The pilot announced over the speakers the descent towards Chicago and both Matt and Gabby buckled their seatbelt before Gabby cuddled closer into Matt.

"I can't believe we're almost home."

"We'll see them soon." He could sense that his wife was having the blues a bit from being away from the kids for so long. "I miss them too." He admitted.

"I know and I know it's selfish but I also miss having you all to myself on that little piece of paradise."

"It doesn't mean we can't go back there someday."

"I know." She sighed, placing her head on his shoulder.

"But tomorrow is our last day off and I was thinking that maybe we can do some fun activity with the kids before we have to get back to real life."

"What do you have in mind?"

"How about we ask them?"

"Sounds perfect dad." She grinned up at him. She always loved the way he was with both his kids and hers and she was happy that they were officially a family now.

"I love how that sounds." He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips. It wasn't long after that that the plane landed and that they walked out and into the halls of O'Hare. Making it past customs was relatively quick considering the amount of people inside the terminal so they were glad when they got their luggage and all they had left to do was walk through the last two frosted sliding doors. Matt wrapped his arm around her shoulder and guided her through the throngs of people to the frosted sliding doors, the last obstacle between them and their family.

Christie and Kelly ushered all of the kids through the rotating doors of O'Hare. The airport was full of people and the last thing both adults wanted was to lose any of the kids in the mass. They made their way into the center of the terminal where the arrivals were being announced on the screen and found Matt and Gabby's flight, the monitor saying it was arrived.

"Are they going to be out soon?" Grace turned to look at her aunt.

"It might take a little bit of time. They have to go through customs first and sometimes that's long."

"You think they're going to like the sign?" Wondered Luis as he turned to look at Kelly.

"They are going to LOVE it!" He assured them.

"I can't wait to see them, I miss them." Emma lamented.

"It shouldn't be too long now." Kelly could see a lot of people were exiting the frosted glass doors, luggage in hand. He chuckled as the kids tried to strain their neck to try to see their parents. "Maybe we should be the next ones to get on a plane." He whispered suggestively to Christie as they waited, making her blush slightly.

"When's your next furlough?" She countered.

"We can talk about it when we're home."

"Looking forward to it.

"We can see them." Both adults were interrupted by all five kids jumping up and down with excitement.

"Let them come through the doors before you jump on them." Kelly couldn't help but laugh. The kids moved a bit closer in front of all the people, followed by both Kelly and Christie before they raised their sign high above their heads.

Kelly nodded his head towards Matt when they made eye contact as they came out the doors and they were greeted by all five kids with a colourful sign that said Welcome Home mom and dad. Kelly couldn't stop them though as they decided to drop the sign and start running towards their parents. Gabby quickly stopped and picked Valentina while she was attacked by both Grace and Filipe, Matt being jumped by Emma and Luis.

"We missed you." Emma whispered into Matt's neck, her arms wrapped tightly around him.

"We missed you guys too." He held onto her tightly. "How about we go home?" He looked at Gabby and smiled at her.

"Lead the way." Christie had picked up the discarded sign and after the kids climbed off their parents, she went to hug them both before she helped them with their bags and all nine of them walked out into the cold evening air. They all piled into both cars and headed back to the Casey's for some pizza that Gabby ordered from the passenger side of the car.

Walking into the house was chaotic to say the least, everyone trying to slip through the adults as they all stepped in but both Mat and Gabby were happy to be back in the chaos that was their little family. The pizza's arrived shortly after and everyone scattered around the kitchen and the breakfast bar to eat. All four adults took care of putting the kids into their pj's, forgoing a shower for the evening and placing them in front of a movie before they picked up the remains of the dinner.

"Thanks for taking care of them while we were away." Gabby was throwing the leftovers in the trash. "I hope they behaved."

"It's always a pleasure to look after them Gabby." Christie smiled at her.

"How did you survive the chaos this week Sev?" Matt chuckled as he piled the boxed on the corner of the counter.

"He was actually a real pro." Christie beamed as she looked at her boyfriend.

