And if you do plan to fly, please don't forget your friends at United Britannia Airlines. Thanks." He hangs up and picks up the list of written survivors on his lap and crosses another name out, "All right. That takes care of Blaine Sanderson and Dennis Holloway. They're not flying anytime soon."

Dean glances into the backseat eyeing Alex as she glares down at a page in the journal seemingly willing it to combust or evaporate into nothing, by the almost constipated look of pain on her face. He holds back his chuckles at her plight and speaks over his music, "So our only wildcard is the flight attendant Amanda Walker."

"Right. Her sister Karen said her flight leaves Indianapolis at eight pm. It's her first night back on the job."

"That sounds like just our luck."

"Dean, this is a five-hour drive, man, even with you behind the wheel."

"NOOO!" is yelled from the backseat, "Don't let him speed, we'll never make it in one piece!"

Dean's lips part in a mischievous smile, as he looks at sam, "Call Amanda's cellphone again, see if we can't head her off at the pass."

"I already left her three voice messages. She must have turned her cellphone off, God, we're never gonna make it."

Dean just changes shifts and flores the accelerator, "We'll make it."

Alex clutches the journal to her chest, "OH GOD im gonna die!DEAN I will haunt your ass for eternity if you crash!"

$%^&$

Alex brothers rush into the airport and check the Departure board, as she staggers in behind them, she's a daredevil at heart loving rollercoasters and the adrenaline, the one time Dean was able to take her after Sam left, but holy shit nothing terrified her more then When dean drives on a time limit.

Sam finds Amanda's flight and points out the boarding time, "Right there. They're boarding in thirty minutes."

"Okay. We still have some cards to play. We need to find a phone."

Dean quickly glances around and finds one of the courtesy phones that are hooked up in order to find and contact people working on certain flights.

A woman's voice comes through the phone, "Airport Services."

"Hi. Gate thirteen.

"Who are you calling, sir?"

"I'm trying to contact Amanda Walker. She's a flight attendant on flight, um...flight 4-2-4."

Alex slides in next to her brother, keeping her ear close so she can hear the entire conversation, it's a few seconds of Dean being on hold before a curious Feminine voice comes through the line.

"This is Amanda Walker."

Dean takes on a somber and hurried tone as tries to convince her to leave the flight. "Miss Walker. Hi, this is Dr. James Hetfield from St. Francis Memorial Hospital. We have a Karen Walker here."

"Karen?"

"Nothing serious, just a minor car accident, but she was injured, so—" He is interrupted before he can even finish his bullshit lie.

"Wa—wait, that's impossible. I just got off the phone with her."

Alex can see the panic grow in her brother's eyes, and she knows the real reason for it, she has to keep a straight face as she watches her brother become more and more pale as reality begins to sink in. "You what?"

"Five minutes ago. She's at her house, cramming for a final. Who is this?"

"Uh, well...there must be some mistake." Even more panic as he realises he might have to get on a plane.

"And how would you even know I was here?"

Sam joins the 2 of them around the phone so he could hear what was going on and why Dean seemed to be panicking.

Amanda is silent on the other side of the phone for a moment before she speaks again.

"Is this one of Vince's friends?"

Dean latches onto that final life line like a cat on catnip. "Guilty as charged."

"Wow. This is unbelievable."

Dean seems frustrated and doesn't know what to say, Alex whispers into his ear, "Tell her he's sorry, girls love that shit…"

"He's really sorry."

"Well, you tell him to mind his own business and stay out of my life, okay?"

Dean begins to slightly panic again, "Yes, but...he really needs to see you tonight, so—"

"No, I'm sorry. It's too late."

Dean looks to Alex again for help, "Say how much the guys beat up over it, really amp it up, make it seem like he's been pathetic since their break up.." Dean nods and tries to take on a convincing tone.

"Don't be like that. Come on. The guy's been a real mess, Its pathetic really how much hes beating himself up over this.."

Alex rolls her eyes, "That's how you amp shit up?"

Amanda's voice cuts through again, "Really?"

Dean sticks his tongue out at his sister, "Oh, yeah."

