Two days later...
Casey was waiting in the reception area, reading a magazine while Gabby was talking privately to the therapist, Dr. Parker. Both had shift today, but the Fire Department permitted absence for a medical appointment, in Matt's case he exchanged shifts with the second shift's lieutenant. It's Gabby's first appointment, Matt wants to be there for her, for a second she tried to dismiss him, and as she expected he didn't step down from his decision to go with her. For Matt it was a good thing that Gabby didn't try to cancel the appointment, however, he felt she was too nervous about opening up to a strange person. Gabby had already had the experience to talk to someone about her deep feelings other than Casey and her mother, that person being Chaplain Orlovsky, who she missed dearly. No one could replace him in Firehouse's heart, he had been a friend more than an employee of the Chicago Fire Department, all of them would say it.
Before agreeing to meet Dr. Parker, Christie spoke to Gabby on the phone, explaining how she knew the therapist, how he was necessary when she went through her divorce from Jim, and how to deal with Violet during the whole process. Dr. Parker had a huge role in her life at that time, and it might help Gabby if she gives it a chance, at least hear Dr. Parker, then she could make her own decision and go from there. It had been a long time since Gabby had spoken with Christie, she was happy her ex-sister-in-law was able to go past her own feelings towards how Matt and Gabby had ended things when she went to Puerto Rico. During their conversation, Christie took a few minutes to assure Gabby that she knew Matt was still in love with her albeit he was dating Brett, actually Christie never has never taken that relationship seriously, and she was glad they were trying again. For Matt's sister all that was important was Gabby seeing her as someone who was there for her as well, despite Matt and Gabby's problems, both had gone through so much pain during their marriage, and she was capable of being supportive to both.
Given Gabby's mental health, Matt suggested Gabby take a little time for herself, she was under so much stress and working non-stop, no one could blame her for taking a leave of absence from work. At first, she didn't take it too well because she didn't want to stay home doing nothing, at least that was how Gabby saw it, though Matt told her they could search for a few outside activities that could ease her mind, he just wanted to help not force her into doing anything... a few hours later their made amends, Gabby understood his point of view, and apologized for getting angry at him, saying her emotions were all over the place... Matt made sure she knew that he never was judging her, far from it if there is someone she could be herself it was with him, his love was unconditional, she could believe him, besides he had his share of blame on what had happened to her, he thought. That night she confessed her agreement with Cordova, he could try to listen to her and see where she was coming from, the reason behind her choice, the right to make her dream come true.
Even getting closer to each other in the last few days, their relationship had changed somehow, Matt felt Gabby distant sometimes,... it wasn't like she was trying to put distance between them, the acceptable explanation was the last events made a toll on her... the abuse of alcohol, hangovers, mourning Cordova... The days she had stayed at Matt's apartment most of the time she had been sleeping, he realized it was her way of escape from reality... her lack of appetite, Matt took it as a bad sign as well... He wished he could take all her pains and heartbreak... and see her smiling and happy, full of life again...
... while in the therapist's office...
"... We are humans, we have vulnerabilities, though a few of us are better at hiding their feelings and weaknesses,... they do it because some of them believe 'I must be strong for my husband, my son... my family', others would feel ashamed to show any sign of fragility, in other cases some people don't have time to take a breath, their way of dealing with their issues is to avoid talking or thinking..., so they just moved on until they have a breakdown, then their mental health little by little is affected... My point is when we don't take care of ourselves, later we felt the effects in other areas in our life... our relationships...", Dr. Parker explained to Gabby from his seat in the center of the room.
"... It'd be so easy if my problems didn't have impact on the people I love, you know... They have their own problems, I don't want to be a burden... for anyone, especially for Matt...", Gabby said, propping her face with her hand while down at a spot on the carpet under the doctor's seat.
"Tell me, at any point in their lives were you there to support them, those people you see as friends, at some point in their lives were you there to listen to them, or hug, or say a few words, to encourage them?" Dr. Parker uncrossed his legs.
"... You got me...", Gabby shook her head, "... I would do anything for them...", Gabby lifted her head to gazed at the therapist.
"I believe they would do the same for you, Gabby... it's okay to be cared for sometimes, to lean on someone who loves you... I'm not here to say how you should live your life, to invalidate your feelings, far from it... we start to build our relationship today, so together we are gonna learn how to get a balance in life, not getting stuck on the negative and forgetting the positive you have in your life, with the people you love the most, and love you back...", Dr. Parker smiled warmly at her.
