Rebecca
They looked at each other with a sense of despair. The job was far from done but they had already done too much. It already felt like they had just as long of a mission a seemingly endless night tonight as they had felt in the mansion. "We have to get out of here, Chris! We can't let Raymond get away with this."
"Rebecca..." He groaned. "I'm tired..."
"Tired? What are you saying? We can't give up now. We can't let Raymond get away. None of them!"
"They've got us ..I want you to get out of here...I do...but me I'm screwed either way. I'm tired of fighting."
"Chris what's wrong with you?! We don't give up!"
"I keep surviving and for what? I killed Wesker so did Sheva but she's still got her life ahead of her. Me, I'm getting old. I was too old last year but I didn't listen to my own gut to just retire from this. I gave Piers the idea that he should replace me. There really wasn't a better person for it. The things he survived in Europe and China...put what I went through in Raccoon and even the Arctic to shame."
"Even if that was true you still killed Wesker. You helped save the world and you saved millions of African lives. It's hard over there but you stopped it from getting a lot worse."
"I'm only saying that those missions with him proves he was better than I was in my pre BSAA days...but all of that doesn't matter. I almost think that by telling him he should replace me I killed him. And the fact that he died in my place tells me what was supposed to happen to me."
"Chris, that's not true and I know you stayed with the BSAA to honor his memory. It's different this time. But you've put in an extra year of work. If it's too much for you, you should just quit."
"I can't...but yet that's the thing. Staying in ended me up here. And maybe this is where I'm supposed to be but now I know a secret I can't let die with me yet. Or you could carry them on..."
"It doesn't matter what it is, Chris. You can tell me if you want to but you're not going to die. I need your help to survive. We can make it out of here."
She sighed and said, "But...after this mission...I don't know if I want to be on the front lines anymore. I'd like to think I'm still young...even though I'm in my early thirties...but I don't think I've got too much more fight left in me myself. I may want to give this up. I...I think Terra Save might be more my speed."
"My sister works there..." He smiled. "I'll give you a letter of recommendation."
They began to look for a way out. "It'd help us get out sooner if we knew where we were locked up..."
"It looks like some kind of supply closet but this is a mall. It isn't the only one."
"I still can't fuckin believe it. Lansdale!" Chris said with gritted teeth. There was nothing within reach that either of them could use to undo their hand ties. This particular kind of rope was strong too. It seemed like a higher grade than your average rope.
Suddenly, the door was kicked down. Chris braced himself looking at the entrance thinking that the tyrant they had faced may have been on its way in. Instead, what he saw was a face he had not seen before and yet looked familiar.
"Chris..." The voice said, a male. Chris squinted at the light. He looked and saw piles of BOW's at the man's feet and they were remnants from the island that Claire had faced. "Who wants to know?" He asked. The man came in and undid their restraints. "I thought you'd seen my face before but then I guess not. You didn't stick around in Antarctica to see me and I guess by the time the doors popped, I was already outta there."
"Steve?"
"Yeah...wish we were meeting under different circumstances but I'd rather it be here than me being naked and cradled by your sister...you know what happened but it might have looked like something else..." He said and Chris glared at him. "What are you doing here, Steve?"
"Right. Might as well get to it. Claire and Moira. They were on their way to their vacation but an infection broke out in Cottage Grove, Oregon. I brought her here. She was bitten and so was Moira cause I knew there was an infection going on here and I knew the BSAA would have vaccines. There's no relief out there."
"What?! You can't be serious..." He sighed and stood up staggering and he helped Rebecca up and the two had to grip the walls to get used to standing due to the blood circulation. He then panted. "But I guess that explains how you're still alive. Wesker said you might come back one day..."
"Yeah he was telling the truth. We can get more into that later. I know Claire wants to go back there and I can't let her. The BSAA might not have gotten a call yet or maybe all your efforts are being put into this place...but it looks like the entire county out there is infected. We met up with a group of survivors..." He looked at Rebecca's nametag. "You're Agent Chambers?"
"Yeah. How did you know that?"
"Uh...I don't know if I should be the one to tell you this but you have an old friend down there. He's still behind helping the other survivors but it's bad 's a town of 9000 people and almost everybody is infected. I need to get back there because I can't really help everybody and there could be people that I haven't even found yet that may need help but I know there are still survivors. They need a few parts to get on a plane outta there. There's a small airfield there."
"Where is my sister?" Demanded Chris.
"She's alive. She's here. Her friend Moira was bitten by the zombies. She went to look for the cure."
"You sent her by herself?!"
"Chris, she's survived at least two outbreaks. Hasn't she proven she's able to handle herself?"
"You never stop worrying about family..." Rebecca stated.
"I gave her a few guns. She didn't have much on her. I didn't want to leave her behind and if I hadn't taken her out of there she'd have died. But I also didn't want to abandon the people of Cottage Grove."
"All right. Let's say I believe you. Why are you alive? I know you had the T Veronica virus in your blood and Wesker said you might come back someday. But that doesn't really explain you being up and running around. Somebody would have had to have brought you back. You would have been too weak to come back."
