Chapter 15

Dragon Miracles

The light entering the recovery room where Rainbow Dash had been sleeping in. It had been a while since Rainbow Dash had been awoken by the singing of birds after being in a cave for a week. It was the good old morning welcome of Ponyville. But not even the singing of birds would lift her spirits this time. Now that she would not be able to fly alongside them ever again. Despite that, she looked down to the sleeping filly cuddled up to her in bed. She had to be strong for her. She had to push herself to do more things that would not have to involve flying. Perhaps she could take up an extreme sport like how Scootaloo does with a scooter. Roller blades? Skate boarding? Something of the sort that would match her spirit. Maybe try to become a sky diving instructor. It would be the closest thing to feeling the speed she once flew with.

It had been a few days in the hospital. Word had spread through the city on how the doctors said that Rainbow Dash had lost the ability to fly. Some would send supportive gift baskets, flowers, and balloons to her room. Scootaloo would come to spend the night with Rainbow Dash whenever she could. She just wanted some small reassurance that she would not lose Rainbow Dash again.

Rainbow Dash looked to her bandaged wings, as useless as they were to her now in her mind. Now she could not even feel the pain in them from the soreness before. Perhaps that was proof that her wings were to remain flightless. That hardly troubled her now. She still had a filly to still be a role model to by not giving up being the best at being who she was. She just had to find some way to make this all work.

Nurse Redheart entered the room. She knew of the pegasus' current emotional state and tried to sensitive to what was said to her. "Did you rest well last night?" She asked hoping that a light conversation would help her mood.

Rainbow Dash just nodded while looking down at Scootaloo still sleeping next to her. She sighed as she thought about her own future and what to do with it.

"Let us test your physical health." Nurse Redheart said as she moved Rainbow Dash's foreleg. "Does this hurt?" She asked testing her state of being with what injuries she could still feel.

Rainbow Dash felt that either she was too emotionally devastated that she could not process pain at the moment or that she was healing quickly. She shook her head just the same.

Nurse Redheart then helped Rainbow Dash twist a little. "How about this?" She tested. The same as before Rainbow Dash shook her head. "My, you seem to be healing quick. You might be able to leave the hospital soon if this luck holds out." She complimented.

This brought a small smile to Rainbow Dash that made her feel like she was tough enough to heal fast.

Nurse Redheart continued with the other limbs to test their condition. Surprisingly, they all seemed to be working without trouble or pain. "I'll leave your wings alone just in case they need more time. But for, I will just change their bandages. Since your other limbs seem to be doing fine, I think we can unbandage them." She said as she started to unwrap them carefully.

During this procedure, Scootaloo woke up to see Rainbow Dash having her bandages taken off. Morning Rainbow Dash." She said as she stretched out. "Are they going to let you out of the hospital?"

"Heh, looks like it. You know I am too tough to stay in a hospital for long." She said with a bit more spirit. Nurse Redheart was glad to see this small improvement. "When we get out, let's go hang out go hang out and have some ice cream."

"Really?!" Scootaloo said excitedly as she would spend more time with Rainbow Dash.

"Why not? I think I deserve a day to just relax. I'll even tell you all about how I got back here… uh, on my own." She said remembering her promise to the dragon stallion.

"Is she okay for Rainbow Dash to leave?" Asked Scootaloo to Nurse Red heart.

"As soon as I report to the doctor to have her released. Then you two can go on to do whatever you want. But he may prescribe that you use a wheelchair just as a precaution." She said as she suspected that the doctor would allow it as long as the pegasus would take it easy. She left the room after finishing changing Rainbow Dash's wing bandages and removing the other ones on her body.

Rainbow Dash felt her spirits lower when she would have to be in a wheelchair. Even though it was just for her to take it easy for her body to heal, it still hurt whatever pride she had left.

Scootaloo then hugged Rainbow Dash tightly. "I'm so glad you are home." She said trying not to cry.

Rainbow Dash held the filly close. "So am I, squirt."

Dragonbond had watched and listened from his spot on the outskirts of town nearest to the hospital. He was relieved that this day was the one where she leaves the hospital. He had to focus his hearing on the open window to their room. He had heard them say that she was not sore anymore from the injuries. It seemed like the healing trick worked, but to how far it had healed her was another thing that remained to be seen. He waited as they were both released from the hospital. He would lose them if he did not get in there and follow them, but he needed a disguise. He knew that the pegasus and her friends would recognize him quickly. He then noticed a house that was being painted over and that the painters had left their supplies as they were retrieving their other tools from their cart. This was Dragonbond's chance to get his disguise.

Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo had reached the ice cream shop with Scootaloo helping anyway she could by starting to push the wheelchair to bring them to the ice cream shop. Rainbow Dash didn't mind if it was Scootaloo rather than any other pony. She would have some dignity to wheel herself to wherever she wanted to go. They sat at a table to have their ice cream as Rainbow Dash told her about her version of how she got back to Ponyville after the fight with the big bad dragon stallion. She even told that she had given him a good beating. After they were done, they had left the shop and were trying to decide on what to do next as they traveled down the street.

Dragonbond was following them at a distance and made sure not to look to suspicious as he did. He had painted himself a bright yellow color with the mark on his flank that resembled a raindrop. He did not care much what mark he had as long as it was quick and easy to make. Then he blended into the crowds as no one was the wiser about who or what he was.

Somehow, he had to cause some sort of situation to have her fly. Then one mischievous idea came to mind that gave him a grin that almost touched ear to ear. He then flew up into the air and waited for the right moment.

Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo decided to just go to the stream and hang out. "So, what will you do now?" Scootaloo asked breaking the silence. She was worried about what the mare would do when she couldn't fly that much anymore.

Rainbow Dash sighed as she thought about it. "I don't know Scoots. Maybe I'll try to find a job with hang gliding. It may not be flying, but at least I can still do awesome tricks with that kind of thing."

"Do you think you can get me free lessons if you do?" Scootaloo asked excited about the idea.

Rainbow Dash chuckled at the filly's question. "I'm sure I can pull some strings given who I am… or at least who I was." She said a little downhearted about that statement.

"You still are who you were to me." Scootaloo tried to encourage her role model.

This brought a small smile to Rainbow Dash's lips. "Thanks sport." She said grateful for Scootaloo's words. "In fact, I can still do a lot of cool stuff as a job. Racing, extreme sports, or something like that. Maybe become a great explorer or even a monster hunter. Oh, how about some pony who goes around helping towns from their problems." Rainbow Dash said starting to feel that being unable to fly would not keep her from doing other great things with the other talents she had.

Scootaloo was becoming over enthusiastic about hearing about all these possibilities. Especially about being a monster hunter. She could imagine Rainbow Dash someday becoming the world's best monster hunter. "You should definitely be a monster hunter! Then I can be your trainee monster hunting student and one day hunt monsters down with you as your partner!" she said excited about the idea.

Rainbow Dash laughed finding the filly's encouragement amusing. "Well we'll see if I can land the job when I get better. I will have to ask Twilight if she has any books on hunting monsters. I would have to learn about all their weaknesses so I can take the down easily." She said. Soon they came to the stream and Scootaloo stopped the chair by the bank of the stream. "Well let's start relaxing, kiddo."

"Alright." Scootaloo said helping Rainbow Dash out from her chair. She would then leap into the stream and splash around.

Rainbow Dash didn't go too deep into the water in order to keep her wings from any stress to move around too much. Scootaloo helped her out of the chair and assisted her into the water. Rainbow Dash knew Scootaloo didn't look down on Rainbow Dash any less just like before. This made her smile to see that the filly respected her this much. Just like a real little sister. Rainbow Dash was starting to relax as she sat in the stream just letting her worries wash away.

Speeding down like an arrow, Dragonbond landed right behind Rainbow Dash making a ground shaking landing. Right after he let out a load roar scaring Rainbow Dash. She shrieked and leaped fifty feet into the air. Scootaloo jumped out of the water and fled into the closest bush after hearing the sudden roar.

Rainbow Dash was clinging onto a cloud high above and shaking. Dragonbond chuckled seeing the high strung pegasus finding the sight of her hilarious. She looked like a cat that was scared out of its wits. Now to make her fly. He knew her well enough that she had an ego as fragile as a string of a spider web. "So much for being the most awesome pony of this land." Dragonbond hollered up at her and changing the tone and accent of his voice a bit.

Rainbow Dash looked down confused about what just happened but soon realized that it was some random pony mocking and pranking her. Her temper boiled passed the limit and her face went red. Steam coming out her ears she pointed down at the unknown pony. "You are so dead buster!" She shouted in rage. Forgetting her current condition due from the blind rage she was in. She flew down with only one thought in mind. Wring the neck of this stallion, whoever he was.

