"How'd you track them here, the Flag Smashers." Sam stated it more than he asked.

"Uhm, no, we didn't track them, we tracked you..through..uh..Redwing" Hoskins admitted, looking only slightly sorry. Aubrey felt her temper rise as she shifted uncomfortably on the hard bench. She was sandwiched between Bucky and Sam, and the anger rolling off of Bucky in waves wasn't helping.

"You hacked my tech?"

"It's not exactly hacking, it's government property-" Walker chuckled, motioning to Hoskins and himself "- kind of the government."

Bucky's fiery gaze had landed on Walker the moment they'd gotten into the jeep and hadn't left his face since. His clenched fist rested on his leg and the urge to comfort him washed over her. Forcing the feelings away, Aubrey attempted to concentrate back on the conversation.

-"Basically just managing resources for the refugees who were displaced during the blip." Hoskins finished.

"The Global Repatriation Council does all that. So why exactly are you two here?"

"They provide the resources and we keep things stable-"

"Violet revolutionaries aren't really ever good for anyone's cause" Walker finished for his partner.

Sam gave them a response but Walker began talking again before she could say anything.

"Well we have a lot of resources. If you guys…If we joined up-"

"No" the word came out of both Aubrey's and Bucky's mouths in unison.

"You guys, I've got mad respect for both of y'all but you were kinda getting your asses kicked before we showed up."

"Who are you?" Bucky growled.

"Lemar Hoskins."

"Look, If I see a guy hanging out of a helicopter in tactical gear, we're gonna need a lot more than just Lemar Hoskins." Aubrey interjected, trying and failing to keep the bite from her voice.

"I'm Battlestar. John's partner." He didn't give them anything else, just his name and title.

"Battlestar?...-" a broken chuckle burst from his lips and after a few moments of hesitation, Bucky's voice rose "-Stop the car!"

It squealed to a halt as Bucky unhatched the door, climbing out. She was half a second behind him as Walker tried to recover.

"Look, I get it. I get the attitude. I do. You didn't think that the shield was gonna end up here. I get it, Bucky."

The asphalt was hard beneath her feet but not half as hard as her voice became when the biting words erupted from Aubrey's lips.

"You don't get to call him that. You don't get to come here and act all buddy-buddy. You aren't Cap and you will never live up to his legacy or his shield. Never-" She hissed, eyes locking onto his. "-So just stop." She felt Sam's stare and heard the thump of Bucky's feet as he pounded away. Her green gaze swung from Walker to Bucky as she took long strides to catch up with him. Her mind had just begun registering what she had said as fumes of anger swirled in her mind. Warning bells had begun going off in her head, there was something off about him that she just couldn't put her finger on. Bucky was moving robotically beside her and after a brief pause, Aubrey bumped her shoulder on his. He stiffened, icy blue eyes swiveling to her. A moment passed before he returned the familiar gesture.

"He's wrong. Everything he is and said is wrong" The words seemed to tear their way from his lips as they rounded a bend. An unintelligible emotion twisted in her chest as she heard the anguish in his voice.

"I know. I know Buck."

"Sam shouldn't have given the shield" he bit out quietly.

"It was his decision and it's in the past. You can't change it now, Buck."

"Brie" it was barely a word, more like a puff of air.

"Hmm?"

"Thank you…for being here.….I-" The sentence was cut off by a lighter gait. Sam.

"Always" she murmured just as Falcon caught up to them. She knew that Bucky had heard though because his shoulders had relaxed ever so slightly and his heavy gaze had returned to her.

"So…that went well, huh guys?-" Sam began in an attempt to make conversation. However, it was cut off by the both of them.

"Shut up, Sam."

The plane ride back was long and mostly quiet. Aubrey's eyes had remained on Bucky for a while. He had a haunted look on his face, a look she was all too familiar with. It was a look that was accompanied by memories and pain.

"There is someone you…both of you, should meet."

That was how they ended up in Baltimore, Maryland.

"Tell him the guy from the bar in Goyang is here..he'll know what that means" Bucky grumbled to the teen boy who'd answered the door. A rusted no trespassing sign was stuck onto the screen door but apparently they'd chosen to ignore it. Confusion swelled in Aubrey's mind as she watched Bucky's body language carefully. Whoever they were here to see wasn't someone he looked forward to interacting with.

"Buck?-" The words were just loud enough for him and his gaze flickered to hers as the teen closed the door, telling them to wait. "-who is this guy?...Do you know him?"

"I used to..We had a skirmish during the Korean War.-" he opened his mouth to say more but was cut off by the teen, the door creaked open.

"It's your lucky day, he says he wants to see for himself." pulling the door wider open, the boy let them in. A weathered man stood on the other side of the house, watching them with an unintelligible look. His gray, frazzled hair stood out in contrast to his somber face.

"Isaiah?" Bucky ventured as Aubrey and Sam followed him in, coming to a stop on the other side of the dining table.

"Look at you" was all Isaiah said.

"Isaiah…this is Aubrey and Sam, Aubrey and Sam, this is Isaiah…he was a hero…one of the one's Hydra feared the most….Like Steve….we…we uh met in '51"

Aubrey's eyes raked over the man, sensing a superhuman-like strength from him. There was more to this than Bucky had said and they all seemed to know it.

"If by met, you mean I whupped your ass, then, yeah. We heard whispers he was on the peninsula.-" his voice cracked "- But everyone they sent after him never came back. So the U.S dropped me behind the military line to go deal with him.-" the words became more passionate, blooming with anger. "-I took half that metal arm in the fight in Goyang…But I see he's managed to grow it back…I just wanted to see if he got the arm back or if he'd come to kill me."

Aubrey almost fell back in shock. She felt like her brain was seconds behind the conversation as she processed his words. He'd fought the Winter Soldier. Fought and lived, taken half of the arm even.

"I'm not a killer anymore" Bucky's voice was clear as he spoke the words but she heard the regret behind them.

"So you think you can wake up one day and decide who you wanna be? It doesn't work like that...Well, maybe it does for folks like you..-"

"Isaiah, the reason we're here…is because there's more of you, and me, and Aubrey out there.-"

"You and me?...and her?"

"-And we need to know how"

"I'm not going to talk about it anymore."

It was then that the full force of his words hit Aubrey.

Isaiah was a Super Soldier.
