Chapter 63
The Jinchūriki Host's
Things weren't looking so good right now. They couldn't prevent Gaara from making it back to the Hidden Sand's Forward Command Base and now things were going down hill fast. The base was being garrisoned by 1 squad of Hidden Sand ANBU Black Ops which was a serious threat to even experienced Jōnin let alone a squad of 3 Genin. Luckily since it was only a single squad their numbers only consisted of 9 agents, sadly that doesn't make a difference for Genin level shinobi. A group of 20 Jōnin level ninja were also stationed at the large base who were overseeing a personnel staff of over 60 Chūnin level shinobi.
This entire garrison plus the large invasion force made up 2/3rds of the entire Hidden Sand Village's military strength. Only a garrison that was 3 times the size of this base was still stationed back at the Hidden Sand and that was an insignificant number in comparison to the size of their village and country. The Hidden Leaf as of today has over 9000 active shinobi in its roster and nearly 2000 in retirement. Before the Nine Tailed Fox's attack, back during the Third Great Shinobi World War the village had a capacity of upwards of nearly 20,000 shinobi but those numbers were cut down due to the war to below 13,000 and that number was again drastically reduced due to the Nine Tailed Fox who killed off thousands more to bring the village down to a measly 6000.
This number has increased by over 3000 over the next 12 years but the village is nowhere near its prime as it used to be. In comparison the Hidden Sand as a whole had over 2500 shinobi in its military which was laughable at best when you factor in the sheer size of their country's land and all of the area they had to defend and patrol including their own Hidden Village which was massive in its own right. The severe budget cuts and other legal restrictions the Land of Wind's Daimyo placed on his own Hidden Village has weakened the Hidden Sand to the point that number wise they have the same amount of Shinobi in their roster as the minor villages such as the Hidden Grass and Hidden Rain. Even then some of the minor villages have number wise, even more shinobi than the Hidden Sand currently, as was the case with the Hidden Rain who has struggled to pull up its military might since the Second Shinobi World War under the leadership of the Legendary Shinobi Hanzo of the Salamander.
This was the Hidden Sand's last gambit. The invasion had to be successful or in a few short years their economy wouldn't be able to support having the Hidden Sand as one of the Five Great Villages anymore. It would be regulated down to a minor village and lose the right to have their village leader hold the esteemed title of Kage. It would be the worst humiliation any village has suffered in the history of the Village System since its inception. The Sand couldn't afford this disgrace, so their only option was to overthrow the village that was causing them all of their problems.
As things stood now Sasuke, Fū, and Karin were in deep trouble. A small group of Chūnin and a few Jōnin came to handle the opposing Genin and so far, they were only toying with the three teens since they scouted the area around the base and determined that they were in no threat of being attacked by a superior force.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!" Sasuke yelled as he spewed forth a barrage of bright red fireballs that flew through the air at high speeds towards a group of Chūnin who managed to evade the attack except for one who was distracted by Fū's attack on one of his comrades. The unsuspecting Chūnin took a fireball straight to the face that had the teenage ninja screaming on the ground in agony as his face was torched by 3rd degree burns. While one of his comrades went to his down teammate in concern Sasuke took this opportunity to throw a spread of shuriken at another group of Chūnin in distraction as he desperately tried his best to regroup with Fū was wasn't fairing much better against four Chūnin who were trying to separate her from Sasuke. Karin was watching Fū's back while trying to bridge the gap between them and Sasuke, but her support wasn't amounting to much since there were two Jōnin standing back watching the whole affair going on.
'This was a terrible idea, we're outmatched in every way. There's just too many of them. It's a whole base!' Sasuke thought through gritted teeth as he narrowly dodged a kunai slash attack from a tall bearded Chūnin whose turban covered the majority of his head and draped down the sides of his face. Dropping to his knee Sasuke flexed his fingers that had barely visible thin ninja wire interwoven between not only his fingers but between the legs of the closest four Chūnin engaging him. 'This is it!' Sasuke thought in his mind as he flared his chakra.
'That kid! He's going to…!' One of the observing Jōnin noticed at the last second as he drew in his breath to warn his unsuspecting comrades but Sasuke was just a second faster, especially since Sasuke paralyzed one of the enemy Shinobi with the generic Sharingan induced Genjutsu which served to distract the others just long enough for the young Uchiha to entangle the sand ninja in his trap.
"Fire Style: Dragon Fire Jutsu!" Sasuke roared as his chakra flared to life all around him in the form of a shroud of roaring flames that traveled down the lengths of the conductive wires to the Chūnin who only now realized far to late the grave mistake they had made. In seconds the connected individuals were caught on fire as their screams filled the air for all to hear. The smell of burnt flesh was starting to arise and in the midst of this nauseating feeling Sasuke unleashed another scattered barrage of his Phoenix Flower technique that were enshrouding thrown shuriken as extra insurance.
Two more Chūnin fell to this barrage while everyone else scattered to safety or used a hasty Substitution Jutsu to cheat death all the while Sasuke took advantage of this intermission in the fighting to regroup with Fū and Karin who weren't fairing much better. Sasuke's attack combined with Fū's own personal simultaneous attacks that Sasuke wasn't even aware of lined up perfectly and opened a gap for the unlikely trio to reunite.
"We need to fall back, we can't get to Gaara now as things stand. They'll kill us long before we could ever clear this base and find Gaara." Sasuke informed as he subtly used his Sharingan based Genjutsu to ward off the far weaker Chūnin and give the trio some breathing room. It didn't amount to much for the more intelligent fighters who knew not to look into the young kid's eyes but every second Sasuke could buy for his allies were seconds well earned.
"Do you think they'll let us. We're in this hole together. We just need to wait until your friends arrive!" Fū countered as sweat rolled down her face. She didn't want to call out her trump card just yet and start relying on her residence's chakra, but as things stood now it was quickly becoming apparent that she couldn't hold back for much longer. Even then she wasn't so sure her boost in power would allow her to overcome an entire garrison of enemy ninja. The girl from the Hidden Waterfall Village made sure to remove her headband so that it couldn't be seen by the Sand Ninja. She didn't want her home the target of the Hidden Sand's retribution should they somehow win this impromptu war. Karin herself didn't have to worry about this problem since Fū previously had her discard her headband. Karin was now a missing ninja since she abandoned the Hidden Grass.
