Sunday morning.
Stef felt like she had been hit by a train as she woke up. Herself, Lena and Rylan had barely gotten any sleep. The little girls continuous nightmares had plagued her all night and so Lena and Stef helped her through them which led to none of them getting any sleep. It was going to be a long day.
The only thing that had really helped was the little girl being held. Soothing words didn't help but the touch and comfort from her mothers helped some.
Stef stood in the kitchen sipping on some much needed coffee as Lena lay on the sofa in the lounge with the little girl laying on her, chest to chest. Both too tired to move.
It was only 6am, the other kids wouldn't be up for a few more hours. Stef and Lena had stayed in their bed with Rylan but the little girls nightmares were bad to the point that the little red head had not wanted to go back to sleep.
She was just content to lay with her Mama on the sofa in silence. Her bee toy tucked between the sofa and herself.
When the older kids did end up getting up, Stef and Lena were way to tired to even think of making everyone breakfast. It was a fend for yourself morning.
The kids all understood as they got their own breakfast. Fruit, Cereal and toast was on the menu or whatever the kids wanted to make themselves.
Callie was the first down that morning and the first to finish her breakfast. She ended up relieving her Mama of the little girl. Callie turned 'over the hedge' on and then lay on the sofa with Rylan on her, chest to chest just like Lena had held the girl earlier that morning.
Rylan didn't care who was holding her, the comfort of someone holding her was all that she needed.

SUNDAY MID MORNING.
By Mid morning, Lena and Stef were beyond tired. It was only around 9.30am and they felt like it was about 4 in the afternoon. They were really looking forward to bed tonight.
Currently Jude and Jesus were outside practising basketball with the Agent watching over them from his place on the front porch, Mariana was upstairs, Brandon was on his keyboard and Callie and Rylan were in the living room continuing to watch Over the hedge.
Stef and Lena sit around the kitchen table sipping coffee. Lena had paperwork out in front of her and Stef was reading the newspaper. It was a lazy day and they were too tired to do anything physical, even Lena was struggling to do her paperwork as she was too tired.
"Thats your phone." Lena called softly as she closed her paperwork up and rubbed her temples as Stefs phone rung in the study nook. Stef closed the newspaper and headed to grab her phone.
"Stef Adams foster." Stef answered, leaning against the desk in the study nook.
"Hi Stef, Its agent Callahan. We know its the weekend but we really need you and your wife to come to the station." Came Agent Callahans voice. Stef raised her eyebrow in confusion. Wondering why the FBI wanted to speak to her and Lena.
"Do we need to bring the girls? Bring anything?" Stef asked. This got Lenas attention.
"The girls are not needed and honestly, I wouldn't bring them down here. All you need is yourselves." Agent Callahan told Stef. Stef nodded before responding.
"Alright, we can be there in an hour." Stef told the Agent as she looked at Lena, who nodded.
"Alright no problems. See you in an hour."
"Bye." Stef replied before closing the phone and sliding it into her pocket.
"What was that about?" Lena asked as she put her files and paperwork back into her work bag and gave Stef her full attention.
"FBI want to talk to you and I. They said not to bring the girls." Stef explained to her wife. Lena raised an eyebrow in wonder.
"Ok, well you need to call your mother to come watch the kids." Lena responded as Stef nodded.
"Alright, ill go do that now while you go tell the kids." Stef said as she slid her phone out of her pocket and dialled her mothers number as Lena disappeared up the stairs to talk to Mariana and Brandon before heading outside to talk to Jude and Jesus and then the Agent.

Stef was busying herself in the kitchen while she waited for her mother to get here and for Lena to come back in the house once she had finished talking to the boys.
Seeing that there was nothing left to fiddle with in the kitchen, Stef headed into the living room and smiled at the sight of two of her daughters cuddled up asleep.
Lena entered the house after talking to the boys and the Agent, Stef quietly walking towards her so she didn't wake the two sleeping girls up.
"I told the boys and Mariana but as you see, Callie and Rylan are asleep on the sofa and I don't want to wake them." Lena told Stef just as the front door opened to reveal Sharon.
"Hi Mom, thanks for coming." Stef told her Mother as she was pulled into a hug.
"Its not a problem sweetheart." Sharon responded placing a kiss to Stef temple and then pulling Lena into a hug. Stef smiled and pulled her shoes on and grabbed her car keys.
"Well Brandon is upstairs on his keyboard, Jude and Jesus are outside playing basketball as you probably saw, Mariana is on the phone with Lexie upstairs and Callie and Rylan are asleep on the sofa." Lena explained to Sharon. Sharon nodded and then looked around the wall to see Callie and Rylan indeed sleeping. Callie on her back with the little girl laying on Callie, chest to chest.
"Isn't it too early to be having a nap?" Sharon asked with a raised eyebrow. 10 was very early for a nap. Lena and Stef sighed as they shared a look.
