TUESDAY, 1ST JULY, Afternoon
Rylan continued to dig through the first box, it was basically just paperwork that she really had no understanding of. Her Mom and Mama can help her sort through that box another time. So pushing that box to the side after placing everything back into it, Rylan moved onto the second box.
This box contained a lot of photos and albums. This one held all the memories that Rylan would have forgotten over time since she was much younger when she was with her parents.
Rylan began to dig through the box. She pulled out the first album and opened it up. It was pictures of her as a baby. Either smiling, crying, playing, or laughing. The photos were cute.
"This one is of your Mom and dad." Lena said as she had leant into the box and pulled out a framed photo that had been under the album Rylan was currently looking at.
Rylan looked up from the photo album in her hand to the framed photo in her Mamas hands. Lena slowly placed it onto the girls lap covering the photo album. Rylans eyes continued to stare at the photo of her biological parents.
"You look so much like your Mom." Lena told the girl, leaning over and placing a kiss to the girls head. Rylan didn't respond as she kept looking at the photo. The living room was quiet for a few minutes as they let the little girl have some time.
"I was starting to forget what she looked like and I don't remember him at all." Rylan whispered looking at the photo before looking up at her Mama. Tears falling from her eyes, running down her cheeks made Lenas heart ache for her daughter. Wishing that the little girls heartache for her parents wouldn't hurt as much but there was not much Lena could do for the girl except be there for her.
"You were very little when he died. Now with these memories and photos, you can keep your parents close to your heart." Lena told the little girl. Rylan nodded as Lena leant over and placed a soft kiss to the girls temple before using her thumbs to wipe the tears from her daughters face.
Rylan gave her Mama a smile before passing over the album to her Mama so that Lena could hand it to the others when she was done. Rylan kept the photo frame of her parents next to her, she wanted that close. It may be just a picture in a frame but to the little girl, it was the best thing in the world, it was valuable to her.
"Alright Bug. We better go." Stef suddenly said as she finally realised the time. Callie looked up from one of Rylans photo albums and sighed. She did not want to go to therapy.

Callie and Stef headed into the therapists building. Callie wasn't all that thrilled on being here and just wanted to high tail it out of the building and into the car. Stef could see it written all over the girls face. She new Callie didn't want to be here but she needed to be and Stef wasn't going to be one of those parents that ignores the fact that their child needs help even when they aren't asking for it.
"I really don't think I need therapy. I'm fine." Callie voiced her inner thoughts as she walked towards a chair in the waiting room, taking a seat as Stef did the same.
"I think you do. We are all doing it, so just bare with us please Bug." Stef softly told the girl, pleading with the teen. Callie looked at her Mother and then gave a big sigh.
"Fine, but I won't like it. I never have." Stef sighed. She was amused a little. The teen was definitly stubborn.
Heels clicking on the floor made the two Adams-Fosters look away from each other and over to the women the heels belong to.
"Good afternoon Stef." Alyssa greeted the blonde women and Stef nodded and repeated the greeting back as her and Callie stood up from their seats.
"You must be Callie, its nice to meet you. " Alyssa said, She was looking from Stef to Callie with a smile on her face, acting like she didn't hear the conversation that had been going on between mother and daughter in her waiting room as she walked in.
"Same. " Alyssa smiled not giving the teen any indication that she could tell that Callie was tense not liking this already. So Alyssa decided to get everything over and done with as fast as she could so the teen wouldn't feel as umcomfortable.
"Well how about we get Mom to wait out here for us while we talk?" Alyssa asked the teen.
Callie shrugged, she didn't care, she just wanted to get this over and done with so she can go home and be out of this building.
Callie walked into Alyssas office as Alyssa stood next to the door. Once Callie moved into the room and took a seat, Alyssa closed the door and moved to a seat beside her desk.
"Now, before we begin, I have one major rule." Alyssa began the conversation. She paused and waited for the teen to look at her before she poke again. Once Callie gave a nod that she was listening Alyssa continued on with her Major rule.
"There is no lying in this room, that means I won't lie to you and you wont lie to me. I want the honest truth, even if you think it will upset me. Understood?" Callie nodded, that was an alright rule. Callied crossed her left leg over her right leg and crossed her arms as she settled into the seat, that she knew she would be in for the next hour.
"Good. Now that is out of the way, I just want to say that whatever is said in here will not leave the room, well unless you tell me that you are suicidal or are planning to physically harm someone." Alyssa told the teen.
"Fair enough, confidentially code or something like it that you therapist/ physologist people have." Callie said and Alyssa nodded with a chuckle.
"So Callie, shall we begin?"

Callie walked out of Alyssas office an hour later. She felt emotional. Yeah, thats the word, emotional. She didn't know if she wanted to laugh, cry, scream, or just collapse in tiredness.
Stef stood up once the door opened. She looked at Callie and could see that she was working things through in her head, so that meant the therapy session helped a little.
Stef watched as Callie took a seat and so that gave her a moment to talk with Alyssa.
"How was she?" Stef asked the woman. Alyssa looked away from the teen to look at Stef.
"Confidentiality and all but she did great. We definitely need more sessions but shes working through her problems." Stef nodded before saying goodbye and moving to her daughter.
"Come on sweets, lets go home." Stef said to the teen and Callie immediately stood up and headed to the door. She was definitely ready to go home.
The drive home was silent. Stef let the teen have her space, she knew Alyssa had probably helped Callie alot in that one hour, even when said teen had told her she was fine and didn't need therapy.
When they arrived home Callie headed straight up the stairs to her room, closing the door behind her. It was obvious that she still needed time to herself. Stef watched her go, she would talk to her later, after dinner.
Xxxxxxx
The moms didn't end up getting to talk to Callie after dinner. The girl had eaten and then gone to sleep, stressed and mentally exhausted from therapy.
The house was silent, well silent for the most part if you don't count Jesus loud snoring or the other soft snores filling the house. The girls room was silent, occasionally the odd whimper or sob would come from each of the three girls as they dealt with their nightmares.
Callie on the other hand shot straight up in bed. Noise didn't wake her, it was her nightmares. Sweat covered the teens body, tears streamed down her face and her breathing was heavy.
Callies eyes darted around the room, tears still falling. She couldn't get them to stop, the nightmare was one of her worst and she couldn't stop shaking just from the thought of what had played through her mind.
Callie climbed down from the bunk and as soon as her feet touched the ground Callie looked over at Mariana and then at Rylan. They were safe, they were ok. Callie took a deep breath through her shivers and made her way out of the room. She needed help. She needed her mothers.