"I tried but I love those kids, they make it easy."

"Well you guys are officially off the hook after tonight." Matt chuckled as they finished cleaning the kitchen up.

"Are you sure you don't need help with anything else?" Christie asked as she came to stand next to Kelly, his arm going instinctively to her waist.

"Maybe a little help with the kids." Gabby poked her head around the wall of the living room. "All five of them are pooped."

"They were five balls of excited energy all day, no wondered they crashed so quickly. I'll give you a hand." Kelly offered as both he and Matt made it to the living room to scoop the kids up to their rooms.

"Thanks again Christie, it means the world to us." Gabby hugged her.

"Not a problem. I can see the two of you happy and it's all I've ever wanted for him."

"He makes me very happy." She smiled back at her. "So what about you and Kelly? Any wedding bells there?" She gave her a cheeky smile.

"We're not there yet but if he popped the question, I wouldn't say no." She blushed, thinking about her relationship with Kelly.

"Well I can see that you make him happy so when he does, don't be afraid to jump in with both feet." She watched as Kelly scooped Valentina delicately in his arms and made his way up the stairs.

"He's the best with Violet too, I have no idea how I got so lucky."

"You deserve all the happiness that you have Chris, you've earned it." She said before both guys came walking back in.

"All five kids are in bed so, this is our cue to leave you lovebirds alone." He extended his hand to Christie and she took it, letting him guide her to the door.

"Hope they let you sleep in tomorrow." Christie pulled Matt in for a hug first and then Gabby.

"Fingers crossed." Gabby chuckled before they left.

"Finally alone." Matt wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him.

"How about a beer and the couch?" She suggested.

"Let's go change into something more comfortable first." He suggested, leaning down for a kiss.

"That's a very dangerous suggestion Mr. Casey." She wrapper her arms around his neck.

"Let's see where it takes us." He raised her up by the waist and she wrapped her legs around his waist, their lips instantly attached together. Matt walked them up to the next floor and gently placed her down in front of their room.

"What are you doing?"

"Well, since I couldn't bring you over the threshold of the house, I thought I could walk you across our bedroom." He swiftly scooped her up bridal style and she wrapped her arms around his neck as a giggle escaped her lips.

"You are full of surprises."

"I hope to be able to surprise you forever Mrs. Casey." He kissed her as he walked through the doorframe, placing her gently on the sheets. They made out as Matt unbuttoned the shirt she was wearing and taking it off her shoulders. His hands traced her sides as he lowered her pants, kissing his way down as he did. "How about we just cuddle up here before we call it a night?" He finished removing her socks as she propped herself on her elbows.

"We've had a long flight, I think it's a good idea." She smiled down at him. She watched as he stood and walked towards her dresser, pulling some pj's out and helping her get dressed in them.

"You know I can dress myself right babe?" She chuckled as he lowered her cami on her caramel skin.

"I know but let me pamper you one last night before the chaos really starts tomorrow."

"I love you." She leaned up and pressed her lips to his, placing her hands at the hem of his shirt.

"I love you too." He let her peel the article of clothing off of him as they kissed and she flipped them so she could be on top this time, removing his pants torturously slow.

"So, any idea on tomorrow's activity?" She finally let him pull her to him.

"I was thinking either inside activity center or the movies."

"Inside activity center!" Gabby answered without missing a beat. "That way they'll be physically drained."

"It's settled then." He pulled her under him and started kissing her. "Now, it's us time." Even if they had spent the last week completely wrapped into each other, all he wanted to do was make love to his new bride.

As promised, they headed to an indoor activity center. Matt aloud the kids to make a target out of him in the canons and foamy balls pit while Gabby was in the more kid friendly zone with Valentina, laughing candidly at her husband while he played with the kids. Matt was more than happy when the day was over and that they were on their way home with sleeping kids in the back of the truck.

"Are you going to survive?" She questionned him as they walked Inside, the kids ahead of them.

