A/N: This is just an Epilogue I quickly put together in order to wrap everything up. Regarding the Story, is this the end? Of this particular Story, yes. As I stated in the previous Chapter, I'm considering making a Sequel. Hell, I'm already working on a Prequel. By the way, you should take the time to check that out, so long as you've watched Overlord and Doctor Who.
Since this is the last Chapter, I'm asking you all that made it all the way through this Story from start to finish to leave me a Review and let me know what your concerning the Story. What'd you think as a whole? Did you not like certain Chapters? Did you think certain areas were lacking? Just let me know.
Act II is out now!
Epilogue: Needed Nor Wanted
And so the same Courier who was always so prideful on the fact that she was never once forced to recoil from a fight, who never once showed any fear or reluctance when facing a supposedly unstoppable enemy and any other that were foolish enough to engage the Companions, was only presented with the option to abandon Remnant and its people, wishing she was stronger the whole time. Once again, the Mojave, and now Remnant, were forever changed.
The Legion, even while continuing to suffer from the effects that came with losing Hoover Dam to the might of the NCR for a second time, managed to nearly assume total control over Vale and everyone who didn't manage to escape. Small resistance pockets continue to fight even now. Without any support, it's estimated they won't last much longer.
Even with the superior technology they possessed, Atlas was unable to keep up resistance against the Legion's superior numbers. As soon as the fighting started, civilians numbering in the thousands were executed, then more, and the slaughter would only continue from there.
The other three Kingdoms, all shocked to get involved in such a surprising and unwarranted conflict, continue to fight against the Legion's forces. Though Atlas and the Kingdoms manage to gain multiple victories against the Legion, weakness starts to show more and more as the war rages on.
Entire cities and other important territories eventually fell to the Legion. In that moment it was clear that the only chance Remnant possessed at victory lied with the Courier, who prior to returning to Vegas, promised Ruby and everyone else that she would return to Remnant and find a way to free it from the Legion at all costs.
It was a promise she would not find easy to make good on. Thanks to Cinder and Torchwick, the Legion now possibly possesses even more men than the NCR, Brotherhood, and the Great Khans's forces combined. Even with the Courier's Securitrons acting as support, she was smart enough to understand they could never free Remnant alone.
For now she has no immediate options other than to stay inside the Lucky 38 with the other Companions, old and new. There she continues to devise new plans and strategies concerning how they could possibly take back another world. The answer to victory is somewhere in Vegas, that much she knows.
Boone, who would always be remembered for his contributions to the NCR for years to come, was buried not far from Rex's grave. Ruby, who now wears his beret, offered to return it to his body. The Courier refused, saying that it shouldn't go to waste. Boone would not be avenged until the last Legionnaire was dead.
Arcade, thinking that the only way they can gain victory over the Legion is by creating new technology, left for Big Mountain. Always happy to have new visitors, Mobius gladly donated any equipment necessary to his projects. Currently his results are promising. The absence of Arcade proved to put quite the dent in Freeside's overall security. More of the Kings and Securitrons were sent out to keep the local population safe. Aside from the Courier, Boone's death had been the hardest on him.
Finally realizing that his old age was beginning to slow him down and continued stress would soon turn him feral, Raul decided to retire indefinitely. He hopes that the remainder of his life will consist of nothing aside from remembering the Old World and relaxing inside of the lucky 38.
With a new purpose, Chalk returned with Joshua to Zion, bringing his own men with him as well. To win a war you need Soldiers, men who are willing to fight and die for a cause. The two of them continue to train more Dead Horses, Sorrows, and have resorted to seeking aid from the other surrounding tribes.
At the Courier's request, and because there proved to be no more traces of the Old World, Ulysses agreed to stay in Vegas with the Companions. Once being a follower of Caesar, finding himself any form of employment has been easier said than done. However, the once misguided man always has a place with the Courier.
Dean Domino, entertainer, singer, thief, suffered no notable changes with his life. Part of him still considers the idea of joining the Courier when she leads the fight to retake Remnant. But not to assist with the fighting itself, but to use it as a distraction to relieve the place of its valuables. It is truly as they say, old habits die hard.
Cassidy, for a reason no one is entirely sure of, offered to remain in Vale to keep the fight against the Legion alive and strong. The Courier, unwilling to lose another loved one, rejected the suicidal idea. When the battle came they would need to fight in it together.
