Harry talking through his mind

(Thoughts)

(With Harry Potter)

The group was silent as they found a resting spot. They knew the hobbits would be tired since they weren't used to traveling. Shadow shifted back to his human form and handed the hobbits food and drinks. They all thanked him and began eating.

"That is a lot of food." Boromir commented.

"Hobbits eat a lot." Harry told him

"I see that."

"Not yet." Harry said.

"What?" The redhead looked confused.

Harry smirked before he explained. Boromir looked at the four hobbits in shock. They were so small that he couldn't see where they put it all. Meanwhile Harry grabbed some water.

"Are you serious?"

"Yup!"

"Wow."

Harry finished the water and cleaned the dishes magically. Even Gandalf was in awe of the young man's magic. Harry put the dishes away and shifted back into a wolf.

"Shadow?" Aragorn looked at the wolf.

Yes?

"I believe it would be a good idea to teach the hobbits how to use those swords." Aragorn suggested. "This way they are better protected."

Sounds good to me.

"Great. Would you all like to learn?" He asked the hobbits.

"Yes." They were eager to learn.

The group began to teach the four how to fight. Shadow watched from the side. He made sure none of them got hurt while they learned. After a while Frodo and Sam took a break. Pippin and Merry continued with Boromir.

Sam went to the fire they had started and began cooking. Aragorn and Legolas inspected their weapons while Gimli joined Sam. Frodo sat down between Gandalf and Shadow. He petted Shadow as he watched the mock fight.

"Shadow?"

Hmm?

"Do… Do you ever wish to return to your home world?"

Gandalf pretended to not be interested but Shadow wasn't fooled. Not permanently. I just want to check up on a few people. This is my home now.

"Really?"

Yes.

"Oh."

I don't think I could stay. There are just too many bad memories there.

Frodo hugged him. "I know."

Don't worry Frodo. I would never leave you unless I had to.

"Thanks Shadow."

You're welcome.

"Aaaah!" Pippin yelled.

They looked over to see that Boromir had accidentally nicked Pippin's hand. Boromir put his sword away.

"I'm so sorry Pippin."

Pippin walked up to the taller male. He gave a good kick to Boromir's shin.

"Ahh!" He screamed.

"Get him!" Merry shouted.

Boromir gave a playful smile and fell down. The two hobbits tackle him and begin tickling him. The others laughed.

"For the Shire!" Pippin yelled.

Aragorn walked over to them. "That's enough gentlemen."

He laid a hand on either rabbit's shoulder. Merry and Pippin shared a grin. They grabbed his arms pulling him down onto his back. He lands on Pippin's arm.

Pippin grabbed his arm dramatically. "My arm. You've got my arm."

"Whoops." He rolled off.

Legolas stopped paying attention and stared off into the distance. A strange cloud had appeared. Sam was the one to take notice of Legolas' observation and look in the same direction.

"What is that?" He asked.

Gimli dismissed it. "Nothing. It's just a whiff of a cloud."

Boromir stood and placed a hand on both Merry and Pippin's shoulder. "It's moving fast… against the wind."

"Crebain from Dunland!" He shouted.

"Hide!" Aragorn yelled.

"Hurry!" Boromir urged.

Everyone scrambled to hide. Shadow cast an invisibility spell on everyone as they hid. Soon the creatures flew around trying to find them. They flew off soon after.

Shadow canceled the spell as they left their hiding spots. Gandalf looked upset.

"What do we do, Gandalf?" Pippin asked.

"We must take the pass of Caradhras." He answered.

"Why not the mines of Moria?" Gimli asked.

"No."

Gimli looked upset but the group continued their journey. Gandalf led the way. As it got colder Shadow cast heating spells on them. When the snow got deeper he cast weightless spells. Unfortunately he didn't know any that lasted a long time so he had to keep applying them.

Shadow also tried to protect them from the wind. The more magic he used the less powerful they were. He hoped they made it off the mountain soon. He wasn't going to be able to keep using his magic. He was powerful but even he had his limitations and using magic to keep himself and nine people safe and warm was hard.

When he was re-applying the shield to keep the wind at bay Frodo fell and went backwards. Aragorn and Legolas quickly went to his aid. Boromir had done the same only to see the ring.

The ring began weaving it's manipulations. He began talking about the ring. Aragorn had sternly told him to return the ring but that wasn't enough to break his trance. Shadow knocked into him and it worked.

"What?" He looked confused.

Give Frodo the ring Boromir.

"R-right. I'm sorry." He said to Frodo the ring.

"It's alright. Thank you."

It is the ring. It was trying to use you to get back to its master.

"It was. I tried to ignore it but I couldn't."

We know. Its allure is very powerful.

"It is indeed."

They began walking once more. Boromir kept a distance from Frodo. He didn't want that ring near him and was afraid it would force him to hurt Frodo. He couldn't wait for that ring to get destroyed.

Unfortunately another problem made itself known. Solomon, the evil wizard Gandalf told them about, tried to knock them off the mountain. Gandalf tried to protect them but he wasn't strong enough. Shadow felt helpless. He put up a shield but that was all he could do. He had no knowledge of the spell used so he had no idea how to counter it. Plus he was already using a lot of magic.

"We need to get off the mountain!" Boromir shouted as he held onto Pippin and Merry.

I agree. It's not safe.

"We need to go through the mines!" Gimli yelled.

Gandalf didn't answer right away. He was silent for a few minutes before turning and looking at Frodo. Shadow was pissed that he was making Frodo decide. He kept silent because he knew that arguing wasn't going to do any good. He would have a good long talk with Gandalf later.

"What?" Frodo asked.

"Do you want to continue or do you want to go through the mines?" Gandalf asked him.

"Y-you're asking me?" Frodo was shocked.

"Yes."

Calm down Frodo. You can do this.

"I don't know. This mountain is dangerous but I know nothing of Moria."

Neither do I. I don't think Gimli would suggest it if it were dangerous. He doesn't seem like the type to knowingly put anyone in harm's way.

"I wouldn't ever do that." Gimli promised.

Frodo closed his eyes. He took a deep breath and thought it over.

"We'll go through the mines of Moria."
