"So how was the special training?" Mina asked Tsuyu and Uraraka, as they were the two girls in 1-A that chose a different option than a pro-hero internship. She, like the rest of the class, was wondering how it had gone.
Tsuyu smiled. "It was really nice, I've learned much better control with Mr. Piccolo's guidance."
"Ugh, control of what?" Mina groaned as the groups of students who had taken the invitations from the special internship offers were talking fairly energetically with each other. But they never outright said what the deal was, it was like they just all implicitly knew what was said.
"You'll probably find out today, Dende talked with the principal and they're going to come to an agreement on getting some special tutors to make sure no one else falls behind," Tsuyu said as she looked over to Uraraka. "How were your lessons with Master Roshi?"
"I've never felt so powerful in my life," Uraraka said as she sent out a quick burst of punches, before taking a deep breath and bringing up her power level. "A world I've never knew has been opened up to me and I want more."
Meanwhile the guys had grouped up at Todoroki's desk. "Are you serious? That's insane, and I thought surviving in the Diablo Desert for a week was tough, but gravity training?"
"My time with Vegeta was the most difficult training I've ever experienced. Nothing in my life prepared me for that." Todoroki admitted as he was pushed to his limits every moment when they were training. "However, I recognize his strength and the effectiveness of his methods."
Mineta nodded. "I learned so much in my time with Krillin and Eighteen." After Krillin finished up the training for the day, Eighteen would take Mineta around to get used to talking to girls, it took slapping him upside the head a few times to get him to not act like a pervert, but he caught on and even managed to just talk about a movie at a cafe with some other teenaged girls and not once slobbered over them.
"I have questions about our classmate though," Shoji folded his arms in quiet contemplation. "From what Tien and Chiaotzu had told me, he's very different and we've barely scratched the surface.
"Actually yeah," Kirishima blinked. "Hey anyone seen Gohan?" he asked the room.
"No?" Momo responded. "That's unlike him, he's going to be late at this point."
"Hmm, I think I can sense him," Tsuyu closed her eyes as she started looking for absurdly high power levels. "Yup, that's him alright," she nodded, her senses had been assaulted by a wave of power from her classmate. "I think he's doing laps." She could feel his power getting closer, then farther away.
"Alright class," Aizawa addressed as he entered the classroom. "We're going to see how effective your internships were, so All Might booked one of the test sites, so suit up and get on out there." He instructed as he needed his students out so that he and the other teachers could have a discussion with Gohan's friends about hiring them to help with getting every year of hero students started on their ki training.
"Alright heroes," All Might smiled down at the thirty-nine students. "Missing one, but that's fine." Noticing that Gohan was not present for this joint exercise. "We're going to do a special event, it won't take up too much time for the lesson, then the Wild Wild Pussycats will join me after."
Walking up and down the line of students from both of the hero classes. "The purpose of this event is rescue oriented, while many of you have received training in combat, and that's important for you to be able to defeat and subdue villains." As many of the students nodded in understanding. "Something that is just as important, is getting to where you are needed to be."
"I noticed during the incident in Hosu, some of you were capable of responding very quickly," All Might acknowledged the efforts of those who stopped the nomus from destroying the city. "So we'll see how good you are at getting to where you need to without big explosions guiding you."
"Now I'm going to 'get trapped' and you'll have to get to me so I can be rescued," All Might said as he pulled out a megaphone. "Let's see two from each class in teams of four, so that you have people to race against." As he started moving kids around into lines.
"And you want to pay us to teach?" Krillin scratched his head. "I don't know. That's a little strange," as for him and his friends they've never really been compensated for doing this, at most they've taken jobs as security for Bulma's dad sporadically over the years when he was worried about break ins and such.
"I understand that most of you are not currently employed," Nezu placed his paws on the table. "And for those of you who do accept, the time it would take to train this many students, would severely hinder your careers and personal time."
"Ehh, I'm getting tired of playing baseball anyway," Yamcha shrugged. "Wouldn't be such a bad idea to get back into training properly."
"About time," Tien rolled his three eyes. "Ever since Gero put a hole in your chest, you've been such a little bitch."
"Hey, I'm just tired of getting killed," Yamcha protested his friend's remarks.