"You can't really believe that, Redfield. Wesker was killed by the tyrant and all he had was the Virus in him. The T Veronica is more powerful but I didn't know my own strength. And he didn't bring me back right away."
"But if you've been around all this time there's no way Wesker kept you around. You had to have been up to no good."
"I wasn't. There's blood on my hands. I killed people that didn't deserve it. For Wesker. I started ten years ago...I didn't want to do it. At first..." He lifted up his sweater showing the scar similar to P30 that Jill had. He had it closer to his neck. Like a collar. "But I had it on for...two years...after that Wesker took it off. I got so used to the feeling of killing people that by then he figured I wouldn't need it anymore. And for a long time I didn't..."
Chris aimed his weapon at him. "And let me guess? BSAA agents?"
"Yeah..." Steve stated. "It's wrong, I know. But how do you think we kept the BSAA from going after Wesker? Or Spencer even? There were teams that got close. In 2005..a year before you went to the Spencer Estate... Echo Team was close. They found Intel but there was a traitor among them. He sold the information to a double agent under Wesker."
"Ada Wong?"
"Yeah. You remember how they reported in to HQ? You thought you were close? They sent me after them."
"Atkins...Berringer, Parson, you killed them all!"
"Yeah. You can tr?y and kill me later. There are bigger fish to fry."
Rebecca lowered the gun. "Have you seen anymore of our team mates out there?"
"I saw another one. Agent Nezhii. She;'s gone. I saw at least four SOU agents about an hour ago but I haven't seen them."
"Which ones?" Demanded Chris.
"Chris...maybe he doesn't know.." Rebecca suggested.
"I do..." Steve said. "Warren Kravic. He's alive but he took a blade to the left arm from one of the carriers."
"You didn't try and help them?" Chris demanded.
"No Why would I? They wanted me dead same as any other BSAA agents. They're holding up on their own but not every agent is still among the living."
"Who else?" Asked Rebecca, her green eyes flashing at him. "Quint and Parker are alive. Parker seems to really be hell bent on finding out if Jill's alive."
"He';s alive? We might have a chance at surviving after all."
"Yeah..." Rebecca agreed. "But only if we find them."
He lead them out into the main area. There was about twelve carriers coming towards them. Steven charged at them. It a flash of speed an explosion of blood and bones were in front of them. "JESUS!"
Steve, covered in enemy blood, responded. "I have the same abilities...and limitations as Jack Krauser. I'm not as strong as Wesker was but I think that was how he planned it."
"You thought he wouldn't place limitations on you?" Chris sneered. Steve directed them to a bench where a few firearms lay. "I got those for you. I had to raid a gunstore in town to get the ammunition. I don't know how much ammunition all the BSAA agents have right now and in case you have a while before you get another ammo drop, I left it out where you and the survivors could get it."
Chris took a Sig P20 and a Beretta ARX160. For the Sig he had five magazines. For the Beretta he had three magazines plus the one in the Rifle. Rebecca had a
Molot Bekas-M shotgun and a Beretta M92F. They made their way through the mall but Steve insisted, "Save your ammo! I'm gonna take care of most of these things!"
He spotted about thirty zombies. Steve pulled out a combat knife and said, "Here goes..." He sped towards them and with the flash of speed and the knife blood erupted from the necks of the multitude of infected. He spotted two BSAA agents. "This is where we part ways."
"You're not coming with us?" Rebecca asked. The red haired male shook his head. "No. There's no reason to. I gotta get back to Cottage Grove soon. I know where I might find the supplies my friend needs to get outta there."
"You're just afraid of our agents shooting you..." Chris stated. "What else are you up to? What are you hiding?!"
Steve shook his head. "Nothing but you're right. They'll try to jill me. I don't want to have to kill them in self defense."
"That won't happen..." Chris stated. "Cause if you try and hurt one of our agents, it'll be you who dies. If I took Wesker out I can handle you."
"Chris! Enough!" Rebecca insisted. "This isn't helping. If this is what Steve wasnts to do to stop casualties then we should."
"All right..." Chris sighed. "Are you coming back?"
"Yeah. I'm going to make sure everybody that's survived from Cottage Grove makes it out of there. I'm coming back once I know it's okay."
"They haven't seen us yet..." Rebecca stated looking towards Jane and Warren. "You should get outta here. We'll try and let as many team members know as we can about what you're up to. You being on our side."
Steve looked at them and stated, "There's something you should know before I go. There's a mission going on right now in the Midddle East and it's a bad situation. I didn't expect to run into Claire in Oregon. And this shit wasn't supposed to happen here either. The Middle East though...it was. I was supposed to be on a flight over there and take care of some business."
"Steve...who are you with now? How do you know this?"
"I'm with Neo Umbrella. But there's also Anubis and they'rre tied into the Family."
"We need more information on The Family..." Chris stated. "We haven't had enough to go after them but we'd chase rumors when we followed up on leads and their name would come up."
