"Our job here is over," explained the jounin of the bowl haircut to the younger shinobi. "The reinforcements will take care from now on, as we have other issues to take care of."

The blonde kunoichi nodded after her previous question was answered, and so continued following the road. However, she still couldn't avoid looking back at the gates of the town they had already left. Naturally, when she witnessed what one of the jounin did to what seemed to be a civilian, she looked away and continued walking forward. After all, not much people watch a head rolling at that age and dismiss it as something irrelevant.

Believing they were aware of it, Ino decided not to report it to the pair of jounin in front of her, and just remained silent for the rest of the way. And it would be a long trip this time, as their next destination was closer to the border than to the town they'd previously visited. For some reason, the jounin decided to skip a couple of other towns they were supposed to go to. Maybe the village had already sent other people there.

Neji found it surprising that a country that, from what he knew, suffered much from war had such beautiful plains between cities and towns. The green grasslands that extended through the territories left unclaimed by people wasn't the sight they, young shinobi from the Leaf, were used to. Normally, it wasn't until they were older that they started to go on missions outside of the Village Hidden in the Leaves.

"So, how did the sound-nin you fought look like?" Asuma spoke up, taking the younger shinobi by surprise.

A couple of days went by for the group to arrive at their next destination, and it had been quite the experience for the younger ones. After all, they continued to learn to be a shinobi. And when they noticed the walls and gates of the city from afar, they cheered as they wouldn't have to camp anymore.

However, everyone's laughter and smiles vanished as soon as they noticed the smoke coming from inside the walls. Black smoke that flew up to the sky, and slowly covered the sky.

Might Guy and Asuma started running to their top speed once they saw the smoke, without any hesitation. Team Guy followed right after, but team 10 wasn't as sure as them. The sight of the smoke and the thoughts of what could be in there intimidated all of them, except for Gohan, who was used to things worse than that. But the saiyan wouldn't leave his teammates alone.

Shikamaru was the first to start running, but Chouji grabbed his arm and caused his friend to stop. Nara turned around, facing his friend, and noticed the concern in both his and Ino's faces.

"We have to go." Shikamaru said as he moved away from his friend's grip and continued running to the gates.

Chouji was clearly hesitant about what to do, even more than his blonde teammate. Nara leaving pressured him slightly to follow the rest, but the fear of what could happen remained superior than anything else.

"If you don't wanna go, you can stay here," Gohan said reassuringly while he cracked his knuckles. "There's no need for you to assume such a risk."

The fat genin felt relieved by the words of the saiyan, and he was ready to stay there, in safety. However, Ino's reaction was different. The blonde felt pushed to do something because she felt like Gohan saw them as weaklings, and for such urged them to stay away from trouble.

After hesitating for a couple of seconds, the blonde kunoichi spoke up. "No, I'll go with you. I'm no weakling, I'm a strong kunoichi."

Gohan, who had already turned to face the road that took to the gates, turned around with the intention of convincing them to stay, only finding Ino already running towards the city and his fat teammate scared about it.

"I'm sorry Chouji, but I can't leave you alone," said the saiyan, who knew his teammate didn't want to do it.

And in the blink of an eye, Gohan was already next to Ino, who had started running at least half a minute before the saiyan. Chouji was shocked by his speed, so he was forced to use his clan's technique to make his legs and feet bigger to keep up with it.

Once inside the walls of the city, they noticed the inferno it had become. Most of the bigger buildings had been put on fire, and villagers were desperately running for their lives on every direction. And that was not to mention the several corpses that were laying all the way through the main street.

"What the hell is going on?" Ino observed with horror on her face what had become of the city. Pure chaos.

Gohan couldn't help but remember how the city of Sasebo was left after the first attack of the androids, which distracted him from what was happening all around him. For such, Ino was forced to slap him in the face to snap him back into reality. Though the horror had also invaded the saiyan's face, and that wasn't a good sign for the other two genin, who just got even more scared.

"We have to be careful, but we should try to reunite with the others." The saiyan said, and as his teammates nodded, the three ran went into the chaos.

Their dive into the city wasn't ideal, as the first person they crossed ways with was a sound-nin, and of course they tried to attack them. However, Gohan punched him away, knocking him off without much problem. He wouldn't hold back this time.

As the mob of desperate villagers started to get bigger, the saiyan grabbed his teammates hands and started flying—which caught them by surprise, especially the blonde one, for whom grabbing her hand and flying was too much to ignore.

Knowing that he'll be questioned about his ability to fly, as he hadn't shown it to them, he decided to anticipate it and speak first. "I'll explain later, but we really don't have time to talk about this."