"Pfft, I've died twice and I'm still training," Krillin slugged his friend in the arm as he chuckled. "Ehh, if it pays better than being a beat cop, I'm in. It'll help me save up for a down payment on a house."
"We have highly competitive pay for this career path." Nezu nodded as he wanted to make sure he had the best teachers and that required they get paid fairly.
"Does it matter that none of us have licenses to teach, or for me and Vegeta, who aren't even citizens or have any sort of records?" Piccolo asked as that was a detail that should be addressed.
"Normally yes, but since you will be listed as special contractors, then I am able to circumvent many of the hiring rules and regulations, especially because there simply are no other people who understand ki as well as you all do, that no one would be able to contradict the methods." Nezu smirked as he had thought out all the possible roadblocks and found ways around them. And should he have found one that was insurmountable, he would simply call the Prime Minister and explain what he was planning to do and that would work to push the needed paperwork through.
"I won't be apart in training a bunch of weaklings," Vegeta stood up from his chair. "I have other goals to achieve," leaving the room of teachers to go back to the gravity chamber.
Many of the teachers sighed in relief after the door shut. "I'm not sure how many students could tolerate Vegeta's 'personality'." Ms. Midnight snickered once she was sure the saiyan prince couldn't hear her.
"Hehe yeah, I'm surprised we didn't need to give the kid a senzu bean after Vegeta was done with him," Yamcha laughed along with the teacher.
"We'll just need to figure out how to divide you all up, since there are six hero courses and six of you," Present Mic tapped a pencil on some paper as he tried to think who would be best suited to each course.
"Since I don't do as much training as anyone else, so I'd probably be best for the younger students." Chiaotzu spoke up. "I think I should take Gohan's class, that way he can help me if I need it."
"That's not a bad idea," Krillin nodded. "I'll take the other first year class then. I probably won't be as intense as the others."
"We're not that bad," Tien scoffed at how Krillin thought they would be too rough on the teens.
"Please I've seen you guys train. The only reason Gohan is still alive after Piccolo kidnapped him is because he's so damn hard to kill," Krillin denied. "He's the only one in our group who hasn't died yet."
"Wait, you've all died?" Thirteen commented.
"Yup, Piccolo's dad got Master Roshi, Krillin and myself," Chiaotzu nodded.
"Then Vegeta's subordinate killed the four of us," Tien pointed around the room to those Nappa had slain.
"Frieza got Vegeta and me on Namek," Krillin nodded. "Blew me right the fuck up."
"Oh and we can't forget that Goku's died twice," Yamcha pointed out. "Raditz and Cell."
"Well if we're talking specifics, I was the one who killed Goku then, took both him and Raditz out." Piccolo interjected.
"Does Trunks count?" Tien asked as he wondered where that fit into the discussion. "Cell got him too."
"Nah, that's future Trunks, if we start counting time travelers then everyone has an additional death from the Androids," Krillin dismissed. "And we made sure that didn't happen."
"Fair enough," Tien shrugged. "I'll take a second year class."
"Same," Yamcha agreed. "We'll give them tougher training."
"Then that just leaves you and me with the oldest," Master Roshi chuckled. "We'll really get them to master their ki."
"We do have almost a thousand years of experience between the two of us." Piccolo concurred that being the most optimal solution to who should teach the children.
"Great, now, each of the teachers will go and introduce you to your classes, that way they can start to get to know you all." Nezu clapped his hands, happy that the fighters had sorted themselves out in an agreeable and timely fashion. "Hopefully we'll have a gravity chamber of our own operational in a few weeks, Mrs. Briefs was kind enough to send us some blueprints and the Support Course has been going wild working on it."
"Hatsume Mei is especially excited and currently leading the project, since she was at Capsule Corp and saw much of the design," Power Loader added on.
"That's going to be a great help later on," Yamcha happily said as getting access to a gravity chamber would be a useful tool, and the reason they weren't all doing it was because they'd have to deal with Vegeta.
"We'll have it capable of going to a few hundred times, but anything higher than ten times will be password locked," Power Loaded agreed. "Of course you all and Gohan will have that password since I'm sure you could handle the higher stresses."