"You and me both, Chris. Anubis has gone off the rails and they're the connection to the Family. We have to find out."
He sped off. Chris and Rebecca mad their way to where Warren and Jane were. "It's good to see you're still among the living!" Chris stated. Warren winced a bit in pain still bothered by his stab wound. "Yeah...you two are a sight for sore eyes. Where the hell is everybody else?"
"We got split up..." Rebecca said with a sigh. "But we know Parker and Quint and Keith are alive. Jessica too."
"That's good..." Jane stated with a sigh. "Do we have any kind of contingency plan? They sent us in with a lot of artillery but we're gonna run out eventually. We just barely made it through another attack."
"Have you seen Agent Stone?" Asked Kravic. "Now there...that's somebody who could get us out of this."
"Are3 you saying I can't?" Chris demanded.
"I'm not saying that at all. But I know Agent Stone is here and he's a bad ass. After hearing what he did...how he even saved you and Sheva in Kijuju...he just would be really good to have here right now."
"I got bad news for all of you..." Chris stated. "You know Morgan Lansdale? He's behind this attack. But so is Raymond too. All these people from teh Queen Zenobia incident."
"This is so fucked up..." Jane stated. "And it's bad enough that we got that bitch Jessica back as an agent."
"Hey..." Warren said in her defense. "She's a probationar agent this is her trial run mission to be fully reinstated."
"That shouldn't be a thing..." Jane protested. "She's a traitor. She should be dead or rotting in a cell! Same with Raymond. He needs to just be shot. Lansdale too. I'm not afraid to die as long as we take those fuckers down with us."
"We need to stay calm and collected if we want to make it out of here./..." Rebecca insisted. "As for Jessica, I don't know what else you want. She was arrested and she did give up information that would lead to finding Oswald Spencer. And later Wesker got killed. She did her time."
"Yeah...six years in a prison only to have her crime pardoned..." Chris stated with bitterness.
They closed the shutter behind them. "Look, we don't have much..." Stated Warren. "We're down to just our pistols mostly. Got a few mags for the big guns but we wanna save em..." He lit a cigarette and Chris, though he had quit years ago, looked like he wanted one. He handed him one and lit it for him. "I've dealt with harder missions than this. At least that was what I thought..."
Rebecca noticed Jane was standing off looking outside into the mall. "You all right?" Rebecca asked. Jane replied, "I know there's survivors out there. People from the city and we're supposed to be protecting them but instead here we are ducked down in a store."
"We're doing the best we can. You, me all of us. Don't beat yourself up about it."
"Our best isn't good enough,Rebecca. I survived worse missions than this but now we're all boxed in...I...we lost team mates."
She looked grudglingly at Chris and Warren having a conversation. You're lucky to be alive. Traveling with him."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means he's a terrible leader and team mate. I used to have a lot of respect for Chris and when he was just an SOA agent I respected him a lot. He lost team members when he was part of S.T.A.R.S. and I know that's not his fault..but..."
"Are you blaming him for Edonia?!"Rebecca demanded in a harsh whisper.
"No. That was a situation nobody could have seen coming. But after that he got team mates killed in China. He put himself at risk just to go after Ada Wong. And his team mates...and in the end...Piers..."
Rebecca remembered. "You two were close weren't you? More than friends?"
Jane had angry tears in her green eyes but the redhead violently wiped them away and stated, "I wanted to be on the team with Piers at the time in Edonia and I wanted to in China. We'd done missions together before. Burma back in '09 was our most succesful. But he told me to stay on the team I was on. He had a sense of duty and obligatioon to Redfield and it got him killed."
Rebecca didn't like what she was saying. "He's your Captain Our Captain. I wouldn't have survived the mansion. The Arklay Mountains...I would have died if it wasn't for him."
"That's bullshit! You survived the train situation with Billy Coen, right? And then you made it to the mansion. You shouldn't rely on a man to be the one to save you."
"This isn't about that, Jane. Don't make it about that."
Jane sighed. "Maybe you're right...I wanted him to be my Captain when I first joined. But when I took this mission I wish I hadn't now. Cameron is dead. Reiner is dead...Nezhii..Chavez...Chris just was out running around with Sheva, Jill, Josh...while we got screwed."
"You got a problem with my leadership?" Chris called out. He stamped out the butt. "Well that makes two of us. I didn't want to be in charge of another team. I wanted Piers to replace me. I wanted to retire. He wasn't supposed to die. You think I don't live with that every day?!"
"He survived Edonia with you!" Shot back Jane. "He could have died a thousand times over in Europe or any of the missions we were on together. He could have died then. He could have died at any point during the mission in China while the rest of the team got wiped out. And he almost made it out but in the end...he sacrificed himself. To save you. A drunken Captain that got his soldiers killed."
"Hey that's enough!" Rebecca growled and Warren also put a hand on Jane's shoulder but she slapped it away. Chris held out a hand and said, "No, it's all right. Let her speak."
