IMPORTANT DETAILS for this story:

Callie got Adopted the same day as Jude, her biological father is Donald.

Callie did go through the ordeal with Liam but she kept a few things hidden from everyone.

LENA got the principals position and lost the baby.

I don't know where Sharon, Dana and Stuart live. So Im saying that Sharon lives in the California area. While Dana and Stuart live in Florida.

Thursday evening – the night of Rylan, Callies rescue.

Releasing from the hold she had on her girls lightly, Stef looked over each of them. The Blonde hair of her teenage daughter and the red hair of her youngest daughter was something to get use to for now but all that mattered at the moment was that they were alive.

Stefs eyes widened at the bandage on Callies arm, blood spots painting it in different places.

"What happened?" Stef asked as she grabbed Callies arm carefully to look more closely at the bandage.

"She was shot." Mike told her. Callie rolled her eyes. 'Way to give my Mother a panic attack Mike.' Callie thought.

"Are you ok? Are you in pain?" Stef asked going into Mom mode as she placed a hand on Callies cheek to look into the girls eyes.

"Mom, I'm fine. It was just a graze." Callie reassured her Mother. Stef nodded with a sigh. She didn't like it but it was now the past and she couldn't have done anything to stop it. Callie let Stef act like this because it was what a Mother would do. Badass cop or not, she was a mother first.

"I'm going to take both of you for full check ups tomorrow anyway. I'm sure Mama would feel relieved if you did and so would this Mom."Stef said using her thumb to gesture to herself at the end of her sentence. Callie and Rylan chuckled but understood their Mothers concern.

"Stef?" Stef heard her name called and looked up from the girls to look at her Captain.

"Yes Captain?" Stef asked as she gave her Captain her full attention.

"Take your girls home. The FBI will talk to them in the morning. A couple of agents will be standing on your property to patrol tonight, just to let you know." Captain Roberts explained to them.

"Thanks Captain. Thank you Mike." Stef said with relief, she knew that the mob could still be after Rylan.

With a nod, Captain Roberts gives the girls a smile before heading back into her office. She was glad that the girls were found safe and tip off was very helpful.

"Stef?" A voice said her name just as Captain Roberts headed into her office. Stef looked to the right and smiled a greeting at Bill. She was hoping that he wouldn't be taking Rylan with him.

"Hey Bill. Rylan can come home with me right?" Stef asked getting straight to the point. She just got her babies back, she didn't want one being removed from her again.

"Like I told Callie and Rylan. The board and I have agreed that Rylan will remain with you and Lena. This kidnapping has nothing to do with the care Rylan has been receiving in your home." Bill explained. Stef let out a breath she didn't realise she had been holding. She beamed and moved forward to shake Bills hand.

"Thank you Bill. Thank you so much. " Bill smiled back at the women, grasping her hand in a strong grip. He really like Stef and Lena being foster parents, the kids in their care are always happy and healthy and that is all Bill and the state could ask for.

"Ill let you get back to your girls. Ill be in touch." Bill said releasing Stefs hand and picking up his briefcase from Stefs desk before heading out of the Station.

Now that no one else wanted her attention, Stef was able to focus back on her daughters. The two of them standing together next to Stefs desk.

"So, does that wash out?" Strf asked pointing at Callies hair and then at Rylans.

"Yeah, apparently its temporary, thank god. It will wash out after so many washes. I guess I'm a blonde and Rylans a red head for a while till it washes out." Callie explained.

Stef grimaces at the thought of her kids having different colour hair to their normal appearance. The blonde on Callie did suit her but it was weird and Callie obviously didn't like it.

Rylans Red hair was something. It didn't really suit her tanned skin. All that Stef knew was that her little mini mes original appearance was surly missed right now.

"Why don't you make a call to Lena while I take the girls to the break room to get something to eat and drink. I'm pretty sure there are some doughnuts and cake in there." Mike told the three of them. Rylans face morphed into a large smile as Mike said doughnuts and cake, like any child would. Stef, Callie and Mike chuckled.

"I'm in, I just need the bathroom first though." Callie told Mike.

"I need the bathroom too." Rylan told Callie as she reached over and clutched onto Callies hand. Callie smiled down at the girl and nodded.

"Alright lets go get some cake and doughnuts." Mike said to the two girls. Rylan followed, her hand still clutched in her sisters. She came to a halt next to Callie when Callie turned back to their Mom just as the three of them were heading to the break room.

"Hey Mom, maybe tell Mama that you have a new foster kid for the night or something so we can surprise her?" Callie asked. Stef nodded with a smile.