"Yeah, I bet Gohan could easily go five hundred times at his full power," Krillin chuckled as he realized how insane that notion was. "By the way, he's still doing laps around the planet."
"That's what he's doing?" Midnight exclaimed as she had been trying to figure out why he seemed to be flying around.
"Yeah, what's up with that, he spiked his power level up over the week and it's not dropped since then?" Piccolo inquired.
"He's trying to master his Ascended form," Aizawa rubbed his shoulder, it was still a little sore from sparring with the kid. "We're helping him to better control himself, so he doesn't suffocate people just by being around them."
"And you're doing that how?" Yamcha wondered how these teachers were attempting to do that.
"Fighting him," Hound Dog sighed as it had been an exhausting week.
Whistling loudly, Master Roshi blinked his eyes slowly. "Well you are certainly a brave lot."
"Thank you, it's really tough," Kan slumped in his seat, he was lucky that Recovery Girl had learned to use the healing techniques Dende taught her or else they'd all be walking bruises. "He's basically unstoppable."
"Yeah, real glad he's on our side," Krillin chuckled. "I'd hate to be the next guy to piss him off." Standing up out of his chair, he stretched before rubbing his hands together. "Well Chiaotzu, let's go find our students, no sense in wasting time."
"Mhm," Chiaotzu agreed as he floated behind Krillin with the first year teachers leading them to where the class was being held.
"Hey everyone," Pixie-Bob happily greeted the hero classes after their race. The thirty-nine students were standing around in the gym, but some were looking pretty irritated. "Why the long faces?" she asked since every other time the students had been excited to get to work on whatever fun training they had come up with.
"Why is it that almost everyone here can fly now?" Kaminari complained, "What the hell happened in their internships?"
"That will be explained to all of you today," All Might said proudly as he could see the other instructors headed their way.
The ground shook as an object impacted creating a small crater. "Whoops, sorry about that, still need to work on slowing down at those speeds." Gohan apologized as he walked up to his classmates, electricity crackling around his body, his golden hair spiky and tall.
"Glad you joined us," All Might smiled. "How was your warm up?"
"One hundred laps around the planet and I still have too much energy," Gohan shook his head. "Is Vegeta still here, I'll spar with him for a while?"
"Sadly no, Vegeta will not be one of the instructors in teaching the classes ki." Aizawa answered with barely restrained glee as his group entered the gym.
"Master Krillin," Mineta excitedly said upon seeing the short man he'd spent a week with.
"Sensei Chiaotzu," Shoji bowed when he saw the smaller of his teachers float into the room along with the others.
"Hey hey," Krillin high-fived Mineta before shielding his eyes. "Jeez Gohan, tone it down," he teased the young saiyan for still being in his super saiyan form.
"Sorry," Gohan said bashfully as he fell out of his ascended form and back to base. "Better?"
"Yeah, now that you aren't a walking bug zapper, we can tell the rest of the students what is going on." Chiaotzu chuckled at his joke.
"Listen up, now for my class that got a unique internship here at the school, this is Krillin, he will be assisting during your hero course lessons, he is a master martial artist and is one of the strongest humans on the planet." Sekijro introduced the bald monk to his students who, having spent time with Gohan, understood this was not a joke.
"Likewise, this person is Chiaotzu, he will help you all do the same thing." Aizawa informed his class. "These people are some of the most dedicated fighters and the feats they have accomplished are to be respected." He sent a look over his students that threatened punishment if they did not take this seriously.
"Yes Sensei!" most of the 1-A class responded to their teacher's order.
However one student pushed forward. "What the hell is going on!" Videl shouted loudly as she was fed up with everything that was going on. "Today has been nonsense, students flying, everyone shooting energy beams, is this some joke or something."
Gohan exhaled as he stepped forward. "I got this, it'll probably be easier coming from me." He figured he should be the one to break the news to the girl about the lies her father had been spreading.
"You sure Gohan, I mean, she might not believe you?" Krillin scratched his head.
With a shrug Gohan grabbed Videl's arms and pinned them against her sides. "Maybe, but I know that she'll listen to her father."
"Hey let me go." Videl struggled to break the firm grip.