Before Sasuke could reply to that Karin spoke up. "We won't have to wait long. They're half a mile out and closing fast. What to do?" Sasuke didn't have a definitive answer to that as he deflected a stray shuriken from a gruff looking Chūnin. The trio of Genin started to grow apprehensive since it looked like the Sand Shinobi were no longer interested in toying around with them. Sasuke spied the squad of Sand ANBU standing at the top of the bases walls staring down at them impassively like vultures circling their prey.
Sasuke knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were no match for an entire squad of ANBU. Sasuke was definitely Chūnin level and he knew it. Fū was too based on her skills and Sasuke was reluctant to admit that Fū was much stronger than him. Karin was still Genin level but her special skill set was an extremely valuable asset.
"We can't hold out forever! We need to fall back the first chance we get and regroup with Naruto and the others." Sasuke spoke but before he could think of saying anymore a Jōnin stepped up making his presence known. He had a stern countenance adoring his face and the look in his eyes spelled death to the three Genin way in over their head.
"I think it's time we stopped messing around with you kids. You've already cost us too many of our comrade's lives. You all can't be allowed to get away with this any longer." The Jōnin growled as he followed through with a chain of hand signs that were far to fast for the Genin to see, except for Sasuke thanks to his Sharingan but even that wasn't an equalizer since Sasuke himself wasn't faster than the much older man. "Look out!" Sasuke warned as the Jōnin slammed his hand onto the ground while channeling a noticeable amount of chakra into his attack.
"Earth Style: Cascading Rock Crusher Jutsu!" The attack was prominent as thick walls of rock raised up out of the ground at high speeds that then receded back into the ground as the next one rises. The process was incredibly fast, and the tsunami of earthen walls were rushing at Sasuke and the others who were being backed into a corner. 'I've got to think fast.' Sasuke panicked as he went through a quick chain of hand signs at an alarming rate while clenching his palm open into a stiff manner. Burst of lightning quickly shrouded Sasuke's hands as he lunged forward and slammed his lightning covered fist into the oncoming attack at the very last possible second. "Chidori!"
The wall detonated with a bang due to the volatile chakra in Sasuke's attack as large chunks of rock and debris flew off in every direction which caught the keen eye of Fū who to Sasuke's surprise sprung into action. "Close your eyes Sasuke." Fū warned to the Uchiha who took the older girls advice this time and began to close them just as he saw her launch dozens upon dozens of thin silk threads that she generated in her hands. The adhesive threads stuck themselves to the large chunks of stone and rock that were flying through the air and with a pirouette like twirl Fū swung the rocks around in a rapid fire like motion as she let the flying earth projectiles go at different intervals while adding a boost to them in the form of her favorite technique.
"Secret Technique: Wind Style: Silver Wind Jutsu!" The effect was immediate as a powerful gust of wind rippled through the clearing leading up to the base's walls from two green insects like wings growing out of Fū's lower back. Sasuke couldn't see this since he had heeded said girls warning but being so close to her he could feel the sudden spike in her chakra. The wind itself was tinted silver due to the copious amounts of refined silver flaked glitter produced from the wings on Fū's back.
In seconds the entire area lit up in a bright flash of light as the reflective glitter became exposed to the sunlight shining down from above causing a flashbang like affect to occur, which was the very same phenomenon to occur in Fū's fight against Kankurō a few minutes prior. The effect was immediate as many of the enemy Sand Ninja closed their eyes on reflex which opened up a brief lapse in their concentration. Many of the ninja were hit with the high-speed rocks Fū sent at them which knocked many of them off their feet, cracking ribs, braking bones, and bruising skin. Three Chūnin met their deaths as particularly large rocks flew at their unprotected faces smashing their faces in and killing them instantly.
It was a gruesome sight if anyone was actually capable of seeing it but luckily everyone on both sides were mutually blinded to this onslaught that no sane individual would want to willingly watch. 'This chakra. It belongs to Naruto and his friends. He has so much, its so powerful.' Karin thought as she felt Naruto and his group arrive in the area surrounding the camp. She could detect Naruto's massive chakra reserves which dwarfed that of his traveling companions and even that of Fū besides her but at the same time it also felt very warm and inviting. 'His power is massive, but its not all his. It's connected to two smaller individuals. No, three. It's like they're an ecosystem all sharing this massive amount of energy between their bodies in perfect harmony. I've never heard of such a thing. Is that even possible?' Karin thought to herself in morbid shock as she used her extremely powerful sensory abilities to delve deeper into the energy signature that Naruto gives off.
'Right now, it seems distorted somehow. Like a Genjutsu was placed over them. They're masking their approach so that they're not detected. If I didn't have my sensory abilities, I'd never sense them being here. That's one impressive cloaking technique.' Karin noted as she couldn't detect Naruto or his groups presence through the use of her normal senses, and she doubts any of the Sand Shinobi sense the group as well. She was just about the warn Sasuke and Fū of Naruto's arrival when she felt his chakra spike behind the veil.
'Wait! His chakra just multiplied and is spiking like crazy. He's going on the attack!' Karin thought as she felt the additional identical chakra signatures of Naruto pop up in a perfect perimeter around the enemy's base. "Sasuke. Your friends are here." Karin whispered out as she kept her eyes closed. Even with her eyelids closed she could see her vision becoming much brighter due to Fū's attack so she knew it was visually stunning. "I think he's going on the attack. Now's our chance to fall back and regroup." Karin advised and just like that the whole area around the base lit up in chaos.
With Naruto
"We're coming up on their base real soon Naruto, what's our plan?" Pakkun questioned as the scent of a large amount of people were becoming more and more prevalent to the little pug as time went on. They were close, and it wouldn't be to long now before they would be on top of the enemy's strong hold.
"We need to back Sasuke and the others up. We can't take on that entire base by ourselves in a front on attack. We'll surprise them with one quick and large-scale surprise attack." Naruto suggested as he stirred up his potent chakra in preparation for this attack. "Will we even be able to stop all of them! It's an entire base Naruto!" Sakura protested in concern as she was very intimidated by the fact they were going to be facing off against an entire enemy base. "You won't be fighting Sakura so don't worry. I need you to tend to any of their injuries with your medical bag and give us support." Naruto retorted without looking behind him, so he never saw the disappointed and self-loathing look that crossed his teammates face. She felt completely inadequate compared to Naruto and the rest of her classmates.