"Ill think of something sweets. Go have some treats." Stef said and Callie smiled back before rushing after Mike, Rylan at her side holding her hand.

Callie and Rylan caught up to Mike easily as they headed towards the break room. The teen moving to the toilets that were not to far from the break room, Rylans little hand still encased in her own.

Stef watched the three of them go. She could see them enter the hall. She knew they were safe with Mike but she only just got them back and right now, her mind was still stuck in that fear that she could blink and they would be gone.

Stef pulled out her phone and took a seat at her desk. She hit speed dial number 1 and waited.

"Hey honey." Came Lenas sweet voice.

"Hey Love. Just checking in. I shouldn't be home too late." Stef said as she looked towards the break room, she could see movement in the room so she knew they were still in there.

"Ok thats good. What did Captain Roberts need you for urgently?" Lena asked.

"I need you to get one of the beds ready in the girls room. We have a foster girl here at the station in need of a place for the night." Stef said to her wife, she waited for the anger she knew she was going to get. It was a lie, well sort of but she wanted to surprise her family with the girls.

"Stef, really? With everything we are going through right now, do you think this is the best thing?" Stef was expecting anger but the hurt in Lenas voice was heartbreaking. Stef could understand what her wife was thinking. Stef knew that Lena thought that the girls had been gone for a week and bringing in another foster child felt like they were replacing them.

"I know Lena but my Captain is in a bind and the social worker is looking for a place for her but for tonight she needs a place and we just happen to have a spot." Stef kept up her lie, it was worth it in the end. Hearing no response from her wife, Stef continued to explain, plead her case.

"Its only for one night Lena." Stef said, hopefully that would work.

"Ok, just one night." Lena relented. Stef smiled. She knew she could get her wife to say yes.

"Thank you Love. Ill see you soonish." Stef told Lena with a smile, even though she couldn't see it.

"Ok, I love you. Drive save."

"Love you too. I will."

Just as Stef hung up the phone Rylan and Callie came walking out of the hall that led to the break room with Mike. Both kids had smiles on their faces. Callie held a bottle of water in one hand and doughnut in the other. Rylan had Apple juice in one hand and a doughnut in the other. Stef smiled, they looked like they were enjoying themselves.

"What did you tell Mama?" Callie asked when they came to stand in front of Stefs desk.

"Told her that she needed to get a bed ready as we have a new foster child just for tonight." Stef said with a smile and a wink. Callie chuckled. Rylan was to focused on eating her doughnut to respond verbally but she nodded leaning against Callies side.

"Sneaky. Shes going to be surprised. They all will." Callie said, amusement lacing her voice.

"I know, so are we ready to go home?" Stef asked as she stood up from her desk and slipping her phone into her pocket.

"Most definitely." Callie sighed out in relief.

"Thanks for everything Mike. Ill message you tomorrow." Stef told her ex husband.

"No problems Stef. Call me if you guys need anything. Go get your girls home." Mike replied, enforcing the call me for anything. He wanted to help out as much as he could or as much as they would let him.

Stef smiled at her ex husband and gave him a hug before she and the girls left.

Stef was glad to have such a good man like Mike in her life, in her families life. All though their marriage ended, having him in her life, in Brandon's life was a godsend. She was glad their relationship was one of friendship and not enemies.

Adams – Foster Home

Lena stood outside in the backyard. Phone in her hand as she stared out over the yard. She had just ended the phone call with her wife and sighed. Guess she had some things to do.

Heading inside she knew Brandon and Jesus were currently doing dishes as it was their night. She knew Jude was upstairs doing some reading for school and Mariana was in the living room. Seeing that all the kids were busy, Lena headed upstairs and into the girls room.

Lena began stripping the beds of Callie, Rylan and Marianas favourite bedding. That was one thing she couldn't tolerate at the moment, letting someone else sleep in one of her girls beds with their favourite bedding. It just wouldn't feel right, so she was going to play it safe and slip the spare sets onto the beds. It was only for one night after all.

"Mama? What are you doing? Why did you change the bedding?" Lena turned around from placing the pillow onto Rylans bed at the sound of Marianas voice and stood up properly to talk to the teen.

The teen stood in the doorway to the girls room, leaning against the door frame as she looked at her Mama.

"Moms bringing another foster child home. Its just for tonight." Lena told the teen. Mariana nodded. Glad that it was only for the night, she didn't want this new person to replace her sisters.

"Boy or girl?" Mariana asked.

