The starry night sky shone through the bedroom window as Mercedes sat on her bed, phone in hand. She started to dial Quinn's number, only to remember that the blonde didn't take her phone with her before her storm out of their home.

A small knock on her bedroom door took her out of her trance. "Hey chica." Santana walked to the bed and sat. "You okay."

Mercedes rolled her eyes and threw the phone to the side. "Of course not. My fiance decided to go MIA, while I'm sitting here waiting for her dumbass to walk back in, having me worried sick. So, no, I'm not okay." She clipped.

The latina slightly cringed. "Yeah, sorry. Stupid question."

"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have an attitude with you." She sighed. "I just...I don't understand why she's so against this."

Santana shrugged. "Well, I think it's one of those things that you really won't understand fully. The change that you want is a big deal to her...to us." She grabbed her hand. "You know, I think it's admirable that you'd want to."

Mercedes looked at her. "Really?"

"Of course." She smiled. "I feel like this is you accepting us, and to be a werewolf isn't just some cool transformation that scientists and all these people in the past and present spend years studying about. It's a way of life that's been passed down through centuries. A curse that was brought upon us long ago. What we choose to do with this is up to us. Some keep on the straight and narrow, others use it as a weapon to do bad things that we deal with till this day. This bond is something that will in a sense bring you together as one."

"Well, she seems to think that this would be the biggest mistake I could make."

Santana sighs and shrugs. "I think it's more of trying to keep you from the burden that can sometimes come with the transformation."

"Ugh, Santana, I don't know how many times I have to say it. I don't care about that! Is that-"

"Hey, hey." She stood in front of the girl. Mercedes had her hands on her face, frustration clearly working her nerves. "Can I tell you about a cousin of mine? Her name was Yessenia and just like you and Quinn, she fell in love with a human. His name was Joey. He wanted the same thing you wanted; the only difference about this story is that Yessenia didn't bother to take the consequences into consideration. We all knew what happens when you put the human body through something so strenuous as changing them from human to werewolf."

Mercedes removed her hands from her face, staring up into her friend's eyes. "What happened?"

Santana shook her head. "He nearly died."

"What do you mean?"

"He went into almost like a coma, which is what happens. However, his heartbeat was very faint...hell, his heart even stopped beating for damn near an hour. Yessenia thought she lost him- she thought she lost the love of her life."

Mercedes' eyebrows furrowed. "Did he ever wake up?"

"He did. After a couple days, he woke up. He nearly killed his two brothers that were at the home at the time during his rest period to look after him. It hurt Yessenia to do so, but she had to knock him clean out to prevent any bloodshed."

The two girls sat in silence as the latina allowed her friend to think. She was only a little pup herself when she heard what happened. The only way Yessenia's parents (Emilio's sister and her husband) found out, was because the girl called them in a frenzy; she panicked and didn't know what to do and was scared of what would happen when he woke up again.

"My papi's sister, Sierra, was not happy when she found out what her daughter had done. Especially since her daughter wasn't prepared for the outcome."

"So...so what happened to them? Yessenia and Joey?"

"Joey woke up. He was hard to control for Yessenia herself, because like I said, she didn't bother to learn about what was to come for her mate in the days of his transition. Sierra and her husband were there to help their daughter through it. Although disappointed, they knew it was better to make this as less difficult as they could."

"Damn… I don't know what to say."

"Yessenia cried everyday for a month straight; she was distraught. She had to watch her mate go in and out of consciousness. His screams from his body changing from the inside out. She watched as he was at mercy of every full moon that came for the first few months. Joey would cry and sometimes pass out from the pain of his shifting. The first few times of shifting, your body isn't used to it. Eventually, it calms to a soft vibration throughout the body."

Mercedes took a deep breath and looked into brown orbs again, before looking down. "I know Quinn would be more careful than to just do something out of the whim like Yessenia."

"She would. Can you sort of understand her hesitation though? I was lucky enough that Brittany was already a werewolf. Do you think Quinn wants to watch you go through even half of what Joey did?"

The ebony girl shook her head. "No. But she should know that I know she wouldn't let anything happen to me. We'll be prepared. This is what I want, really."

Standing up, Santana pulled the girl to her feet and pulled her into a hug. "She wouldn't, but that doesn't stop her from being concerned for your well being." The two girls pulled away after a few moments. "I know you're worried, but I'm sure Quinn is okay. She just needed a little space. I'm sure you want to smack some sense into her head as much as I do, but… let it simmer with her for a little bit."

"Yeah, yeah. Ok." Mercedes pulled away and walked towards her bathroom. Maybe a nice long shower will pass some time. Santana walked down to the kitchen; she poured her a small glass of red wine. Of course, she understood why Quinn was so hesitant, like she explained earlier, newborns basically need to be watched over 24/7. She also knows that Quinn paid attention to her parents when they explained what happens in these situations; the latina had full faith in the blonde that she would take care of her mate. It all just depends on how well Mercedes adapts through the process.