"You had a team in Europe and a team in Asia and they're all gone! You always survive. And the team dies. You don't..."
"You're right...I didn't want to leave Piers behind. I would have taken him with me if I thought I could. But I might have brought him with me and he killed me or the other agents. And for a second I wanted to die there with him. Not leave a soldier behind. But if I had died there would have been one more team wiped out. Maybe I should have died. I used to justify it by saying that I was saving lives by staying alive. But maybe if I did die this time I wouldn't lead another team to their deaths. Maybe that one extra death would stop me from doing that."
Jessica
As they made their way into the novelty store, Earthbound. Parker was behind her and he covered her firing his 10mm and he struck down five of them. "I fuckin hate these freaks!" Jessica growled.
She shut the door behind them. "These are Afflicted. Not zombies. They're smart enough to try to get in here. At most we've bought ourselves a little bit of time."
She sighed. "I could use a breather..."
"Do you think Chris has any ideas? On what to do? This is more than we anticipated and we don't know where Jill or Agent Alomar is."
"I do not know. He has come out of worse situations but these things have too many numbers for just two BSAA teams."
"Well...while we're here..." She said putting a hand on his right thigh. "JESSICA!" He barked in surprise and caught her off guards. "No..."
"What...you don't still find me attractive?"
"It's not that...I do not trust you..."
"Still? I thought you were over that now."
"Over it? No. You shot me in the leg. It was just a flesh wound but people have died from those. What if we hadn't gotten me medevaced out of there in time? Then there would have been no deal for you to make when you were arrested."
"Lovers quarrel?" A deep voice asked and they noticed a red haired man outside the blocking gate. "Raymond!" Growled Parker and he aimed his weapon at him. Jessica did too. He snickered. "What are you gonna do shoot me through the gate?"
He leaned in. "You're real ungrateful, Luciani. I saved your life when this bitch shot you. How about a little appreciation?"
"You both worked for Tricell! But she at least did the right thing."
"What you don't know could fill a book, Parker."
"You're the one who had to have spread this virus!" Jessica stated, "Why else would you be here?"
"Come out here and I'll tell you..." Raymond stated.
"Not a chance..." Jessica stated.
He smirked and they noticed he had an apple in his hands. He took a bite. They noticed that there were Afflicted around him howling. "You know it's been a long time...world's more Wesker. So there's no more Tricell. Our crimes are small time compared to what's gong on now. Between Anubis and Neo Umbrella and the Family there's no shortage of people looking to fill the power vacuum he left."
"And which one are you with? Neo Umbrella?" Sneered Parker.
"All of them?" Jessica added.
"Wouldn't you like to know..." Raymond chuckled. "You know the biggest difference between you and me, Jessica? I'm honest about who I am and what my role is. I don't pretend to be what I'm not."
He turned his back towards a backpack. The Afflicted were coming there were two of them coming towards the red haired man. He fired a Glock 19 eight times hitting each one three times in the chest and a fourth to the head. He followed up with stomps to the skulls before turning back to the backpack.
"What's your end game, Vester?" Demanded Jessica. "You can't expect to walk away from this. Even if you're just a mercenary again you'd have to explain to the BSAA what it is you're doing here."
Raymond smirked. "Morgan Lansdale..."
"What about him?" Demanded the large middle aged Italian.
Jessica repeated the question. "What about him, Ray?"
"It doesn't matter..." He said. They heard a ligter and saw shadows on the wall under the railing as the flames started up and he turned around and threw the cocktail towards them,/ They dodged it but the explosion caused there to be fire both inside and outside the store.
"Now you're trapped..."
He took his backpack and took another bite of the apple and he tossed it at an Afflicted carrier. He hit it in the back of the head. It spotted him and came running. He retreated and Parker yelled, "You coward!" Jessica suddenly screamed as flames swept on her right arm. Parker took a coat he saw behind what had been the cashiers place on a stool and he smothered the flames as Jessica screamed.
More carriers were on their way and before long there was twenty of them waiting outside. They tried to stay away from the flames. "The fire didn't get inside too badly...it's okay!" He assured her.
"It wasn't about burning us..." She replied. "It was about attracting them..." She stated grimly.
They spotted a monster walking with the carriers. She used her Genesis to read what the creature was. "Erebus..." She breathed and the creature began to pound through the gate mowing through four Afflicted carriers to get to it.
Quint
Keith and Quint made their way back up to Level 2. They spotted a horde of the infected and they even spotted a tyrant. "Shit..." Keith stated. "That's the thing that's been taking out our team mates."
They had come across the bodies of Cameron Mackenzie and Raven Nezhii among others. "You think so, Grinder?" Asked Quint. "There's ass loads of the undead out here! How do we know it wasn't one of them?"
"That's Jessica in there. So unless you want to see your girl die we gotta do something. Plus she'sd our team mate."
"She's not my girl you dick...she's a fuckin traitor..."
"She's doing her part to earn her way back. You should give her a try big man..."
