HighSchool Of The Dead

If Things Were Different

Chapter 7: The Long Awaited Battle

After the incredible turn of events with some insane news, the ladies decided to meet up at the local cafe.

They were sitting in a blue cushion booth where Alanze and Saya were sitting on one side of the table and Shiko and Rei were sitting on the other side.

A Male waitress came over and handed them all their milk shakes. Rei and Shiko had a vanilla shake with whipped cream and a cherry. Alanze had Chocolate fudge and Saya had strawberry.

Alanze took a sip from her straw and then looked at Saya "So I take it lunch went well with your mom?"

Saya took a sip of her shake and nodded "Yeah. It's been a long time since we've spent some time together. We had a chance to talk about a lot of things, but my father showing up was a big surprise."

"Mr. Takagi joined you and your mom for lunch?" Shiko questioned a bit surprised.

Saya nodded slowly "Yeah… and it's all thanks to Miyonji." Saya looked down, some of her hair falling in front of her eyes to hide the blush and the cheeky embarrassed smile.

Rei raised an eyebrow leaning towards Saya, "Oh? Miyonji had something to do with it?"

"Yeah… My father told me that he called Miyonji yesterday looking for Mr. Sueenji and that's when Miyonji brought up the idea to him." She began to poke at the straw, the blush just seeming to increase upon her cheeks.

Alanze put her right elbow on the table, her chin rested in her palm. Her brows wiggled at Saya. "Wow! Miyonji never ceases to amaze me. That's a real good man you got there Saya." She winked.

Saya rolled her eyes and pushed Alanze back out of her face. "Yeah yeah, when he's not being a complete idiot." She chuckled a bit.

"You're way too hard on him Saya, he's not an idiot." Shiko said rather flatly and it caught everyone's attention at the table.

'

"I didn't say he was one all the time, but he can be a royal idiot sometimes. Especially when he's hanging around his idiotic friends." The girls just sighed and shook their heads.

Alanze took a sip of her shake while whacking Saya on the arm. "Hey! We're his friends too, how dare you call us idiots!" She giggled and nodded understanding. "Boys will be boys.."

Shiko laughed while Saya shook her head "I meant Takashi and his other two friends."

"Come on now Saya, they're not idiots, just boys." Shiko giggled.

Saya raised an eyebrow at Shiko "You do realize that his little friend Morita has asked me out three times, knowing full well my relationship with HIS friend. However, Miyonji can call an idiot like that a friend and it's beyond me." She leaned back in her seat arms crossed under her chest.

"He's only joking when he does that Saya. Miyonji even said it himself that he knows Morita only does that to mess with him. Morita would never seriously try to steal you away." Shiko assured her.

"He couldn't even if he tried, but all that aside I know Miyonji is a good guy, and I know he's not truly an idiot. I call him an idiot so he can try to prove me wrong like he always does and prevent him from becoming one."

Alanze smirked at her "So you're saying he always proves you wrong?" She elbowed her again.

"I said he can try, I didn't say he actually does prove me wrong." Saya quickly replied with a blush on her cheeks.

The girls laughed for a moment until Rei looked down at her glass and sighed for a moment "Hey...can I ask you all for some advice?"

The girls looked over a bit concerned as they noticed Rei now sad expression. "Sure what's wrong Rei?" Shiko scooted a bit closer to her.

"Well… Two days ago, Hisashi asked me if he could go to this party that's supposed to be happening tonight."

"You're talking about that party, Kawamoto is supposed to be hosting?" Sheki tilted her head, cutting her off for clarification.

Rei nodded "Yeah, Tsunoda and Miku asked Hisashi to go with them and he asked me if I wanted to go with him."

Alanze sighed and grabbed her cup "Let me guess, you told him yes, didn't you." Alanze then took a sip of her shake as Rei shook her head at her.

"No! No way, I don't even like Tsunoda and Miku and I'm pretty sure they don't like me. I told him no, but not because of them. I heard about how Kawamoto's parties can be... they're wild with alot of drugs and alcohol. I don't want to be around that and I told him I didn't want him around that either." Rei gripped the table a bit trying to reel in her emotions.

"So you told him that you didn't want him to go. How did he react to that?" Alanze was a bit surprised by the girls' will power and leaned a bit closer.