"Girl. Its just for one night, I promise sweetheart." Lena told her, telling her again that it was only for one night so the teen understood. They weren't replacing Callie and Rylan.

"It feels like we are replacing them though. Even though you said one night." Mariana still voiced her fear. Lena moved towards the teen and placed a hand on Marianas cheek, using her thumb to rub circles on her cheek.

"Oh honey, we aren't. These beds are always going to be for you, Cal and Rylan. The girl will only be one night, I think we can manage one night. Don't you?" Lena explained and Mariana sighed and nodded slowly.

"Yeah, I guess. When will Mom and the girl be home?"

"Mom said soonish." Mariana nodded, she looked around the room she shares with her sisters and could feel the tears welling up. She knew she needed to leave the room.

"Ok, I'm going to go inform the boys." Mariana said as she gave Lena a hug and then turned from the room so it was out of sight.

"Ok thanks sweetheart. Make sure you tell them its for one night only." Lena called to the girl. Mariana turned and gave a nod.

Lena watched her daughter try to compose herself and head back downstairs. Lena looked back around the room. Random items of Callies, Rylans and Marianas lay on surfaces around the room. It was a typical girl room but just seeing the girls things in the room was heartbreaking. She didn't know when two of her daughters would return. She just hoped that they were healthy and alive, that all she could ask for at the moment, thinking about anything more then that she couldn't do.

With one last glance around the room, Lena wiped her eyes and cheeks of tears before turning the light off in the room and closing the door behind her. She had much more to do before the girl got here with Stef.

Callie, Rylan and Stef sat in Stefs car as she drove the three of them home. Both Callie and Rylan sat in the back seat, both shaking in excitement. They were going to be going home, sleep in their own beds, see their Mama, see their brothers and sister.

Stef had messaged Lena that she was on her way home. Stef was excited to bring her babies home, she could only imagine her wifes expression when she saw them. She felt bad about lying, but the surprise would be totally worth it.

"How you going back their my babies?" Stef called out to the girls as she looked at them from her rear view mirror. Switching from glancing at the rear view mirror and then back at the road, the last thing they needed was an accident.

"Doing fine Mom. Just excited and relieved." Callie explained to her mother as Rylan sipped at her apple juice now that her doughnut was finished.

"Its been an emotional evening." Stef stated.

"Yeah but totally worth it." Callie said with a chuckle, which made Stef chuckle as well.

"You're very quiet little Miss. What's the matter?" Stef asked looking from the road to glance quickly at the rear view mirror to look at Rylan in her booster seat and then back again at the road, alternating between the two so she could see the little girl.

"Will mama like my new hair? Do you think she will know its us?" Rylan asks quietly, fiddling with her half empty bottle of apple juice . Callie squeezes Rylans hand in comfort.

"Mama wont care about your new hair or Callies. She will just be glad to have you in her arms. She will definitely know its you. Just like I knew it was you. " Stef reassures the little girl. She couldn't do much since she was driving, hopefully her words would help.

"How?" Rylan asks intrigued.

"I'm your mother, I know what my Babies look like. I look past what you are wearing and what your hair looks like and I see you. Anyone who knows the real you can see past that disguise." Stef explains a little more. Rylan nods silently as she thinks over what her Mother had just said.

"Remember its not permanent Rylan." Callie speaks up.

"Oh, yeah. I forgot." Callie and Stef chuckled as Rylan blushed and then smiled widely. Callie gave the little girls hand another squeeze and then leant over and planted a kiss to her temple.

"We're going home." Callie whispered into the little girls ear as she cuddled Rylan close to her.

"We're going home." Rylan parroted quietly with a smile as she looked up into Callies face.

Stef smiled at the view in her rear view mirror. The love and bond between her eldest daughter and youngest daughter amazed her. She loved seeing her children interacting so wonderfully together. It melts her heart.

As the car pulled to a stop in the driveway, Stef saw the porch light go on. Lena had informed Stef that she would send the kids upstairs so they wouldn't overwhelm the new foster child when Stef got home.

Knowing that Lena wouldn't rush out and overwhelm the new child, Stef had time to talk to the girls. Putting the car in park and turning the car off, Stef turned to the two in the back.

"So are you ready to see Mama and your siblings?" Stef asked with a smile.

"Oh yeah. Definitely. Its been too long." Callie said nodding while Rylan just nodded her head fast with a big grin plastered on her face.

"Well lets go then." Stef said as the three of them unbuckled to get out of the car. All three excited to go into the house.

Soo next chapter, Lena and the kids get a surprise.