"Look, I've got to go. Um...tell him to call me when I land."

The phone hangs up and Alex gives him the look of i told you so.

"No, no. Wait, Amanda. Amanda!"

The three of them hang around the phone trying to think of what to do next when, Alex gets a cold shiver down her spine followed by a nauseating chill. Several feet away a black cloud comes out of a vent, then goes back in. Alex whips around staring at the vent her breathes accelerating as her chest constricts, "Dean.." She only had to say his name before her brother had her head pulled into his chest with Sam crowding in to hide her more.

"Alex..What is it...your eyes are glowing purple again...was it the demon..?"

Her voice is muffled by his shirt as she breathes in his comforting scent of sandalwood and gunpowder.

"I don't know...it was the same feeling I got when i panicked in your car.."

"Damn it! That means that thing could have been So close."

Sam rubs her back and whispers to the both of them, "All right, it's time for plan B. We're getting on that plane."

"Whoa, whoa, now just hold on a second….Alex needs a second..right Alex?"

Dean is wide-eyed and refusing to look either of them in the face.

"Dean, that plane is leaving with over a hundred passengers on board, and if we're right, that plane is gonna crash."

Dean nods going pale again, "I know."

"Okay. So we're getting on the plane, we need to find that demon and exorcise it. I'll get the tickets. You get whatever you can out of the trunk. Whatever that will make it through the security. Meet me back here in five minutes."

Dean just looks at him anxiously and stays rooted to the spot. Alex had begun giggling into Dean's chest no longer being able to hold it in.

"Are you okay?"

"No, not really."

Sam just continued to look confused, Dean was freaking out and Alex was laughing..did his siblings hit their heads? "What? What's wrong?"

"Well, I kind of have this problem with, uh…"

"Flying?"

"It's never really been an issue until now."

"You're joking, right?"

"Do I look like I'm joking? Why do you think I drive everywhere, Sam?"

Alex pulls back face full of mirth, the violet glow of her eyes having dimmed to a mere shimmer, "Dad tried to fly for a hunt a few months before we got you and Dean nearly pissed himself at the thought so we had to drive instead.

"All right. Uh, I'll go."

"What?"

Alex and I will do this one on our own."

Alex pipes up, "Cool!"

"What are you, nuts? You said it yourself, the plane's gonna crash. You cant take our sister on that death trap."

"Dean, we can all do it together, or the 2 of us can do this one by ourselves. I'm not seeing a third option here. Plus she needs to start getting used to stuff this big if we are gonna hunt for dad and the thing that killed jess."

"Come on! Really? Man…"

Alex is sitting in between Dean and Sam in the left aisle seats of the plane, her head is whipping around taking in all the people, workers, and buttons. She finds herself eagerly looking out the side window hoping to see the ground from up in the air.

Dean, is in the outer aisle seat, and is anxiously reading the safety card. Alex wraps one of her hands around his and snuggles into his shoulder nuzzling his arm for comfort.

Sam leans over her back and whispers into their ears, "Just try to relax."

Dean glares and buries his face into his sister's soft white hair, "Just try to shut up."

The plane begins to take off, with Dean jumping at every rumble and sound. Sam shares a smik with Alex, Dean wraps an arm around Alex's shoulder and leans more into her trying to ground himself. Theyre a few minutes into the flight when Alex can start to hear Dean humming to himself. Sam looks over.

"You're humming Metallica?"

Dean nods and with a strained voice, "Calms me down."

"Look, man, I get you're nervous, all right? But you got to stay focused."

Dean nods and Alex can feel a tremor wrack is shoulders, it was a bit funny at first but now shes beginning to worry for her brother, Demons are drawn to vulnerable vessels, he will be at risk if he cant calm down soon.

"I mean, we got thirty-two minutes and counting to track this thing down, or whoever it's possessing, anyway, and perform a full-on exorcism."

Dean finally looks up, "Yeah, on a crowded plane. That's gonna be easy."

"Just take it one step at a time, all right? Now, who is it possessing?"

