Preparation for the Cell Games! A New Guardian Appears!
I don't own Digimon or Dragonball Z
"Hadoken!" Azumi shouted as she fired an orb of Ki at Daisuke, who deflected it with her hand before mother and daughter charged each other. They continued their sparring throughout the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
"She's getting better," Daisuke thought as she blocked her daughter's kicks before pushing the younger girl back with a palm thrust to the gut, sending her flipping through the air. Azumi held her gut in pain. "Are you ok?" she asked, flying over to check on her daughter.
"Yeah I'm fine," Azumi replied before groaning as she fell out of her transformed state, and Daisuke caught her gently.
"That's enough training for now," she said before carrying Azumi back to the room. A short while later, the two were sitting at the table eating before Azumi stopped and glanced at Daisuke.
"Mom, do you think I'll be able to unlock my next form by training with you?" she asked. "I have to have another form, right?" Daisuke finished her mouthful before she nodded.
"You should be able to reach your next transformation with this training, either while we're inside here or when you fight Cell, if it comes to that. Actually, if it goes like I think it will, you have the potential for two more transformations, but let's just worry about your next."
"If?" Azumi asked.
"Cell is incredibly strong, you heard your father. But we won't know until the Cell Games, and knowing Goku, he may let you and Gohan fight him on your own."
"But why would he do that?"
"He has faith in you both, you're stronger then we were at your ages," Daisuke answered with a proud smile. "Don't doubt yourself, no matter what happens I shall always do my best to protect you. It's my duty as mother, Goku will do the same. He'd die to protect you."
Azumi nodded in understanding and smiled. "Got it. I won't let you down, and when Gohan and I come back in here to train, we're going to work so hard to get stronger."
"That's my girl. Now let's finish eating and get some rest before we go back to training." The duo finished their food before heading to the bedroom for a quick rest.
Meanwhile, outside the Time Chamber, Goku and the others were still there waiting for the duo to emerge. "Does your wife honestly think that she or her daughter will be able to defeat Cell with training? Only I can defeat that conniving slug," Vegeta growled to Goku who glanced over at his fellow Saiyan with a knowing smirk.
"Well I don't know, Dai and Azumi are pretty strong already. Who knows what they'll do in a year."
"Like what you and Gohan did?" Piccolo asked him.
"That's right. We managed to master the Super Saiyan transformation so that we didn't need to use as much energy to maintain the form, leaving us with more power to use in battle," Goku answered.
"Hm, clever," Piccolo admitted.
Meanwhile, with Cell at his arena, the Bio-Android was waiting for the day of the tournament when he heard something approaching from behind, and he turned to see the entire Earth Military advancing towards him with fighter jets circling overhead.
"Hm, simple minded fools, their little toys won't hurt me," he thought as every soldier aimed their weapons at him while the tanks and aircraft also began locking on. He chuckled and jumped away from his arena onto a nearby hill.
"He's running!" one soldier foolishly shouted.
"Running? Oh no, I just don't want you pests damaging my ring," Cell said as the military opened fire, hitting him with everything they had; bombs, missiles, gunfire, and they didn't stop until their commander ordered them to cease fire.
"You like that!?" one soldier shouted as the hill Cell stood on was levelled, and he was clouded by smoke and fire. The soldiers watched with bated breath until the smoke was blown away by a burst of Ki, and they all stared at the unharmed Cell in shock.
"Judging by your silence I would guess it is my turn now," he said chuckling as the soldiers began fleeing in terror, some leaving their vehicles as Cell raised his hand which began glowing with energy. He swung his hand and a circle of energy moved out from around him, catching all the military in the blast, leaving nothing left of the soldiers and only shredded remains of the tanks and other vehicles.
"That was amusing," he said with a laugh before floating back down to his arena to wait.
Up on the lookout, Goku's expression turned to one of anger as he walked to the edge and looked down at the Earth below. "Cell… you monster. I told you to leave everyone else alone until we fought."
"So you felt it too?" Piccolo asked as he stood beside Goku. "Cell's power just flared for a brief moment."
"Yeah. And he used it to kill thousands of innocents." Goku answered. "We need the Dragonballs, can you split into two people again?"
"No. When two Namekians fuse together it's a permanent deal. That is why I hesitated to fuse with Kami when he suggested we do it."
"That's a bummer, I was really hoping it would work. Because without a set of Dragonballs we can't wish back all the people who have been killed by Cell, and I mean every single one. That way we can make amends for letting Cell come this far."
"You mean for Vegeta letting Cell to come this far," Piccolo grumbled glaring back at the Saiyan who glared back. "I'm sorry I can't help, Goku."
