AN: And we are back with another chapter! Slow one I must admit but next chapter we will be diving into the Forest Training Arc and that's where we will have some new lanterns as in more than one. (not so subtle hint) So without future adieu let's just jump into it!
Confort
After leaving the hospital Izuku took off into the skies, going to Uraraka apartment he quickly took off the ring and threw it aside. Running into the bathroom he began to wash the blood off of his hands, as he did flashbacks of Ingenium played in his mind.
3 days had passed since everyone had last seen GL and people were starting to get worried, especially Uraraka. She found out what happened to Iida's brother and that Izuku was involved. Uraraka tried calling him every chance she had but every time it would go straight to voicemail. "Come on Izuku..please pick up. I need to have someone check on him, but who? Wait, of course how could I forget!" Uraraka dialed a number.
Back in Uraraka's apartment Izuku spent his days sitting on the sofa, with the curtains closed. As he was sulking there was a knock at the door, Izuku got up to see who it was. Looking through the peephole he saw Aizawa standing there. He didn't want to talk to anyone so he turned to go back on the sofa, "I know you're in their Izuku, if you don't want me to break down this door I suggest you let me in"
Izuku turned around, "Alright have it your way, doors are expensive to replace so it's coming out of your pocket." Aizawa raised his leg ready to kick down the door. Just as his foot was about to hit the door Izuku opened it.
Aizawa was shocked at Izuku's appearance, his hair was a mess, his eyes were completely dead, and it seemed as if he hadn't seen the light of day. "Izuku…"
"Aizawa, what are you doing here?" Izuku asked, his voice was quiet.
"I heard what happened in Hosu" said Aizawa.
"Oh…" Izuku said looking away. "What do you want?"
"I want to talk about what happened," Aizawa said.
"Yeah? Well I don't..." Izuku went to close the door but Aizawa stopped him by placing his foot in between the door.
"I'm not leaving until we talk about what happened," Aizawa said insisting.
Izuku glared at him, "You want to talk about what happened, fine I'll tell you what happened. I let Ingenium die! Is that what you wanted to hear! That I let a hero die because I hesitated, that a hero is dead because of my actions…" Izuku said, fighting back the tears.
Aizawa sighed, "Is that what you think happened?"
"Of course! If I didn't hesitate...Ingenium would still be alive and Iida would still have an older brother" Izuku said with pain in his voice.
"That's not what I heard happened," said Aizawa.
"Huh?"
"Iida told us what happened. Izuku you were put in a position that most pro heroes never have to go through. So no one is blaming you for what happened, not even Iida or his family. Ingenium's death is a tragic one but you saved Iida's life. Without you there, both of them would have died" Aizawa said.
Izuku looked up in disbelief, "I...N-No...that's wrong…"
"Remember what I told you GL, you are human, we make mistakes. The actions you took that night saved my student and countless other heroes and for that I thank you. This wasn't your fault" Aizawa said.
"Then who's fault was it then? I was the one with the most powerful weapon in the universe and I couldn't save him." Izuku said going back into the apartment.
"Your ring isn't what makes you Izuku. Listen, the power of that weapon, any weapon," Aizawa pointed to his ring. "...Comes from here" he pointed to Izuku's heart. "But only when tempered by this" he pointed to his head. "All you have to do is become better, you think you made a bad call but you saved people's lives. So pick yourself up and get back out their"
Izuku stopped, "How can I do that when I can't even use the ring anymore?" raising his hand Izuku showed Aizawa the power ring was on his finger. However, although he had it on, the glow of green was gone.
"That's impossible, you charged it right?" Aizawa asked, shocked that the ring wasn't working.
"Of course I did but after that night it just stopped working.." Izuku said, putting the ring down on the table.
"Izuku...this isn't just about Ingenium's death is it? Tell me...what's stopping you…" said Aizawa.
Izuku looked back at Aizawa, "I'm afraid Aizawa, afraid that if I use my power's again that I will just end up hurting someone again."
