"And then he used his semblance to keep it still in mid-air so Lloyd could shoot it's last eye out! How awesome is that!?"
After we left Ozpin's office my team and I met up with RWBY and JNPR and explored the campus together, for the most part. Immediately after we met up Weiss slipped away from the group and returned to RWBY's dorm room. The rest of us continued on without her and at the end of the day, we converged on the dining hall where Azura gave everyone an after action report on our encounter with the King Taijitu. My team and I sat together on one side of the table with Jaune and Pyrrha to my left, while team RWBY, minus Weiss, and Nora and Ren sat opposite of us. While Azura was giving everyone the detailed events of the fight I thought to myself about why both Summer and Ozpin did not want me to tell my team about Summer herself being in my head.
"Did you really do that?" Blake asked, peeking her eyes up from behind the book she was reading to look at me.
"Yeah and I pretty much drained my Aura in the process." I replied, pushing my now empty plate of food to the side.
"That… Is… AWESOME!" Ruby pumped her arms out in front of her. "You have an awesome sword and an awesome semblance!"
I chuckled a bit at the compliment the young girl gave me. I had thought both my weapon and my semblance were boring, yet the young girl called both of those awesome. I smile slightly formed on my face due to the compliment.
"Thanks, Ruby."
She gave me two thumbs up and a smile in response.
"Oh speaking of semblance," Yang said, "Azura, I didn't see you use yours. What is it?"
The smile that was present on Azura's face faded, the girl looking down slightly.
"I… I don't have one…"
Everyone in the group gave confused looks to the archer, who's attitude went from cheerful to dejected in an instant.
"What?"
"I don't have a semblance."
"Of course you have a semblance, "Nora asserted, "Everyone has one."
"If that's the case then why don't I have one?"
Although my semblance had shown itself almost immediately after we arrived on Remnant Azura never showed any sign of manifesting a semblance the past three months. This fed into her paranoia and led her to believe she had no semblance, even when I explained to her that wasn't possible.
"Sometimes it just takes time for it to show up," Ruby said, "One of my friends at Signal didn't know what her semblance was until just before last school year ended."
"Yeah it'll show itself soon, don't worry." I said, placing a hand on my best friend's shoulder, Azura resting her hand on top. Azura seemed to have her spirits lifted by what Ruby said though I could tell the subject was still eating at her.
We spent the rest of our time at the dining hall getting to know each other more. Ren and Nora had pretty much the same basic story to Azura and I: they both came from the same town in Mistral and had also known each other since childhood. Jaune and Pyrrha were also from Mistral, though Jaune grew up a farm boy and Pyrrha in Argus. Ruby and Yang told everyone else their story, and Blake had pretty much remained silent, only saying she came from 'outside the Kingdoms,' whatever that meant. Lloyd was from a small town far up north in Vale called Ares, and Nila came from a city major city in the middle of the Kingdom of Vale called Crossroad. Azura and I kept our cover story up of being from a small village in southern Vale. Lloyd and Nila knew the truth and played along. Afterwards we all decided to head back to our dorms and unpack before the day ended.
It didn't take long for us to settle into our new home. Azura and I didn't have much with us to begin with other than the few sets of clothes we bought after arriving on Remnant and our weapons. I finally passed out on my bed after a quick shower, exhausted from the events that took place earlier in the day. It didn't take long for me to doze off, and when I did the familiar white emptiness of Summer's realm surrounded me, Summer herself standing with her back to me and her hood down.
"Congratulations on your new position, team leader." She said, keeping her back to me.
"Thanks," I replied. Summer turned around to face me, her face full of anger. "Summer?"
"You should have told him what she said." Summer made no effort to hide the disappointment from her voice. "He took you and Azura in and gave you a home, and you decide to hide information from him?"
I was surprised. I had not seen Summer behave like this at any point the three months I had known her. But my focus quickly went from her behavior to what she had just said. She was mad at me for holding information back from Ozpin? Then what about Neither of them wanting me to say anything about Summer?
"Hold on a second," I said, raising my voice, "I should've told Ozpin what that woman said but I can't even tell my own team about you!?"
"I have to be kept a secret! If anyone-"
"Secret!? Didn't you hear what Ozpin said!? If someone keeps secrets from their team how can they be trusted? How does keeping you a secret make any sense-"
"Because Salem will kill you!"
The only noise that could be heard was the light wind-chime like humming of Summer's realm. Summer's face turned to horror as she realized what she said. Her eyes widened as if she had witnessed a murder, her arms moving to her chest. As for me, my attitude went from frustration to confusion.
"What?"
Summer took a couple steps back, averting her eyes away from me to the ground.
"Summer..."
"I- I shouldn't have told you that-"
"Summer!"
As Summer look up to me slowly I realized she was shaking heavily. Whoever Salem was, Summer had reason to fear her.
"Who is Salem?"
Summer continued to shake, fear not leaving her eyes. Her knees gave out and she fell to the ground, her breathing getting heavier.
"Summer!" I ran to her and crouched down, trying to calm her down. Summer whispered something but I couldn't make out what she said. "What did you say?"
She slowly looked up to me, still shaking. Her breathing picked up again and she buried her head into my chest, sobbing uncontrollably.
"She's the one that killed me!"
I sat there in shock. I had seen Summer cry only the day before, but I had never seen her in fear before. I took a few moments for me to comprehend what she had told me. Salem, the same person who killed Summer, would kill me if it had become knowledge that she was a part of me. Ozpin had to have known who Salem was or else he would have let me told my team. I then understood why they didn't want me to say anything to my team. Salem was a threat, and that was something Summer and Ozpin both understood.
