I watched as Mello brought out pictures and names of different members that were loose ends. Sometimes the death note was tested such as writing a cause of death and time before a name was written, or one whose death would be hard to achieve. The mentalities of Light Yagami and Mello were fairly similar to the point had L not been Mello's hero, I wondered if he would have went against him or became the better version of kira number three. They both were experimenters when it came to the notebook and methodical on how flashy it would be. Mello's most flashy was a car crash with a mobster and rival making the cars both blow up. Light's was having people fall from great heights as I didn't count his bus hijacking as flashy.
The other difference was Mello just loved testing out the suicides. Light was more diverse using more accidents and diseases. They would do it no matter where they were and no matter how strongly the were adverse to it. This gave Mello and me a glimpse into the real death note's power. I wasn't going to ask a shinigami if mine had as much power because I was going to save mine for emergencies in case mine had a draw back that Light's did not.
Then it was a waiting game. Sidoh came and as I looked his way, he ignored me and snatched the notebook out of Mello's hands. It then was plunked but it was when he said "tag you're it" and I laughed that he noticed I could see him. He then looked at my head and freaked out. "h-how in the As" "shush boy don't say that name here" I ordered the bird that looked mummified. The boys were all caught up in Jack's panicking thinking he was on drugs but the fact I was ordering the shinigami around made him more nervous. He obeyed the notebook and the trigger happy guys besides Mello shot at it. "This shinigami is going to help us" he said and looked at me.
"What would the shinigami like exchange?" I asked offering a chocolate bar. Mello's eyes narrowed in frustration but relented. He then let his boss interrogate about the rules. Sidoh ate the chocolate happily and confirmed that the thirteen day rule was fake as well as the all who touched the notebook and if the notebook was unusable would all die. Of course like L Mello would test the notebook using his people. It made me wonder what L and him would do to test the other fake rule. He wanted absolute proof that this was the notebook Kira used. I sighed remembering how to accomplish what his mentor couldn't he had to share his mentor's fate.
Soon Sidoh was ordered to go outside and keep watch like I had ordered the shinigami before. I knew that Sidoh was scared of Mello. I wasn't sure if he was scared of me or not but I was thankful he didn't try to say my name. I was secretly glad for Sidoh being out. Rod soon went out drinking and I was left alone with Mello. "Did that clear up anything?" I asked Mello seeing where his head was at.
"I want to have this tested by Jack" He said holding the notebook towards me. "put that on his desk the guy is too drunk and high to follow orders right now" he ordered but I nodded because in a way if he was ordering me, it meant he was trusting me. I was elated he trusted me. I soon gave him a bit of information which was about the shinigami eyes. It felt good to be on the higher ground for the moment.