"Catch me if you can, Rainbow Ass." Dragonbond said taunting her with an expression of mockery. He shook his head and crossed his eyes while his tongue stuck out making obnoxious sounds. He then took off with the plan of making her give chase to see if her wings had their original strength.

If there was any state of fury passed the limit, Rainbow Dash had reached it. "COME BACK HERE AND SAY THAT YOU WALKING PILE OF HORSE CRAP!" She shouted in an uncontrollable rage. She then let go of the cloud and flew as fast as she could wanting to relieve her stress and anger around the stallion's neck.

Scootaloo watched in shock at both the language she heard Rainbow Dash used and that fact that she saw Rainbow Dash flying at full speed and strength.

Dragonbond didn't want to give away how abnormally fast he ran compared to a normal pony. So, he took off through the woods making sharp turns. He leaped and slid over, under, and through obstacles in the way and would occasionally look back to see how well Rainbow Dash flew as she chased him.

Dragonbond was able to keep a distance from Rainbow Dash as he parkoured through the forest. Running up and over fallen trees, through bushes, and wall kicked up trees to make it even more difficult for Rainbow Dash. This would also test her wing agility.

Rainbow Dash however, she was growing more infuriated as he kept eluding her and flew faster to try and catch up to him. She finally flew up above the trees to try and spot him using her peripheral vision to catch any sort of movement for the yellow stallion. His color would be easy to spot from the green foliage of the trees.

Seeing enough, Dragonbond was going to allow her to catch him so she could calm down to finally realize what he had been doing.

Rainbow Dash then saw him make across the open plains. That was her chance to dive down a straight shot and tackle him from behind.

The two soon collided and tumbled over each other across the grass until Rainbow Dash pinned him down as she glared at him like a wild animal. She was snorting out steam from her nostrils as she was still incredibly angry at him. "You just signed your death warrant, bub." She growled as she had every intention to break this stallion.

Dragonbond was not so intimidated as this was going according to plan. "Funny, I thought I heard from other ponies that you couldn't fly anymore." He said with a raised brow.

"You don't need to rub it in! I just can't fly pass my limi…" Rainbow Dash paused for a moment after it finally hit her. "Wait a minute." She looked back at her wings and then looked back at how far away she had flown from the town. Confusion and shock hit her all at once as her vengeful anger had vanished. "Was I… Did I… How did I… What did…" She continued to stutter trying to piece it all together through her state of confusion.

Without a moment to spare, Dragonbond blew out smoke from his mouth to cover them in smoke. Rainbow Dash gagged and coughed from the thick smoke. This gave Dragonbond the chance to break from her grip on him and make a speedy getaway before the smoke could clear.

After the smoke cleared, Rainbow Dash found that the stallion was long gone. She didn't feel the need to chase him anymore as she discovered something far more important. "I can fly." She said in a shaky and shocked tone. She then blasted from the ground and into the air feeling nothing wrong with her wings. In fact, they felt as if they were freshly made new wings she had grown anew. "I CAN FLY!" She shouted to the heavens soaring through the clouds faster as she ever had before. Once high enough, she flew into a dive over towards Ponyville.

Through the breaking of some clouds. The ponies of the town started to hear the sound of something soaring through the air at a fast speed. The Cakes on their routine routes, Derpy as she delivered mail, Lyra, and Bon Bon as they sat on a bench. They all started wondering what that sound could have been as they searched the skies. Applejack was selling apples from a cart with Apple Bloom when they took notice of the flying pegasus. Neither of them thought it was Rainbow Dash since they both knew she couldn't fly anymore. "Who in tarnation is that?" Applejack asked confused.

Scootaloo was nearby as she knew who it was since she saw her able to fly. "It's Rainbow Dash!" she shouted with joyous excitement.

"What?!" Applejack asked in shock and disbelief. That was until Rainbow Dash hit her speed limit to create a sonic rainboom.

"It is Rainbow Dash! She can fly again!" Apple Bloom said shocked with happiness for the pegasus. Every pony looked up or out their windows to see the sonic rainboom. This also included the rest of Rainbow Dash's friends.

Rainbow Dash looked back behind her with a wide grin on her face seeing the sonic rainboom ripple over Ponyville. Her wings still felt as strong and fast as ever before. "YEAH!" She cried out feeling energized by the feeling of flying once more. She flew up into the view of the sun before dropping back into a dive heading back down towards the town.

