Countdown to the Cell Games
I don't own Digimon or Dragonball Z
"The battle is over." Daisuke said from her spot upon the lookout, as she sensed Trunks' power level return to what it was before his battle with Cell. "I'm going to check on Trunks; if Goku and Gohan come out before I'm back, tell them where I went." Piccolo nodded, and Daisuke vanished via Instant Transmission. She appeared in front of Trunks as he fell to his knees.
"I failed," the boy from the future said. Daisuke walked over to the boy and knelt in front of him.
"Tell me what happened," she instructed, and Trunks nodded and began his tale.
Meanwhile, in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, the temperature inside was sitting at both ends of extreme; half was on fire, the other was a frozen wasteland, and Goku and Gohan both as Super Saiyans were in the midst of an intense fight.
"Come on, Dad, keep up!" Gohan shouted as he flew off with Goku, chasing him through the fiery half of the time chamber. The two collided with punches and kicks before Goku fired three energy blasts at his son, who dodged the first two before firing his own blast to counter the third, creating a giant explosion. Gohan then shot through the flames and continued the fight with his father.
Soon Goku walked back into the bedroom area of the chamber with an exhausted Gohan on his back. "I'm sorry, Dad…I'll do better next time I promise…" he said, causing his father to smile softly.
"Don't beat yourself up, Gohan, we're just taking a break. You've grown a lot stronger in here, once we're finished I can tell you're gonna be incredibly powerful," Goku reassured him, and he smiled. "But for now, let's get something to eat." Gohan smiled and nodded, and the two began wolfing down more food again.
"And that's everything," Trunks told Daisuke back on Earth, and Daisuke nodded before she punched Trunks, knocking him off his feet, and he held his jaw in stunned silence.
"That's for being reckless. You should have never used a transformation that you didn't know everything about. You're lucky that Cell spared you this time, if you had died then think of what that would have done to your mother; both versions of her," she scolded him with a frown. Trunks sighed and nodded, before taking Daisuke's hand as she helped him up. "So Cell is planning a Martial Arts Tournament to decide the fate of the world. Well I did win two tournaments the last time I was involved, though I have a feeling this will be a lot tougher than those were."
"Yeah. And I think he's going to announce his tournament to the world soon. Typical Android, he doesn't want to rule the world, he just wants to destroy it and relishes in causing fear and panic," Trunks growled, clenching his fist. "I have to go back into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and continue my training."
"Yes, you will, but Azumi and I will be going in once Goku and Gohan have finished," Daisuke reminded him. Both then turned around and saw Android 16 approaching them.
"I will fight alongside you…but first…I need repair…" he said, holding his left arm. Trunks was about to refuse before Daisuke held her hand up to stop him.
"How can we trust you? You attacked my husband when you were awoken," she reminded him, while also remembering that 16 didn't know Goku was still alive.
"Yes, that is true. For that I apologise, but after seeing the beauty of this world I cannot let Cell destroy it. And if I am destroyed, at least my final moments will be protecting this planet." 16 told her and she looked into his eyes.
"Alright," she said after a short moment of silence. "Let's get you to Capsule Corp first. Bulma or her father can repair you." She slung the Android's arm over her shoulders, and motioned for Trunks walk over. "This will be the quickest way." She took Trunks' hand before putting her fingers to her forehead, and the trio vanished and reappeared in the garden of Capsule Corp.
"Oh Daisuke, long time no see," Bulma's father, Dr Brief, said with a smile before he took notice of the Android.
"Same to you, Doctor. Listen, can you patch up the big guy here?" she asked.
"Hm, let me see what I can do. Oh, and Bulma called; she said she'd be back any minute," he said as he and Android 16 walked off.
"That's good to know," Daisuke said. "We should let the others know about the tournament right away, so we've got time to prepare."
"He said the tournament would be in ten days," Trunks said, before both noticed a large aircraft land nearby and Roshi, Puar, Oolong, and Yamcha walked out.
"Looks like Bulma called everyone," Daisuke said before she sensed Krillin and Vegeta, and saw both land behind her and Trunks. "How are you Vegeta, is your pride still sore?" she asked, and the Saiyan grit his teeth and bit his tongue.
"A tournament? And he wants to challenge all of us?" Krillin asked a few minutes later after Trunks had told the others about Cell's plan.
"That's what he said, though I don't think all of us will be of much use," Trunks said.
"Yes. You'll all be crushed like bugs," Vegeta said with a small smirk.
"As we are now, yes, but we need to train harder then we have ever done so before. Only then can we hope to stand a chance," Daisuke said. "I know I have one more form I can reach; once I do I'll have to be strong enough to help defeat Cell," she finished mentally.
"There is going to be rules, right?" Oolong asked nervously.
"There might be, but we don't know what the rules will be other then it'll only be one on one. Knowing Cell he could have no rules at all," Trunks answered.
