AN: Im seriously shocked at how many words this story is turning out to be. I have this dramatic climax scene in my head that I've been planning since I first started writing this ages ago. Please review and let me know what you all think so that I know I'm not shouting into the void. This is unedited and un betad. I was too excited to post it so please forgive any errors. I'll go back for them later.

Sam and Dean moved with a deadly efficiency in a crisis. Sam was already throwing all their belongings into bags while Dean tried to get the full story out of Nicole. He sat her down on the toilet in their hotel bathroom, kneeling in front of her.

"Nicole, you need to tell me what happened." His green eyes felt like they were staring right through her and Nicole could tell how serious he was being with the use of her first name. She looked away from him, still ashamed of the blood lust she knew she could no longer hide.

"I don't remember," she whispered, refusing to meet his eyes.

"You aren't hurt so where did all the blood come from?"

Nicole squeezed her eyes shut. "When I said I don't remember, I meant I don't remember doing it, but I know exactly what happened."

Dean sucked in a breath. "Did you hurt someone? Did you drink from a human?" His tone was urgent and his grip on her arms tightened almost painfully.

"No," she whispered, shaking her head. "No… I broke into an animal hospital."

Dean sighed in relief and and he kissed her on the forehead. "Oh thank god."

Standing to grab her a towel, he was back in crisis mode. "You've got two minutes to rinse and change. I'll bring you some clothes and then we're leaving."

Dean shut the bathroom door behind him to find Sam throwing his own clothes into his duffle. He looked up at his brother's entrance.

"Dean! What the hell happened?!" Sam didn't pause in his packing, but looked up at his brother with wide eyes.

Dean shook his head in exasperation and began hunting around the room for Nicole's bag. "It wasn't a human, that's all I know. I'll get the rest from her on the road. Where's her bag?"

"It's already in the car, why?"

Instead of answering Sam, Dean grabbed some of his own clothes and cracked the door of the bathroom.

"Hurry up!" He shouted gruffly as he dropped his clothes in the sink for her.

3 minutes later, the three hunters were in the car speeding out of town with Sam behind the wheel and Dean facing Nicole in the back seat with a stern look on his face and his eyes blazing. Nicole was sitting with her knees pulled to her chest in a pair of Dean's basketball shorts and a hoodie. She played with the strings of the hood to avoid looking at his piercing gaze.

"Start talking, Sweetheart."

There was really no way out of it. She knew since the moment she banged on the hotel room door covered in blood that her secret was coming out and she was going to have to admit to the extreme bloodlust she'd been having and the nightmares about murdering her loved ones. Stealing herself with a deep breath, Nicole started from the beginning.

She told them about how she'd been having nightmares every night about killing people, especially those that she loved and how she would wake up with her throat burning and how ashamed she was because she felt like a monster. She'd been so starving and exhausted each day since they left Bobby's that she could hardly function, so when she was out running and decided to get herself some blood, she just lost control. She barely remembered anything from when she ransacked the refrigerator at that animal hospital, but when she finally came back to herself, the scene of destruction she had caused was too much to bear. She couldn't be trusted because she couldn't keep control of herself. What if next time it was a person instead of a refrigerator of blood?

When she finally finished her story, the only sound in the car was her crying. The brothers were both too shocked to form words. Sam drove on in silence, glancing into the rearview mirror every few seconds, his eyebrows furrowed in concern. Dean on the other hand, was turned around in his seat watching Nicole cry into the sleeves of his sweatshirt, his eyes wide and his mouth in a firm line.

"Please say something," she gulped out between uneven breaths. Dean let out a huge breath that he was holding and ran his hands over his face.

"Dean... " Sam said in a warning tone, "don't say anything stupid."

Ignoring his brother, Dean turned back to Nicole. "How could you not tell us." His tone was accusatory and Nicole felt guilt bubble up inside of her.

"I was ashamed," Nicole sniffled. "I didn't want you to start treating me like a monster again. How was I supposed to look you in the eye and tell you that I had dreams about killing you and your brother and I'd wake up up ravenously hungry. I thought I could tough it out until we got to New Orleans and tracked down the alpha."

Now it was Dean's turn to feel guilty. If he hadn't been so hard on Nicole when she first changed, she might have felt like she could have talked to him or Sam about this right when it started. She wouldn't have been hiding how much she was struggling and she wouldn't had to go hungry because they would have found a way to get her more blood.

Unsure of what else to say, Dean reached back and squeezed one of Nicole's hands and simply said "It's going to be okay. We're going to figure it out," before turning to Sam and telling him to get them as far away from there as possible.

Several more hours down the road, Nicole was curling up asleep in the back seat and Sam and Dean rode in silence as the clock ticked closer to 2am.

"I think we're far enough away now, I'm going to pull into the next place I see and we can change the tags on the car, just in case." Sam broke the tense silence in the car and Dean grunted in acknowledgement.

"You alright?" Sam glanced sideways at his brother.

"Fine," Dean grunted. Sam knew he wasn't, but also wasn't willing to push the issue at 2AM. Knowing his brother, he probably help terrible for how he hadn't trusted Nicole in the beginning seeing how is caused her to hide how she had been struggling the last week from them. Once Dean got feeling guilty about something, it was hard to convince him otherwise. And not that his brother would admit it, but with how strong Sam knew his feelings for Nicole were, he was probably taking this harder than usual.

With a sign, Sam steered the Impala into the parking lot of the the run-down hotel on the side of the highway that looked like it might be "pay by the hour". They didn't have the luxury of being picky at the moment. When Sam came back from the office with their room keys, Dean gruffly handed him the bags to carry in while he gently lifted Nicole from the back seat, doing his best not to wake her. After hearing what had been going on with her recently, it struck Dean how little she had actually been sleeping because of her nightmares and her fear of losing control. Her crying seemed to have exhausted her and he wanted her to get as much interrupted sleep as she could.

As Dean laid her down in the bed closest to the door, his bed, he looked at Sam and remarked "We don't have anything for her to eat."

"Dean… you stay with her. I'll go."

"Come on, you drove all the way here. Just get some sleep."

Sam rolled his eyes at his brother. "When she wakes up, she isn't going to want me here. She's going to want you." He could see the confusion on Dean's face as he pulled the door shut behind him and smirked at the fact that his brother was an incredibly smart guy, but sometimes such an idiot.

It took Sam a couple hours to find an appropriate blood source that wouldn't draw more the the authorities attention if they were already investigating the break in back near Huntsville and his eyes were burning with tiredness when he finally made it back to their motel room. He hope that Dean would let them all sleep in tomorrow after the evening they had. The sun was just starting to peak over the horizon as he quietly unlocked the door in the early rays. Taking one moment to grin at the sight of Dean and Nicole wrapped tightly around each other dead asleep, Sam fell on to his own bed and pulled a pillow over his head. He would kill Dean is he woke him up.