Rei sighed as she looked at her drink "He was upset at first. He asked me why and I told him it was because I didn't feel comfortable with him being there. In the end he said he would respect how I felt but... I feel bad. Do you think I overreacted?" She looked up, her eyes glossy and her lower lip quivered a bit.

"Why would you even ask that?" Saya frowned looking to Rei, almost as if looking down on her.

"If Miyonji asked me to go to that type of party I'd shut him down immediately. There's normal parties and then there's those types of parties. Drugs are an absolute no go for me." Saya huffed nodding matter of factly.

"Yeah, drinking isn't as bad as long as that person knows how to handle their liquor." Alanze added.

"Miyonji's father has been saying that one day he wants to have a drink with him. I'm sure Miyonji won't turn out to be an alcoholic. I trust him." Saya looked to Alanze and the girls nodded at each other.

"Besides that Hisashi should know better then that. I'm starting to think Tsunoda is beginning to get in his head." Shiko frowned, holding her chin deep in thought.

Saya rolled her eyes as she looked out the cafe window "Beginning too? He did that a long time ago."

"Hisashi would never let that happen. I trust him, I know he would never let Tsunoda steer him in the wrong direction." Rei defended him a bit worried.

Saya looked at Rei for a moment, disappointment covered her face. If she continued to bash Hisashi, Rei would just defend him blindly. Saya closed her eyes and sighed "If you say you trust him, then I'll leave it at that. Just be careful okay?"

Rei nodded and smiled wiping some of her premature tears from her eyes. "I will." The girls continued to drink their shakes and converse inside the cafe.

Meanwhile...

Miyionji, Takashi, Morita and Imamura had gotten out of Miyonji's car and began walking towards the front door of his home. "Miyonji I've been meaning to ask, did you really buy this car out all together?" Imamura asked as he looked over at it.

Miyonji shook his head "Nah, I'd be a fool to blow all my money like that. I put a big down payment and got a car note, so I make small payments monthly."

"Smart move. Saving all that money just to blow it on one thing seems pretty silly." Takeshi said looking back at it as well.

Miyonji laughed "You think my parents would allow me to do something like that. They want me to be responsible, not careless."

Takashi looked at the license plate which said Yuka and smiled "I think it was a responsible choice." Miyonji smiled hearing his friend compliment.

Opening the door the squad walked inside and Takashi closed the door behind them. Morita and Imamura began to look around. "It's been awhile since we've been inside here." Morita said softly.

Miyonji smirked "Who's fault is that? You guys are always welcome."

"Miyonji can you come into the kitchen!"

They heard his mother's voice and looked towards the kitchen. The group headed towards the kitchen. Hinata and Kento were standing near the stove while Souichiro and Yuriko were sitting at the kitchen table.

But what shocked him wasn't them but the sight of Hakami and Saeko sitting at the table as well. Takashi and the other's were just as shocked as Miyonji as they continued to look at Hakami and Saeko.

"What the hell? Why are you here Soriejji?" Miyonji's face was clearly displeased if his tone wasn't enough.

Hakami smirked while Saeko looked at the two and sighed.

"Miyonji that's no way to treat your guest." Hinata scolded.

She then turned her attention to Takashi, Morita and Imamura and smiled "Hi boys, it's good to see you again."

"It's good to see you too Mr. and Mrs. Sueenji." The boys said in unison.

Takashi then turned his attention to Yuriko and Souichiro and smiled "It's nice to see you both as well Mr and Mrs. Takagi." He said.

"Same to you Takashi." Souichiro responded.

Miyonji kept his eyes on Hakami who continued to smirk. He then shifted his sights on Saeko who looked back at him "Saeko Busujima right?"

She nodded at his question "Yes, I'm the Co- Captain of the Kendo club. I'm sorry for the intrusion but my friend Hakami here insisted on coming here."

"For what, and how the hell do you know where I live?"

Hakami smirked and looked at Morita who tried to look away in another direction, avoiding eye contact with Miyonji, who was glaring at him.

"Morita, really?" Takashi smacked him on the back of the head.

"He shook me down at school yesterday, I'm sorry dude." Morita put his hands up in defense.