"Sorry, it's for your own good." Gohan said as Chiaotzu opened the door telekinetically. "I'll be back in a few." Rocketing out of the building all the while Videl was screaming for people to help her.
"Pfft, what a baby, I didn't scream when Gohan abducted me," Tsuyu scoffed with a roll of her eyes.
"Wait what?" Mina tilted her head in confusion.
"So anyway, for right now, those of you who don't know how to harness your ki, please join me over here," Chiaotzu instructed.
"For those of you who can, let's get you sparring," Krillin clapped his hands. "When Gohan comes back he'll start working with you all." he said to the teachers who just nodded and started to chat among themselves.
Gohan was rocketing through the sky faster than sound, which had the benefit of no one being able to see or hear him, however the downside was that Videl was screaming and he could definitely hear her. "Do you mind?" Gohan said as they passed the city limits and were on their way towards Satan City.
"Put me down!" Videl demanded as her pigtails flapped in the wind.
"We are half a mile up but sure if you want me to," Gohan said flatly as Videl looked down at the ground far below them and gripped Gohan tighter. "Didn't think so."
It didn't take long for them to get to the gaudy mansion that Mr. Satan had moved into after the Cell Games. Once his feet were on the ground he released his hold on Videl who jumped away from him. "When I tell my father about this, you're going to be in so much trouble Midoriya," she warned as she ran inside her house to get her father.
Gohan followed behind her with a shrug knowing what room she had run off to, even if he couldn't sense energy he could hear Videl's angry voice shouting at her father.
"So you decide to roughhouse with my daughter?" Hercule Satan, the number one hero in the world said as he stomped up to Gohan.
"No Hercule, I came here so you can tell your daughter the truth about what happened at the Cell Games," Gohan folded his arms across his chest and stared down the bigger man.
"Pfft, what are you… I don't know what yer talkin' about," Hercule denied as he looked around nervously.
"Let me jog your memory then," Gohan smirked as he flared out his energy causing his hair to turn golden as he changed into his super saiyan form. "Does this look familiar, a young boy, with golden hair against that giant green bug?"
Hercule took a step back as he easily remembered the child who had really battled against Cell. "You… bu-but… you left after he," taking a frightened gulp as he continued to back away from the child with the piercing stare.
"Hercule I don't care that you got fame for what I did, I don't care about the money you got from it," Gohan said as he shook his head and advanced on the scared human. "But you filled your daughter's head with lies and now that's interfering in her education to become a hero, so you," jabbing his finger into the man's chest hard enough to send him sprawling down the hallway. "Are going to tell her what really happened all those years ago. So that she can learn how to use her ki because otherwise she's not just going to fall behind, she'll hinder other people's learning and that's not something I can abide by."
"Yes sir," Hercule meekly said as he got up off his own floor and bowed to the child who was the reason for his massive fame and fortune.
Gohan smiled as he powered down to his base state and headed out the door. "See you whenever Videl," Gohan waved his goodbyes and headed back towards the school.
"So…?" Krillin said when he saw Gohan arrive back at the training room.
Gohan patted the bald monk on the shoulder. "He'll set her straight."
Chiaotzu sighed in relief. "That's good, it'd be such a pain to try and teach her if she's so combative to the idea of using ki." Since Chiaotzu was handling the 1-A class with Videl it would have been harder for him since he wasn't used to training others like the rest of the fighters were.
"Well, I should get to my own students," Gohan chuckled as he looked at the teachers. "Let's see what we're working with," Gohan smirked as the teachers shared a nervous look as they knew Gohan would put them through their paces.
After that super intense training, most of the students were exhausted as they changed out of their uniforms. "Jeez Gohan and you did all that stuff?" Kaminari winced as his body felt incredibly sore. He was wondering how Gohan managed to do all of that before coming to U.A. if these were some of his family friends.
Gohan shrugged. "Not really, I did stuff that was way harder. Benefit though I get stronger every time I almost die so that helped."
"Almost die?" Sato questioned as that couldn't have been such a common occurrence for him to notice.
"I'll have to tell you about Namek one day," Gohan chuckled about how much stronger he got on the alien planet and how many times he nearly died to do it.
