America yawned as he walked down the street. It was early in the morning and he was heading to the building where the world meeting was taking place. Trying to block out the noise from the New York traffic, America made his way down to the subway. After waiting for the correct train, America hopped on and found an empty seat and sat down. Just as he pulled out his phone to listen to his music, someone walked up to him. He was a young adult with short brown hair. He was wearing a college jacket and was carrying a backpack.

"Alfred?" The kid asked, looking hopefully at him. "It's me, Jack!"

America blinked at the stranger in confusion. "Sorry?"

"You know, Jack? The guy you helped from becoming a pancake?" Jack said helpfully.

America thought for a second before he let out a cry of delight. "Jack! Dude, I'm so sorry! I had a hard time recognizing you because you don't have a frown on your face! How have you been?"

"Much better!" Jack said cheerfully, taking the seat next to America with a big grin. "I told my parents what was going on, and surprisingly they don't hate me."

"I told you they wouldn't." America said with a laugh.

"Well, they weren't happy, but they just told me I had to get my ass into gear and try again." Jack said with a shrug. "I was able to get back into college as well! And this time I'm going to pass!" he said confidently.

"Dude, that's awesome!" America said, patting Jack on the back. "You had me worried there for a while."

"Yeah, but I feel so much better since I talked to you." Jack said. "If you hadn't been there that night, I wouldn't be here. You're my Hero!"

America couldn't help but blush at that comment. As much as he called himself a Hero, he wasn't used to people calling him one. "Hey, I just did what anyone else would do." America said with an awkward shrug.

"No, l mean it. You saved my life." Jack said seriously. "Thanks for saving my life."

"Uh, no problem." America said with a grin.

"So, where are you heading?" Jack asked, eyeing America's suit. "Got a job interview?"

"Huh? Oh, no. I'm actually going to work." America explained.

"You're not in school?" Jack asked in surprise.

"Nope." America said.

"So, where do you work?" Jack asked curiously.

"I-" America said hesitantly. He couldn't just tell Jack his was the United States of America. "I'm interning under my brother at the United Nations building." America lied.

"Really?" Jack asked in awe. "That's freaking amazing. You must have some good connections to work there!"

"Yeah, I guess." America said with a nervous smile.

"A government guy in a suit." Jack said with a smirk. "You didn't strike me as that type of guy. But I guess the ladies dig it."

"Huh?"

Jack raised an eyebrow. "You know, girls like a guy in a suit. Don't tell me you've never been hit on by a girl before."

"No, I haven't." America said with a frown.

"What?!" Jack gasped in shock. "You mean you're a virgin?" America's face turned a brilliant shade of red and he started to sputter in embarrassment. Jack just shook his head in pity. "With a reaction like that, it's obvious."

"Shut up!" America snapped, hiding his face in his hands.

"It's nothing to be ashamed about." Jack reassured. "I just thought a good-looking guy like you would have a girlfriend. Wait, are you gay?"

"CAN WE STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS?" America shouted, causing the people around them to stare at him. Coughing in embarrassment, America pretended not to notice.

"Sorry." Jack said with a snort of laughter. "Jeez, you're so prude. Hey, why don't you go to a single party with me this Saturday?"

"A single party?" America asked, happy for the change of topic.

"Yeah, me and a group of friends are going! But we're a guy short because someone had to cancel. Why don't you come? Hold on, I have the flyer here." Jack said, grabbing his bag. After rummaging through it for a minute, he pulled out a green flyer and after writing his number on the back he handed it to America.

"I guess I can go." America said unsurely as he read the flyer.

"Great!" Jack said with a cocky smirk. "This is my stop. Don't worry, we'll make sure you lose your V-card for sure." And with that, Jack rushed off the train.

"Asshole." America muttered.

England sighed as he walked out of the meeting room. As usual, nothing had gotten done. No one seemed to be in the mood to work, and even America was acting worse than usual. He hadn't even attempted to listen to anyone and was daydreaming the whole time.

As he turned the corner, his arm was grabbed, and he was pulled into a broom closet. Startled, England punched his attacker in the face. The man hissed in pain and swore in French.

"France!" England said crossly. "There better be a good reason for dragging me into this dirty place, or so help me god, I'll do more than break your nose."

"I would not be dragging you in here unless it was important!" France grumbled, holding a tissue to his nose. "And this disgusting closet is the perfect place for you as it matches your personality."

"How dare you, you cheese sniffing-" England started the say when France cut him off.