"What are you trying to say you did?" Quint inquired. Kieth kept his Assault Rifle trained on them. "What can I say. I got at hing for bad girls. I i know you did too so get off your high horse. Now look we need a plan to get rid of all them plus that thing but we don't have enough ammo to take all of them down plus that thing."
"You still got your grenades?" Asked Quint.
"Yeah...I got three left. Why? You wanna use em on those things? Or him? I don't know if it's big enough to take that thing down."
"Not the tyrant. Just the Afflicted..." Quint explained as he got his grenade ready. "They don't see us yet so we got the element of surprise. I don't know about you...but i'm gonna use both grenades. There will be more gear in our next supply drop."
He pulled the pin on the grenade and cooked it. Keith did the same thing. "Aight I guess we're doing this then. But this might not take out all of em. So I'll use two you use two. Then we save the last one for a rainy day?"
Quint threw his and then instantly went for the pin of his second grenade. It landed in the middle of the group of zombies which was good they wanted to catch them in the center. Kieth's grenade landed near his and the explosion kicked up a huge blast and sent body parts flying. The blast killed or maimed around twelve of the zombies in the intitial blast. The next grenade landed not as far into the crowd as the first two had been but it did manage to take out a smaller group of them killing another four. Keith's grenade landed a bit closer into the crowd to the gate and while the tyrant's legs were bleeding from some of the shrapnel, and a few of the zombies were just crawling, it turned around and had its attentioon on them.
Jessica and Parker got up from the floor still coughing as they were trying to breathe cause of the smoke. Jessica cried out, "My fuckin ears! I can't hear!"
"Hasn't she dealt with that before? Look where we work!" Stated Quint as they began to fire on the tyrant. "You still never get used to it, Jackass. Come on...!"
Quint let off a barrage of rounds from his G36 striking the tyrant in the face. It started running towards them and Keith fired his P90 hitting the thing in the body. They backed up firing as the thing came running around to try and find them. They ran around the side to try and get to their team mates. Quint told Parker and Jessica, "Stay clear! We're gonna blow the wall for you!"
Erebus kept coming so Keith held the thing off charging at the creature firing twenty rounds. Erebus took a swing at the African American agent's head and he ducked down under it. Still, he kept on Erebus to keep his focus on him. He even gave a katate kick to the back as it was recovering from its miss. He knew this would piss the thing off. He backed away and fired into its back but it turned around fast. Quint was getting thee charges set up and he told the two BSAA agents, "All right you know the drill! Get back!"
The explosion did what was expected. It blasted a whole in the wall. Quint had feared that it would attract the tyrant to him and thus defeat the purpose of Kieth's impromptu attack on the tyrant to buy them time. Keith was already reloading and running faster as he did to make up for the lack of projectiles as thee thing came after him. Quint directed them to follow him out. They did, still coughing as did he.
They all turned their weapons on the tyrant. Keith caught a swipe in the left arm and cried out in pain as it raked across the arm. Quint fired a barrage at the back of the tyrant all the way up to his head. Jessica and Parker also fired on the creature. Parker fired the M3 he had recovered from a deceased survivor. He struck the thing in the back as well and then aimed another for the head. Jessica sprayed her Glock 18 automatic spray and hit the tyrant with multiple rounds.
She did this as she was buying time to switch to the MP5 she had found on a dead SWAT officer. "This isn't good!" She cried out as twenty rounds hit the tyrant. "We're supposed to be out there stopping this outbreak in the city and we're trapped in the mall instead!"
"This is where the infection began!" Replied Parker as he lobbed a grenade in the direction of the tyrant. "This is our best chance of taking out the majority of it!"
The grenade caught the tyrant off guard and it was no sooner than the tyrant had swung a right limb and knocked Quint back sending him flying. The tyrant fell to one knee. Keith, in anger at his wound as well as Jessica and Parker unloaded on the thing hitting him with three assaults of firepower. As the three each emptied a magazine into the tyrant, it finally fell over in a puddle of its own blood.
"Jackass you okay?" Cried out Kieth as he nursed his arm wound. The bald BSAA agent got to his feet nursing a cut on his right cheek from landing on broken glass when sent flying. "Still in the fight, Grinder!"
"Wopuld you two stop with the stupid nicknames already? This isn't 2005. Everybody knows you're a Jackass and Grinder? You're not that smooth as you think..."
"How about a little hgrattitude? We just saved your ass, lady..." Keith stated.
"You want grattitude for doijng your job?" She asked. "Thank you. But you could have killed us both with those grenades."
"You're still a traitor..." Growled Quint.
Jessica shot a smirk his way. "Quint, how is it you used to stutter and stammer every time we talked before and now you're only having the balls to say anything to me when you hate me? What if I said we should get dinner after this sometime? As a proper thank you?"
"I'd say you're a traitor. We could have died in our mission back in Finland and you're working with the enemy."
She chuckled. "I kind of like the new Quint! Still the same big bookworm as before but you're not afraid of me!"
He glared at her and she sighed.
