AN: Hi everyone! First I would love to thank my best friend and lover (I'm kidding about the lover part ;D) umbrella0326! Without him this would NOT be up so soon. Thank you!
With that being said, I took over the ending and its not beta'd BUT I DID TRY. If it seems kinda weird that's why. I TRIED catching my mistakes. Please bear with me.
Also this was getting WAY TOO long so I decided to expand Dave's storyline to next chapter. I hope no one minds this. There will be a surprise next chapter so you will have that to look forward to. ;)
Ok, that's all. I won't spoil anymore. Please review, be kind. If you have questions, let me know.
Have a great day!-ILOVESMESOMEGLEEX3
Chapter 26
"Hi... Sorry to bother you but... I didn't know who else to call…" Dave hesitantly said through his phone. His heart was in his stomach while he paced around his bedroom room. He'd already bitten down most of his fingernails down to the quick and he couldn't believe what he'd just done moments ago. He HAD to call ANYONE willing to listen to him. So he dialed the first person he could think of at such short notice.
"Whoa... Dave? Is that you? What's wrong? How did you get my number?" Blaine Anderson asked. Of course, he was distracted. He prepared to go out with Kurt to The Sound of Music performance at Encore Theatre. He even had what Lima called "box seats" and was looking forward to an evening of trying to solve a problem like Maria. They even previously watched the movie – twice. Blaine was just about to leave to pick up Kurt when Dave called. However, he didn't know it was David Karofsky of all people and it was a bit of a shock to receive a call from him. After all, it was an unknown number but Blaine took a chance and picked up his phone anyway. He was VERY surprised it was Dave.
They weren't exactly friends but Dave was the father of Sebastian's baby. And Sebastian was living with him currently so he decided to make nice with Dave and talk to him because he sounded REALLY distressed.
"Finn gave it to me." Dave quickly said. "I would've talked to him but he doesn't know about me... And Sebastian is staying with you so I figured..." Dave held back tears. He put his cellphone at his side and pinched his eyes. He WOULD NOT cry. The previous events of what occurred downstairs were REALLY getting to him. Not to mention the entire truth about his life. And Sebastian. And Sebastian…
He needed a moment to calm down.
He took a deep breath.
And then another…
THAT'S when he realized Blaine was still on the other line. Shit!, Dave thought.
"Sorry, you still there?" Dave cringed.
"Yeees." Blaine answered. Again, there was that weird silence and it was killing Dave, so he spoke to break the tension.
"I'm just glad Finn is too dense to ask any questions." Dave tried to joke but it didn't land. Blaine awkwardly chuckled.
"SO, yeah... Sorry. The reason I called is because..." Dave tried to speak further but was interrupted by Blaine.
"Dave, could you hold on to that thought? Kurt is calling me on the other line- probably to remind me that I'm late for our night out together. We're seeing The Sound of Music Play at Encore Theatre in a bit. Isn't that fun?" Blaine giggled like a little school girl.
"Sounds like a bitchin' time." Dave couldn't have rolled his eyes harder. Dave never got into musicals and he NEVER would. They just weren't his thing, although the Rocky Horror Picture Show was…interesting, to say the least.
Blaine giggled and before Dave could say anything else he was put on hold.
"You gotta be kidding me…" Dave whispered. He thought about hanging up and the more he thought about it sounded more like a good idea. But something told him not to. He patiently waited until Blaine came back. He focused on his model airplanes hanging on his ceiling. The AC was making them move backwards and forwards and side to side kind of like a rollercoaster.
He stared at the dangling reminders of his childhood as they fluttered uselessly in the artificial breeze. No matter what he did he had no sense of direction. It felt like he was being pulled in ALL different directions and he didn't know what to do or how to stay still. He was TOTALLY lost and confused, like boys on a stranded island.
Dave then thought of his dad. His dad gave him those planes for his tenth birthday. Back then Dave was SUPER into pilots and planes and wanted to be one when he grew up. He even considered getting his helicopter's license and envisioned one day flying missions that actually saved people, like LifeFlight. He BEGGED his dad to buy him those planes and Paul gave in. Paul didn't care about the expense, which was considerable. He did it because he loved his son and Dave appreciated that.
Those were simpler days when life wasn't full confusion, secrets, complications and hiding.
He was beginning to feel sick so he took his attention away from the planes and back to his breathing exercises. It seemed like Dave was waiting forever until Blaine FINALLY came back on the other line.