"No, that's not it. You are afraid but not of that, you are afraid that you don't deserve that much power. That nobody does...well guess what you have that power now. You've done so much good with it, don't let this stop you from doing more good" Aizawa then stopped. "You know what, go take a shower we are going out"
"Out? To where?" Izuku asked.
"Doesn't matter, you don't have anything else to do, so you are coming with me" said Aizawa.
He was right Izuku didn't have anything better to do, so he did just that. After showering Izuku quickly changed and followed Aizawa to the train station, from there they went to Hosu.
Getting off the train they went straight to Ingenium's hero agency. "Go to the fire escape and listen in," Aizawa instructed.
Izuku did as he was told and climbed the fire escape. From there he could hear Aizawa's voice, "Iida"
"Ah Mr Aizawa, how are you?" Iida asked.
"I'm good, I'm here to ask if you need any help with anything," said Aizawa.
"No not really we have everything pretty under control here...wait there is one thing. Can you help us find the green lantern?" Iida said.
"Oh, can you tell me why?" Said Aizawa.
Izuku frowned when he heard that, "I knew it, they do blame me for his death. I should just leave"
Izuku got up to leave, "Because I want to thank him" he stopped.
"Thank him? Don't you blame him for your brother's death?" Asked Aizawa.
Iida shook his head, "No! Of course not, he saved me from Stain. My brother's death was caused by Stain, not by the Lantern. If it wasn't for him my parents would be burying two sons. I saw a look of despair on GL's face when he was at the hospital, he has to know that it wasn't his fault."
Izuku was sitting on the fire escape when he started to cry, "What would you tell him?"
"I wouldn't tell him anything, it looked like he needed a hug. I bet he's thinking that it was his fault but that couldn't be more wrong. He saved me and for that I will always be grateful" Iida said with a smile.
Outside Izuku pulled out his ring, "Look at me, I became so pathetic...so powerless. But no more…" Izuku slipped on the ring. "I will honor Ingenium's memory and keep helping others for his sake!" He said as a green glow began to shine from the ring.
"Well said Iida, I'll see what I can do. Call me if you need anything" Aizawa said leaving the building.
As he did a small piece of green paper fell from the sky. "Thanks Aizawa, I needed this, now I can keep on going on"
Aizawa smiled, "Damn brat...wait did he just leave me! He could have offered me a ride. Well whatever it's good to see him back on his feet" looking up Aizawa saw a streak of green shoot across the sky.
Uraraka was working out with Gunhead outside of the office."Keep those arms up Uravity," Gunhead said, throwing a punch at Uraraka.
Dodging out of the way Uraraka countered with a hard right to Gunhead's glove. "Good, now again!"
Uraraka repeated the process over and over until she was covered in sweat. "Alright take 10, then it's on to endurance training" Gunhead said putting down his training gloves.
Uraraka nodded and turned towards a bench where she had her towel and bottle water. Taking off the gloves she was about to reach for her water when something landed behind her. "There you are," a voice said.
Before she knew it Uraraka was picked up bridal style, "H-Hey?!" She yelled out surprised. Looking up she noticed it was Izuku, "GL!"
"Hey Gunhead! I'm borrowing her for this afternoon, I'll bring her back at night" Izuku said before flying into the air.
"W-Wait, GL" Uraraka tried to tell him something but Izuku didn't listen.
Gunhead stood there shocked, but then he smiled. "Ahh, young love"
"Enjoying the view?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah, it's incredible...wait a minute. What are you doing here Izuku, I've been trying to reach you for the last couple of days. I started to think something happened to you" Uraraka said, pinching his cheek.
"Ow ow, a lot happened these last couple of days" Izuku said looking down at Uraraka.
"It has to do with Iida's brother right?" Izuku slowly nodded. "Izuku…"
"I know Uraraka...I know...thanks for calling Aizawa," said Izuku.
Uraraka smiled, "Sorry I couldn't be there for you, now where are you taking me?"
"Ever been into space?" Izuku asked.
"N-No…" Uraraka said nervously.