Speaking of the Bio-Android, Cell landed on a small hill overlooking a large flat area of land with a small farm being the only sign of life. "Perfect. This will make for a good arena, but first to clear out the current inhabitants." He fired a small blast of energy into the ground which, then erupted into multiple explosions, leaving the area barren. He then used his telekinesis powers he had acquired from Frieza to lift a large mountain out of the ground. His eyes then flashed red and he waved his hand, and the mountain was turned into a giant cube. "Perfect, this will make a strong floor," he said before waving his fingers around quickly and cutting the cube into identical stone slabs which he then set down on the ground before him, forming the floor of the arena. "Now to the let the entire world know."
Back at Capsule Corp everyone was keeping their eye on the TV, waiting for Cell to announce his tournament. "Ya know, maybe he's bluffing and won't broadcast his tournament on the news…" Oolong said optimistically.
"Don't be an idiot. If Cell said he'd tell the world, then he will," Daisuke told him, glaring at the pig. "It's not like you'd fight anyway."
"Let us know when he come on the TV, Yamcha and I are going to start training," Krillin told her, and she nodded before Vegeta spoke up.
"Have fun trying to get stronger, but leave Cell to me. I alone have the power to defeat him."
"Was this before or after you let him stroke your ego and allowed him to absorb Android 18 and become perfect?" Daisuke asked him.
"He tricked me, that's all. Cell cannot defeat me," Vegeta replied arrogantly, and Daisuke growled at him before the door to the room slid up and Bulma carrying baby Terra rushed in, followed by Pan and Azumi.
"Trunks, you're ok!" Pan and Azumi cried in relief as they tackled the older boy into a hug, and he looked at them both in shock.
"Uh…yeah…I'm fine," he said, and the girls smiled before both frowned.
"What were you thinking!?" Azumi shouted before she began scolding him, and the others all laughed except for Vegeta and Daisuke, who both turned to the television as the image began to crackle.
"Enough all of you!" Daisuke barked, and the room fell silent as Cell appeared on the screen.
"Greetings people of Earth. I am Cell, and I have a message for all of you. Now, pay attention to what I say," he began as people in the studio rushed around him while also cowering in fear. "Your boring lives are about to get a lot more interesting thanks to me. I have enjoyed terrorising Earth, but now I have something far more entertaining planned for this pathetic planet. For those of you who don't remember me, look closely at my face. I am the monster who is responsible for all those strange disappearances in Nicky Town," he said, changing his voice to that of his imperfect form briefly.
"I am the evolved form of that creature, and I owe it all to this pathetic planet for the bio-extract I needed. But the reason I am here is to announce my decision to hold a Martial Arts Tournament. I am calling this competition, the Cell Games. It shall begin nine days from today at Area S.5, twenty-eight miles north-east of Eastern City. There you will find an arena I have devised myself, I modelled it after the original one from the previous World Martial Arts Tournaments. It is the ideal location to crush my opponents. Bring me your best fighters and I shall face them one by one. The rules shall be the same as the tournaments before, if you give up or your body touches the outside of the arena, you lose. And you will have the advantage as I will not be allowed to rest between matches and the next opponent can jump into fight immediately."
"Curse him," Trunks growled in anger.
"I hope I've not scared you all into not competing. I shall be waiting at my arena; if you have the courage to show up, here is a taste of what you're up against." Cell fired an energy blast behind him, through the wall, and the mountain near the city he was in was hit and exploded. "Let the games begin." The broadcast ended with Cell laughing and flying out of the hole he had created.
"He really is gonna destroy the planet…" Yamcha whimpered in fear. Daisuke growled and got to her feet, and began walking to the door.
"Azumi, we're going to the lookout; we can't waste a second once Goku and Gohan are finished." Her daughter nodded and both left the room followed by Vegeta.
"Hey wait for me," Trunks said.
"Wait, why don't I cut your hair. It could get in the way." Bulma said with a small smile and he blushed.
"Oh…thank you."
Meanwhile, Daisuke and Azumi flew through the sky at full speed to get back to Kami's Lookout, and saw everyone in the city was trying to leave as fast as they could. "Wow, it seems everyone is trying to get somewhere safe before the Cell Games," Azumi said.
"Yes. But it won't do any good, Cell probably knows what's going on and he can destroy the planet with a single energy blast. There is no safe place to hide now," Daisuke replied grimly.
"Then I'll just have to train as hard as Gohan and Dad probably are in the time chamber," Azumi said, determined, and Daisuke nodded. Soon they returned to the lookout.
"Goku and Gohan are still inside," Piccolo informed them. "They still have three hours left according to Mr Popo."
"Good. Once they're done, Azumi and I will go inside, then I assume Vegeta and Trunks will go back in after us," Daisuke said, and sure enough Vegeta and Trunks arrived on the lookout a few seconds later, only now Trunks' hair had been cut to what it used to be when he first arrived from the future.
