Unknown location. Thursday Evening – Week since kidnapping. Callie, Rylan.
Rylan and Callie sat at the dinner table of the drug house they were in. The chef or cook or whoever he was, was cleaning up the big pots behind them and another guy was in the room as well sitting at the kitchen bench eating his own dinner.
"Hows it taste?" Callie spoke quietly to the little girl as she picked at her own dinner. Rylan looked up at her sister and shrugged.
"Alright." Rylan finally verbally answered quietly as she scooped up another small bit of her lasagne from her plate and nibbled on it. She had been hungry but the sight of the food wasn't that appealing and it wasn't like home so her appetite had vanished.
"I guess you are right." Callie sighed out with a nod. The food wasn't as tasty here then it was at home but it was edible and they needed the energy.
"Eat up." Rylan nodded at Callie and then sighed as she scooped up more lasagne on her fork. She was getting bored and homesick. She wanted to go home.
Callie put her fork down and looked at the little girl. Callie had eaten a fair amount but the sighs coming from the little girl next to her was making her appetite disappear. She knew what Rylan was thinking, she was having the same thoughts.
Was their family alright? Were they looking for them? Had they given up hope?
What she wouldn't give to be out of these silly dresses and into some nice comfy home clothes, curled up on the couch with her family watching a movie.
Callie was jolted out of her thoughts at the sound of Rylans little squeal.
"Whats that Callie?" Callie could see the little girls face covered in tears, sheer panic and fear was plastered on the little face. Callie could hear loud banging and footsteps.
"I don't know." Callie said as she stood from her chair as the two men that were in the kitchen a few minutes ago raced out of the kitchen to see what the commotion was. Callie could hear yelling and she didn't like the sound of it.
This was a drug house after all. It could be that a deal had gone bad and they came looking for revenge. Callie knew she had to hide Rylan and herself before they got hurt.
"Come here." Callie called to the little girl. Immediately Rylan was clinging to her sisters waist. Callie hoisted Rylan onto her hip and then made her way to the other side of the kitchen and hid behind bench.
"Callie, I'm scared." Rylan whispered as she clung to her big sister.
"Shhh." Callie hushed the girl in her arms and cuddled her tightly, trying to give her some sense of safety. All through the house was noisy. Banging, yelling, footsteps and screams could be heard. That wasn't giving Callie and Rylan and reassurances that they were going to be ok.
"Arms where I can see them." Callie was startled at the deep demanding voice and looked to her left at the person holding a gun pointed at them. From her quick glance through tears and blurry vision due to the tears, Callie was only able to make out that the man in all black was wearing some sort of protective gear .
"Don't shoot, please don't shoot" Callie pleaded with tears running down her face as she pulled Rylans face into her neck to shield her a little.
"Get up." The man demanded.
Callie followed the instructions as she stood carefully with Rylan in her arms. Callie turned slightly so the gun was pointed at her and not anywhere near Rylan.
The man in the black gear lead her to the kitchen table and pushed her down to sit. Her left arm that wasn't holding Rylan was handcuffed to the table leg. The table was heavy so there would be no way that she could even lift the table up and slip the cuff down. She was stuck.
Wiping her eyes with her right hand to get rid of the tears was a little difficult with Rylan in her lap but she managed. It was then that the corner of her eye caught what was on the Mans protective Gear. S.W.A.T.
The letters should have made Callie feel relief but at this moment she wasn't. Hers and Rylans appearances were changed and they obviously didn't recognise either her or Rylan. She would have to talk and get them to listen when things settled. The only thing she could do right now was to listen and do what she was told that way her and Rylan would remain unharmed.
The gun remained pointing her way but not as forceful any more, the man was holding it lazily, obviously realising that the two girls weren't any threat. He was glancing around the room, keeping watch. He would casually glance at Callie and Rylan to make sure they hadn't moved before looking towards the doors to the room, the one that lead to the basement and the one that lead out of the kitchen.
"Hey whe...shit." The door the basement swung open and Tobys figure could be seen. Toby immediately saw the S.W.A.T guy with the gun and threw whatever he had in his hands behind him, pulled out his own gun before making a dash for the kitchen door, only for the door to slam straight into his face, Tobys gun went off as it hit the floor.
Then next thing Callie could see was a cop pushing Toby onto his stomach with his hands behind his back so that he could be cuffed. Callie gasped in surprise.
"Mike?" Callie whispered in shock as Rylans head moved from being buried in her chest to look over at Mike. The last person she would have expected to see was Mike, her Older brothers biological dad. It wasn't their mother but he was a familiar and friendly face.
Mike looked up when he heard his name. He immediately saw a red headed little girl and a blonde woman. He looks at the two of them in confusion. He had never seen them before, maybe a mutual friend?
From his position on the floor hovering over a cuffed Toby, Mike took a more better look at the girls to study their faces more.
"Callie?" He whispered out, eyes wide and watery. Callie nodded, tears streaming down her face in happiness.
"Take him and don't point your gun at them again." Mike said to S.W.A.T guy as he hauled Toby off of the floor. The S.W.A.T guy that had found Callie and Rylan nodded before taking Toby from Mike and pushing him out the kitchen.
Mike immediately moved over to the girls. Tears in his eyes as he knelt down in front of them and grabbed them in a hug.
"Uncle Mike" Rylan cried out into his neck. Tears staining his shirt.