"What the fuck is Namek?!" Katsuki shouted from the otherside of the lockers before they heard Mineta gasp.
"What's up?" Tokoyami asked as he came over to the shorter boy.
"A hole, a Shawshank hole, guys… do you know what's on the other side of this wall?" Mineta asked as he looked at the small hole in the wall. "The girls locker room, it must have been made by our senpais."
"Mineta!" Iida shouted as he hurried over. "Don't you even think about-" he started to scold as he didn't want his classmate to perv on the ladies in the other room, but he stopped when Mineta pounded his hand on the wall.
"Hey, there's a hole in the wall on our side," Mineta said loudly enough so that the girls could hear him. "You should either patch it up or tell Cementoss or something so people don't look at you when you're changing."
"Oh-okay thanks," a nervous voice called out from the other room.
"He didn't look?" Aoyama said in disbelief as he, like the rest of the class, had assumed Mineta was too perverted to not take advantage of this little benefit.
"Wow, spending time with Krillin must have been really good for you Mineta," Gohan said proudly as he noticed a significant change in the short teens behavior recently.
"Yup," Mineta said as he smiled at the positive reinforcement. "If I tried to peep on them, then they'd never consider me dateworthy and if they told the rest of the girls in the school, well…" he shrugged as he figured it was self-explanatory how that would affect his chances of getting a girlfriend in the future.
Gohan was surprised at how much his classmates had changed in such a short amount of time that he'd known them and this made him reflect on how much he'd grown as a person as well.
The training continued for another week before they were in class with Aizawa and he brought up that the midterms would be happening soon. So study groups formed after Momo offered to help those who were struggling.
But for Gohan he got some different information. "So that was the shit you tried to tell me without telling me," Bakugou said as the day wrapped up. "You don't actually have a quirk and it was all ki?" forming a ball of light in his hands as he'd taken an almost Vegeta-like training mentality to getting stronger and was rapidly becoming one of the better ki users in 1-A.
Gohan simply nodded at the accusation. "Yup, don't have a quirk, just really really good with ki."
"So fight me now!" Bakugou demanded as his own aura flared. "I need to see the limits of this stuff and you're the perfect person to test it out on."
Gohan looked to Aizawa who'd been resting under his desk. "It's up to you, you have the keys to the training facility." Aizawa said with a shrug as he didn't particularly care if someone other than him wanted to get worked over by the half-saiyan.
"Okay," Gohan turned back to Bakugou. "I'll spar with you. Show you just how far you have to go."
"Good," Katsuki said as he stomped out of the room followed by Gohan.
Tsuyu hopped out of her desk and quickly hurried to catch up. "Where are you going?" Todoroki asked why the frog girl was in such a rush to get out of the classroom.
"I'm not going to miss Bakugou getting his ass handed to him," Tsuyu said over her shoulder as the door shut behind her.
With a shrug other students followed Tsuyu's idea because for some of them it was just something to do and for others it would give them more insight to why Gohan didn't have to train with them and seemed to be training the teachers instead.
"Look at the audience here to witness my victory," Bakugou sneered as he looked at their classmates who stood on the sidelines.
"They'll witness something, that's for sure," Gohan rolled his eyes before he effortlessly dodged out of the way of Katsuki's attack. This continued on for another minute as Gohan put almost no effort in avoiding the blonde's assault.
Stopping to draw his breath, Katsuki looked at how Gohan seemed without a care. "You… fucker, this is a fight!" Katsuki shouted at how annoyed he was with his opponent.
"Fine," Gohan sighed as he widened his stance. "You wanted to see my power, so fine, here it is." With a mighty roar, the ground began to shake and Gohan exploded out his ki as he ascended for Katsuki's benefit. "This is the gap between us," Gohan said as he casually approached Katsuki who looked terrified now that he could sense the difference in strength. "I got this power from the blood, sweat and death of people I know and love. You haven't even begun to learn what power is," Gohan said before a single swipe sent Katsuki rocketing across the room and smacking the wall hard enough to knock him out.
His hair turned to black as he powered down and Gohan wrapped his hands around the back of his head. "That was fun," He chuckled as he faced the rest of his classmates.