"Not when Rylan has been up all night for the last two nights plagued with nightmares and Miss Callie has the odd one or two a night." Lena explains. Sharon nods giving the women a look of sympathy.
"Well we are going to leave while they sleep. Rylan has been a little clingy, so if we don't leave now we wont leave at all." Stef told her mother as Lena slipped her shoes on and grabbed her handbag, both of them now ready to head to the police station.
"Alright, ill see you later sweethearts. Drive safe." Sharon told them as she held the door open for her daughters.
"I will Mom." Stef said before placing a kiss to her Moms cheek and then grasped Lenas hand in hers and the two of them headed for the car.

Stef and Lena walked into the police station around 10.30ish Sunday morning. They were both nervous as to what the FBI wanted to talk to them about. It couldn't be bad news as their daughters had been found. Stef just hoped it was information on the Mob boss.
"Stef, Lena." Agent Callahan greeted as she was the first to see the two women enter. Agent McGuire looking up as the women's names were said.
"Agents." Stef nodded as she greeted the two as she and Lena headed towards the two.
"Lets go into the office." Agent McGuire said, gesturing with his hand towards an office.
Stef and Lena follow the agents into an office that they had been using for the last week, not wanting to put Captain Roberts out all this time.
"You wanted to see us?" Stef asked getting right to the point as they stood around the office.
"Yes. First off, I just wanted to say that Rylan and Callie being home safe and sound is just amazing. That tip off really helped." Agent McGuire said happily, it was an amazing outcome when missing children were found safe.
"About that tip off, any leads on to who it was?" Stef asked, she was curious. Both agents looked at each other having a silent conversation, one that Stef and Lena usually do on a daily basis.
"If you would follow us." Agent Callahan told the two women after her silent conversation with Agent McGuire.
Stef and lena follow the agents towards the rooms that Stef knew all to well as the interrogation room. Agent Callahan led them into the viewing room and both Stef and Lena were shocked to see who was sitting on the other side.
"Meet the woman who tipped us off. Kathleen Dunn. She gave herself up." Agent McGuire said. Stef and Lena were shocked but it was Stef who voiced her shock.
"What?why? She went through all that trouble to get Rylan, why would she give herself up, give up the girls location?" Both Agents smiled.
"We were just about to start the interrogation and thought it would be good for you both to watch, off the books that is." Agent Callahan told the women.
"Thank you." Lena told them giving them a smile as she turned her head back to look at the woman that had kidnapped their daughters.
Leaving Stef and Lena in the viewing room, Agents Callahan and McGuire headed into the room to face Kathleen. Kathleen seemed relaxed and composed just like she had all those weeks ago at the camping location.
The agents took seats and placed a manilla file on the table in front of them.
"Hello Kathleen." Agent McGuire said as he relaxed in his seat.
"Hi." Kathleen responded with a nod to go with her answer. She uncrossed her legs and then recrossed them the other way, getting comfortable.
"I am Agent McGuire and this is Agent Callahan." Agent McGuire said as he gestured to himself and his partner.
"Alright, enough small talk. I gave myself up, lets get this over with." Kathleen said to the Agents in a calm voice, seemingly bored and wanted to get this over and done with.
"Alright. Why did you tip us off to the whereabouts of Callie and Rylan after going through process of taking them in the first place?" Agent McGuire asked.
"I want to speak to Rylans foster parents. I will talk with them. I have information that you and they will need to know. Its important. I gave myself up, just give me this one thing if you want answers." Kathleen asked, crossing her arms as she stared at the Agents. The agents had a silent conversation between each other before the both stood up and left the room.
They had no choice, they were letting the women watch off the books but now Kathleen would only talk to them. They would have to bring them in if they wanted answers.
Xxxxx
As soon as the agents walked into the viewing room, Stef pounced.
"We will talk to her." Stef said immediately. Both agents knew that the women would agree but she had to make sure that this was something that they really wanted to do.
"Are you sure?" Agen Callahan asked looking at both women.
"Yeah, if this is the only way she is going to give us information then so be it." Stef told them.
The agents looked at each other before nodding.
"Alright, but you can't go in just yet. We can't let her know that you both were already here. Take this time to prepare yourselves."
"When you go in stay composed. Don't get angry, don't yell, just talk to her like you're having a normal conversation over coffee." Agent Callahan told them women. Stef and Lena nodded. They knew that they couldn't get angry, they had to keep Kathleen talking, they needed the information,
"We can do that. We just want answers." Lena told them. Stef and Lena looked at the woman they had met camping, the woman who was a mastermind behind the kidnapping of their daughters.

The four of them waited in the viewing room for half an hour, it was a decent amount of time before Stef and Lena took a few deep breaths to compose themselves for what they were about to hear before heading into the interrogation room. The two Agents were going to stand in the viewing room to take notes and observe Kathleens body language. It was better for the Agents to let the three women talk.