When Pinkie saw this, she screamed overexcited and overjoyed to see her friend was flying as she once did. "Rainbow Dash woo hoo! Time for a Rainbow-Dash-is-Flying party!" Pinkie Pie said shooting her cannon to blast out party decorations in an open spot to create the, said party.

Twilight rushed out hearing all the commotion from her tree library and was shocked in disbelief. This was all so illogical and impossible to her. She had seen the x-rays from the doctors and she agreed as far as the doctors were concerned that she would not be able to fly as she once did. Even Zecora said that this was impossible for her to recover from. Even if her wings could heal, it would take many months for the wing to completely heal. But her wing seemed to miraculously recover in just one night. She tried to ration that it was some trick, but the one groundbreaking fact was that no one could do a sonic rainboom except Rainbow Dash. Stranger yet to Twilight, was that Rainbow Dash was continuing to fly with no trouble. Twilight began to go through a mental breakdown. "B-b-b-b-ut how?" she asked herself in disbelief and confusion.

"Look out below!" Rainbow Dash called out zooming right passed Twilight. The vacuum pull of the wind behind the pegasus caused Twilight's mane and tail to stick in one direction before becoming frazzled as she still had her shocked and confused expression on her face. Spike couldn't help but laugh at the way she looked.

Despite the medical staff seeing this impossible turn of events for Rainbow Dash, they were relieved to see that she somehow recovered from her injuries. It was nothing short of a miracle to them and every pony that had heard of the once injured pegasus' condition.

Scootaloo was hopping around filed with joy for Rainbow Dash as she kept repeating that the pegasus could fly. During her little cheering, Rainbow Dash had swooped down and snatched the filly from the ground to take her out for a flight.

Rainbow Dash held onto Scootaloo with one tight grip of her forehoof as they surfed the skies. "You are the greatest Dash! You beat your injuries to fly again!" Scootaloo said hugging her role model hero. Tears formed from the filly's eyes as the wind from the flight would quickly blow them off and dry any streaks left on her eyes.

"Heh, of course I did. I'm the greatest pony ever. I have to be so I can keep inspiring you to be the best." Rainbow Dash said. She didn't even know how she recovered so fast, but that hardly mattered now. She took it for what it was as a second chance. Besides that, she had a filly to inspire to be the best just like herself.

Ponies of the town decided to partake in the party Pinkie Pie and set up for her friend. They drank and gave cheers for Rainbow Dash not just for her speedy recovery, but also that she survived the battle of the creature they were after. It was one miracle after another as they heard she managed to come all the way back on her own with all the injuries she had taken.

Dragonbond looked from the outskirts of town in the woods. He saw that his theory had proven correct to heal the pony's wings. This was not for himself or the blue pegasus, but for the young filly. He couldn't leave her role model broken along with the dreams and inspirations Rainbow Dash gave the young pony. Seeing his work was done, Dragonbond began to leave through the forest as a safer way from being found out. Also, he needed to find a place to clean himself from the paint still on him.

Traveling deeper into the woods, Dragonbond found an isolated stream. This would be tricky to wash himself with. He needed to make sure there was no trace of the paint that would wash off him either on the ground or in the pond. He would need to make a separate pool for himself to bathe in. next would divert some water of the stream into the pool and close it off when he had the right amount of water. After cleaning himself, he would use his fire breath to burn and dry the water away. When this was complete, Dragonbond would cover the empty pool back up to cover any trace of the washed off paint.

Back in town after Rainbow Dash calmed down from her miraculous recovery, her friends gathered around her overjoyed that her friend was back to her original self. Twilight was still reeling from the shock that Rainbow Dash made some kind of instant recovery seemingly overnight.

Rainbow Dash landed in front of her friends. "Look who is back in action." She said as proudly as she stood in front of them all.

Applejack rolled her eyes but still smiling. "Yeah, yeah. Not ta mention yer ego is back in action as well." The farmer said as she let this pass since her friend had been through a lot.

"this just goes to show you not even a big bad dragon stallion can keep me down. I am destined to be the most awesome pony ever." This time Applejack was getting more irritated by this boost in ego.

"Alright darling, you don't need to push it any further." Rarity said sharing Applejack's sense of irritation.