Alex answers this time, having more knowledge from her tome studies with bobby, "It's usually gonna be somebody with some sort of weakness, you know, a chink in the armor that the demon can worm through. Somebody with an addiction or some sort of emotional distress."

"Well, this is Amanda's first flight after the crash. If I were her, I'd be pretty messed up."

Dean hums and catches the attention of a nearby Flight attendant, "Excuse me. Are you Amanda?"

The woman shakes her head with an apologetic smile, "No, I'm not."

Dean just nods and lets her continue on her way, "Oh, my mistake.".

Dean looks around then to the back of the plane and sees a petite blonde woman in a attendants uniform stocking a cart.

"All right, well, that's got to be Amanda back there, so I'll go talk to her, and, uh, I'll get a read on her mental state."

Alex looks up at him skeptically, "Are you sure, iCould walk back there and see if she gives me any 'hoodoo' vibes as you call it.."

"What if she's already possessed?"

Dean pulls out a plastic Virgin Mary shaped bottle out of his coat, "Or can do it the old fashion way and-" Sam snatches the bottle and tucks it inside his hoodie. While Alex smacks his head.

"I think we can go more subtle. If she's possessed, she'll flinch at the name of God."

"Oh. Nice."

Dean shakily rises from his seat and turns to walk down the aisle before Alex calls out to him, "Hey."

"What?"

"Say it in Latin."

Dean gives her an affronted look, upset she thinks he didn't know that, "I know."

Dean turns to leave again. Sam calls out to him this time as Alex looks at him over the back of the seat giggling, "Okay. Hey!"

"What?!"

"Uh, in Latin, it's "Christo"."

"Dude, I know! I'm not an idiot! Assholes.." Behind the seat Sam and Alex high five and share a smile of victory.

Alex silently watches her brother approach the flight attendant, she watches as they had a conversation, Dean becoming more uncomfortable and embarrassed the longer he was back there. She had already pegged the lady, Amanda, as not being possessed because who would honestly go back to work on a plane if they were still messed up. Even the chuck guy was taking it incredibly slow, from what they were able to find out from Jerry. It didnt hurt to be sure though, plus she gets to watch her brother embarrass himself in front of a girl so its a win win in her book. 'Speaking of book'

"Sammy, i found a page in dads journal, its in latin, lemmer show you, his writing is absolutely god awful so i could barely translate it, it mentions something about 'to expel' and its in latin so i figured it might be what we need." Sam scoots in close to lean over her shoulder as she flips the journal to the page. The two of them silently discuss and translate the page, as they wait on Dean to finish testing the girl. It isnt longer before hes heavily dropping back into his seat next to her.

"All right, well, she's got to be the most well-adjusted person on the planet."

Alex doesn't even glance up from the page, "You said 'Christo'?"

"Yeah."

"And?"

"There's no demon in her. There's no demon getting in her."

Sam speaks up this time, fully taking the journal from Alex as he seemed to have found something useful. "So, if it's on the plane, it can be anyone. Anywhere." The plane shakes.

And Dean looks like he's about to piss himself, "Come on! That can't be normal!"

Alex rubs his shoulder, "Hey, hey, it's just a little turbulence."

"ALex, this plane is going to crash, okay? So quit treating me like I'm friggin' four. Your the youngest here."

"You need to calm down."

Dean once again buries his face into her hair wrapping his arms around her. "Well, I'm sorry I can't."

"Yes, you can."

He whispers this time so Sam cant hear, "Alex i Can't, this shits fucking me up, I'm sorry."

"Listen, you're my big brother and if you're panicked, you're wide open to demonic possession, so you need to calm yourself down. Please, I know you can do it." She tightens her hold on him as he takes a long, slow breath.

"Good. Now, I think I found an exorcism here that I think is gonna work. Sam said it's called The Rituale Romanum."

Dean taps Sam shoulder, "What do we have to do?

Sam looks DEan over, making sure hes calmed himself down before explaining the exorcism, "It's two parts. The first part expels the demon from the victim's body. It makes it manifest, which actually makes it more powerful."

"More powerful?"

"Yeah."

"How?"