"Non, now is not the time for arguing!" France said seriously. "America is in danger."

England raised an eyebrow. "Really? In what way?"

"Today during the lunch break, I forgot something in my briefcase and went back to the meeting room to get it, and when I was passing America's seat I spotted a strange piece of paper underneath his work. I took a picture of it, here, look!" France said, holding up his phone.

England looked over it for a moment before his face went dark. "Ah, I see. Yes, this is a problem."

"What's worse, there was a phone number written on the back!" France wailed. "Do you know what this means?"

"Yes…" England said thoughtfully, nodding his head slowly.

"Um, what's the big deal?" Canada asked in confusion, causing England to jump.

"Canada! I didn't even know you were here!" England said, turning to face the younger nation.

"I'm not surprised." Canada said with a sigh. "Look, so what if America wants to go out on a date? It's not like he's a kid."

"NON!" France said angerly. "He's too young!" Then with sniff, he added, "He didn't even ask me for advice! How could he!? And when he's going on his first date no less!"

"No one in their right mind would go to you for dating advice." England grumbled. "And not only that, America is an idiot. Someone is going to use his cluelessness and take advantage of him. It's his first date, he wouldn't know the signs."

"America is a capable adult." Canada said, rolling his eyes. "He can tell when people are trying to manipulate him."

"Even when there is alcohol around?!" France said, showing Canada the flyer. "Look, it says here that there's going to be beer!"

Canada's eyes narrowed as he read the flyer. "Ah, I see." He said darkly. "That changes things. So, what's the plan?"

"We're going to follow him." France said with a smirk.

"Alfred!" Jack said happily as America walked into the restaurant. "You made it!" Looking over America he let out a whistle. "Damn, you clean up nice."

"Thanks." America said with a nervous smile. He was wearing a black suit and a red tie. He had even combed his hair, although he still had the cowlick. The rest of the guys in the group were dressed similarly.

"The girls are going to arrive soon." Jack said, dragging America over to his friends. "Don't look so nervous." He added. "Girls like confidence."

"Sure." America said unsurely.

"Hey, this the guy you were talking about?" One of the other guys asked, looking over America.

"Yeah, Alfred, this is Dave. The guy next to him is Sam." Jack said, introducing them. Dave was a tall guy with a slim build and black hair. Sam was about the same height as America and was very muscular. He had brown hair and a beard.

"Nice to meet you." Dave said with a smirk. "So, you're the guy who saved my friends life?"

"Yes." America said.

"Nice to meet you at last." Sam said, shaking America's hand. "We can't tell you how thankful we are."

"It was no problem." America said with a chuckle.

"Hey, let's not talk about that now." Jack said with a huff. "This is supposed to be a fun evening! No depressing talk!"

"Fine, fine." Dave said.

"So, how does this work?" Alfred asked.

"It's easy!" Jack said happily. "When the girls come in, we'll be given a number to hold on too. The card will have two numbers on it. The top number is your date's number, and the number on the bottom is your table. There's going to be four people at a table to save on space, so it's like a double date thing."

"Oh, that doesn't sound so bad." America said.

"It's really easy, so don't worry." Jack said with a smirk. "We'll help you out."

Dave glanced over at the door and grinned. "Hey, looks like our dates have arrived."

Looking around, Alfred saw a large group of girls walk in. They all looked very pretty, and they were giggling and pointing towards them. A couple girls blew kisses at them. Blushing, America looked away.

Meanwhile, at a nearby table, England, France, and Canada were watching America from over their menus. They were all dressed casually, seeing as they weren't part of the event. England glowered at the women.

"Look at them! They're eyeing him like he's a piece of meat." England hissed.

"He's blushing!" France snickered.

"Of course, he is!" England snapped. "Do you see how small some of those women's skirts are?!"

"Oh, I am looking." France purred.

"You should be ashamed." Canada muttered, throwing France an unimpressed look.

"I wonder who he's going to be paired up with?" England wondered.

"We have to be careful." France warned. "Remember, we can't be caught."

The other two muttered in agreement. Then they turned their attention back to America.

On the other side of the room, America was handed a small white card with his numbers. Jack looked over America's shoulder and grinned. "Hey, we're sitting at the same table! Awesome!" Grabbing America by the shoulder, he steered him towards a table where two girls were sitting. The first girl was breathtakingly pretty. She had brown hair that fell past her shoulders and was wearing a strapless red dress with a skirt that barley reached the top of her knees. She gave them a dazzling smile when she spotted them. The other girl was also stunningly pretty. She had blonde hair that was braided into a French braid and was wearing a green dress. She gave them a warm smile.