Much of team RWBY, JNPR, along with all of the other teams that manged to evacuate, took full advantage of the new world around them. Some took the opportunity to research the Mojave's history, others wanted to impact it themselves, but most chose to continue their training so they would be strong enough to defeat the Legion. Speaking of the Legion, many of Beacon's students sought the Courier for information concerning their weaknesses.
Ruby was given a unique opportunity. One to fill in a spot for a dead Companions. So many in Vegas would kill for the chance to join the Courier in her travels. They all wondered why a little girl was gifted the offer when it should have been one of them instead. Team RWBY's leader gladly accepted the new position. Armed with her Crescent Rose and Boone's beret, she continues to prove herself to be a one of a kind asset.
Coco and Velvet were both saddened when they heard the news that Fox and Yatsuhashi, the other two members of CFVY, didn't manged to escape through Remnant's exit. All they can do is to continue to hope that wherever they are, they're somewhere safe and giving the Legion a hell of a time.
Lily, who to this day still hasn't left the Mojave Outpost for some unknown reason, was confused as to why there was no an influx of civilians all across Vegas and the surrounding areas. She considered taking the long walk back to the 38, but chose to instead remain at the outpost, feeling inclined to for some reason.
Thanks to the new fighters, Red Lucy and the rest of the Thorn continue to thrive more than the Strip itself. However, with the new warriors comes the need for more creatures to slay. The Courier is always willing to deliver tribute to the woman who taught her what it means to be a true warrior.
With his mission now accomplished, Malcolm returned to Remnant, where the open arms of the Legion were waiting to meet him. For his service as a spy, all charges were dropped, and entry into the Legion's ranks were permitted. Seeing no alternative, Malcolm accepted.
The Boomers made promises to help in anyway they can. You of course must take into account the obvious fact that transporting each and everyone of their Howitzers into uncharted territory is much easier said than done. Still, when the battle comes they won't dare miss it.
With their Cousins up in Boston becoming evermore powerful as each day continues to pass by, the Mojave chapter of the Brotherhood feel they need to expand further and further across the Mojave. In fact they're even given permission from Courier Six to set up their very own embassy in Vegas.
Against the NCR's wishes of course. Remember, she still has a Securitron army. At the end of the day that makes for one massive bargaining chip. Now that the Brotherhood has more territory in the Mojave, Six hopes that they will stop asking for access to the Big MT.
After accepting the Courier's proposal she made in the middle of their retreat from Vale, she and Veronica were officially wedded. Most of Vegas attended the event, including General Oliver Lee, the King, Red Lucy, all of the Companions who were still in the Mojave at the time, Coco and Velvet, team RWBY and JNPR, and so many others gathered around to watch two legends declare their love for each other until death would do them apart.
Before retreating to the Mojave, the Courier made sure to grab one important item. One that would change the Mojave for years to come. Just as it did when she arrived. The folder containing the plan that Cinder had created proved to be beneficial for all.
After returning to the Sierra Madre with a large squad of Soldiers, and also making sure to greet Christine one last time, the Courier started to transport the Madre's advanced technology all the way to Vegas. These included the Vending Machines, which would provide Vegas with nearly unlimited resources, the Holograms, which were useful for obvious reasons, every single Auto-Doc, and anything else that could provide some use.
She never once considered the idea that Father Elijah proposed. Weaponizing the Cloud. She would never stoop to a level as low as utilizing chemical warfare. Luckily, Elijah's corpse was still rotting somewhere in the vault. Not that Six would ever let Veronica know that.
Christine, after watching over the Madre for so long, made the choice to finally leave the Madre. But she wasn't going to return to the Mojave. She told the Courier that she needed to go elsewhere. Apparently there was some action in Chicago she wanted to get involved in. It was most likely confidential Brotherhood information.
After saying one last goodbye to Christine, the Courier returned to Vegas and commenced a long and fragile operation to improve it in ways only the scientists at Big Mountain thought was possible. But as much as it was, as much as it increased successful odds, everyone, especially Six, knows to well it isn't enough to win a war on its own.
Because even with Vegas's vastly superior technology, even with so many Soldiers that stand at its side, and even with so many new and eager Recruits willing to sacrifice themselves so long as it can provide them with even the smallest chance to liberate Remnant and save Vale's people from the Legion, no one can ever truly predict any war's possible outcomes. And war... war never changes.