"It's fine. Maybe I can ask one of the Namekians to come and be the Earth's new Guardian, we all saw them go to a new planet Namek."
"But you don't have the time to search every planet for them," Piccolo reminded him.
"I won't need to, I'll use Instant Transmission to find an energy signature similar to yours," Goku said before placing his fingers to his forehead and he began to try and locate an energy signature.
"But you can't sense energy that far." Goku was silent until he lowered his hands and sheepishly chuckled.
"I guess you're right…I can't." Piccolo groaned and facepalmed, muttering something about stupid blonde Saiyans. "Hm, do you think King Kai would know?"
"Possibly, but how can you reach him? You've never been to his planet," Piccolo said, and Goku groaned.
"Right I forgot."
"Hello? Goku? You there!" A voice rang out in Goku's mind and he jumped a foot in the air.
"Huh? Who's there?" the Saiyan asked before he recognised the voice. "Oh, King Kai, it's been a long time since I heard your voice."
"It has, but I've been keeping an eye on Earth in case you ever needed help. And from the sounds of things you do."
"Yes, do you know where to find the planet the Namekians went to, we need their help."
"Of course I do. I know everything that goes on in my part of the universe. Anyway, come to my planet, use this image I'm sending you now for directions, and I'll show you the way," King Kai explained, and Goku nodded as he held his fingers to his forehead and this time he vanished via Instant Transmission and appeared on King Kai's planet.
"Hm so this is your planet," he said looking around. "Where Tien and the others got some training in when they were dead."
"That's right," King Kai said, walking over with Bubbles and Gregory by his side. "Now then, onto business, you want to find New Namek to get a new guardian for Earth, right?"
"Yes, it's our only way to bring the Dragonballs back; without them we can't undo all the suffering Cell has brought upon Earth," Goku answered. "Please King Kai, you have to tell me where New Namek is."
King Kai looked into Goku's eyes before nodding and he turned away as his antenna began to twitch. "Alright. But be quiet so I can concentrate," he told Goku, who waited patiently for King Kai to locate the energy signal until he perked up. "Ha, got them. The planet is in that direction," he told Goku, pointing to some point in the sky and Goku nodded.
"Awesome, thanks." He looked in the direction and placed his fingers to his forehead and began focusing to try and locate the energy signal he needed. "I got it. See ya," he chirped before vanishing, leaving King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory alone.
He soon appeared on the new Planet Namek and he saw he was in the middle of one of the villages. "Wow, look at all the Namekians," he muttered as the villagers all looked at him warily. "Uh…hi there. My name's Goku, I fought Frieza on the old Planet Namek." The Namekians all smiled, nodding as they remembered him.
"Ah, Goku, yes we remember you and your friends," the elder of the village said. "We thank you for saving us, but now it is your world in danger, correct?"
"You sensed what was happening on Earth all the way from here?" Goku asked, amazed, and the elder nodded. Goku explained the situation as the villagers gathered around him.
"You need a new guardian of Earth?" a voice asked. "Then I am the one for the job." The villagers moved aside as a Namekian youngling stepped forwards.
"Dende, you sure you want to do this?" the elder asked, and Dende nodded, making the elder smile. "Very well. You have talked about your friends Krillin, Gohan, Azumi, and Daisuke ever since we came to this planet. You will make a fine guardian."
"If he wants to do it, then he's hired," Goku said with a smile as he and Dende shook hands. "So, you ready to go?' he asked, and the Namekian nodded. Soon the duo returned to Kami's Lookout via Instant Transmission. "Hey, look, I brought Dende to become the new guardian."
"Dende!" Gohan exclaimed in joy at seeing the Namekian again. "It's so good to see you." He shook the new guardian's hands.
"It's good to see you too Gohan, where are your mother and sister?" Dende asked.
"Oh, they're in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, they'll be out soon once they finish training," Gohan answered.
"While we wait, why don't you and Mr Popo get acquainted and revive Shenron?" Goku asked with a smile, and Dende nodded.
"Of course," he said as Mr Popo walked over with the statue of Shenron, which Dende took in his hands.
"Now, can you make Shenron grant three wishes like Porunga can on Namek?" Gohan asked.
"And can you make sure that the dragon can bring all those killed by Cell back to life?" Piccolo added, and Dende gulped before he got an idea.
"I can, but I will have to rechannel some of its power into granting wishes, that way only two wishes can be granted at a time."