Just then the green glow of the ring began to surround Uraraka in a thin layer, "You're going to love this" Izuku said flying up at a high rate of speed.
Closing her eyes Uraraka screamed out in fear as they flew into space. After a few seconds she felt her body stop moving, "Alright Uraraka, open your eyes"
Slowly opening her eyes Uraraka saw the gleaming of hundreds of stars, "Wow…This is amazing"
Izuku nodded, "Yeah it is"
"Why did you bring me here? I mean, I'm not complaining but still" Uraraka said, turning to Izuku.
"I come here to clear my mind…" Izuku sighed, "Listen about what happened with Iida…"
Izuku explained what happened the night of the Hosu incident, Uraraka said nothing but she listened to everything Izuku had to say. After a couple of minutes Izuku turned to the stars, "And there you have it, now we are here…"
Without warning Uraraka hugged Izuku, "I'm sorry you had to go through all that…"
"It's okay...I'm fine now thanks to Aizawa and you" Izuku said with a smile.
Uraraka broke the hug, "Me? I didn't do anything though"
Izuku shook his head, "That's where you are wrong, while I was...sulking. I couldn't stop thinking about you, Uraraka, you mean so much to me. Every time I closed my eyes I pictured you in my arms dead, I grew afraid. Afraid that because of this power that I will lose you one day. But after hearing Iida, I now know that I can and will protect you no matter what"
"I-Izuku…" Uraraka grabbed his hand. "I'm not going anywhere, you can count on that. I want you to use that rings power for not only my sake but for others. Always remember this, I'm not going to die any time soon, so stop worrying about that. Besides, if I die, who's going to take care of you" she said, placing her other hand on his cheek.
"Uraraka…" Izuku leaned his head on her hand. Her eyes gleamed with the stars in the background, Izuku leaned closer. Her lips sparked in the moonlight, Uraraka blushed as she saw him closer but she didn't shy away. Closing their eyes they both leaned in, their lips met.
After a few seconds they pulled away from each other, Uraraka ran her fingers across her lips. "W-We just…"
Izuku blushed, "Y-Yeah we did…you didn't like it?"
"N-No, I liked it...I just wasn't expecting it," Uraraka said blushing.
Izuku began to laugh, "What's so funny?" Uraraka asked.
"If you think about it, since I am working for UA and teaching you guys. You just kissed a teacher" Izuku said laughing.
Uraraka blushed even harder, "H-Hey! That's not funny, but I guess you are right. Won't this mean you'll get fired?"
"Only if they find out," Izuku said, grabbing Uraraka's hand. "Come on, let's get you back to GunHead"
"J-Just a bit longer, please. This place is just too beautiful" Uraraka said, pleading with Izuku.
Izuku sighed, "Alright, just a bit longer"
Hours Later
Gunhead was starting to get worried, it was now almost night time and Uraraka still hadn't come back. "GL said they would be back soon but it's already been hours. I hope nothing bad happens to them" he said standing outside his office.
Just then a green light began to fall from the sky, as it got closer he noticed it was a green ball. It landed in the outside exercise area, "Looks like you two are back" he said walking towards GL and Uraraka.
He also noticed that they were holding hands, "Oh? What's this? When did the two of you become so lovey dovey?" He said teasing the poor kids.
They quickly let go of each other's hands, "I-It's not what it looks like" Uraraka said embarrassed.
Gunhead laughed, "I'm just teasing, well come on Uravity you can hang out with your boyfriend later. Right now you are still in the middle of an internship and don't worry about this, I won't say anything"
Uraraka nodded, "I'll see you soon, make sure to call me"
Izuku nodded, "Of course, later and thanks Gunhead, for keeping this a secret"
"Anytime GL" Gunhead said as Izuku took off into the sky. "Sooo, did you two kiss?"
Uraraka blushed as she thought back to the event, "N-No…" she looked up to see Gunhead staring at her. "M-Maybe...Yes…"
"Aww how cute, just remember Uravity, GL technically speaking, is still a vigilante. So please be careful" Gunhead said, warning her.