"I'll be a walking bruise on shift tomorrow that's for sure but I wouldn't trade days like this for the world." He wrapped his arm around her waist and they headed Inside to enjoy the rest of their evening.

The following couple of weeks, they settled back into their routine of work for them and school for the kids. It was a seamless transition back for all of them which made everything else so much easier.

It was Tuesday when Matt was due back on shift that week and Gabby had a day off. In the chaos of the day, she and Matt hadn't kissed when he left and it was only when she returned from droping the kids off at school did she realized something was missing. She Grabbed her phone and dialed him up, hoping he wasn't on a call. Unfortunately for her, it went straight to voicemail so she simply left him a message. "I just realized that you left without a kiss and I suddenly miss you. Please be careful out there today baby, I love you." She hung up the phone and went upstairs for a much needed bath while she was home alone.

Upon walking into the bathroom, something cough her eye on the counter. "That's not possible." She whispered as she took her pack of pill in her hand. It was empty and suddenly she realised that she was late. She counted the days and the empty pack and her head started spinning. She couldn't be pregnant, it wasn't possible. she splashed some water on her face and did the next logical thing. She Grabbed her keys and made it to the closest drugstore.

Matt walked through 51 and looked at his closed phone, cursing Under his breath. His phone was off and when he turned it on, he noticed he not only had a missed call from Gabby but also a voicemail. As he listened to it, her voice was drowned out by the overhead paging system calling them to a factory incident. He slipped his phone back in his pocket before turning on his feet and running back towards the rigs. The drive was long but all his mind gave him was Gabby's voice saying be careful. He looked straight ahead and breathed in and out a few times before they made it to their destination. He hopped down of 81 and started giving his orders. The accident was in one of the back rooms so they followed the supervisor where the worker has an arm jammed in one of the rotating belts, about twenty feet in the air.

"Alright Cruz, you're with me." He knew he needed Squad's assist on this one so the three of them climbed one at a time, Cruz climbing from the other side. Their space was limited and as they made it tonthe worker, he had already started going into shock, his behaviour starting to be erratic. "My name is Matt Casey, I'm with the Chicago Fire Department. Try to stay calm, we're going to get you right out of there." He looked at Cruz and nodded before they went to work. The first part was easy but as they removed the top of the part the man was stuck in, he started acting even more panicked.

"You've gotta stay calm sir." Cruz said from behind him as he tried to secure the man just as Matt removed the man's arm, he stood quickly and lost his balance, grabbing Matt's coat as he did.

"MATTTT!" Cruz yelled as time stood still.

Gabby drove back home with a white paper bag in hand. Her hands were shaking on the wheel as she drove through the streets and back to her house. Never in a million years did she thing this could happen. She turned the ignition off the car and took a few deep breaths before stepping back in the warm September air and back into the house. She emptied the contents of the bag, all four of them to be precise and went about her business. She set her timer and started pacing, her thumb lodged between her teeth, biting her nail. Her mind brought her back to the night Matt had brought up the subject.

They were sitting in the couch, their legs propped up on the table, all five kids asleep as a movie played in the background. "This is perfect isn't it?" She whispered, tucked into Matt's side.

"Perfect." He kissed her hair and looked at all five kids asleep on the ground.

"Matt?" She looked up to him.

"Yeah babe?"

"Did you ever have thoughts of having another baby one day?"

"For a long time I thought I'd be a single dad with two girls. I never thought I'd find the perfect girl and that the perfect girl would come with three beautiful kids that I would think of my own. So I haven't thought about it past what we have." He told her honestly.

"Sometimes I think about it, a son just like you, or another little girl." She dreamed out loud.

The sound on her timer pulled her out of her memory. She looked at all four pregnancy test on the bathroom counter and took a deep breath, taking the first one in her hands, keeping her eyes closed. She opened her eyes at the sound of her phone ringing and she knew that the unknown ID was from the hospital. "Hello?" She said into the phone. "Yes, this is her." She turned the test around as her she dropped the phone to the ground along with the pregnancy test, her world shattering in pieces.