"Well, it doesn't need to possess someone anymore. It can just wreak havoc on its own."

Alex looked down at the journal in concern, "That really doesn't seem like a good thing.." DEan nods needing more explanation.

"Well, because the second part sends the bastard back to hell once and for all."

Dean finally sighs and decides to get to business, "First things first, we got to find it. Alex, go to the bathroom and see if anyone gives you that weird feeling from earlier, keep your eyes covered, i'm gonna go up the aisle towards the front with my EMF meter."

Dean rises from his seat followed by Alex, She walks to the front of the plane towards the bathroom, Dean follows Slowly behind, people giving him weird or disgusted looks as they watch him walk behind his sister, Alex is close to the bathroom when Sam grabs Dean's shoulder from behind. "Ah! Don't do that."

"Anything?"

"No, nothing. Alex, what about you? How much time we got?"

"Fifteen minutes. Maybe we missed somebody."

Alex whispers towards them, "Nobody giving me any demony vibes...maybe my reaction was fluke?"

Dean shrugs and with a hopeful look to Sam says, "Maybe the thing's just not on the plane."

"You believe that?"

"Well, I will if you will." ALex scoffs and takes a step closer to the bathroom, She has no warning before that feeling floods her body again and she is quickly turning to face Dean barring her newly glowing eyes to her brothers, just as the lights on the EMF Light up.

Dean looks down from his sister as the EMF meter spikes. A man, The copilot, exits the bathroom and heads towards the cockpit.

"Alex, Your eyes..are you feeling something?"

Dean stares straight at the copilot as he whispers, "Christo."

The copilot turns slowly to face them. His eyes are black.

The copilot goes into the cockpit. The three of them look at each other as the shimmer dies from Alex's eyes. Sam and Dean are quick to head to the back of the plane towards Amanda. While Alex slides back into her seat willing her body to calm down, she feels as if she is about to hurl. She had seen it. That things face...behind the human vessel. It Was disgusting, it looked like a coiling conglomerate mass of rotting flesh. Another thing to keep from her brothers...she can't handle herself, she doesn't need to worry them anymore than they already are over this hunt. She doesn't want them to sideline again.

As she gets her body and breathing under control she makes her way to the back of the plane with her brothers, she enters the little nook just as Amanda leaves and goes to the cockpit. She sees Amanda knock on the door and say something inaudible to the copilot, who follows her back. Sam pulls out the holy water. He hands their dad's journal to Alex who flips to the right page and begins doing her best to memorise the latin exorcism.

The copilot has barely entered the room pulling the curtain aside before dean has jumped him and punched him in the face, knocking him down. He pins him down and puts duct tape over his mouth. Alex Feels her body already begin to react to it presence but she does her best to ignore it.

Amanda stands at the curtain horrified, her eyes briefly glance over Alex's Glowing eyes with shocked curiosity, "Wait. What are you doing? You said you were just gonna talk to him."

Dean is struggling to hold the man down while Sam uncaps the holy water, Alex gently grabs the woman's arm to get her attention, "We are gonna talk to him."

Sam splashes holy water on the demon's chest causing it to sizzle and burn, Alex can see the demon beneath the skin writhe in agony.

"Oh, my god. What's wrong with him?"

Alex looks Amanda in the eyes and very calmly speaks to her trying to get the point across, "Look. We need you to be calm. We need you outside the curtain."

"Well, I don't underst—I don't know—"

"Don't let anybody in, okay? Can you do that? Can you do that? Amanda?"

"Okay. Okay."

Amanda leaves, shutting the curtain behind her, allowing Alex to get back to going over the exorcism.

Dean grunts as he loses his hold for a moment, forcing Sam to help hold the beast down. "Anytime now Alex. I don't know how much longer we can hold him."