Tsuyu just shook her head. "Gohan, you have no chill when it comes to fighting," the frog girl said as she hadn't expected anything less when Gohan was challenged to a fight by Katsuki.
Gohan looked at the unconscious body of his classmate and smiled. "No, I guess I don't."
"Okay so the plan is for the teachers to battle the students two on one." Kan said as he and the rest of the staff looked over the leaflet of papers for what they had ready for the mid term. "So who gets to fight Gohan?" Kan asked, deciding to not ignore the elephant in the room.
"Not it," everyone said in unison before they all began to share a laugh.
"On a more serious note," Nezu said with a smirk at how no one wanted to be the one to be made to fight Gohan, they got enough of that during the internship week. "I will contact Mrs. Briefs and see if her husband will come by for Gohan to battle with. We might not have a school at the end of the day but at least we can maintain we didn't show favoritism." Nezu hoped that they'd still have a school because explaining that Gohan and Vegeta leveled the compound just for a spar would be an awkward conversation.
But finally the day of the exams was upon them. After finishing the written part of the exam the 1-A students found themselves in uniform across from their teachers. "We are here to test you all on what you learned here at U.A. and to do that we're going to have pairs of you battle against a teacher, these pairs have been predetermined and based on a multitude of factors," Nezu said as he stood on Aizawa's shoulders looking over the 1-A class.
"Okay," Gohan shrugged as he walked over to Vegeta. "Let's go, I hear the Gobi Desert's pretty abandoned this time of year," giving his suggestion on where they should go that wouldn't cause noticeable destruction.
"Fine by me Kakabrat," Vegeta shrugged as he rocketed off into the sky, followed by the half-saiyan brat.
Nezu took a deep breath as he composed himself as he hadn't even said who was supposed to be battling whom, but he guessed that in Gohan's case it would be pretty obvious.
"So Vegeta," Gohan said as he stretched before the fight started. "How are things going with Bulma?"
The saiyan prince shrugged. "It's going alright. We've done some more family oriented activities."
"That sounds nice," Gohan smiled as he was proud that Vegeta was becoming a better father and husband.
Vegeta popped his shoulders as he finished up his own stretches. "What about you though? Your mate, have you finally made her your woman?"
Gohan blushed as he understood what Vegeta was asking him. "No, we're… taking things slow. I'm not used to dating and she's well... We have a date planned for tonight to celebrate the midterm."
"Oh ho, confident that you're going to pass are you?" Vegeta smirked as he'd been told that by the rat-mouse-bear-thing that he was allowed to decide if Gohan had put in enough effort to count for his grade.
"You better believe it." Gohan readied himself as he already turned into his ascended state and launched himself at the saiyan prince.
"Hmm don't you think this is a little unbalanced?" Tsuyu commented to Tokoyami as they battled the numerous copies Ectoplasm put out, made even worse by him using the multiform technique to triple his normal maximum number. The frog girl flipped out of the way of a swarm of her teacher and hopped along the upper levels of the building they were in.
"What do you mean?" Tokoyami asked his own question as he wondered what his companion meant.
"Well, beside that we've all become much stronger over these past few weeks," Tsuyu said as she blew away a few copies of her teacher with a few ki blasts. "It feels like a lot of what we've learned hasn't actually been about being heroes and instead is just making us learn to use our ki better and that's nice and all, but it's not what I signed up to U.A. for."
"I can understand that," Tokoyami nodded as he got what she was saying. "When we joined, I too believed that much of the learning would be spent on rescue tactics, how to work with teams and training my quirk but now a lot of this is just physical and martial arts training."
"I'm going to bring that up with Aizawa." Tsuyu said as she rocketed past her teacher with her increased speed. "I don't mind learning how to use my ki better, but I think we lost any sense of a balanced education in the process."
As the day marched on and teams were put into battle with teachers which started concluding since they were only given a half an hour long time limit. Students were beginning to mill about in an area to await their results. It was a surprise to see who came out victorious against their teachers and who had failed. Even with their extra training in ki, some pairs still struggled and weren't always victorious.