Uraraka nodded, "I will sir"
"Good, now go get some rest. Tomorrow you will be working twice as hard" said Gunhead. Uraraka nodded and went back inside.
The week went by fast, Ingenium's funeral was a small private one, only reserved for family and close friends. Izuku didn't want to attend but he knew he had to. Iida saw him land in front of the church.
Izuku stood there waiting for him to yell, scream, or even punch him but none of that happened. Instead Izuku received a hug from Iida, "Thank you GL for coming today, it means a lot to my family that you are here. Don't worry none of us blame you for what happened" Iida said breaking away from the hug.
Izuku nodded and followed Iida inside, there he found his mother and father. He bowed as they walked towards him, "I'm sorry for your loss"
They looked at each other and smiled at Izuku, "Come on GL, let us remember our son's heroism."
The funeral was nice, after saying his goodbye and apologizing to Ingenium one final time. They went to lay his body to rest, Izuku followed from the skies. On the street he saw people lined up, just to say their goodbyes. Now in the cemetery they lowered his coffin down and began to cover him up. That's when they brought out a cauldron that was meant to light up.
"GL, if you would, please ignite the cauldron," Iida said. Izuku nodded and fired a blast inside. The flame was green at first but then changed to yellow.
Everyone's hero internships were now over, and they all were now back in school. Class 1A knew about Iida's brother's death and gave him their condolences. Iida was given the option to take some more time but he decided it would be best if he went back to school.
Izuku was in the teachers lounge waiting, class 1A was doing a rescue training race with All Might and he refused to go with them. That's when Aizawa walked into the room, "Ah GL there you are"
Izuku looked up, "Hey Aizawa, you needed me for something?"
"Nah, just wanted to follow up with you. So how are you doing?" Aizawa asked.
"I'm doing better, thanks to you, Iida, and Uraraka," Izuku said smiling.
"It's good to see you back on your feet kid. Listen, we are going to have final exams in a couple of days and we were thinking of having you participate" said Aizawa.
Izuku wasn't too sure, "You think that's a good idea? I kinda beat them all really easily last time, not to mention Lemillion."
"True, let's see, maybe you could help train some of the students then. Maybe something after school?" Aizawa suggested.
"Hmm that could work..alright I'll do that. Everyday until the day of the exam I'll help them out." Izuku said.
Aizawa nodded, "Good, now if you'd excuse me the rescue training should be over. From what I saw Uraraka has shown the most improvement, especially when it comes to hand to hand combat"
"That's good, I knew she could do it," Izuku said, trying to hide his smile. Aizawa left, leaving Izuku to his thoughts.
2 days later
Today was going to be when Izuku was going to start helping the students train. He was given alpha arena to help train them. Izuku was already in the gym when the whole class walked in, all wearing their hero costumes.
Izuku was surprised, "Woah I didn't think all of you would show up"
"We talked about it and we all agreed to come, you did kind of kick our butts last time. So it's clear that we still have a lot to learn" Momo said.
"Yeah! No way we can let you beat us again!" Kirishima said excitedly.
Izuku smiled, "Alright then, let's get started shall we? I'm guessing that you are most likely going to go up against some of the teachers. So I'm going to have you fight some of my constructs. They won't be too strong but if you are not careful they will hurt you, so keep that in mind. If I see that it's too easy for you I'll increase their strength, and if you need help with anything let me know"
Everyone nodded, "Good" Izuku pointed his ring towards the empty part of the gym and created solid green constructs of himself. "Take your pick"
The class went to work, with no restrictions on their quirk they had a field day. Bakugo blew up construct after construct, Kirishima smashed through them, Todoroki froze and burned them where they stood, Uraraka was fighting hand to hand with her constructs. Izuku watched from above and gave pointers when he saw someone struggling, "Ojiro! When you use your tail make sure to twist your body fully. If you do that your tail will have more power to it"
"Momo, try creating small denser objects, that way you can use your quirk for longer" Izuku gave advice.