"Oh, come on, I mean look at me. I was going to be a flightless cripple, but I recovered just like that." The hotshot said proudly of her speedy recovery as if it was her doing.

"That's just it. No pony could do that on their own. Especially from that kind of nerve damage. There must have been something a doctor gave you last night for this to happen. Maybe Zecora heard about your condition and gave you a potion last night without anyone noticing." Twilight tried to rationalize.

Scootaloo thought about the dream she had last night or at least she assumed it was a dream. "I dream I saw a pony about to leave the window last night. I think I was dreaming, because when I rubbed my eyes to look again, the pony was gone. Maybe it wasn't a dream." She said.

"Aha! I found a lead!" Twilight began to rub her hooves together in a mischievous way. "I will go to the scene of the crime and then find the clues I need to interrogate all my suspects." She laughs in a somewhat maniacal manner. She puts on a sleuth hat and rushes off towards the hospital. She only stopped for a moment to call back. "The truth will be revealed!" Twilight continued her journey to the hospital.

The others stared after the stressed unicorn. "Wowie, that pony is loony toony." Pinkie said spinning her eyes in different directions. Applejack rolled her eyes thinking Pinkie was one to talk about acting crazy.

Scootaloo then remembered they left the hospital wheelchair back at the bank of the stream. "Oh no, we left the wheelchair at the stream."

"Heh, don't worry squirt. I can get it and back in seven seconds flat." Rainbow Dash said confidently with her wings back to the way they were.

"No, let us do it. Maybe we can get our cutie marks in retrieving wheelchairs for the hospital." Apple Bloom said with another plan to get a cutie mark.

"Hey, that sounds fun. We can ride them back to the hospital when ponies are done with them." Sweetie Belle said finding it interesting.

"Cutie Mark Crusader wheelchair retrievers, yay!" The three fillies clapped their hooves together and followed Scootaloo to where they left the wheelchair. The mares allowed them to go since it was not too far off from the town.

Eventually, the three fillies reached the wheelchair still sitting by the stream. They all got on the seat as the ones sitting on the ends would push on the wheels to get the chair moving. Unfortunately, it was hard when one of them was not in sync with the other when pushing the wheels to make it move properly. The chair would start turning the wrong way, spinning around, or even start going more backwards than forwards.

The fillies started arguing on how to move the chair. "Hey, you're pushing the wheel too fast." "No, you're pushing it too slow." "You're both going to make us fall over!" "Push it forward!" "Push it back." "Which way is forward?" I don't know, I never driven this before." They continued to argue on how to use a wheelchair.

With a final attempt to make the chair go forward, they ended up making it spin before having it throw them off and tip over. Apple Bloom rubbed her head from the landing and the dizziness. "Maybe we aren't cut out for this talent."

"You think?" Sweetie Belle deadpanned.

Scootaloo stood up and rubbed her back. Then her eyes caught sight of some marks on the ground. She made a closer inspection. "Hey, these might be the hoof prints left by that mean jerk who scared us."

"What about them?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"What if we can get our marks by tracking down criminals?" Scootaloo suggested.

"Ah don't think scaring others is a crime." Apple Bloom pointed out.

Scootaloo scoffed. "It is when you try and scare the greatest pony in Equestria." Scootaloo said trying to validate her reason. Her friends looked to each other skeptically about their friend's logic. "We could either get tracking cutie marks or bringing in criminals."

"Fine, we can give it a try." Apple Bloom said not wanting to drag this argument on. She guessed they could give it a shot.

Scootaloo was wanting to get back more at who ever tried to scare them out of their wits. "Cutie Mark Crusaders Criminal Hunters!" She exclaimed.

"Um, don't you mean trackers?" Sweety Belle asked.

"Yeah, yeah. That too." Scootaloo said as she was more focused on hunting this pony down. They started following the tracks of this pony they were tracking down. Little did they know how far these tracks led out into the deep woods away from their town.

Time passed as Dragonbond formed a personal pool for him to bath in. He used his fire breath to heat up the pool to a scolding temperature the burn the paint off his coat, fur, and hair. It felt uncomfortable to his liking to have to wear the paint as a disguise. He would prefer mud over paint any day if he could. At least mud was more natural. When he was finished, he closed the path of water that ran into his pool. Then used his fire breath to dry up the last of the water in the pool before pushing all the dirt back in the hole to cover up any trace of the washed off paint.