Stef and Lena lay asleep, cuddled together as they dreamed. It was as if their Mom brain kicked in that made the two of them wake. Lena groggily looked at Stef and the both of them just looked at each other and then towards their door that was closed.
The two of them only had to wait a minute or two before the door started to open. Lena and Stef both sat up and Lena flicked on the bed side lamp just as the door opened fully.
"Oh sweetheart." Lena said softly as she climbed out of bed at the sight of Callie. The teen was shivering and the Moms both knew that the girl had had a nightmare, a bad one at that.
A soon as Lena reached the teen, Callie immediately broke down in her Mamas arms. Lena led the girl to the bed. Callie collapsed onto the bed next to her Mother and Lena joined the two of them. Both Moms cuddling the crying teen, hoping to soothe her a little.
"Hey sweets. It alright. Mama and I have got you." Stef whispered into the girls ear as the three of them lay cuddled together.
"Do you want to talk about your nightmare sweetheart?" Stef asked the teen as she rubbed the girls back. Callie lay in silence for a minute and the Moms let her, they knew today had been an emotional day.
Callie knew she had to talk about her nightmares. Although Callie wouldn't admit it, Alyssa was a really good therapist and had really helped. Callie talked, she never really talked to a therapist about her problems but she needed help and she had said she would try and she did.
Callie slowly sat up and leant her back against the headboard of her parents bed. Stef and lena following but instead of leaning against the headboard the two sat across from the girl so that they could look her in the face and show her that she has their complete attention.
"My weakness always shows. I can't hid it, why can't I hide it? Liam knew, previous foster parents knew, even strangers know." Callie said through hiccups as she looked from one Mother to the other. Both remained silent, they knew Callie still had things to say and for that Callie was greatful that her Mothers were letting her get things out without interuppting.
"In that house they split us up. They just knew where to strike to envoke fear in me. Then Rylan told me he killed her mother, that Toby killed her mother and I was scared. I had to be strong, had to protect. But I was so scared Mom, so scared." Callie explained as more tears fell. Lena and Stef heart broke. They had never heard their daughter sound so scared, so distraught. It made their hearts ache.
"I don't want to be scared Mama. I don't want to be scared anymore. Why do they use my fear against me. Every time. Why Mom. why? Why Mama? Please tell me." Callie finally broke down as Lena pulled the girl into her arms. Callie finally was able to get her emotions out, she knew her Mothers had her and she didn't need to be strong in that moment.
"Deep breaths Cal, come on deep breaths." Stef whispered to the teen as she rubbed her back.
"Oh god."Callie was immediatly out of her Mamas arms and off the bed as she ran for the bathroom, her emotions were haywire.
Callie continued to heave into the toilet bowl. The feeling of hands holding her hair back and hands rubbing her back were comforting.
"Loving your family isn't a weakness Callie. Loving your family makes you strong because you have something to fight for. Everyday when I go to work chasing down criminals, I think of my family, I do my job so my family is safe. So you are safe." Stef told the girl as she continued to rub Callies back.
Callie wiped her mouth with a cloth Stef gave her before she rinsed her mouth with a cup of water, spitting it into the toilet. Once she was done she gave her Mothers the cup and cloth before leaning away from the toilet to sit with her back against the bathroom wall. Her stomach not yet settled so she wasn't going to risk moving away.
"Some days I just want to be a normal teenage girl. I'm tired of people using my emotions and family against me. Im tired of being strong all the time but if I'm not strong, they try to break me down." Callie told her Moms, her voice hoarse from crying and puking. Stef and Lena shared a look as they sat infront of the teen on the cold bathroom floor.
"Your weakness is only your weakness if you let it be. You don't have to try to be strong all the time my love. Let us help you, we will be strong for you and help you conquor your fears because thats what Moms do." Stef told the teen. Callie sighed and looked in her Mamas eyes and then her Moms.
Callie knew her Mothers were right. She knew she was strong and she knew she didn't need to be strong all the time. Her weakness was only her weakness if she let it be.
"Ill try." Callie whispered with a nod. This was the first step to getting help. Both Moms pulled the teen into a hug.
With Callie out of the foster system and adopted into this wonderful family, the teen had changed in a good way. She felt safe and protected, something she hadn't felt in a very long time. She had let go of many fears and opened her heart to let the family in. If this was a year ago, her younger self would be shocked at her displayed emotions and the walls that she had built over the many years in the foster system, had been knocked down to let the family in. Callie was definitely on the right track her future was one Callie was looking forward to.
Lena and Stef gave each other a look over the teens head. Therapy had definitly helped Callie today. The emotions she had bottled up for so long had finally come crashing down and now Callie can work on building herself up.