"Shino can your bugs survive in water?" Naruto was quick to ask as a plan was formulating in his mind with each step he took. It had to be relatively simple but effective in its results. They didn't have an exact number of how many ninjas were in the base, so the attack while simple had to be extremely big and wide spread in its damage. The object of this task wasn't to fight a long-prolonged battle against an entire battalion of shinobi, but to swiftly take out as many of them as humanly possible.
"Yes Naruto, my kikaichū colony has even developed a resistance to your Ice Style and cold weather over the years. What did you have in mind?" Shino responded back in a pointed manner as Naruto couldn't help but grimace a bit in discomfort at the reminder Shino was trying to imply. It's been a while, but there was a time where Naruto didn't trust his classmates or anyone else about his personal life and his hidden abilities. His paranoia was a toxic blight on his mental and social health and as the days go by he's glad he was able to get so much of his burden off his chest.
"Good. I'm going to flood the entire base from every angle and I want you to dump as many of your bugs into the water as possible. Once the place is flooded your bugs will attach themselves to the sand ninja in the confusion and suck them dry of their chakra. By the time the attack is over we should have taken out a large majority of the garrison in the base and for extra insurance I'm going to freeze the base as soon as your bugs are all attached. I'll make sure to get them back to you once this is all over." Naruto spoke as he articulated his plan to the others who were paying close attention. "That seems sufficient enough." Shino nodded in his mechanical manner. He was still a boy of very few words.
"Do you think this will work Naru?" Eva questioned as she gripped the hairs in Naruto's scalp a little tighter. She was a little concerned herself, but she'd follow Naruto down to hell and back, so the little Winter Fairy had no intentions of backing out of this. Naruto had a solemn look on his face as he could feel his partners slight distress. This was a huge gambit, even for him and on his own Naruto knew without a shadow of a doubt that he'd die fighting that many shinobi at once but that was why he had to truly believe in his abilities and in his friends. He couldn't do it alone.
"It has to work Eva, it has too." Naruto replied as the others looked at Naruto's back in worry. Iris and Chaos shared a quick look between each other before they spoke up. "Daddy, this plan will work. We'll help in the ambush and make sure this goes as plan. They won't stand a chance if all of us goes in." Iris reassured with a beautiful smile that lightened Naruto's spirit but also placed another burden on his shoulders. "Iris we're talking about killing these people. I can't let you girls do that. You've never taken a life before and I won't let you do so now. That goes double for you Chaos, I won't let you feel that pain." Naruto protested vehemently as he casted an overprotective and concerned gaze over his two girls who both looked away in inner debate.
Naruto wasn't sure if Lady Sōkyoku has ever killed before, it wasn't a conversation they've ever had before since as a powerful Goddess he wasn't sure if she's ever had to fight much or strike someone down. Much of Lady Sōkyoku's past and general background is still a mystery to Naruto even after all these years. But as far as Chaos is concerned, Naruto knows for sure that the tiny terror has killed hundreds of people in the past. She is a war machine, built for destruction and death and that broke Naruto's heart immensely. The psychological trauma and damage that must have caused to his daughter was enough to bring him to his knees. He didn't want her to feel such pain again.
"Naruto, are you sure of this? We could use their help." Sakura countered as she saw the way Naruto reacted. "I will not let my daughters turn into killers like me Sakura and that's final!" Naruto yelled as a harsh self-loathing glare came to his face as he thought back to the many lives he's had to take. He's killed individuals in the line of duty as a Shinobi, Mafia agent, and when he was all on his own before meeting the people who would give him a family. Till this very day he still remembers every face of the people he's had to kill, and it doesn't make him feel any better about whether it was justified or right.
None of his classmates have had their first kills before, they don't know what it's like and that wasn't something he wanted his daughters to go through. In his mind he understands that it's a little redundant since they live in the shinobi world and death is around every possible corner but the father in him wants to selfishly protect his girls, even if he's trained them all their life to harness and use their abilities to protect themselves and others. He stubbornly just couldn't stand the thought of his daughters becoming exactly like him. He wanted them to be better that him and to not have to suffer the way he does.
Sakura flinched back in fright as it wasn't everyday Naruto raised his voice in such a harsh manner. The tiniest amount of moister welled up in Sakura's eyes as she wasn't particularly used to this side of Naruto. But thinking of it objectively she could also understand why he would react like this. These were his children. Even after all this time and how weird it is that he's a father it doesn't change the fact that they were all talking about two six-year-old kids. It is a very difficult subject to tackle, so Sakura could understand why Naruto would be so against this. She could only imagine what was going on inside his mind right now.
Seeing the frighten look on his teammates face as well as feeling the solemn mood in the group Naruto lowered his head in shame. "I'm sorry Sakura, I didn't mean to yell at you like that. I'm doing the best I can with my girls. You have no idea how difficult it is for me to wrap my mind around the fact that my girls aren't even human and that one day soon they'll be more powerful than all of us combined. They'll be stronger than we could ever possibly imagine. I wanted them to have a normal live but it's so impossible to give them that." Naruto apologized in sincerity as it wasn't his intention to snap at his teammate. Raising two children wasn't easy at his age and the biggest challenge in his life that he's had to face in regard to that has always been his morals and ideals on how to raise his girls.
"I'm sorry too Naruto. Iris and Chaos are your children, they're not shinobi and they're not killers. You're their father and you decide what's best for them." Sakura said in a kind and gentle voice filled with sympathy and apathy. Seeing the look in her teammate eye was enough for Sakura to understand the gravity of the situation. None of them were parents. They were only 12 going on 13. They were no where near ready for the biggest job in anyone's life. But this was a duty Naruto's had for the last six years of his life. Exactly half of his life has been dedicated to the two blond haired girls jumping through the trees with them. They were only children. That was a daunting notion to contemplate as only Naruto understands the full weight and responsibly of truly being responsible for the life of another human being.