Miyonji sighed and then looked back at Hakami "What could you possibly want with me that you would shake someone down for my address?" Miyonji frowned.

"To challenge you to a kendo match." He said bluntly with a smile on his face which made everyone except for Saeko dramatically fall to the ground in disbelief.

"You could've done that at school." Imamura frowned, folding his arms.

"That would be so, if Sueenji didn't leave school so quick everyday." Hakami pointed out.

Saeko sighed as she looked at Hakami who continued to smile. Miyonji looked at him for a moment more and then closed his eyes. "I did say I was ready anytime. Fine let's do this Soriejji." Miyonji stated, which got him a nod from Hakami.

Ten minutes later….

Miyonji and Hakami were standing in Kendo armor suits inside the Sueenji Dojo. The two looked at one another as Takashi and the other's stood on the sideline.

"Did the match start yet?"

Takashi and the other's turned to see Shiko, Saya and Alanze walking inside. "Welcome ladies." Kento greeted.

"Hi Mr. And Mrs. Sueenji!" They greeted in unison.

"Alanze! Oh my, it's been so long since I've seen you!" Hinata exclaimed as she hugged Alanze.

"Aw! I've missed you too Mrs. Sueenji!" Alanze hugged her back.

Yuriko walked over to Saya and Shiko and smiled at them as they smiled back at her. Morita raised an eyebrow as he looked at Shiko "I thought Miyamoto was with you guys." He said.

"She said Igou texted her saying he's sick so she went to check on him." Shiko eyed him as she replied.

Takashi looked at her and was about to say something until he heard Souichiro's voice.

"The match between Hakami Soriejji and Miyonji Sueenji will now commence. The match is over when one person strikes a decisive blow, Begin!"

Hakami dashes forward without warning and swung his kendo stick At Miyonji's head. Miyonji quickly blocked the attack with his kendo stock and pushed Hakami back.

The two started trading blows and blocking the other's attack multiple times in a face pace which amazed everyone watching. Miyonji swung in a sideways motion with his left arm, aiming for the left side of Hakami's head.

Hakami quickly ducked and swung his stick in an uppercut motion, hitting Miyonji's stick and sending it into the air.

"This match is over." Saeko said as she watched on.

"I wouldn't be so sure of that." Saya quickly replied, which made Saeko look at her for a second before looking back at the two fighters. Her eyes widened as she noticed what was going on.

"You're wide open!" Hakami exclaimed again as he swung his stick forward.

Miyonji quickly stepped to the left and dodged the attack. He then side stepped to the right as Hakami tried again but failed.

Miyonji smirked as Hakami swung at him again. But before he could land a hit Miyonji caught his kendo stick and blocked the attack.

The two jumped away from one another and had a small stare off. Miyonji got into a stance while holding the kendo stick with one hand.

Hakami got into a stance as well but he held the kendo stick with both hands.

"These two mean business." Takashi said.

"Well I'm glad to see Miyonjin hasn't lost his skill." Kento added.

"I don't think he will ever lose his skill." Saeko said which made Kento look at her.

"Your son is very well trained, and is an exceptional fighter. His skill with the kendo stick is remarkable especially for doing it one handed. Hakami knows that Sueenji is skilled and that's why he's so eager to face him one on one. To find out who's better." Saeko narrated.

"Is that what that was? This whole time I thought Soriejji hated Miyonji." Shiko eyed the woman with her accusation.

Saeko let out a small chuckle and shook her head "Oh no. As moody as he may seem, Soriejji has no ill will towards Miyonji. He actually has a great deal of respect for him, he just doesn't know how to show it." Saeko chuckled.

Miyonji and Hakami stared at one another before Miyonji began to smile "Oh this is great! It's been so long since I've done intense feeling, I like it." Miyonji shouted which made Hakami smirk.

"I"m glad you're enjoying the match, I'll admit I'm enjoying myself quite a bit. This is what I've been waiting for, Sueenji. I've been waiting for this side of you to come back." Hakami grinned.

Miyonji smirked and readied himself again while Hakami did the same. A moment later the two dashed at one another again and clashed their kendo sticks multiple times, trying to overpower the other.

