In Which Leo Meets British Nico
Leo woke up in chains. That was bad enough- chains were never a good thing to wake up in, especially when you didn't know how you got there. He had been fighting Jadis... Knocked out by the pommel of her sword. That was just cheating. Who brings two swords to a one sword fight? Cheat. Leo grinned, at least he had managed to burn her face- an improvement really, her face was way to perfect. It needed a little livening up.
So, where was he now? He looked around the room- ice? Hadn't the witch realised he could just melt his way out. Seriously a massive flaw there- wasn't she meant to be old and wise? Well she can't have been that wise- everyone knows if you suppress a nation it will hate you and will not rest till you're off the throne. On the other hand if you treat them with respect they'll love you. Better to be a king, or queen that's loved for their mercy, (and occasionally get in trouble because they were too nice) than to be a king, or queen, that's feared (and will eventually have a rebellion that will lose them the throne).
Not that Leo would ever be a king- so it didn't matter.
The problem now was- it was freezing- actually really cold, and Leo might be warmer than the average person thanks to his gift, but he could still freeze to death- it was just a lot harder to. While other people could freeze from a night out in sub zero conditions, it would take Leo being exhausted and a whole week in the cold to do him in. Unfortunately he already was at the exhausted stage, well so long as he got out soon, he'd be fine, and he had to get back to the Argo two.
The Argo two and his friends. Now he knew his friends could handle themselves, but the Argo two was based around Festus and his design was very much mechanical. It could withstand really high temperatures, but not necessarily really low ones. So miss, White Christmas could cause some real havoc if she made it to the control room. Hopefully the others could drive her off before she got that far.
Even if she did get that far, the more sensitive circuits were password locked, and only he knew the password. Annabeth might be able to guess the digits and numbers, as she was really intelligent, but he doubted even she would figure out the eight letters on the end –Gaiarulz, no one would in a million years suspect that!
So, get out of here, go find the non-tame lion Aslan; ask his help on getting home; and hope he doesn't like the taste of Leo. Not much hope there, he was bound to be just as delicious as he was smoking hot.
First, escape route, there was a door made of wood, and a cell made of ice with a window, and a lump of black and blue in a corner that seemed to be moving. Ok, easiest way out would be burn down the door and find a way out. Also the least subtle way. Normally Leo wasn't a big fan of subtlety, but in this situation it was probably best to leave the door locked, and melt through the cell wall, until he got all the way through and could leg it. Hopefully he'd be out of sight before the witch had realised he was gone. So avoiding the wooden door, melting the wall and clambering out. Good job the cell wasn't so far underground.
Only thing not accounted for was the pile of black and blue, wait, was it breathing? Oh, oh dear. The blue bits were actually arms and legs, and Leo was pretty sure that they weren't meant to be blue. The whole normal human freezing to death in sub zero temperatures, yeah, he should probably stop that happening.
One more thing about Leo's high body temperature, something according to Piper was at least 50% of why she liked him, he was pretty much a living radiator.
Leo flared fire around his wrists and ankles, to heat the chains, and then let them cool. After repeating this a few times the chains began to develop cracks, why waste energy melting the chains when he could just shatter them via temperature change. Leo was sure there was a scientific way to explain why that worked. Something about heat making the particles move more, but hey, the majority of his science lessons were fiddling with the water taps, building structures from things in his pencil case, and trying not to set the room on fire from boredom.
The chains shattered and Leo made his way over to the bundle, picking the boy up and pulling him against his chest. Not like that, the kid was at most twelve, besides it was saving the boys life, who cares if it might be a bit awkward when he woke up. Leo raised his body temperature and the kid snuggled into the heat. Leo rubbed the kids' hands with his to warm them up and get rid of the blueness. If the kid saw himself now he'd think he'd turned into a smurf.
Well, there went escaping as soon as possible. The witch had a, he was going twelve, a twelve year old in her ice prison. Yeah it was fine for Leo, it made sense to stick the fire user in an ice cell, and it might drain his power. It wouldn't, but Jadis might have thought it would. But a twelve year old- a normal twelve year old: that just wasn't on. So he'd have to take the boy with him when he left, which meant he'd have to wait till the boy woke to leave. Great, Leo was bored already.