"I'm working for the BSAA. I've been trying to make up for it and I've tried to say sorry to everybody that I did wrong. But I'm not gonna do it forever."
"Quint has stayed loyal to the Agency. Just like me. And results come when you stop caring..." Kieth stated regarding Quint not being as shy about talking to Jessica anymore. "But she is trying to make up for it. Even if Raymond saved Parker before and Jessica shot him it was still her who spilled the beans about Tricell and Excella and the Spencer Estate. We should give her a chance."
Quint and Jessica shot Kieth an uncertain glance at what he said about results coming when you don't care as far as the insinuation.
Quint stepped aside to nurse his wound with a first aid spray while Parker checked on Jessica's burn from the flames. "Grinder...did you fuck her?"
"What?! Why are you asking me that?"
"Cause you're being real forgiving and you're successful with the ladies."
"All right...yeah...one time but it was after she got out of prison. She was pent up. Look don't act like it's been all dry for you! You went on what ten dates with Rebecca? Ya'll got the nerd thing in common and she must like your corny humor if she keeps saying yes to you. I know you had a crush on Jessica back then but you've hated her ever since...it's not like you couldn't close the deal with Rebecca, right? Tell me you closed the deal with Rebecca..."
He replied, "The difference is Rebecca didn't betray us for Tricell. Think about it, Kieth! We survived a Hunter survived an airstrike and I put two and two together about O'Brian. But she was right under our noses selling us out."
"Cetcham...we're glorified soldiers and spies, man. It just comes with the territory. Today's friend is tomorrow's enemy and today's enemy is tomorrow's friend. Though the one thing that I always have known since we joined the BSAA was still that Umbrella is the enemy and we almost got Neo Umbrella against the ropes. Maybe if we take them down there will be nobody left selling this shit on the black market. Then again we'd be out of a job..."
"Not really..." Quint stated. "We could still just deal with terrorists using mustard gas."
"Give Jessica another chance, man. i have. We can both kill her if push comes to shove if she betrays us again..."
"All right. But what the hell do you mean by results coming when I don't care?"
"Cause you wanted to get with her before and she didn't really look your way. Truth is she's pretty easy. You may call me Grinder but she's rather get with somebody like Chris Redfield even now. She'll settle for somebody that isn't him to have fun but that's who she's really all about. You wanted her and she was focused on Chris and he doesn't like her that way. And he never will now. And maybe you don't like her anymore either but one of us could be the first to give her a break. We could..."
"Whatever, Grinder..."
"Are we ready to get out of here?" Parker asked readying his Handgun. Quint nodded. "Yeah. This mission is a clusterfuck."
Carlos
They had no choice but to wait it out. "I don't like this, Captain!" Voiced Kruger. "We're in here taking cover from the storm while there are insurgents out there murdering and pillaging in the streets!"
"We don't have a choice. I hate to put it this way but there's no way to sugarcoat it so I'm just gonna say it. Even those Anubis hijo de putas are probably taking shelter and well...they're probably taking any hostages they have inside with them. It's not good cause they can still terrorize them but it does mean that while we're staying put so are they so as soon as this storm shows signs of letting up we'll head out there and hopefully catch them."
Lars shook his head. "You don't know fanatics, Captain. They're willing to blow themselves up over what they believe in and this is their home turf. You get many sand storms in Brazil? We don't get them in the Netherlands. If a sandstorm had hit and stayed the entire time when the US was trying to capture Saddam he would stil be their president."
"Like it or not as fucked up as it is, there would probably be regional stability at least more than there is now. He wasn't a peaceful man but no good came of the invasion..." Peter stated.
"They're just people like us, Lars. And no there's no sandstorms in the Amazon or the slums of San Paolo. But humping it through the terrains in the former I can tell you that we're still at the mercy of nature. It's just different obstacles for different continents."
"I'm fuckin tired of this shit detail..." Suzuki said. "Alvin got an evac, Deana...what happened to Deana was terrible."
"I know, Yoko. There's just not much we can do about it. All we can do is try and get through our mission. If we don't, this will all be for nothing."
They began to move through the city as the sandstorm let up. Before long, the hostiles were on them again. The infected. There was at least ten Hunters. "Fuck not these things!" Lars cried out as he opened fire. Carlos aimed his Assault Rifle and let a burst of rounds into the chest of a green skinned BOW that was running towards him before it jumped towards him. He ducked and rolled and let it have a barrage of rounds to the back of the head. "No shit! I'd had enough of these things back in Raccoon City! We shouldn't still be seeing them fifteen years later!"
The thirty seven year old Captain continued to bombard it with rounds until it fell its green skin ripped with ghastly pink shreds torn and gray matter revealed from the exit wounds. Another jumped him from behind and Suzuki let it have a barrage of rounds in the side but it was ready to slice Carlos up. He grabbed his combat knife and as it screeched ready to rip his throat out, Carlos jammed the combat knife into its mouth with the blade scraping against the roof of its mouth. He kicked it and it cut it more and Yoko blasted the thing from behind to kingdom come and as it fell dying, riddled with rounds, Carlos fired a burst of rounds from its throat up into its mouth area and he reached and grabbed the knife ripping more flesh as he pulled it out.