Miyonji then thrusted his kendo stick towards Hakami's stomach six times fast. But Hakami blocked each attack with his own kendo stick. Hakami quickly spun around but Miyonji reacted and retaliated by holding his kendo stick up and bringing it down fast towards Hakami's head as Hakami was aiming for Miyonji's ribs.

The two connected their blows and stood in silence trying to regain themselves as they were in the heat of the moment. Everyone was also in silence as they were in shock at the double hit, trying to figure out who the victor was.

Souichiro quickly raised his hand and cleared his throat "The winner of this match... is Hakami Soriejji." He called out.

The room was filled with gasp as they heard what Souichiro had said. "No way." Morita said in disbelief.

"Miyonji lost." Imamura said in the same tone of voice.

Saeko closed her eyes and smiled appreciating the match she just witnessed. "Looks like we finally have our answer. They both did amazing regardless of the outcome." Kento said.

Miyonji and Hakami stood face to face where Miyonji let out a sigh and then smiled, while holding out his hand. "Thanks for the awesome match Soriejji. Hopefully now we can put this behind us and become friends." Miyonji held out his hand to the boy.

Hakami closed his eyes for a second and smirked "Hmph, more like rivals." He responded as he grabbed his hand and gave it a firm shake.

Twenty minutes later...

Hakami and Saeko left the Sueenji's household and were now walking home. Saeko looked at Hakami who was looking forward and raised an eyebrow. "Did you really have to use Soriejji style on him? He's going to feel the effects of that soon enough." Saeko said. Hakami didn't say anything, he just continued to walk as a grin appeared on his face.

As if on cue back at Miyonji's house, Miyonji had his shirt off and was groaning in pain as Kento examined the left side of his torso. There was a long red mark that went across his torso right about his waist.

"Oh yeah, that's Soriejji style alright." Kento said, shaking his head.

Souichiro put a hand to his chin as he looked at the mark and nodded his head "Caused damage even with the armor on." He added.

"You'll be feeling that for a week." Hinata poked.

"I still remember when Souichiro sparred with his father Sota. He felt the pain the next day." Yuriko laughed.

Miyonji growled as he continued to feel the pain "Nope! There's no way I can ever be friends with that jerk."

Saya and Takashi walked over to him as he continued to growl. "Stop complaining, it's your fault for accepting his challenge." Saya stated bluntly, folding her arms.

"It'll go away soon...BUDDY!" Takashi exclaimed as he put his right hand on Miyonji's right shoulder and used his left hand to smack Miyonji's injury.

Miyonji let out a painful scream which could be heard across the town. "I'll get you for this SORIEJJI!"

Two days later…

Miyonji's phone had rung as he was getting ready for school. Miyonji was putting on a White T shirt that complimented his grey denim jeans that he was wearing along with his white converse sneakers.

As he was walking towards his school bag he heard the sound of his phone's ringtone. He turned his head and walked over to it to see Imamura's name on the screen.

He quickly pressed the answer button and put the phone to his ear. "Hello?"

"Miyonji, quick question. Did you see the picture Taniuchi posted up that she took at Kawamoto's party?" Imamura asked.

"No, and why would I care?" Miyonji rose a brow as he headed towards his bag again.

"Just look real quick, trust me it's something important that you really need to see.

"Why are you even looking at that, girls photos? She's bad news along with Miku and Taniuchi." Miyonji frowned.

"Just look!"

Miyonji knew that Imamura was serious, he could hear it in his voice. He could tell something was wrong and took a deep breath as he put down his bag. He put Imamura on speaker phone and then clicked on a social media app on his phone.

Once he got to Kawamoto's profile he looked at her recent posts and saw a picture of Taniuchi and Miura. Taniuchi was kissing Miura's cheek, who was looking at the camera and smirking. "Okay, it's a picture of Taniuchi kissing Miura, why do I need to see this?" Miyonji asked, bored already.

"Look behind them and zoom in the picture."

Miyonji looked at the picture closely and went wide eyed as she noticed something behind the two teenagers. He quickly zoomed in and stood in utter shock at what he saw "What the hell?"

What he saw was a clear shot of Kawamoto sitting on a black couch. Her arms were around a man's neck, her legs wrapped around him. Their lips were locked in some sort of passionate kiss. Miyonji was lost for words as the man she was kissing was none other than Hisashi Igou.