They nodded in understanding. However, understanding what the saiyan told them didn't help their nervousness and fear of flying for the first time in their lives. They wouldn't suffer from that for too long, though, as they were soon pulled down.

A huge cloud of sand suddenly fell and hit Gohan on the back, which destabilized him. However, it wasn't until the sand seemed to be pulled down by some strange force than the saiyan didn't collapse to the ground.

Gohan dropped his teammates before falling down, but he was aware that they would be in danger in any place he could leave them in. So he decided it was better to keep them close even if he knew who had brought him down.

And as he stood up, he found a redhead shinobi whose eyes stared directly into the saiyan's eyes. A stare filled with hatred and bloodlust, a stare that intimidated even the saiyan, who had already defeated the redhead before.

"Stay back." Was all Gohan said before a white aura erupted all around his body.

The cloud of sand adopted the form of a big fist and was thrown at the saiyan, who charged a ki ball on his hand and used it to scatter the sand with the explosion. Then, he dashed towards his opponent, but when he attempted to kick him, a sand wall was already standing between them to block the attack.

Gaara jumped back while the sand kept Gohan entertained. Punch after punch was blocked, and there was very little he could do in that situation because the sand moved way faster than it did in their previous fight.

However, when Chouji noticed that the redhead was standing away from where his sand was dealing with Gohan, he identified a very good chance. After making several hand seals, his right hand became giant, and he ran towards the redhead. Quickly, he attempted smashing Gaara with his giant hand, but the sand quickly went back to him and managed to block the attack.

What Gaara didn't think about was that he was now dealing with two shinobi and, taking advantage of the space Chouji had just gotten, Gohan kicked him in the abdomen. The kick was so strong that the redhead was thrown away, going through a building and finally crashing on the street on the opposite side of said building.

"Alright, quick, let's go!" Gohan said after fist bumping his teammate for his good job.

With the mob now behind them, there was no need for the saiyan to carry them while flying anymore, so they just went back to running. Still, people were running and screaming on every direction, even when they had already left the main crowd behind. Panic was all around the city. They started noticing some details that made them understand what the situation was. For instance, several sound and sand-nin were fighting against each other and against civilians, even there were some grass-nin involved as well.

After running for a couple more blocks, the young shinobi finally found someone familiar. It was Shikamaru, who was dealing with a couple of sound-nin in the middle of the chaos.

Chouji did not doubt for a single second before jumping into the fight and slapping one of the enemies after increasing the size of his hand immensely. Once one of the sound-nin was out, Nara was relieved from the exhausting fight he held.

Gohan took him on his shoulder while Akimichi dealt with the remaining sound shinobi. The saiyan left him sitting next to Ino before heading back into the fight.

Yamanaka was the first to notice the cut in the face of the genin of the pony tail, and, seeing that the other two were handling the foes, she grabbed a small part of the bandages she wore on her thighs. Though uncomfortable, Shikamaru let her use those bandages for his injury, as he knew it could get infected and severely worsened.

After the saiyan defeated the last remaining sound-nin near them, the two other members of the team joined Ino and Shikamaru. They noticed the bandage, which now covered pretty much half of Nara's face. The saiyan also noticed that Ino had used part of the bandages she wore, seeing that her left thigh was exposed compared to the right one.

"He had a cut, from his fight." The blonde kunoichi explained, anticipating herself to the questions from her teammates.

"Thought I'd die..." Shikamaru said after some seconds of awkward silence, with his voice trembling. "Thanks for coming."

"No problem," replied the saiyan while extending his arm to help his teammate stand up.

Nara followed and grabbed his hand, using it as a support to stand up. He turned to look at the saiyan, expectant of what they'd do next.

"We still gotta find the others, so if you can, let's keep going." He checked for everyone's face expressions, and the other three shinobi all nodded in agreement. And so, they went on.

The screams of desperation of the crowd before them went mute as they spotted each other. Standing on opposing roofs, both duos noticed the presence of the other. What was at first trying to search for survivors and find out the situation turned into something way bigger than they could've expected.

On one roof, a man with a green jumpsuit alongside another jounin with a chin strap beard and standard leaf-nin clothing. On the opposing roof, right in front of the other, stood two men with the same black cloak, one with blue hair and skin, while the other had long black hair that covered the left and right sides of his head partially.

The wind suddenly blew harder than before, and the men of the black cloaks let their conical hats fly away with the wind. And, even though they were identified by the pair of jounin before, it was now clear.

Why were they still in the country? That Asuma could not understand. However, something was clear for not only him, but his partner standing next to him. Whatever their reason for staying in the country was, they needed to be taken down. And in such circumstances, though not ideal, they were the ones with such a duty.