The others were struggling with the Hunters. It seemed they were in a hot spot as far as that creature went. He fired the remainder of his magazine into another one wasting no time with body shots going only for the head. He cried out as he saw a more reddish colored one swipe the right side of his leg. "Fuck!" He cried. He realized he'd been poisoned. He fired on the one that had done this but Lars had a better shot. Lars finished it at pointblank range with its skull blasted into pieces as he put a few more into it for good measure. As Lars had to reload another Hunter was coming.
A Hunter leapt at Carlos and he struggled with it rolling and his team mates were wanting to shoot but afraid to hit him. A round was fired anyway and it was not from any of them. They noticed and saw a cloaked figure on the roof of a building. It looked like a Muslim woman. She fired off a few more well placed shots killing one Hunter with a shot to the gut.
"Over here!" She waved her arm to come that way.
"American accent..." Suzuki stated. "Friendly?"
"Then why is she dressed like a local? Even Americans have joined Anubis just to be rebels...as have Norwegian youth. We must be careful, Captain. I will shoot her if you would like..."
"No...if she was an enemy she could have let them get us. We'll see who she is and what she wants."
They made it into the building. The woman was inside and she had an H&K G36 with her. Carlos asked her, "All right who are you and why did you help us?"
She removed the head covering to reveal long black hair. She looked to be in her early to mid thirties and was rather attractive. She was of Mexican American descent. "Aye...not what I was expecting..." Carlos stated.
"You're Captain Oliveira, right? I've heard a lot about you. I was in Raccoon City too. I survived that place and I know that despite you being with the UBCS you saved some lives too. Even if it was just killing zombies so there'd be less to kill us."
"¿Quién eres tú?" Asked Carlos.
"Rosa Cardenas..." She replied. "I was a member of the .R.S. too. Anyway you saved my life once even if indirectly. I figured I owed you. I'm with the North American Branch. SOU."
"Where's the rest of your team?" He asked.
"Most are gone. The rest are people I was with in S.T.A.R.S. We may not be the big time names you hear about like you or Jill Valentine but we try our best."
She eyed him with eyes of sympathy. "It doesn't look like your team is having an easy time of it either."
Ada
She noticed he was near her again. "That was brave of you to stick your neck out for that girl out there."
Leon turned to her. "I'd say you'd do the same thing but I don't really know. Think about it Ada...we see each other what...maybe every six or seven years? And we may have some encounters. But I don't know much about you. I don't know anything. I don't know your real name either. Or who you work with. Whoever it's been all these years...I don't know. You worked for Wesker but I know you disobeyed him at times too. So maybe you have no real allegiance to anybody. Which makes me wonder why you won't just say who it is you do work for."
"Does it really matter, Leon? In the end I did save you and I have. I've saved other lives too. Back in China. I do help people. I just don't always get medals for it or recognition. I don't need to ever be thanked. That's the difference between me and you."
"Ada! The relationship between us is ...it's not healthy."
"You weren't complaining earlier..."
"Yeah but that's after how many years? You know the way I feel about you but I know you don't feel the same way. Not as strongly. There's something wrong with you. Nobody who had a happy life goes on to be a spy. Who are you really, Ada? If you can't tell me that now...get out of my life forever."
"You're angry..."
"Why wouldn't I be? You left me handcuffed up there! It's always this game of cat and mouse I'm tired of it...we're both getting too old for this. What happens when you turn fifty, Ada? You gonna be a spy as a senior citizen? Somehow I can't see you retiring and living the quiet life so that can only mean you're gonna do this until you get killed. You./..you BORE me. With this shit cause I'm tired of it. Everything about you is 'I'm the mystery woman and I'm gonna pop in and out of your life have vague intentions and then leave!' I can..I can do better than you. There is no real YOU. You know everything about me and I know nothing about you."
"Some men can't take the heat...some can..." She said with a smile.
"That's exactly what I'm talking about. Same old Ada. You're incapable of loving anybody or caring about anybody beyond helping them survive. You're a sociopath. That's what you are. I got a mission to do..." He turned away and said, "I want...wanted you Ada. But the real thing. Not whatever this is...maybe that's just not you. I've been an idiot to see it all this time."
Leon started to leave. "Wait..." She sighed.
"What?!"
"I'll tell you...something. About my past. It won't be everything. But it'll be something."
"Is it about John? I already know he wasn't your boyfriend. That you just used him the way you do do me."
"No, Leon. It's about my life before I got into this line of work..."
He stood there perplexed, unsure what to do. Finally, he sighed and said, "I guess I can spare five minutes..."
She lead him into some small building. It was actually a secret meeting place where Arab polytheists practiced their faiths in secrecy due to the religious intolerance of the government under Sharia Law. He observed what looked like statues of all kinds of gods and goddesses that looked like they dated back to the Mesopotamian. looked at one and said, "Huh...El the Moon god. Basis for the god of the bible."
