Niklaus gazed at the sleeping Caroline and adored the way her legs were intertwined with his. His finger lightly grazed her arm that was draped across his stomach until it stopped at her cheek. He was enchanted at the softness of her skin and when her blue-green eyes opened he couldn't help but smile.
It was so genuine that Caroline became speechless and her eyes widened a bit. It took a few seconds before she recovered and gave him a smile that turned into a grin as she moved on top of him again.
"You were insatiable Caroline. I wonder why?" His hands were on the back of her waist as they made their way downstairs.
"Correction. I am insatiable," Caroline giggled and pecked him on the cheek.
Niklaus grinned as they continued to make their way to the kitchen since Caroline seemed to be feeling a little peckish. He never really ate that much human food but enjoyed doing so when with Caroline. He decided to make some crepes and was proud of his idea when he saw how delighted Caroline was with the finished product.
"That's strange, I haven't seen Maia yet," Caroline noted.
Suddenly on full alert Klaus sped to the room that he provided Maia and saw that it was empty. He stood still for a minute trying to pick up her presence but only felt his and Caroline's. He was astounded. He had assigned several people to keep a lookout for the woman and it seems no one noticed her leaving. He sped back to the room he gave to the woman and saw that it was indeed empty but saw a note on the bed and moved to pick it up. It was addressed for Caroline, he tried to open it but the paper appeared to be stronger than steel. He surmised an enchantment had been placed so that only Caroline could open it. He was sure she was not a witch, but what kind of being could use magic besides a witch?
The Mikaelsons were on full alert. After Maia's disappearance Klaus tightened security and tried to keep Caroline in his sight as much as he could. He clung onto the letter and contemplated if he should give it to Caroline. It was the only clue left by the mysterious woman and it seemed only Caroline would be able to open it. Sighing, he made his way to give it to Caroline so they could have even the smallest of leads to start with the search.
Caroline sat down as Klaus handed the letter to her. She opened it without any struggle which confirmed Niklaus' suspicion that Maia can use magic which further confuses him of her identity.
My Dear Caroline,
You are stronger than you think, much more so than anyone who loves you thinks. You are a very special person, and I know you deserve your dreams. At least, what's still plausible within this reality. You will soon realize the gifts I blessed you with. I'm sure you will love them.
P.S. Tell Niklaus not to worry, I am to be trusted. I put a warding spell over your home, no creature or human with evil intention against all of you can come through. Any trusted witch would be able to verify it.
With all my love,
Maiashrani
All that the letter gave Caroline was more confusion. She handed the letter over to Klaus and pondered over the fact that she didn't notice how the woman had magic, and that she was apparently strong one if she could ward any creature or human being.
As they were taking their time being perplexed, they suddenly hear screaming, or rather shrieking outside of the house. Caroline and Niklaus headed outside of the house only to find Hayley, screaming like a maniac as she was stopped from entering by an invisible wall. Caroline was even more puzzled, but Niklaus only smirked as it confirmed his suspicions that the woman was up to no good.