This revelation gave Sakura a newfound appreciation for her own parents who were both civilians now. She vowed to go talk to them once this was all over. "Thank you, Sakura. I'm glad you understand, and I'm sorry for yelling at you." Naruto said with a faint but heartfelt smile on his face which Sakura returned but it was quickly side tracked for Chaos's signature giggles which sounded far more prominent than anything the groups heard before.
The biggest smile was on Chaos's face right now as her eyes glowed with mischief and power. "That's so sweet Dada. But you don't have to worry about me feeling bad. If stopping these bad people from destroying our home keeps you and everyone else safe Dada then I don't care what I have to do." Chaos said with a smile that would be completely unnerving to any normal person and for the first time in a very long time the smile that was on his daughter's face was very unnerving for Naruto. "Chaos it's not that simple. This is a war, and it's my job as a shinobi to protect our home. If I could have raised you two as normal children instead then I would have, but things didn't work out the way I wanted. I understand you have powers, but to kill others isn't the kind of life I want for you or your sister." Naruto countered as he could see his daughter psyche and stability slowly slipping further and further away. Her instability is usually kept within a perfect balance on any normal given day but in times of great turmoil and strife Naruto and everyone around him can catch a glimpse of Chaos's true colors. That of a broken, misguided, psychopathic child and it pains him greatly everytime he thinks of that painful reality.
In return for hearing Naruto could have sworn he saw a brief genuine love filled smile grace his unhinged daughters face instead of the usual unnerving and broken smile that usually plagues her face but with the blink of an eye that extremely rare sight was replaced by a more intense expression on Chaos's face. Naruto blinked as he had to replay that brief scene in his mind. That visage would be in Naruto's mind for a long time to come.
Devotion, obsession, and bare faced insanity was prevalent in Chaos's gaze. "How can you become Hokage one-day Dada if our home is destroyed?" Chaos questioned as Naruto was quick with a comeback ready. "That's not the point Chaos, I'll do anything I have to in order to protect your heart from so much pain." Naruto sternly replied but the smile didn't leave Chaos's face at all, in fact it only got bigger as she looked at her father with a look he's never seen before. "You don't have to protect my reactor Dada. You're so silly, you just don't understand that I'd do anything for you Daddy!" Chaos said in a tone that made Naruto's heart skip a beat in a painful way.
Chaos never refers to him as 'Daddy'; she usually refers to him in the babyish way of calling him 'Dada' as a reflection of her childish mentality. He couldn't even begin to describe the look that was on her face right now or the tirade of emotions he was sensing coming through their bond that they share. It was completely overwhelming to the young preteen and it would leave an impression on him for a long time to come.
"Chaos what are you saying…?" Naruto whispered in uncertainty and concern as he felt a strange and sudden surge from his insane daughter. "If you don't want me killing anyone then I'll just change the way I fight them then." Chaos announced as a strange light Naruto's not seen in months erupted from Chaos's body. A deep purple glow was emanating from the center of Chaos's chest right in the same spot that it glowed the one-time Naruto had the nightmare on their way back from the Land of Waves. "Back when you had that suppression seal removed from your body, we all received a massive boost to our powers. I saved up my power and never used it until now." Chaos explained with a grin.
It's been so long that he had completely forgotten about it. 'That glow, it's been so long but it happened when I had that nightmare all hose months ago.' Naruto remembered as the glow enveloped Chaos's body in a translucent veil of mystical power.
Self-Evolution Program: PANDORA System
"Engage." Chaos intoned as her wings sprouted from her back with a flourish. The coloration and paint on her wings grew more vibrant and rich in saturation. The grin on her face grew as the power transformed into a dark miasma like aura.
New Ability Unlocked: Dark Magic, Black Magic, Chaos Magic
The giddiest expression was on Chaos's face right now as Naruto felt a dramatic spike in Chaos's power. His daughter just got a lot stronger. "I did this all for you Dada, now you don't have to worry about me. I'll put us all under an illusion so that the enemy doesn't know we're coming." Chaos announced as the area around them grew blurry and distorted as a simple yet complex illusion that cloaked the entire team and masked their presence was formed from Chaos's power.
"Chaos what are you doing sweetheart! Why are you going so far for me?" Naruto couldn't help but ask in a weaker voice as he could feel the obsessive need in Chaos's emotions to go through with her actions. "Because I told you silly, I'd do anything for you Daddy and that's not going to change. I'll help protect our family and friends." Chaos said with a rare inkling of determination shining through her voice.
Naruto had a bewildered look on his face as he just stared at his daughter in morbid shock. He would have never expected this level of determination from Chaos of all people. It just wasn't in her usual personality to show such strong desire and will in an interest. It completely threw Naruto for a loop. This was something he had to talk to Chaos about. His daughters were changing, he knew this day would come when they would start to change rapidly. They weren't human, much less mortal. They were both important figures with big destinies ahead of them. Destinies that Lady Sōkyoku has hinted at and warned Naruto about for many years ever since their very first meeting. The times were changing, and Naruto knew things would continue to escalate from here on out.
"Daddy, you don't have to worry about me either." Iris spoke as she looked towards her father with a tender look in her eyes. Naruto was caught off guard as he couldn't tell who was speaking to him right now. Iris or Sōkyoku. The girl's eyes weren't their usual powerful emerald green that shows up whenever Sōkyoku manifest herself yet the tone in the beautiful girl's voice didn't match the innocent and childlike persona of Iris either.
"I'll keep this brief. It's my duty to bare the weight of the living and being your daughter won't change that responsibility of mine. Life and Death are naught but simple domains to me. My heart is strong enough to shoulder this burden, but it's even bigger to shoulder this burden with you. So, don't fret, we can do this." Iris said as she gazed at her father with a look from a being that was eons old. But with that overwhelming look came a glimpse of raw determination unlike anything Naruto's ever seen from his girls before.
He was outclassed and out of his depth here. His girls won this debate.
'I knew this day would come, but even now I still don't want them going around killing. But I have to be strong, I know I can be strong. Not just for myself, but for my girls too. I can do this.' Naruto said as a few tears came to his eyes that everyone was able to see.
"Ok. I'm with you on this." Naruto said as he wiped the tears from his eyes. "Let's go!"