Gabby wiped a few tears from the corners of her eyes, "... I-I am so tired... I feel that it's getting harder and harder enjoying life... but I'm glad that I came...".
"It's the first step... you are overwhelmed, under a lot of stress... you said you had a change of workplace-".
"I wasn't in my right mind when I asked to move to Firehouse 105, it's not that I see myself for a lot of years at headquarters, but it was too early for that, I believe...".
"You think you can move back to your old position? I can send a medical report to help you with that...", Dr. Parker wrote down something in her note.
Gabby nodded, "I-I think it's better for me to going back as well...".
"Okay, consider it done... you may come back here tomorrow and pick it up from my secretary...".
"Thank you...", Gabby sighed, "... Dr. Parker...".
"Our next appointment is in two weeks, still if you feel that you need an appointment earlier, call my secretary, and we'll fit you in... don't worry... I have one last question for you... There is something you haven't done in a while and you would like to get back to?"

4 days later...
After taking some time to think over Dr. Parker's last question, Gabby realized she missed going jogging, then she started it the next day... She has been doing it every day, even getting back to work at headquarters on Monday, Gabby intends to keep jogging on her schedule waking up one hour earlier...
There was another thing Gabby has been missing, Matt... Since what happened at her apartment they haven't been intimate in the bed, they shared a lot of kisses, but they never went too far... mainly because of Gabby, Matt thought she was holding back, he didn't know the reason and didn't try to question her, maybe it was only in his mind... until that Saturday morning when Gabby walked into his apartment after going jogging...
"...Morning... why are you up so early?" Gabby entered the kitchen, Matt was standing at the sink washing some strawberries...
"Morning... baby... I'm making your breakfast... I need to feed my athlete...", Matt winked at her when she got closer.
"Thank you...", Gabby kissed him on the cheek, then stood up behind him, she wrapped her arms around him.
Matt smiled... "Would you like some pancakes?"
"Maybe... later...", Gabby kissed his back. Matt was shirtless, only wearing his pajama pants.
Matt started to pull off the calyx of the strawberries and returning them to its bowl, that's when he felt Gabby rested her head against his back, her fingers ran through the soft curls of his chest.
"You are okay, babe?" Matt smiled, he wasn't complain, otherwise he loved her affections.
"Yeah... I've never been better...", Gabby turned her head and trailed wet pecks across his back.
"Good, that-that's good", his voice failed as her hands slid slowly into his pants causing him to stop the task at hand. "Baby-you are sure?" a small smile on his lips.
"I-I've been thinking about it lately...", her fingers touched a patch of hair, however, she didn't go further, "I didn't want to make love to you to mask my sadness, it wasn't fair to you, but now-".
"But now...", he stumbled over his words when he felt her hand wrapping around his shaft.
Gabby stepped up a little to his right side, then Matt raised his arm and embraced her shoulders, with her front against his right side, they looked at each other.
"I feel like myself lately... your love and your support make all the difference...", Gabby kept rubbing his balls as Matt shook his head trying to concentrate on her words...
"I love you...", Gabby murmured, "... that will never change...", her hand continued to stroke him.
Matt leaned down and they shared a couple of wet kisses, their tongues wrestling together.
"I love... you too...", Matt's eyes fluttered closed as groaned in pleasure, in a couple of minutes his member was huge, leaking out a bit of fluid.
Gabby moved her hand up and down faster... and faster...
"Oh fuck... oh... fuck... you are amazing...", he uttered gasping, her hand tightening around him. "I think I'm not gonna last if you keep doing that, babe...", Matt whispered as his chest rose and fell... they kissed over and over, before he could reach the climax, Gabby pulled out her hand from his pants and stepped back...
"What-what happened?" Matt questioned as he turned around.
"Take your pants off...", Gabby demanded as stepping closer to the kitchen table, pulling up the tank top she was wearing...
Matt salivated seeing her breasts and nipples hard as he pushed his pants down...
Gabby took off her leggings, pushing herself up to sit over the table, Gabby widened her legs to welcome him...
"We know it's still early, but...", Gabby paused as he walked over to her, licking her lips, "... please show me the stars...".
They locked eyes as Matt used his hand to keep her legs apart, "... There is so much more than I want to show you, girl... so much more...".
"Please...", Gabby shivered as felt his hand cupped her sweet spot...