"Man, I got so much stronger and I still couldn't pound my way through all those cement walls," Kirishima sighed as he and Sato had assumed that it would be enough to just make for a direct course towards Cementoss, but just as they had empowered their bodies with ki, the teacher had done the same to his quirk, making them far more resilient than cement normally would be.
"I can't believe Mineta managed to control his perviness enough to win," Sero complained as he'd not been able to do much in his own battle but the little guy had tied up Ms. Midnight and secured the win almost all on his own. "And he didn't even try to touch her inappropriately when he set her loose."
"We lost because Nezu outsmarted us," Kaminari sighed. "He even figured out ways to stop us from just flying out of the city we were in."
"It's not fair," Mina whined as she'd been so looking forward to the relaxing summer camp with all her friends that had been promised to those that passed the exam. "We had no chance because he already thought of everything we could do."
"I just wonder how Bakugou and Gohan are doing," Momo said as she was waiting to find out how those two tests were going.
"Well Bakugou volunteered, actually it was more like he demanded to fight All Might," Tsuyu hummed. "And if you sensed, you can tell that Vegeta and Gohan are still going at it from here," she said as finding those two power levels was incredibly easy.
Iida shivered slightly as he felt their power levels to see how things were going. "It's a little unnerving to think about how powerful those two are compared to well... everyone else on the planet... combined."
Meanwhile Videl was sitting quietly in the corner, her fight had gone well enough that she and her partner passed but after her discussion with her father that Gohan forced them to have, she was in a very despondent mood. 'It's frightening to think about how many times our species was almost wiped out in these last few years and only because of him and his friends that we're all alive. And he doesn't even care about fame or fortune, not like some people,' Videl sighed.
"I kind of understand what you're going through," Todoroki said as he sat down next to the daughter of the "Number One" hero in the world, he had seen her mood tank drastically over the last few days even if she put in the same amount of effort into her classes as she always did and it had taken him a while to catch onto why that was.
His comment and presence was enough to pull Videl out of her thoughts and she looked at the boy who she'd known for a few years because of her father's position in the hero rankings. Despite Todoroki not having been a very social person, she considered him one of her closer childhood friends. So him coming over and initiating a conversation without provocation was something he rarely did.
"My father was obsessed with beating All Might for years, but he never once made mention of your father and I had assumed that was because he believed it was impossible. But looking back on it, my dad was probably one of the few people who were in on the secret everyone was keeping." Todoroki looked at his hands. "I've done some thinking about my life and what I thought it was supposed to be, and I realized that… Gohan is a force of nature."
"It's hard to be mad at him for all the change he brings when he comes into your life. Now that I'm stronger than my father, I… I thought that I would finally show him how much I hated him. But, after the sports festival, when I came back from the internship with Vegeta, my dad was different."
Todoroki clenched his hands angrily. "He actually tried to be nice to me and my siblings. I don't know if it was just because Gohan and him fought, pfft, as if Gohan breaking my father's arm like a twig counts as a fight. He was holding so much back that he could have turned him into a smear on the wall with the barest effort."
"Everything in my life had been about power, my father craved it. He had me and my siblings for more power. But all this time real power, the power to save or destroy the world was just living peacefully until he decided to come to school one day."
"That power changes people and I think it does it for the better, I don't think I'll ever care for my father the way others do for theirs, but, I think now I'm closer to him since some of those barriers have come down. I also think that this might have been the best for you as well, because now your dad can be honest with you."
Videl looked at Todoroki in shock as he spat out his feelings and how he saw his family now that he understood more about the world. "My god," Videl said in awe. "I think that's the most you've ever said to anyone in a single sitting."
Todoroki raised an eyebrow questioningly at the girl he'd know for years at this point. "Really? That's your take away from that?" he said incredulously as Videl had seemingly missed the entire point of his words.
"No no, I get it. I just… you never talk and now it's like you're making up for lost time," Videl snorted out a laugh as she couldn't help herself in this situation. Eventually Todoroki lost his composure and began to laugh along with Ms. Satan.
While those two were sharing a moment, everyone was awaiting the result of the last student's test. Gohan vs. Vegeta. They could sense the incredible powers fluctuating as they battled until finally one dipped low. "So who do you think won?" Ms. Midnight asked as waited eagerly to see who would come out victorious.