"Leon...are you ready?" She asked him. He nodded.
I'm glad one of us is...I'm not sure I am. But if this is what it takes to get him to start to trust me...
I know the feeling
It is the real thing
The essence of the truth
The perfect moment
That golden moment
I know you feel it too
I know the feeling
It is the real thing
You can't refuse the embrace...
It's like the pattern below the skin
You gotta reach out and pull it all in
And you feel like you're too close
So you swallow another dose
The pinnacle of happiness
Filling up your soul
You don't think you can take any more
You never wanna let go
To touch the roots of experience
The most basic ingredients
To see the unseen glitter of life
And feel the dirt, grief, anger and strife
Cherish the certainly of now
It kills you a bit at a time
Cradle the inspiration
It will leave you writhing on the floor...
This is so unreal, what I feel
This nourishment, life is bent
Into a shape I can hold
A twist of fate, all my own
Just grit your teeth, make no sound
Take a step away and look around
Just clench your fist and close your eyes
Look deep inside, hypnotize
The whisper is but a shout
That's what it is all about
Yes, the ecstasy, you can pray
You will never let it slip away
Like the sacred song that someone sings through you
Like the flesh so warm that the thorn sticks into
Like the dream you know one day will come to life
Try to hold on just a little longer, stronger
It's the jewel of victory
The chasm of misery
And once you have bitten the core
You will always know the flavor
The split second of divinity
You drink up the sky
All of heaven is in your arms
You know the reason why
It's right there, all by itself
And what you are, there is nothing else
You're growing a life within a life
The lips of wonder kiss you inside
And when it's over the feeling remains
It all comes down to this
The smoke clears, I see what it is
That made me feel this way...
This is so unreal, what I feel
Flood, sell your soul, feel the blood
Pump through your veins, can't explain
The element that's everything
Just clench your fist and close your eyes
Look deep inside, hypnotize
Yes, the ecstasy, you can pray
You will never let it slip away
Like the echoes of your childhood laughter, ever after
Like the first time love urged you to take it's guidance, in silence
Like your heartbeat when you realize you're dying, but you're trying
Like the way you cry for a happy ending, ending...
I know
That's it for chapter 16 I really wanted to make this longer but I prioritized just putting something out there. So now Rosa Cardenas from the Resident Evil comics is in this and yes i'm treating those comics as if they are canon as well and the thing about this is yes it says that the S.T.A.R.S. members died because some lady was about to turn and they had just used a cure on Rosa to turn her back from a BOW so they had saved her in time but the comic ended with some villain saying their female partner was gonna turn while they were being evacuated on the chopper I mean I can see how that would be hard to survive but we didn't see it happen so unless we did I don't take it as the truth and maybe next chapter I can show what happened with that.
I was gonna just have her be the only character that survived that. But I decided against it and had the ones that survived that mission to Alaska and Mexico be alive and part of the BSAA. I do plan to ship her with Carlos down the line though. I know it's an odd pairing nobody has done since she's not canon in the games but you know with this Resident Evil Netflix series that i'm sure won't be any good and will be as bad as the movies they could have made it interesting having those characters in the show instead of Wesker having a daughter I mean idk I don't know why they want to go so AU with it it was already enough he had Jake as a son. It's like do you want to be different from the game and movie series or don't you? But yeah so far "Lilly Wesker" is what I heard. You know couldn't they have given her a more ominous female name? lol.
As for Jessica I hadn't really shown much of anything thus far in this story as far as the Revelations characters so I wanted to show the dynamics of what happened in Revelations and also what would be the fallout from Jessica's betrayal.
I also had Leon say what he did to Ada because look at the end of RE 2 with the epilogue thing we have a more vulnerable side to Ada. That's the most human she's ever been is in RE 2. With 4 look I liked her in 4 but after a while it gets old the same old vanishing femme fatal act. We should have learned something about her by now even when RE 6 had an Ada campaign they should have delved more into her past.
As for Erebus while he was knocked out this time by the gunfire of four agents I don't want you thinking that means he's a pushover he's not after all he did kill other BSAA agents. And even with Nemesis let's say you knocked him out in 3 or the remake. At no point usually did you see Jill or Carlos fighting him together but imagine how much faster he'd go down if two shot him. Then add two more to that.
But he''s down not out.
I also wanted to have some of the OC characters rant at Chris for post RE 6 shit. Next chapter which I hope to put out soon will see Billy gathering up what he needs plus Steve helping him with some of it to get out of that or not I'd reunite him with Rebecca just yet I don't really know.
This story will have a timeskip and I am trying to get through the Seatac, Cottage Grove and Iraq storylines so i can justify said timeskip I want it to be after RE 7 for sure but I'm not sure by how much. Maybe to the current year?
But then there are some other things regarding Leon and Claire reuniting that I may want to do not necessarily this far into the future. Maybe at latest it would be 2018 so that Claire is 39 and it's twenty years later. What do you think?
Let me know.
Till next time