Forward Command Base (Hidden Sand Village)
It all happened without so much as a warning. For the briefest second, the many veteran shinobi in the base felt a massive surge of immense chakra that was foreign to them all, and before anyone could react a large wave of wind enhanced water tore through the clearing from multiple angles around the base. The torrent of water was traveling far to fast for most of the Chūnin to react too and as such they were washed away into the surge with their screams being muted underneath the crashing waves. It was unnoticeable to the untrained naked eye, but tiny black bugs were in the water latching themselves onto the unsuspecting Shinobi who were too preoccupied with trying to keep their heads above the water to notice the usually unnoticeable bugs.
The rapid chakra enhanced waves advanced without opposition as it slammed into the portable reinforced walls of the compound crashing them down on top of unsuspecting Chūnin on the other side of the wall. This attack was on such a scale that the garrison inside the base couldn't properly react as they saw the crashing waves breach their security walls. "We're under attack!" A Jōnin yelled before the water crashed down into the barracks area catching the shinobi in the beds and rooms unprepared.
Jōnin and Chūnin who were more alert began forming defensive walls with Earth Style Ninjutsu to protect themselves against the waves that were now being temporarily diverted around them but an attack unlike anything they've ever encountered was about to literally drop down on them.
At least a hundred feet in the air were two small six-year-old girls that we all know and love. It was Iris and Chaos hovering above the ground with the psychotic little Angeloid's wicked array of sharp blade like wings spread wide behind her back. She had her arms wrapped around her sister's waist holding her up in the air alongside her. Chaos's purple wings glistened in the afternoon sunlight as the grin on the girl's face grew alongside her bubbling anticipation.
"Good luck out their Chaos. Just remember not to kill any of these men." Iris advised with a small bemused smile on her face as she glanced a look over to her Angeloid twin sister who returned this gesture with a big smile. "Ok, you be safe out there too Iris." Chaos replied as she received a kiss from her sister as a good luck charm. "Let's have some fun!" Chaos said as she dropped her sister while laughing gleefully.
Iris closed her eyes in a moment of tranquility as she felt the wind around her and the sun shining down on her skin. A wishful smile came to her face as she felt the presence of nature all around her. 'I can hold onto this feeling forever. These peaceful times are soon going to come to an end.' Sōkyoku thought with a tired sigh as Iris opened her eyes and a powerful emerald glow could be seen shining brightly in the midday sun. Sōkyoku was in control now.
Picking up speed Sōkyoku slammed her fist into the ground with unprecedented tremendous force which unleashed tremors all across the area that knocked everyone off their feet. "Phoenix Fire: Heat Wave!" Sōkyoku roared as a massive shockwave of superheated air tore through the base which clashed negatively with the freezing cold water from her father's attack. White steam erupted into the atmosphere around the base from the two rapidly different temperatures mixing together in perfect harmony. The ones closest to Sōkyoku felt the corrosive amounts of heat burning the clothes off their skins and inflicting first and second degree burns to their bodies. Their helpless bodies were knocked back like ragdolls as the ancient deity unleashed a massive omnidirectional concussive blast of air to give herself some breathing room once she landed.
The first retaliatory strikes came in the form of a Jōnin with a pair of small Tantō's in his hand. Swirling masses of wind enhanced chakra could be seeing vibrating off the surface of these swords and the emerald green glow in Sōkyoku's eyes flared in challenge to this as the tiny girl quickly pulled out her twin war fans and parried the much older man's assault in an instant. "You're just a child, how do you have this kind of power?" The man asked through gritted teeth as he was not expecting the sturdy resistance he was experiencing from the small girl. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't speaking to Iris right now because you could consider her a child. He was addressing Sōkyoku right now. "I'm no child." The Phoenix said in a challenging tone as a fiery aura surrounded Iris's body. Breaking the lock with the much older man, bright luminous flames surrounded Iris's hands before the young girl threw her hands out and a long whip made of fire lashed out and wrapped around the older man who was stunned by this surprising technique. "Phoenix Interceptor Style: Fire Lash!" Sōkyoku yelled as she twisted her body around in a lightning quick spin that had the effect of throwing the man through the air and into a nearby building.
Seeing their comrade thrown through the air effortlessly by a little girl spurred the other Sand Shinobi into action. Most of them had hesitation and reservations in their eyes about attacking what was clearly a little girl but some among them held no remorse whatsoever in their eyes as they were the first to charge at Iris and they were the first to meet a fireball to the face. Sōkyoku who was still very much in control of Iris's body slipped into a strong and bold fighting stance with her fist clenched tightly before throwing a strong punch forward.
Off of her fire coated fist came an ethereal white colored jet of fire with a large fireball at the head of it. These streams of fire flew through the air far to fast for the initial ninja to respond to and as such he received this powerful attack straight to his face. The man was down in an instant with his allies quickly surrounding Sōkyoku in a perimeter cutting off any chance of escape. "You can't escape you brat!" A Chūnin yelled as he threw shuriken in Iris's direction. Sōkyoku smirked in amusement as a flurry of wind kicked up around her. "I'm not trying to go anywhere." The deity mocked as she launched dozens upon dozens of concentrated air blasts out of the palms of her hands from every direction as the shinobi scrambled to either dodge or attack.
The group of shinobi were so preoccupied with fighting off Sōkyoku that none of them noticed Chaos closing in on them from the sky. While the group themselves didn't notice this, Temari who was coming out from one of the nearby buildings noticed Chaos descending out of the air above the fighting shinobi. "Above you!" Temari yelled in warning as she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Chaos was flying with her large array of blade like wings spread wide behind her back and a gleeful smile was on the little girl's face.
"Naughty, naughty. You all need to be taught all about love." Chaos grinned as a dark miasma like aura surrounded her body and coalesced around the palm of her hand. "How is she flying? Is that girl really flying?" Murmurs like this and many more were resounding throughout the crowd of shinobi but once they saw the aura around Chaos's body grow larger they knew that something bad was coming. "Black Magic: Night Shade!" Crackling black lightning like energy with a crimson outline flew from Chaos's hands and struck the closest person to her and immediately the man started to scream in pain as he dropped to his knees. Interestingly enough not a single scratch or burn was on his body as the ethereal black and crimson colored lightning passed through his body.
