"Well, I'm tired." Doc sighed as he put his beer mug down. "I've got a trip out into the country tomorrow so I need to go home and go to bed. Matt." He tapped the lawman on the shoulder. "If I probably won't see you and Festus before you leave but you two be careful looking for Thad. It's mean country down that way."
"We will, Doc." Matt nodded. "Good night."
"Night, Doc." Kitty echoed as the physician waved a hand and left the saloon.
Kitty looked back up at Matt. "I agree with Doc, Cowboy. You and Festus need to be careful while you're out there."
"Ah, there's nothing to worry about." Matt shrugged off her concern. "Besides, I thought you wanted me to go and look for Thad."
"I do but that doesn't mean I want you in danger instead of him. If what Doc says about that part of the country is true then…"
"Then it will be even more important that Festus and I go down there and check on Thad." Matt smiled gently at her, understanding her worry. "We'll be careful, Kitty."
Kitty dropped her head for a moment before looking back up at him. "You'd better."
Matt chuckled and stood back from the bar. "What I'd better do right now is my rounds. That is if a certain lady would like to see me later, that is."
Kitty grinned impishly. "She would." She answered as she took a brief look around her and then leaned in close to him. "All of you."
Though he turned just slightly red, Matt beamed as he headed for the door. "I think that can be arranged." He told her as he left the saloon.