Finally after what seemed like hours, but was really only a few more minutes. Gohan limped back into the tent, his arm bleeding heavily, his right eye swollen shut and his leg at an odd angle. But that wasn't the only thing to come in with him, carried over his shoulder was Vegeta, unconscious. He managed to get out a single laugh before he fell to the floor in a heap.
The cheers were loud as the teachers and students congratulated Gohan on his hard earned victory over the saiyan prince. "I could really use a senzu bean right about now," Gohan said as he lay on the ground. "God, Cell didn't work me over as hard as Vegeta did," he muttered as he felt someone finally take the other saiyan's body off of his. "Thank you," he said to whoever had done him that favor.
"We don't have any of those laying around. It would leave you out of commission for a day or so but I could heal you up if you wanted," Recovery Girl offered as a combination of her quirk and ki based healing techniques would get the young fighter in ship shape.
With a groan Gohan pushed himself up off the cool ground. "No, I got a…" grunting as he stretched. "Date with Tomoko tonight, and I can't miss that." He said, talking to himself as he looked over his battered body. "Just got to not put pressure on that cracked rib I guess," he said to himself as he could feel how much damage Vegeta had done to him in their fight.
"Young Son," All Might said as he pushed Gohan into a chair for a moment. "I'm sure that she'd understand if you cancelled."
Gohan shook his head. "Nah, especially not if Vegeta's paying the bill, we're going to a really nice place," he said with a smirk as he held up a shiny black credit card. "One night only he said, if I won. Dumb bastard actually thought I'd lose when giving Tomoko a wonderful evening was on the line," chuckling as he got amused looks from his teachers and classmate for his reasoning behind fighting so hard.
"Just make sure that she's careful not to worsen any of your injuries, if you two decide to roughhouse." Recovery Girl teased, causing Gohan's face to turn bright red.
"We, we, we are-aren't you know," Gohan coughed into his hand as he could hear the others start to snicker. He hurried out of his seat and ran towards the exit. "Well I need to go get cleaned up, see you all at the summer camp," shooting off into the sky before anyone else could get in their jabs and playful comments.
With a groan Vegeta awoke a moment or two later. "Cheapshotting little fuck!" he swore loudly as he spat out a gob of blood from his mouth before taking a seat in an open chair.
"Oh be careful Vegeta, I could almost hear some pride in your voice," All Might snickered even as the saiyan glared at him.
"Punk hit me with my own move," Vegeta grumbled as he'd expected the brat to go for his kamehameha, instead he switched at the last moment and fired a final flash that caught him off guard.
"So I take it he passed?" Nezu asked as he wanted to hear Vegeta's report on the exam.
"He went over the time," Vegeta answered. "But we all knew he'd never beat me in half an hour. I almost had him a couple of times when he let his guard down. He's gotten back most of his power that he lost, but he still lacks that killer instinct needed to know when to strike."
"That's a good thing though, right?" Jirou chuckled nervously. "I mean, he shouldn't be, you know killing people?" she looked around and could tell that the teachers and Vegeta weren't thinking the same thing.
"Something is going to make him snap one day," Vegeta sighed as he shook his head. "I thought it was when that blasted android died. But there's something else that he's been holding back. Kakarot snapped on Namek when Baldie died. When Cell killed my son I lost it and nearly cost us the entire planet." Recalling when Kakarot and himself had lost control and gave into blind rage.
"Even when fighting that bug he still maintained his composure enough to taunt him, to goad him on even further." Vegeta continued as he'd never seen the young half-saiyan completely lose it.
"And that's a good thing?" Aizawa questioned as he didn't know where Vegeta was going with his assessment of Gohan.
Vegeta shrugged. "He'll come out stronger for it, we saiyans always do, but..." the prince sighed heavily. "It's more dangerous now because of how strong he is. At least when Kakarot and myself snapped there was someone else there for us to take it out on that could take it. So unless some monster rears its head that is at least as strong as Cell was, he'll have nothing to unleash it on that would survive long enough for him to reign it in."
As Gohan and Tomoko flew through the starlit sky for their date, an evil schemed to disrupt the lives of everyone on the planet.