The man collapsed to the ground unconscious without a single injury on his body but with his face contorted into a grimace of pain. "What did you do to him you brat!" One man roared who was presumed to be the victims friend as he launched a fireball at Chaos who casually blocked it with a quick application of her Aegis barrier system. "Oh, its simple silly. This cool technique allows me to poison and electrocute a person's energy reserves. The larger a person's energy pool is the more pain they feel, the smaller their energy pool is the less pain they feel. So… for you Jōnin…" Chaos trailed off in a sinister manner as her smile increased exponentially.
The same dark miasma surrounded Chaos's wings before multiple bands of black electricity flew through the air and struck multiple people at once sending many shinobi the ground writhing in pain. Sōkyoku wasn't idle either as she generated a gust of wind and started launching shinobi left and right sending them into nearby walls to knock them out. In seconds more than half of the entire base was cleared out by the two supernatural children whose powers were completely entrancing to the enemy who were no match for these unusual powers. Naruto landed behind his girls with small cuts and bruises across his body.
"Girls are you ok?" Naruto asked as he quickly looked his daughters over to see if they had any scratches or injuries but not seeing any Naruto couldn't help but deadpan a little. He had more trouble with the shinobi who came after him than his daughters. "Everything is fine daddy. Things are going in our favor." Sōkyoku spoke up through Iris as Naruto spied the emerald glow coming from the little blonde's eyes. "I should have known you'd come out Lady Sōkyoku. You're appearing a lot lately." Naruto commented in a combination of concern, curiosity, and suspicion as Chaos landed on Naruto's back with her signature giggle. "She's just excited Dada. Big things are going to be happening." Chaos replied with an unnerving grin that was somehow comforting to Naruto.
"What things? What's about to happen?" Naruto asked in silent alarm as this wasn't the first time his girls and in particular Chaos have said something that has alluded to the future. "Oh, you know silly. The story must continue." Chaos joked with a skittish laugh as the psychotic Angeloid nuzzled her face into Naruto's cheek which the older Uzumaki happily returned. 'Of course, that would be her likely answer. I'm not going to get what I want out of Chaos. She and Lady Sōkyoku knows something is coming. I just have to be prepared for it.' Naruto silently thought to himself as he focused in on Temari who was standing across the field at him with Gaara who was holding his head in pain now that he saw not only Naruto but both Iris and Chaos only a few yards away from him.
"Uzumaki…!" Gaara moaned out in pain as he glared daggers at the assembled Uzumaki family before him. Sand started to pour out of his gourd in agitation as it hissed for the blood of the blonds before it. "Gaara its over, this invasion is going to fail, and the Hidden Sand will surrender once everything is all said and done. I know what you're trying to do. It all makes sense. It was the plan for you to unleash your Tailed Beast back in the village, wasn't it?" Naruto questioned as he spied the gash wound in Gaara's shoulder that was slowly closing up from Sasuke's Chidori strike during their match.
Temari tensed in concern at this as Naruto hit the nail on the head. That was exactly their plan and now it was ruined. Temari wasn't sure what to do next. Her Jōnin sensei Baki wasn't here with her now to give her guidance and her younger brother Gaara was completely unstable at the moment. Ever since the one month break he's alluded to the fact he wants to kill the Uzumaki family but when they questioned him on why he would want to do this he never stated.
"All I want to do is kill you all Uzumaki! You will prove my existence to the world." Gaara said as sand pooled around his feet in a threatening manner. Naruto frowned in concern as his fatherly instincts took over and he placed himself in front of his daughters in a protective manner. "Gaara I can't let you do that. You don't have to be a monster… I understand that you're a Jinchūriki like me but that doesn't define you. Your village is using you as a weapon. But your life is worth more than that. You have to believe your life to be more than that." Naruto pleaded as he felt a waiver within Gaara's chakra as the sand clouds around him slowed down.
"Why do you speak such words to me when I want to kill you?" Gaara couldn't help but ask as he looked directly into Naruto's eyes with a look Naruto's seen before. It was a spark of hope, Naruto could see a small sliver of humanity buried deep within Gaara's eyes and that was all he needed to see. Gaara could be saved.
"Because us Jinchūriki should stick together. There's only 9 of us in the entire world. No one can possibly understand you like I can. We don't have to fight, but I want you to know that I can't let you or your people destroy my home. There has to be another way for both of our countries to get what we need and come out on top of this. If there is a way for that to happen then I'm willing to fight for it." Naruto preached as he saw the different range of emotions flash across Gaara's face.
Naruto tugged on a sliver of Chaos's energy within his body and channeled it to his eyes. A robotic red tint appeared in his eyes as he shared his daughters vision in seeing the emotional range spectrum. He rarely uses this ability and the only notable time when he's done so was the day he was in Shoko's hospital room when she was dying from her injuries. Since then he's rarely used it, and when he does it's in nondescript ways. With his special vision in place Naruto could see the wide range of emotions emanating from the Jinchūriki. Naruto could confirm what he saw earlier in Gaara's eyes. It was humanity, buried deep inside of his soul, but it was definitely there.
"You and your family aren't normal kid, you know that…" Temari mumbled in disbelieve as she couldn't properly comprehend Naruto's ideology and logic. He was an enigma to the teenage girl who has lived in fear of her own little brother for all of her life. The optimism combined with the skills and determination to back up his words that Naruto's displayed are traits she wasn't used to in people she's dealt with all of her life.
"Thanks, I get that a lot." Naruto chimed back with a humorous undertone as he streamed his potent chakra throughout his system again. He wasted some assaulting the base from all sides with his wide area of affect attack and again with ambushing the enemy ninja in the base while they were confused. So, it was safe to say that Naruto wasn't running on a hundred percent.
He could see that his words while reaching Gaara and affecting the unstable Jinchūriki, it would seem that he was still itching for a fight. "Mother craves your blood Uzumaki… your family will prove my existence to the world. Your special…" Gaara mumbled as the sand floated into the air and siphoned themselves into thick sharp tendrils for skewering people. 'This isn't going to end well…' Naruto thought as he tensed his shoulders. His Bo Staff materialized into his hands in a vapor cloud of chilled air all the while Iris slipped into her boxer like Taijutsu stance and Chaos flexed her wings with her ever common perpetual smile growing larger. Evangeline curled up within Naruto's hair as she synced up her energy with Naruto. They were in for an uphill battle and Naruto knew that it wasn't going to be quite like Gaara verses Rock Lee or Sasuke.