Quinn opened the back door slowly and walked through the kitchen, making her way towards the stairs. The young woman hoped that Mercedes would be asleep by now once she got upstairs. Opening the bedroom door, in the back of her mind, she knew her mate would still be awake...even at this late time of night. Peering at the king size bed, laid the woman she loved dearly. From the sound of her breathing, Quinn was in fact correct in her thought- Mercedes was still in fact awake. Silently, Quinn walked over to the bathroom, going for a quick shower.

Mercedes knew it was going to be a sleepless night the moment she laid in bed and couldn't slide into sleep mode. No matter what was going on, Quinn would come and snuggle close to her, giving her a much easier time falling asleep. Tonight though...she knew it would be hard. Especially, with the anger she still felt towards the blonde. The shower stopped and after a few minutes, Quinn walked out, dressed in a pair of matching pajamas to see the woman sitting upright. She took a deep breath and walked over to the dresser beside the bed. "We can talk about this tomorrow, let's just get some rest." She said, grabbing her phone.

Without a further second, Mercedes snapped. "Quinn what the hell! You think I'm gonna be able to just go to sleep so easily?! Why did you come back so fucking late and where the hell did you go?!"

Rolling her eyes, Quinn responded. "Nowhe-"

"Roll your eyes again and I'll roll them out your head for you." The woman grilled.

The two stared at each other for a few moments. Quinn licked her lips and set her phone down. "I went to talk to Frannie." Walking towards the bed sitting beside her mate. "I didn't intend to be out so late, I'm sorry."

Mercedes looked the other way to stare at the wall. She didn't want to look into those hazel eyes she loved so much because she knew she would probably start crying again.

"We actually talk about nothing really important...we just sat enjoying each other's company. Once she asked me why I was not so happy in the first place, we got caught up into the whole conversation about what happened earlier and-"

"Santana told me about what happened with Yessenia and Joey."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"So you know partially why I'm so weary of this?"

Mercedes looked back at the blonde. "Partially?"

"Another part of me feels like I would be taking away your humanity. There's no going back after it; I don't want you to regret doing this, because things are going to be different. If you enjoy what you have as a human, I can't be responsible for taking that away from you."

"Quinn I told you that I thought about this for a while. For years. You wouldn't be taking anything from me. The connection we have would be stronger; if anything, you would have all of me and I want all of you. I would never and I mean never think you are taking anything from me."

"It's dangerous-"

"I know that!" She stood. "I trust you with my life, Quinn… You have to trust yourself...to know that you would take care of me throughout it all." Quinn clenched her jaw and exhaled, but didn't say anything. Mercedes walked over to the bed grabbing a pillow. "Whatever, I guess you don't think I'm grown or capable enough to make my own decisions. I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight."

"No, stop that's not it at all." The blonde said. "I know you're upset." Before Merceds could back around the bed towards the bedroom door, she grabbed her wrist. "You're not sleeping on the couch, you definitely won't get any sleep if you do that."

"Quinn, let me go-" She was silenced with a solid kiss.

Quinn pressed kisses along her lips to her neck and wrapped her arms around the woman. "You don't think I want this for us? I do." Mercedes tried to push her away, but that just made Quinn hold her tighter. "And you're right ok? I don't trust myself." She admitted.

Mercedes sat her down and proceeded to straddle her across. "Then trust me when I say I know we'll be fine." She ran her hands through her short blonde hair. "Can you do that?"

Instead of answering, Quinn closed the distance between them with a soft kiss. She laid back, pulling her closer.

In a matter of seconds, all clothes were thrown across the room, with Quinn thrusting in and out the woman. Mercedes held the blonde below her closer, nails digging into near alabaster skin. All of her emotions were elevated, bouncing from anger to love, she didn't know which to stick with, so she just let it flow. She pushed Quinn flat against the bed and looked deep into neon green orbs. "I was worried about you."

"I know." The woman moaned, running her hands along the skin of her mate's arms to her hands.

"I need you to trust me."

Quinn placed one hand on her hips and the other against the bed, pushing her to move faster, knowing the girl was getting close. "I do." She sat up, sucking and biting at any piece of skin available to her. "I'm sorry. I love you." She chanted.

Mercedes wrapped her arms around the blonde's neck, matching her pace. Her hands pushed the blonde more into herself as if they could become one. Both lovers melted into each other; even though they were only separated for a mere few hours, it felt like forever for the ebony woman and even more so to Quinn's inner wolf. A silent scream came from Mercedes as she froze, her breathing fast and laboured.

Quinn watched as her mate let go, the tension slowly leaving her body. Before Mercedes could totally pull away, she flipped them, caressing her inner thighs. Mercedes' breath hitched. Quinn knew she had to work early tomorrow, but she didn't care as she began to thrust harder and faster.