"Jackpot!" Jack said under his breath.

"Hello, are you our dates?" The blonde asked.

"Yep." Jack said with a wink. "Me and my friend here! My name is Jack, and this Alfred!"

"Nice to meet you." The blonde said. "My name is Brooke, and this Emily."

"And which one of you lucky ladies is number 4?" Jack asked with a grin.

"That would be me!" Brooke said, patting the seat next to her.

"Oh, so I get the hot blonde!" Emily said with a wink at Alfred. Alfred blushed again and smiled at her. "Uh, yeah I guess so!" He said, sitting next to her.

"Ooo, a blusher! How cute!" Emily giggled. America's face turned bright red in response, making the other two laugh.

England narrowed his eyes at the table. He didn't like how that girl was looking at America. France just shook his head.

"He is hardly elegant." France commented.

"She seems to like that." Canada said, watching the table carefully.

"You don't seem as bothered about that as I thought you would be." France pointed out.

"I don't care what happens, as long as there isn't any alcohol involved." Canada explained. "As long as Al is sober, I'm not really worried about his wellbeing."

"You are a heartless brother." France said with a frown.

"Al can take care of himself." Canada said calmly.

"Like hell he can." England huffed.

Suddenly a loud laugh came from America's table. The three glanced over and saw that Jack was laughing at a joke Alfred had made. Listening in, they were able to hear what they were talking about.

"You're hilarious." Jack said. "Where did you hear that joke from?"

"At a party when I was a kid." Alfred said with a chuckle. "I didn't understand it then, but when I got older I found it hilarious."

"So," Emily said, looking up from her menu, "Alfred, do you go to the university?"

"No, I'm actually not in school." Alfred said. "I actually intern under my brother at the United Nations building. I'm trying to become a politician." He explained.

"Oh, aiming high!" Brooke said with an impressed look.

"So, you're a man of action. I like that." Emily said with a purr.

America let out a nervous laugh and looked down at his menu. "So, what are you guys ordering?"

"Hmm, I don't know." Brooke said, glancing over the menu. "I think I'm just going to have a salad."

"The Pasta looks good." Jack hummed.

"I think I'm just going to order a drink." Emily said with smile.

"Don't you think it's a bit early for that?" Brooke asked.

"Why wait?" Emily said with a laugh. "After all, we are supposed to be enjoying ourselves."

"I think I'll just order a burger." America said.

"Will you be drinking anything Alfred?" Emily asked, fluttering her eyelashes at him.

"No, I'm underage." Alfred said with a shrug. "Plus, I drove here myself, so I can't get drunk."

"Hmm, I see." Emily said, looking a little disappointed.

"Are you ready to order?" The waiter asked England, making him jump.

"Oh, yes." England said. "I'll take a burger, and so will the other two."

"Very well." The waiter said and before the other two could argue, he took their menus and left.

"He isn't a very good waiter." Canada huffed.

"Never mind him." England whispered. Did you hear that girl? She doesn't seem very interested in Alfred in a long-term way.

"She seemed eager to get drunk." France agreed.

"Did that guy even write down our orders? And did we ever get our drinks?" Canada asked.

"Shush." France said. "We're trying to listen."

For the next hour, they watched the table. While it seemed Jack and Brooke were hitting it off, America didn't seem very happy with his date. Emily also seemed to be getting drunker and drunker with every minute. She was also becoming increasingly flirty with America. Finally, after America told another joke, she let out a shrill laugh causing the tables around her to wince.

"Oh god, that's so fucking funny." She said loudly.

"Hey, don't you think you've had enough to drink?" Brooke asked with a frown, eyeing the glasses surrounding the other girl.

"Noo, I'm fine." Emily slurred, waving away the comment. "Isn't that right, lover boy?" Emily said, draping her arm over America's chest.

"I-" America started to say when she cut him off.

"See, he agrees." She said brightly.

Jack shot America an apologetic look, and America just sighed.

"You're really cute." Emily continued. "Shame you won't get drunk. It's always more fun drunk."

"Anyways, I think we should start and think about wrapping things up." Jack said, saving America from answering. "It's starting to get late."

"Yeah, I have class tomorrow." Brooke said with a sigh.

"You two can go." Emily said with a smirk. "I have plans with this one." She said, grabbing America's arm.

"I have work tomorrow." America said uneasily.

"Aw, don't be like that." Emily pouted. "My boyfriend is always making excuses too."