"Come UZUMAKI!" Gaara roared as his sand sored through the air towards the gathered Uzumaki family who all scattered in different directions. "Girl's attack him from long distance, I'll get in close!" Naruto yelled out his game plan as he blurred across the clearing in the base with speed Gaara was quickly becoming used to. Naruto was fast. Just a little slower than Sasuke was in their match earlier and a few notches slower than Rock Lee but Naruto was still very fast as he appeared before Gaara in a Body Flicker.
Naruto smashed his staff into the roaming sand cloud that immediately froze over halting its momentum. More sand tendrils began to encroach on Naruto's position, but the blond-haired boy felt the roaring heat from his daughter right on his back as several fireballs slammed into the incoming vectors covering Naruto's flank without him having to do anything. Gaara didn't take to kind to this as a large wave of sand towered over the group of blonds threatening to crash down on them. Frost started to build up around Naruto's feet as he was thinking of using an Ice Wall as a counter but the defense of him and his family was taken out of his hands when the wall of sand came to a sudden halt. A pink outline surrounded the grains of sand letting Naruto know what was happening.
"Aria you're back!" Naruto exclaimed as he turned around to see his Witch companion and roommate Aria Indigo holding the incoming attack at bay with her strong psychic powers. Shikamaru was there along side surprisingly enough Anko who had fresh blood splattered all across her trench coat. "I am master, and I met up with Anko along the way." Aria said as she forced the wave of sand back.
"Hey brat, in the thick of it again I see." Anko smirked as she eyed a few enemy Chūnin and Jōnin standing by the perimeter of that battle. "You know the drill, trouble always finds me." Naruto shot back as he kept his guard up but he wasn't prepared for the spark of recognition that flew through Gaara's eyes when he saw Aria.
"It's you… you got in my way a while back! You kept me from my prey!" Gaara growled as Aria reflexively through up one of her barriers in preparation. 'What is he talking about?' Naruto thought to himself as he noticed a shared look of understanding between Aria and the girls. 'Oh no, now Master is going to find out.' Aria thought with a bead of nervous sweat rolling down her cheek. "Aria what is he talking about? Have you met Gaara before?" Naruto couldn't help but ask. It wasn't in him to blatantly talk during an active battle, but this topic caught his attention too much to just simply pass up. He wanted an answer.
Seeing the look in her master's eyes and vice versa, both Aria and Naruto knew she wasn't going to lie to him. Especially not now. "He came by the apartment during the one-month break while you were at work in the casino. He attacked us, but we fought him off and Iris forced him to retreat. I'm sorry for keeping this from you master!" Aria apologies as a range of emotions played off across Naruto's face that was visible for everyone to see. Shock, disbelieve, confusion, and then anger. 'He was there… in my house… he attacked my family and Aria kept this from me. He attacked my girls… he attacked MY GIRLS!' Naruto roared in his mind as his eyes flashed a dangerous scarlet as his whisker marks started to darken a bit. The Nine Tails Chakra was humming beneath the surface of his skin as anger was staring to seep into Naruto's mind. He sent a potent and scathing glare towards the Psychic Witch who coward away from her master's wrath. Tiny tears started to leak from her eyes as she felt his killing intent and rage bubbling beneath the surface of his skin and to her utmost sadness some of that negativity was directed towards her. Seeing this as well as being able to sense and feel this through their bond Iris thought it best to speak up.
"Daddy, don't be mad at Aria. I ordered her to keep quiet about this. If you knew Gaara attacked us, you would have hunted him down and attacked him on the spot. It would have been a battle you wouldn't have been ready for and you would have been disqualified from the Chūnin Exams if caught. I couldn't risk it. If you have to be mad at someone be mad at me, not Aria." Iris spoke up as she defended the poor witch whose heart was aching in pain over the anger emanating from her own master. Iris knew this was a gamble to say such a thing to her father when he was like this, but she also knew the truth was going to catch up with them soon enough.
"I'm angry at all of you… when this is all over we're all going to sit down and have a nice long chat about keeping secrets in my house. Do you understand me." Naruto growled out in a low tone that sent a shiver up everyone's spines. Iris shrunk back in submission towards her father as she knew she stepped on a land mind. Chaos herself felt the poisonous negative emotions from her father seep into her body causing her great nausea and Aria never felt such shame in herself before. She knew that all three of them were in big trouble. "Yes daddy." Iris spoke in the most subdued and submissive tone she could muster. Chaos and Aria were quick to respond as well since they knew they were in for it later.
'I'm not getting in the middle of that. It's best if I keep my mouth shut.' Anko thought with a sweat drop as she silently excused herself from Naruto's presence taking a nervous and grateful Shikamaru with her. She had other opponents she could fight right now, and she brought along her bruised and battered attack squad with her to help take this base. The only real major threat still around besides the homicidal Jinchūriki was the team of Sand ANBU but luckily for her Anko also brought along Asuma and Kurenai who tagged along. They had their work cut out for them. Anko would have said she had everything in the bag but the glow from a nearby magic summoning circle being fueled by a team of Sand Ninja told her that things wouldn't be as easy as she would have hoped. The pack of demons she saw crawling out of the portal on the ground confirmed this thought for her. 'Oh shit.' The foul mouth woman thought to herself.
"There's been a slight change in plans Gaara. For what you've done to my family I'm going to take you down… hard." Naruto growled as he exchanged his Bo Staff for his twin swords that was overflowing his potent Yōki rich chakra. Gaara felt Naruto's murderous intent and a maniacal grin split his face open in hysteria. "YES UZUMAKI! YES! Come prove that I'm alive. Channel your hatred and let me kill you!" Gaara screamed as his sand exploded around him into a massive tidal wave of death and destruction that was barreling down on his victims.
"SAND TSUNAMI!"
Naruto saw this coming without a single twitch of hesitation in his eyes as a navy blue translucent aura surrounded him.
"ACCELERATION!"
Jutsu Library
1.) Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu - This technique creates a volley of small fireballs, which are sent flying in an unpredictable manner assaulting the enemy. In addition, the flames are controlled individually with chakra, so avoiding them all is extremely difficult. Shuriken can also be concealed within the flames, creating an unexpected secondary surprise attack. Like the flames, the shuriken can be controlled with chakra. For the most part, however, this technique is used as a distraction.