Just then Izuku heard someone yell out, looking down he saw Mina had been knocked back by one of the constructs. "Man, I can't seem to get it right" Mina said, picking herself up. Just then Izuku landed in front of her.
"Everything alright Mina?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah, I'm just having trouble with a move. I can't seem to get my footing right" Mina said frustrated.
"Hmm, alright let's see if I can help. Show me" Izuku instructed. Mina began to execute her move, she ran at construct jumping into the air she created multiple acid balls and threw them at the construct. She managed to hit it but when she landed she would lose her balance and fall to the ground.
"See, I don't see what I'm doing wrong," Mina said.
Izuku walked over to her, "I think I know what's going on. Let me try something" he held out his hand to help her up.
Mina grabbed it and was pulled up, "Really!? You know what I'm doing wrong? Please help me"
"Show me your form again" Mina did just that. "You're form is off, this may be a little uncomfortable but please bear with it"
"W-What are you going…" but before she could say anything else Izuku went behind her, kneeled down and grabbed her thigh. "G-Green Lantern! What are you doing?!"
"S-Sorry but bear with it for a couple more seconds" Izuku began to shift her legs slightly. "You aren't using your full mobility. Use your hip joint, since women have shallower pelves . This gives you a much wider range of motion and lateral motion. If you move your entire body using your hip joint then it will make your moves faster and sharper"
The class stopped what they were doing and looked at what GL was doing, Uraraka's eyes went wide. "A-Are you almost done?" Mina asked, embarrassed.
"Almost…alright there, you go" Izuku said letting her go.
Mina turned, her face was bright red, "I-It's feels tight"
"You'll get used to it, now do that same move again" Izuku said backing away.
Mina got ready and did the same move, this time she actually landed it perfectly. "Woah, my body feels so much lighter and it's as if I just became ten times more flexible!"
"Remember that feeling, do that and you shouldn't have that problem anymore" Izuku said with a smile.
Just then Mina ran towards him, "Thanks GL! But maybe next time buy me dinner first" she said getting up close and personal.
Izuku blushed, "I-I didn't mean for that...I mean…"
Suddenly the sound of a construct shattering was heard, looking over Izuku watched as his clone faded away. Izuku's eyes went wide when he saw who did it, 'Uh-Oh'
Uraraka looked at Izuku before turning away, "Wow Ochaco, when did you learn that move?"
"Gunhead taught me how to use my quirk when fighting one on one. Hey Lantern, can I get another construct over here" Uraraka said, with a bit of jealousy.
"S-Sure, no problem" Izuku created another clone for Uraraka. After a couple of hours Izuku decided to call it a day. "Alright everyone, make sure to get some rest. If you want I'll be here at the same time, same place tomorrow" with that Izuku took off into the skies.
Uraraka watched him leave, to make it less suspicious for Izuku, they planned out that Uraraka would go to the station and wait for Izuku there. Now at the station Uraraka went to the back alley and waited for Izuku to show up. "Hey, ready?" he asked, landing in the alley with her.
She nodded, "L-Let's go then, Usually Izuku would create a bubble around her but this time she threw her arms around him. "Umm Uraraka?"
"Go," she said simply.
"Alright…" they took off to head back to the apartment. "Umm Uraraka? Everything okay?"
"Yeah everything is fine" she said looking away.
Everything was not fine, "Are you sure?"
Uraraka sighed, "Why did you touch Mina like that?" she asked, puffing her cheeks.
"I-I was only helping her with her form, that's all" Izuku then realized. "A-Are you jealous?"
Uraraka blushed, "N-No! I'm not jealous" she said, poking at his sides.
The poking tickled Izuku, "U-Uraraka stop, I won't be able to focus" but she didn't stop. "O-Okay, okay you win, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have done that with Mina. Please stop, have mercy!"
She stopped, "Good, now buy me some mochi"
Izuku relented, "Fine, let's stop by for some mochi"
AN: It's time for a new arc! Let's go! Also no one guessed who will be getting a ring soon? It's someone from class 1A so take a guess!