America's mouth fell open along with Jack's and Brookes, as well as the other three nations sitting nearby.

"You have a boyfriend?!" America asked in disbelief. "What are you doing here then?"

"Cheating on him, duh." Emily said, rolling her eyes. "I'm breaking up with soon anyways, so it doesn't matter."

"That's cold." England said with a wince.

"Yeah." Canada said disgusted look.

"Shh, it's getting good." France hissed.

"SO THAT'S WHY YOU HAVEN'T BEEN PICKING UP YOUR PHONE!" The waiter yelled angerly, storming up to Alfred's table.

"Luke!" Emily gasped. "What are you doing here?"

"I followed you here! I saw that flyer in your bag!" The man shouted angerly. "I knew you were cheating on me!"

"Damn, this is awkward." Jack muttered, backing away from the angry man, dragging Brooke with him. Poor America was stuck between the arguing couple.

"This is better than a soap opera!" France said excitably.

"Go away Luke!" Emily shouted angerly. "I've found myself a new man!"

"No, wait-!" America yelped as the angry waiter rounded on him.

"YOU!" The man shouted angerly.

"It's not what it looks like!" America tried to explain, but Emily hid behind him.

"Make him go away, lover boy!" She said angerly.

The man raised a fist to hit America and America raised his hands to block it, when Jack jumped in front of Luke. "WOAH! It's not his fault!" Jack shouted.

The man paused, and America let out a sigh of relief. "What are you talking about?" Luke asked angerly.

"I dragged him here tonight because another friend of mine couldn't make it." Jack explained. "He didn't know she had a boyfriend! He came here because this is a single's party! He thought she was single!"

"It's true!" Brooke added. "She's been trying to flirt with him all night, but he wasn't interested."

"I only came for the food!" America confessed. "I really don't want to date anyone."

"What?" Emily asked in disbelief.

"I'm not ready to date anyone." America said apologetically. "Sorry, I never intended to go out with anyone here."

"Damn, really?" Jack said with a frown.

"Yeah, sorry." America said with a shrug.

"You, YOU BASTARD!" Emily wailed. Pushing America away from her, she ran out of the restaurant crying, with her boyfriend chasing after her. There was an awkward silence, then another waiter came out with a stern look.

"I know, we're leaving." America sighed. "I'll take the bill."

The waiter nodded and handed him the bill. As America pulled out his wallet, Jack gave America an apologetic look. "Alfred, dude, I'm so sorry." He said guiltily. America just waved the apology away with a chuckle.

"Hey, the food was great, so it's fine."

"At least let me pay." Jack said snatching the bill from America.

"If you insist." America said. "So, did you enjoy the show?" America added, turning around and glaring at the other nations.

"You knew we were here?" England asked in disbelief.

"I saw your car in the parking lot." America huffed. "I'm not an idiot, I knew you were following me."

"It was done with the best intentions." France assured the fuming boy.

"I was just dragged along." Canada claimed.

"You liar!" France shouted. "You came for the same reasons we did!"

"Whatever." America huffed. "I'm leaving." Turning back around he nodded at Jack. "I'll call you later."

"Wait, was it his number on the back of the flyer?" France asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, who else would it be?" America asked, and then he walked out.

There was another awkward silence. "So…Is he gay?" Brooke asked.

"Really?" America asked happily. He was on the Subway with Jack again. A week had passed since the dinner disaster.

"Yeah! Brooke and I are going to the movies on Friday!" Jack said happily. "She really thought I was cool jumping between you and that guy and defusing the situation. She also said I was cute!

"Good for you buddy." America said giving him a high five.

"Hey, there's another dinner date coming up if you want to go." Jack said pulling out another flyer with a grin.

"Well, this is my stop." America said quickly jumping up. "See you later." And with that, America ran for his life.

A/N: Ah, poor Alfred. Still not as weird as some of the people I've dated. ;) American dating is a strange thing. It's very common for couples to go to formal places for the first date, like a restaurant. Going to the movies is also common. It kind is like a job interview on the first date. Show up on time, dress nice, don't say anything stupid. It's mostly just trying to see if you think you guys can work out or not. Usually the guy asks the girl out, although the girl can ask the guy out as well. Guys tend to be more traditional, paying for the check and driving the girl around, opening doors for them, etc. Although, it's not uncommon these days for couples to split the check. Fun fact, the biggest deal breaker for most people on first dates in bad hygiene. What's the weirdest date you've ever had?

Btw, sorry to anyone named Emily.