Alex nods and with determination begins reading the Latin verse, "Regna terrae, cantate Deo, psallite Domino—"

The Demon breaks free briefly and hits both of her brothers until Dean manages to subdue him again. Alex picks up where she left off. The Demon knocks Sam off this time and uses the chance to pull the tape off his mouth. He grabs Sam by the collar, and with a sick smile stares him in the eyes, "I know what happened to your girlfriend! She must have died screaming! Even now, she's burning," his empty eyes focus on Alex, black meeting glowing violet, who hasn't stopped chanting, "and you… what a pretty little vulnerable and rare thing you are, where did these winchesters dig you up from..?" The three siblings feel confusion as what the demon said settles in their heads, Alex stops chanting, trying to figure out what he meant. Dean is the first to recover. SLamming the demon back onto the floor followed by Sam.

"Alex!"

She recovers and begins reading again. She's just finished the first step of the exorcism when the demon kicks out at her, sending the journal sliding out of the room and her body slamming into the wall. The Demon is expelled from the pilot's body, Alex watches as its now smokey mass enters the vents.

Sam is huffy wildly looking around, "Where'd it go?"

Alex groans and pushes herself up, "It's in the plane. The journal fell out into the aisle. I can't go out with my eyes like this...Sam you need to find it"The plane suddenly dips and heaves violently. Sam struggles to his feet only to fall to his stomach in the aisle he begins his search for the journal as Dean grabs Alex and buries his face into her shoulder and splays them against the exit door, screaming into her skin.

Alex can see through the curtain as Sam manages to grab the book and reads the rest of the exorcism. A bright electrical charge runs through the entire plane, which then levels out. The gross overbearing feeling of the demon's presence drains from Alex's body as the lights return to normal. Various people ask if everyone's okay. And she can see Amanda sigh in relief. Dean and Alex exit the curtain as Sam stands from the floor. The three of them settle back into their seats, exhausted emotionally and physically...especially Alex who couldn't help but keep thinking about what the demon had said… 'It didn't know I was a winchester...what's happening..'

The passengers from the flight are disembarking from the plane into the airport, As many agents go around questioning different passengers, Alex can see one finish talking to Amanda just as she spots them. And mouths a 'thank you' to them. Dean nods and turns to his younger siblings.

"Let's get out of here."

The three of them head for the exit and on their way out, he looks them over, "You two okay?"

Sam stops and turns to them, "Dean, it knew about Jessica. It knew who we were...mostly"

"Sam, these things, they, they read minds. They lie. All right? That's all it was. Plus it didn't even know Alex was our sister…" Alex glances away..

"It called me rare and vulnerable, what the hell does that even mean.."

"Yeah, Come on."

$%&^

The three of them are leant against the trunk of the impala, speaking to Jerry, all of their things from the motel packed and stored away in the impala.

"Nobody knows what you guys did, but I do. A lot of people could have been killed."

Jerry shakes all their hands.

"Your dad's gonna be real proud."

Alex gives him a strained smile at that, "We'll see you around, Jerry."

Dean begins to enter the driver's seat of the car when he stops and looks at Jerry, "You know, Jerry."

"Yeah."

"I meant to ask you, how did you get my cellphone number, anyway? I've only had it for like six months." Alex nods looking at the man in confusion somehow knowing she won't like the answer.

"Your dad gave it to me."

That causes all of them to straighten up in surprise and for Alex, anger.

"What?" Her voice is strained.

Dean gulps, anger beginning to claw in him as well, "When did you talk to him?"

Jerry shakes his head, "I mean, I didn't exactly talk to him, but I called his number. His voice message said to give you a call. Thanks again, guys."

Jerry waves them off and enters back into his warehouse.

Moments later

The three of them are crowded around Dean's phone as he types in their dad's number.

Sam breaks the tense silence, "This doesn't make any sense, man. I've called Dad's number like fifty times. It's out of service."

The phone dials as it calls the number. It clicks and a voice message begins to play of their Dad's voice, Dean holds the phone close to their ears so they can all hear.

"This is John Winchester. I can't be reached. If this is an emergency, call my son, Dean. 785-555-0179. He can help."

Sam and Alex silently fume, Alex is the first in the car being careful not to slam the door, she buries her face in one of her travel blankets and rips John's jacket from her body and throws it on the floor curling into the backseat facing away from her brothers. She has to fight tears as she's once again dragged down into sleep.