2.) Fire Style: Dragon Fire Jutsu - The user breathes fire along a cord or any other type of long object, which rushes forward in straight line catching the enemy on fire. A line of enemies can be used as the conductor as well. The flames are meant to target, and assault the enemy's upper body just like a projectile weapon.
3.) Substitute Jutsu - One of the three basic Jutsu's required by the academy for everyone (with exceptions of course) to master in order to pass or at the very least to adequately on. This Jutsu is simple in how it works. The user searches or senses out a target and with his chakra he will identify that target and latch onto that object or target with his chakra. Then using his chakra like a beacon and transmitter the user will jump to the location of the object causing the object to switch places with the user so that the user can reconnect with his chakra in a space not already being taken up by said object.
4.) Earth Style: Cascading Rock Crusher Jutsu - A powerful technique that allows a user to summon a tsunami of cascading earthen walls that rise up and recede into the ground at varying intervals that allows the technique to block incoming attacks effectively without losing momentum. It also adds a concussive effect to a target that it hits as the tail end of the technique will still be traveling to the target when the front of the technique has already landed.
5.) Chidori - The Chidori is a high concentration of lightning chakra around the user's hand. To perform, the user first gathers lightning to their hand; the high concentration of electricity produces a sound reminiscent of many birds chirping, hence the name. Once the chakra is gathered, users charge at their target and thrust the Chidori into them, piercing them and typically causing fatal damage. Despite the sound it makes, the rapid speed at which it's used makes it useful for assassinations.
6.) Secret Technique: Wind Style: Silver Wind Jutsu - Fū's signature Wind Style technique that she favors in most tactical situations. Fū unleashes consecutive gusts of wind from her wings that are filled with her scaled powder dying the chakra laced wind a glittering silver color hence its name. Once unleashed a blinding wall of wind slams into the opponent who is blinded by the luminous quality of Fū's scaled power.
7.) Phoenix Fire: Heat Wave - A magic attack that Iris invented during the heat of battle. This technique rapidly heats up the atmosphere around Iris to the boiling point. At full strength, the heat could be comparable to standing on the surface of the sun. The heat is so much that any organic matter around Iris will evaporate almost instantly and inorganic materials will begin to melt after a short amount of exposure to this technique. Iris herself is left completely unharmed by the intense heat but any other person around her would die if they didn't flee in time.
8.) Phoenix Interceptor Style: Fire Lash - A simple technique that Iris develops that allows her to create a fire whip in her hands that she can use that has the same dexterity a normal physical whip would have. The upside to this technique being she can severely burn any target she attacks with this lengthy whip.
9.) Black Magic: Night Shade - This technique is a very peculiar attack that Chaos can use that directly affects a person's body by damaging a victim's body based on the amount of energy they contain. Chaos fires a black or dark crimson beam which travels similar to lightning; outlined in red, blue, or purple from either her hands or wings at the intended target. Chaos can also use this ability in an omni-directional wave. Chaos's body is surrounded by a purplish aura that dyes her actual body a pale purple color. She then releases multiple crimson rings from her body at the target. When the rings hit the opponent, their body becomes surrounded in a pale purple like aura. The technique works by poisoning a person's energy reserves and causing it to shock the person's body from the inside out like a taser. If the victim has a small pool of energy within their body, then they will barely be affected by this attack. On the other hand, if the victim is a powerful being with large reserves of energy then their very own power will inflict pain on them. It will have the same sensation of being burned or electrocuted from the inside out.
10.) Body Flicker - A high speed ninja technique that allows the user to travel at high speeds in microburst. Usually the technique is accompanied by a special effect that masks the movement of the user.
11.) Sand Tsunami - A powerful technique exclusive to Gaara that allows him to flood an area with his chakra enhanced sand that he often uses to crush opponents. The attack is one dimensional in the aspect that if can only be used to rush and overwhelm targets. For more variety Gaara would have to expend more chakra to manipulate small individual tendrils of sand to pull off more complex tactics.
12.) Acceleration - Accelerating Turn works by storing Kinetic energy in one's own body, reinforced by their own internal energy (Chakra, Yōki, etc.), and then releasing that kinetic energy through an opening in the shielding their internal energy is creating at the bottom of their feet allowing the user to reach and utilize explosive high-speed movements.
Author's Note (A/N): So how was that? This chapter is pretty action packed and a fun read through. Sasuke, Fū, and Karin have their hands full trying reach Gaara before he gets back to his base but ultimately they fail which leads to their current position which isn't good by any measure.
Naruto and the group get into an interesting argument lead by Naruto who doesn't want his daughters to kill people. He's well verse and experienced in killing others and the way it makes him feel is an emotion he doesn't want his children to feel. This just presents itself as another instance where Naruto battles with his morals and duties as a father at such a young age. He's obviously trying to take the high ground but this is going to be a topic that will again come up in the future even if it was resolved here. Seeing his resolve Chaos responds to this in a somewhat worrying way as her instability shines through yet again. She evolves before everyone's eyes and unlocks a new technique to allow her to comply with her father's wishes which we see she puts to go use in the Hidden Sand Base.
Iris also shows this compliance as she allows Sōkyoku to take the wheel for a while. The ancient Goddess makes short work of many ninja in the base using a much more advanced and master level control over her abilities than what Iris is currently capable of doing which shows off the Phoenix's battle experience verses the 7 and a half year old Iris. Yet again the girls make a reverence to the future that Naruto has become used to by now. He knows he won't get an answer from them but these thoughts forever linger within his mind. Things come to a head with Naruto trying to convince Gaara to surrender but the unstable host goes on the attack. This skirmish is interrupted by Aria showing up who Gaara immediately recognizes which brings the truth of what happened over the one month break to light.
It's quite obvious that Naruto isn't happy about this based on the way he reacts and snaps at the three responsible. Thoughts of helping Gaara have temporarily left Naruto's mind as his hidden temper and uncontrollable rage has taken over in light of this new development. WIth a horde of demons being summoned in the background the others in the Hidden Leaf group have their work cut out for them big time.