"Good enough. Make the dragon like that," Piccolo told Dende, who nodded and set the dragon statue down, holding his hands over it. He began chanting in Namekian before streams of light flew from his hands into the statue of the dragon. Everyone watched and waited until a beam of light shot into the air before splitting into seven that flew off all across the Earth to the old Dragonballs striking them, and turning them all back to normal.
"It's all done, the dragon can be summoned as soon as the Dragonballs are gathered together." Dende told the group.
"Wow, that was fast," Goku said, impressed. "I'll go borrow Bulma's dragon radar and grab the Dragonballs right away."
"Good luck, and hopefully you'll be back by the time Daisuke and Azumi finish training," Gohan said, and his father nodded before he used Instant Transmission to head to Capsule Corp. He appeared in Bulma's lab and saw her working on repairing Android 16.
"Hey Bulma, do you have the dragon radar?" he asked, and Bulma smiled at him.
"Sure, in the second draw over there," she answered while continue to work. Goku nodded, and grabbed the dragon radar and walked over to the table.
"So, how is this guy doing?" he asked, looking down at the android that had nearly killed him once before.
"Great, the circuitry in this android is amazing. Dr Gero was a genius…" Bulma began before she saw Goku frown.
"That so-called genius hurt Daisuke, and this Android nearly killed me," he said, surprisingly cold, which made Bulma flinch.
"I know…forget I said anything," she said softly, and Goku nodded before he placed his hand on her shoulder gently with a smile at his friend before he left to find the Dragonballs.
Soon, Goku returned to the lookout, the seven Dragonballs in his arms and he smiled. "Hey, guess what I found," he chirped, setting the seven balls down.
"Nice work," a voice said, and he looked up to see Daisuke with her arms crossed and a smile on her face.
"Hey Dai, you finished training already?" he asked her.
"Yeah. Azumi and Gohan just went in for their training. After that It'll be Piccolo, then Vegeta, and then Trunks and Pan if she wants to train as well," she answered before she pulled Goku into a hug. "You remembered it's their birthday tomorrow, right?"
"Of course I remembered. Do you think I'd forget?" Goku asked, and Daisuke grinned, making him pout. "I'm not that forgetful."
"Not all the time, but sometimes you can forget important things," she told him with a small grin. "Come on, while they train let's get everything set up." Both flew away from the Lookout back to their home to prepare everything.
Later the next day, Gohan and Azumi landed in front of their house and opened the door. "Mom? Dad? We're back from our time in the hyperbolic time chamber," Azumi said as they walked into the house, but saw the lights were off until they came on.
"Surprise!" Daisuke and Goku cheered as they stood by the kitchen table with a large birthday cake and several presents. "Happy Birthday!"
"Whoa, you guys remember?" Gohan asked in awe with a smile.
"Of course we remembered, did you really think we wouldn't?" Daisuke asked, hugging both her kids who hugged back.
"But what about Cell…shouldn't we worry more about him?" Azumi asked in concern.
"We should. But I think for this one day we can forget all about it and spend today as a family. This is a happy moment. So let's make the most of it," Goku answered with a smile as he ruffled her hair.
"Dad!" she whined with a pout, making the others chuckle, and soon the family began celebrating. Gohan and Azumi opened all their presents and smiled at what they were. For Gohan a telescope, some adventure novels, along with his own personalised fighting Gi.
Azumi received a new sword, plus some instruction manuals on how to fight using a sword, and she too got her own fighting Gi.
"Now it's time for the cake," Daisuke said as she grabbed the knife and began cutting the cake. "Now hope you guys enjoy it, I made this cake myself." Her kids smiled as they began to eat their slices.
Soon Daisuke was cleaning up the rubbish around the house from all the opened presents before she walked to check on Gohan and Azumi, and saw both siblings asleep in their beds. She smiled softly.
"They've grown so much," Goku whispered, wrapping his arm around her waist gently.
"Yeah…and we're forcing them to fight against the strongest opponent we've ever faced in a few days," Daisuke replied softly. "What if…" she began before Goku silenced her with a kiss.
"No what ifs. I won't let them fight Cell alone, even if I'm no match for him myself," Goku told her calmly.
"Promise me that if anything happens you'll always look after them," Daisuke said.
"You know I will Daisuke, and you promise the same thing," Goku said, and Daisuke nodded. He smiled. "Good, now let's get some sleep, this might be the final night we can get a good night sleep." Daisuke nodded as she and Goku walked to their bedroom, and once Daisuke shut the door, she tackled Goku to the bed and kissed him gently.
"Then let's make this a night to remember," she whispered and Goku nodded. The two kissed once again as they settled in for a long night.
