"Please keep going" Kion begged as Fuli got to her feet and walked away from him, leaping onto a nearby rock.

"That's because we're not in the Pridelands anymore". She said smiling, "We're in the Backlands".

"Yep" said Fuli, nodding slowly. "I come here to hunt sometimes".
Kion stopped following her.
"I don't know, Fuli". He said quietly "Maybe we should head back to the Pridelands".
Fuli sighed, annoyedly.
"What? It's not like we're going into the Outlands". She said, coming to a stop and turning back to face her friend.
"Well, yeah" Kion said sheepishly "But still, it could be dangerous".
Fuli walked back to where Kion was standing. She leaned in very close to his face until their muzzles were practically touching.

Fuli then turned away from him and continued back into the meadow.
"So are you coming or not?" she said, pausing briefly.
Kion took a deep breath and followed Fuli into the meadow, until they both were completely surrounded by the tall grass. Eventually they came into a small clearing somewhere in the center of the meadow.
"This looks like a good place to talk" Fuli said, nodding her head approvingly. She pawed at the ground softly, before slowly lying down.
"Talk?" said Kion, sounding more than a bit annoyed. "You brought me all the way out here just to talk?"
Fuli frowned.
"We could have stayed where we were, but you were moaning too loudly." she said raising an eyebrow.
Kion looked embarrassed.
"I'm sorry," he said looking down at the ground, "I-I couldn't help it".
Fuli quickly stood up and approached her friend, nuzzling him softly and purring.
"It's ok, Kion" she said understandingly, "I'm glad you were enjoying it. I was too, but I felt like we needed to have a talk before I took things any further"
Kion smiled and gave her an affectionate lick on the cheek.
"I understand". He said through a giggle. "You couldn't have taken things just a little further?"
Fuli smirked.
"Maybe I just didn't want you to get my paw all sticky". She teased.
Kion laughed.
"Haha, very funny." he said, rolling his eyes.
Fuli laid down on her back, and Kion laid down beside her. Both of them looked up at the stars, not saying anything for a while.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Kion said, turning his head to look at her.
Fuli looked back at him with wide eyes.
"I wanted to talk about us." she said with a slight smile.
"Yeah…" Kion said smiling back at her. "I have a feeling things aren't going to be the same between us".

"Then what's stopping us from being more than friends?" He asked bringing his face a little bit closer to hers.
"Well for starters, you're a lion, and I'm a cheetah." she said stating the obvious. "And what about our responsibilities with the Guard? Wouldn't being more than just friends make things more complicated?".
Kion's smile quickly vanished.
"Are you saying we can never be together?" He asked, saddened.
"I didn't say that," she replied, softly "but I just don't see how we'd make it work".