Dragonbond found a long patch of grass to start rolling in to give himself a natural fresh scent. Finally, he shook all the grass from his mane and body and flapped his wings to dry off any wet spot he had left on him. The beating of his wings blew out around him with loose plants and twigs flying off into the woods.

He felt this day was a great accomplishment. He proved his honor for himself, his dragon father, and his dragon clan. He also helped save a filly's inspiration and role model in her life. He had a weakness to help children when they needed it. Just like the younglings in his clan when he would need to give them classes on flying.

Now was time for him to return to the desert. Dragonbond flew up above the trees to head back in the direction of the desert lands.

The crusaders had been on the trail for a while. Sometimes they were finding some traces of dried yellow paint on the grass and plants that passed by them as they followed the tracks of the pony that had pranked Rainbow Dash earlier.

"Um, girls? Are you sure we should be out this far? We've seemed to be heading away from town for a while." Sweetie Belle said with caution. She recalled their last fiasco when they tried looking for a hen out in the Everfree Forest.

"Relax. We can just follow the tracks back. These tracks look like they are going in one direction even though they are turning different ways." Scootaloo said self-assured that it would be simple to head back the way they came.

"Well hopefully it doesn't get dark out here later." Apple Bloom hoped it would not take that long in their search. She gazed at the sky to check the time of day. It was still late in the morning and that settled her nerves a bit seeing they had a lot of time to spend out in the woods.

"We'll find this big bully in no time. He's an earth pony, so there is no way he can hide out here for long." Scootaloo assumed of their targeted outlaw. Soon they came upon an open meadow of grass. The tracks seemed to have led straight forward. "I think we are getting close. I can feel it in my feathers." She said full of confidence.

"I hope so. We are pretty farm from town. I just hope no pony is worried about us." Sweetie Belle said knowing they would be in trouble if their families knew they were out this far from home.

They ventured out into the meadow. Little did they notice a shadow dash about behind them from the woods.

The crusaders followed closely to the ground where the tracks were leading them. They continued to lead in a straight line through the meadow.

Something watched them through the blades of grass of the meadow. A small growl was made and caused the girls to perk up their heads in alert. They looked around to see if that was the sound of a creature nearby or just perhaps something from nature just causing their imaginations to run wild. They shook their heads and continued on the trail.

Soon enough, they found that something looked like it had crashed into the ground and skidded across the dirt to a halt. Oddly, there was the soot of what looked like smoke. There was no trace of burned plants to hint there was something burning. Even stranger still, the tracks seemed to have stopped at the crash site.

"Hey what gives? Where did that guy go?" Scootaloo said confused as she tried circling around to try and find any hint of to run away stallion. "The tracks end here. How could they have vanished? It's like he sprouted wings and flew away." Scootaloo said in frustration that they wouldn't be able to find the stallion now.

"Well I guess you can cross cutie mark trackers off the list." Sweetie Belle said in disappointment when she saw that their flanks were still blank.

Scootaloo was more upset that they wouldn't find the so-called fugitive. "Well we should get back. We've been gone for far too long." Apple Bloom advised. She didn't want to spend any more time out in the wild more than they had to

"Hmph, fine." Scootaloo said in disappointment. There was no sense in trying if the trail went cold and the fact that they were not professional trackers. They turned to follow the trail back in the direction of the town.

A swishing noise came from behind them. They halted when they heard the sudden sound. "Did ya hear that?" Apple Bloom asked with her ears alert as she tried to focus on where the sound came from.

"M-maybe it was a bunny." Sweetie Belle suggested since it was a large field of grass. She tried to convince herself that it wasn't anything else. That was until they heard a swift rustling off to the side. This time they swore that they saw a shadow break the surface of the grass. Sweetie Belle began to doubt it was no animal less the size of a bunny at all.

Scootaloo's ears folded back in fear of the unknown that was making sounds and movement among the grass. "I think we should just go home now." She said with a shaky voice. She was starting to deeply regret ever coming out this far at all.

Then they heard something drawing close towards them. The grass was blocking the view of whatever was coming out at them. They started to see what looked like stick above the grass surface. There was also a mound which they assumed was the rest of the body. It was big and was coming straight at them.

The girls whimpered and huddled together in a frightened embrace as the figure moved closer and was about to come out of the grass to reveal itself. It's head suddenly raised up causing the girl's eyes to shrink as they gasped in shock.