"Have your time in the chamber, the next seven days will be all mine," Vegeta said, and Piccolo and Daisuke smirked. "What're you both smirking at?"
"Didn't you know you could only spend a total of two years in the room?" Daisuke asked coyly, causing Vegeta's eyes to widen in shock before they narrowed in anger.
"You lie!" he snapped.
"It's true. I'm only able to spend one more year inside due to having used up the last year previous times," Daisuke replied. "Don't worry, you can still train," she told him before she and the others all tensed as they sensed two energy signatures.
"They're out of the chamber, but why come out early?" Azumi asked, confused. Daisuke didn't answer as she too was curious, and soon both laid eyes on their family.
"Whoa…" Daisuke whispered, shocked to see her son and husband both looking so calm while also being Super Saiyans.
"See, I told you I could sense your mother and sister, Gohan. And I can also still sense Cell, although he's a lot stronger now," Goku said as both walked over to the others.
"Goku, what the heck happened in there. How are you both Super Saiyans and yet you both look so…so…" Daisuke trailed off, trying to find the right word.
"Normal? Well I'd love to explain, but first I gotta get something to eat," Her husband said as his stomach roared in hunger, making Daisuke giggle slightly. Soon, Father and Son were scoffing down large quantities of food, much to the disgust of everyone but Vegeta, Daisuke, and Azumi.
"Alright so tell us why you came out three hours early?" Piccolo asked them, and Goku's answer was muffled by the large amount of noodles in his mouth.
"Swallow before speaking Goku," Daisuke scolded him, and he slurped down the noodles in one go and smiled.
"Disgusting." Piccolo growled out.
"You try living with them plus Azumi," Daisuke said with a large sweatdrop, making her family sheepishly scratch their heads in unison.
"I'm amazed you've kept your sanity," the Namekian muttered. Soon, Goku and Gohan were brought up to speed by Trunks and Daisuke.
"I see," Goku said as he put on his normal clothes he had left with Mr Popo before he went into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. "A tournament. It sounds interesting."
"Not the word I'd use to describe it." Daisuke said. "Do you think the training you did will help you defeat Cell?"
"Not sure. I haven't seen him after he absorbed 18. I'll have to check him out," Goku replied, placing his fingers to his forehead, and he located Cell's energy. He used Instant Transmission and appeared behind Cell who was standing in his new arena.
"Ah Goku," Cell said without turning around.
"That's right." Goku replied, looking around the arena. "So this is the place you're holding your tournament?"
"Indeed. The fate of the world will be decided here in nine short days," Cell answered turning around.
"You're not the first person who tried to destroy my world or conquer the universe. But you'll fall just like the rest of them," Goku told him as he and Cell glared. The sky darkened as energy began crackling between them as both tested the other's power with large arcs of electricity shooting around the arena and into the sky. "I've spent months training for the day where I'd face you, I've come along way, Cell."
"So have I," he replied, as bolts of lightning continued striking the arena and the area around it.
"I'll be your first opponent, so leave everyone out of this until we meet in the ring. And I promise that you will pay for your crimes," Goku promised before he used Instant Transmission to return to the lookout.
"So what do you think?" Trunks asked Goku once he appeared in front of the others.
"Honestly, if I fought him right now, he'd beat me into the ground," Goku answered, shocking everyone.
"Well, it's a good thing you can still enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber one more time. Azumi and Daisuke are going in next, then Trunks and I, and Vegeta is going in alone," Piccolo told Goku.
"Because I do not want anyone interfering with my training," the prince said.
"Thanks, but Gohan and I don't need another turn," Goku said shocking everyone. "There's only nine days left, so we'll just train outside until the tournament. Besides, I don't think it would do us any good. There's not much left for us to gain from torturing our bodies."
"Oh, I see how it is, little Kakarot is too weak to continue," Vegeta mocked.
"I wouldn't say that. I'm way above you," Goku replied, making the Saiyan grit his teeth in anger.
"Goku," Daisuke said, grabbing his shoulder. "I think you should allow Gohan to make his own choice. Once Azumi and I finish, both can go in together."
"Yeah. That sounds like a good idea; who knows, maybe since we're twins training together will make us even stronger," Azumi said with a smile, and Gohan nodded. Goku looked at them before looking at Daisuke, and they shared a look only the two of them could understand before finally Goku nodded.
"Ok. I guess it wouldn't hurt," he relented, making Daisuke smile.
"Good. Come on, Azumi, we need to have our year of training first," Daisuke said, and her daughter nodded as both soon entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
"I'm ready," Azumi told her mother, who smiled as she powered up to her Gaogamon form.
"Good, I won't hold back," she said, and both mother and daughter charged and began their training.