"Stef, Lena." Kathleen greeted the two women with a smile as they took seats on the opposite side of the table from her.
"Kathleen." Stef returned the greeting. Lena giving the woman a small smile and a nod.
"You wanted to speak with us?" Lena asked as her and Stef got comfortable for the long chat they were sure was to happen.
Kathleen sat up straighter in her chair as she looked from one women to the other.
"I do. I have information that will be important when the time comes for Rylans adoption."Kathleen told them. Stef and Lenas interest was spiked at information regarding Rylans adoption.
"What information?" Lena asked the woman, sounding really interest. Kathleen smiled, she really liked these women. They were really nice and good people.
"You know, this life I live wasn't one I chose. I grew up with Patrick Dunn as my father. Crime is in my DNA, as much as I hate to admit it." Kathleen started. Stef and Lena kept their focus on Kathleen, wondering where she was going with this.
"Why not leave?" Stef asked. Kathleen chuckled as she relaxed in the chair more.
"Yeah right, like my father would let me leave. He may be my father but loyalty is something he holds high." Kathleen tells them, highly amused at the idea of leaving the crime business she was raised in.
"But you're not being loyal right now by tipping us off. Why?" Lena asked.
"My whole life has been about crime. The drugs, money and murder. I didn't pay much attention to it growing up but as I got older and things made more sense I could see that my father was just another criminal. I was stuck with no way out of it and so I embraced it the best that I could. All I wanted was my daddys approval." Kathleen told them women, looking down at her hands as she remembered her childhood.
Stef and Lena remained silent. They could tell that Kathleen had more to say.
"As time went on the life I was living was becoming harder. I wanted a normal life like other women my age have. A family that did their day to day things, watched tv together, took their kids on outings. Went out for dinner as a family. I wanted the normal life, one where I didn't have to watch over my shoulder all the time for cops and enemies." Kathleen explained looking at her hands still.
The room went silent for a few minutes as Stef and Lena watched the woman across from them sort through her feeling and thoughts.
"Did you guys know that I haven't seen my mother since I was around 4?" Kathleen told them, now looking up from her hands towards the two women.
"No, where is she?" Stef asked in wonder. She really did want to know where Kathleens mother was. She had heard all about Patrick Dunn but nothing about his partner/wife. Kathleen shrugged.
"I have no idea. The thing with this family business is that it breaks families. My mother and father fought when I was younger and my father got custody of me." Kathleen told them.
"I'm sorry but what has this got to do with Rylan?" Lena asked. She was confused.
"My father has always made sure that all leads that could be traced back to him were eliminated. Curtis Mathews and his family were leads that could lead back to my father and so Rylan had to be eliminated. My father couldn't kill her, wouldn't kill her." Kathleen told them. There it was, the part about Rylan.
"Why not?" Stef asked, surely a small kid would be so easy to get rid of. Stef hated that she thought like that, knowing that if the Dunns had succeed she would have never met Rylan, never would have had another daughter that she had become so attached to and loved so much.
"Rylan became hard to find and my father grew to having an obsession with the little girl. He put a lot of resources into finding her. My husband and I went along with his plans to find her, I have to admit the kidnapping out the front of your place wasn't my fathers idea, Daniel and I were just impatient and I thought that it would make my father proud of me if I got her after everyone else had failed." Kathleen told them giving them a sad smile. Stef felt anger but she didn't show it, she just clenched her fists under the table so Kathleen couldn't see.
"Shes just a little girl, why couldn't you have left her alone?" Lena asked, slightly upset. Stef reached over and clasped Lenas hand in her own to give her some comfort and to help calm her. Kathleen sighed sadly as she looked at the two women in front of her. The love they have for Rylan was amazing and admirable.
"I thought the same thing but my father needed to have her in his possession. It wasn't until a few hours before I tipped the police off that I was told the reason for his obsession with Rylan." Kathleen said softly. Stef and Lena waited. They needed to know the reason.
"What was the reason for his obsession?" Stef asked cautiously, not wanting Kathleen to close up right when she was starting to give them important information. Kathleen looked a both of the women before looking down at her hands.
"My father hired Curtis Mathews and after a few years he was caught as being a spy. My father shot him dead without a care and put a hit on his family." Kathleen told them.
"We know that. Why was Curtis so important to your father after his death?" Stef asked curiously wanting to know why. Kathleen still looked at her hands as she remembers things about her past.
"As I told you before I hadn't seen my mother since I was 4. My mother disappeared after my father got custody of me. She severed all connections and became untraceable, off the grid, not even my father could find her. What my mother didn't tell my father was that she was pregnant when she left. Already having one child taken from her she wouldn't let her unborn baby be taken from her." Now Kathleen looked up from her hands to stare at the women, tears in her eyes.
"That baby was Curtis. Rylan is my niece. My father killed my brother." Kathleen told the shocked women in front of her as tears fell rapidly from her eyes.
WOAH, bet you didn't see that coming.
More to come.