"I would fully hug you back properly but I'm kinda stuck." Callie said with a chuckle as she shook her cuffed right arm, the handcuffs rattling against the table leg.
"Here I got it." Mike said as he pulled a key out of his pocket and unlocked the cuff around Callies wrist. Once she was released she pulled Mike into a hug using both of her arms. In the week she had been here, this felt like the best thing in the world. Sheer happiness.
The three remained in their hug as the house started to quiet down as people were being arrested and hauled out of the house.
"How did you find us?" Callie asked once they pulled away from the hug. Rylan clung to Mike, resting on his hip as he stood up along with Callie.
"We got a vague tip off." Mike briefly said, not wanting to give up too much information to the girls. He kissed Rylans temple and the girl smiled and sighed in relief and comfort.
"Why is Mom not with you? I thought you guys were partners?" Callie asked. She was glad Mike was here but she really wanted her Mothers.
"We didn't want to get her hopes up in case it wasn't you." Callie nodded in understanding. Her and Rylan hadn't seen the family in a week, a couple more hours wouldn't hurt. The sooner the better though.
Mike stared at the girls. He was hoping that this wasn't a dream. He frowned as he studied them more.
"Do you have contacts in? Are these wigs?" Mike asked as he ran his fingers through Rylans hair with a frown. So used to seeing a teenage Brunette and Little Blonde girl, not a red haired child and blonde teen. Callie chuckled.
"Semi permanent Hair dye, speaking of contacts." Callie said as she pulled her contacts out and threw them away just as Rylan did the same.
Mike smiled and pulled the two into an embrace.
"Ouch, Damn." Callie said with a frown and a wince, not realising she was sore or hurt.
"What? Are you hurt?" Mike asked looking over the teen in front of him with concern.
"Callie your bleeding!" Rylan panicked as she pointed to Callies arm, eyes wide with tears streaming at the sight of blood on her sisters arm.
"I need a medic. Someone get me a medic." Mike yelled as he put Rylan on her feet on the floor and guided Callie to sit back on the chair.
"I'm ok. I'm ok really." Callie said calmly to her sister and Mike, trying to reassure them that she wasn't dying and that her wound didn't feel life threatening. Yes her arm hurt but it wasn't a serious wound. She could feel it was only a graze. Adrenaline was an awesome thing though.
"We are getting you checked out. I want, no I need to make sure the two of your are fine." Mike said with a no nonsense tone. It was like the tone that her Mom used most of the time. It was pretty funny hearing it come from Mike though. She appreciated the way he cared about them.
Two male Medics arrived within a few minutes. They knelt in front of Callie as she pulled her light yellow cardigan off so the medics could get a look at the would on her left upper arm. She hated that yellow Cardigan anyway. Glad to not have to wear these silly dresses and clothes everyday any more.
"Lets take a look at that." The medic said as he got out the medical equipment he would need.
"I'm fine really. Its just a graze." Callie said trying to wave away the help.
"Cal, just let them look at it. It may be a graze but it can get infected and make you sick." Callie looked at Mike and then sighed before giving the medics the go ahead. She held her arm out for them to start working on it as she looked over at Mike who had once again picked up Rylan and was holding her on his hip. His body swaying the little girl softly in comfort. The little girl resting her head on Mikes shoulder as she watched her sister get fixed up.
"Once this is done, can we go? I don't want to be here a minute longer then we have too." Callie asked. She was tired of this place and wanted to be at home with her parents. Rylan was also looking like she was going to fall asleep any moment and Callie doubted the little girl wanted to be here any less then Callie did.
"Yeah, then we can go." Mike said with a nod, his eyes locking onto Callies for a second before moving to watch the medics working on her arm. His swaying movements not stopping an a second.
"Just a graze, not too deep, so no stitches were needed. I just cleaned it and now Ill wrap it for you. You will need to keep it clean to stop infection." One of the medics said as he worked on her arm.
"I will. Thank you." Callie said with a smile as she watched him finish wrapping her arm and stood after packing his gear up with his colleague. With a smile and a nod, the two of them were out of the room.
"I just need to go up to the room we were kept in. I have to get some things." Callie told Mike as she made to leave the room but Mike stopped her.
"You don't need to take anything from here Callie. It can all get replaced." Mike tried to reassure the girl.
"I know but I need to get some papers that I have been working on. I have detailed information about locations we were held and people we interacted with etc." Mike was a little shocked that Callie had done that but it would be a major help. Mike gave a nod to the teen.
"Smart thinking Cal." He called to her as she left the kitchen. Callie gave Mike a cheeky smile and a wink before she disappeared out the door.
"Your sister is very smart." Mike chuckled in amazement at the teens abilities. She is smart, clever, a great problem solver, cunning, brave, he could go on forever. She would make a great cop if she ever wanted to follow in her mothers footsteps.
"I know." Rylan said with a beaming smile as Mike set her on her feet. Rylan grabbed Mikes hand to keep in contact with him because she didn't know this was a dream or not and was afraid that if she let Mike go, he would disappear.
"Alright lets get out of here." Mike said once Callie had returned with a bag on her back.
"Aye aye." Rylan said with a smile and a salute making the other two laugh as they headed out of the house and away from this nightmare.
Sorry to those that wanted Stef to find the girls but I had Mike finding them already planned.
More to come.