"I apologize for that Dave" Blaine said, a little rushed. "It was Kurt. We are leaving in a bit but I got time for you. What's up?"
Dave could practically hear Blaine smiling through the phone and that made him smile and cheer up a bit.
And all that did was send Dave into an emotional tailspin, like an out-of-control airplane. He should be the one doing things he enjoyed – football, video games, hell even calculus. But no. Instead, David Alan Karofsky was dealing with some very serious issues and the Sound of Music could wait.
Hopefully.
"Well, here's the thing Blaine." Dave began. Quite suddenly, he didn't know what to say. And what could he say? Meanwhile, Blaine sat silently and patiently on the other end of the cellphone.
"Yes?" Blaine finally asked. He fiddled with the hem of his Dolce & Gobbana shirt that Kurt found online. He liked it a lot. When Dave didn't say anything, he began humming Do-Re-Mi. Dave stifled a frustrated growl.
"I came out to my dad and told him I might be a father soon." When they say that silence is deafening, they don't take into account why. Well, this revelation completely stunned both guys and not even a breath could be heard. Dave sat there, unwilling and unable to formulate any further words. Finally, a very surprised Blaine could be heard, shifting in his seat.
"You…you did?" Blaine asked.
"Yeah."
"I'm proud of you."
Dave did a double take. "Geez, Blaine, it's not like I cured cancer."
Blaine rolled his eyes. "That means that was a hard step for you. And you did it. I remember when I… Wait. You TOLD them about Sebastian?!"
Pause. "I told my dad."
"You told your dad?! Wow...How did he take the news?" Blaine scratched the back of his neck, suddenly so NERVOUS for Dave. This was HUGE and NOT to be taken lightly. This whole news could change his pregnant roommates life forever.
Speaking of his roomate, he could hear Sebastian laughing with Mickey in his room across the hall. Sebastian's stomach was getting BIGGER and BIGGER each day so it was becoming difficult to do normal things. Besides going to school Sebastian just stayed home most of his time with Mickey by his side. With Sebastian being four months pregnant, Mickey REFUSED to leave him alone. Blaine thought there was more of a reason why Mickey never really left Sebastian's side but he digressed and decided not to look further into it. Besides it wasn't his business. He wasn't like his boyfriend Kurt, he didn't like to pry or gossip. He LOVED Kurt but even he had to admit Kurt stuck his nose in others business WAY too much. He left well enough alone. Blaine realized he was only half listening to Dave and thought that was rude, he shook his head and turned his attention back to Dave.
"I didn't exactly get a reaction out of him. My mom came home from work before anything else was said or happened." Dave plopped himself on his comforter. His head hurt. A Tylenol wouldn't help his migraine. Nothing would.
"Oh shit... I mean, oh my..." Blaine said quickly.
Dave smiled at that. In the short time he knew the former Warbler he NEVER heard him curse. It was a nice change and totally different side to the usually seemingly refined Blaine Anderson.
It was great to see him as human instead of the robot he thought Blaine was. He felt bad that he TOTALLY missjudged him. Blaine was ok in his book.
"Yeah... I know. Dinner was even MORE awkward." Dave said as he fiddled with a loose string on his shirt.
"Oh really? How so?" Blaine checked his phone realizing he was short on time but he didn't want to be rude and mention it again.
Luckily a figure standing by Dave's door interrupted both boys.
"Dave, may I speak with you?" Paul Karofsky lightly knocked and entered when Dave gave the OK.
"Sure Dad. Blaine, yeah I gotta go... Thanks man for... Everything. Ok, have fun." Dave didn't even give Blaine a chance to really speak, he just hung up. Blaine was a little taken back the sudden click of the phone hanging up but he let it go. He realized Dave had a lot on his plate already. With that, Blaine checked his phone again and hauled ass out of the door realizing he and Kurt would miss a huge chunk of the play. He hoped Kurt wasn't too ticked off. But this was the sound of Music after all... Kurt would be furious. He was NOT loooking forward to the argument they were sure to have.
Meanwhile, Dave turned his attention to his dad who stood there not saying anything. Dave was worried when Paul wouldn't even look him in the eyes.
"Dad...?" Dave began but was interrupted.
"David, we NEED to talk about Sebastian." Paul said with the most serious expression that Dave has ever seen his dad have.
Dave gulped as Paul sat beside Dave on his bed while the two toy planes above swayed out of control above.
Nothing could prepare both men for this. NOTHING AT ALL.
