Chapter 17: Bonds That Tie

He quickly strides down the long narrow corridor, making haste with important news. Hoping his boss(es) wouldn't be too upset with being woken up so early in the morning. It was a lashing he would take in stride; orders were to report as soon as he learned of movement with Mr. Uno. However, the night guard, slacking on duty, fell asleep and now three hours later he rushed to make up for lost time. Jenkins often wonder why he just didn't quit, but he was loyal to the Uno family, even the estranged children who he now served. Until the day they no longer needed his services, he would provide them with all he could offer. Reaching the large oak door to the master bedroom, fixing his lapel and straightening his vest, he went in… preparing for the worst…

Walking up to the five large separate four post beds, he cleared his throat "Sir(s), excuse my transgression for disturbing your slumber, but I've urgent news…" he beckons

Sleepily they speak in unison, "Jenkins… this had better be worth disturbing our beauty sleep. You know how we hate to miss our eight hours of consecutive well-deserved rest. Well… spit it out, what is it?" They roar

"Ah… yes…sir(s) Mr. Uno was spotted flying off a few hours ago… we suspect he is on his way to Europe. That is all we can determine at this moment sir(s)…" He informs

"WHATT! You are just telling us NOW!? Why didn't you say something sooner?"

"The cameras were malfunctioning sire(s), so it took a while to fix. By that time, they had already taken off. I do sincerely apologize for the failure on my part." He lies

"Next time Jenkins let us know as soon as anything happens, but enough of that… we have to get ready. London awaits our arrival and so does dear ol' Nigel Uno." They smirk

"Yes, right away young master(s) I'll prepare the jet at once!" He bows, doing an about face walking out.

Sighing, he knew today would be a long day. At least he kept the security team from losing their jobs, now he had to make sure he kept the DFCFDTL entertained for the next half day… Oh Joy!

The duo lay on the side of a hill waiting for their daring leaders to give the word that either everything was alright or that a shit show was about to start. It'd had already been a solid half hour and Hoagie was becoming bored with the task.

Laying on his back, Hoagie had been cloud watching while he waited. Turning on his side, his now fiancée, was diligently watching the little house for any signs of duress.

He tiptoes his fingers toward her, slowly walking his fingers up her arm stopping at the shoulder. Scooting closer, he began to massage her neck, he felt her relax underneath his touch.

"Hoags…. Quit it…" She whines shrugging his hand away

He knew, she wouldn't resist long, Abby hated watch duty just as much as he did. Continuing his advances, he trailed his fingers down her back. She rewards him with a shudder, he smirks to himself, only a matter of time now…

"Come on Abs… nothing is happening. If it were, they'd have given us the signal. From the looks of it, it's just some lady who lives here…" He states trailing his fingers up the center of her back.

"Even so…" she gasps, "We have to be…. Ready…"

It was becoming a losing battle; he knew just where to touch to make her lose herself. Slowly she closed her eyes, angling her neck, slightly lowering her binoculars. Hoagie inched closer, covering her body with his. He nips at the back of her neck, then at her ear…

He whispers, "Abs, it's been half an hour… let's take a break… I know you want to…"

Now nibbling on her ear, rubbing his hands down her sides.

"Ah, fuck it…" She groans

Turning around, she pushed her lips to his. Relishing the taste of his lips. She knew they weren't being very professional, but a quick make out session, never hurt anybody…Hoagie groans, happy that she gave into him as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Her fingers shifted through his auburn locks massaging his scalp as their tongues fought for dominance. She bit down, suckling his bottom lip, eager to taste more of him.

"You're beautiful, you know that…" he says into her lips, catching his breath

Not awaiting a reply, he attacks her neck, biting down onto the collarbone. A moan barely escapes her lips, as she gasps in surprise, trying desperately to keep her voice in. Hoping they were far enough away, so that any echoes from the woods didn't reach the house. The heat from her body started to rise from the thought of being caught out in the open…it excites her. Removing her jacket, she helps Hoagie remove his T-shirt, now the two only sport a camisole and a tank top. Gazing down at his soon to be wife, he wonders how he got so lucky…

'Wife… I like the sound of that.' He thinks

Leaning down he took her lips with his own as she wraps her legs around his waist. She knew he was aroused, purposely grazing his groin while doing so. He hisses, momentarily breaking the kiss, she'd play the game that he started. His teasing got them into this situation, and she would make sure to come out on top. Hoagie cups her breast, massaging them so that the nipple starts protruding through the thin fabric, as he held her at the hips to keep himself steady. Abigail writhes underneath the weight of his body, desperate for skin to skin contact. Lifting his shirt partly, running her hands down his midsection, stopping just above the waistband. Again, she rolls her hips, letting him know she could feel all of him… their make out session steadily turning into dry humping, neither wanting to halt in their actions. Lustful half lidded eyes stare at each other. Hungrily their lips met again while hands continue to roam…

"Hey mister! Are you guys wrestling?" The voice of a young boy rang out

Startled Abby and Hoagie sit up, Hoagie bringing her close to his body. Right next to them, two young boys, watched them curiously…

"Uhh… ummm…" Nigel continuously stutters

Again, gaining control of the situation, Rachel reacts fast

"Uh… Hi!" She chuckles nervously

"I'm McKenzie and this is my husband Nile, your wife Nancy was just helping us out. Providing her gracious hospitality to complete strangers… Oh and if you don't mind sir, she offered your services in fixing our car…" Rachel rambles

He laughs, "That does sound like Nance, she always seems to volunteer me for every detail known to man. Whenever you two feel like you're ready to head out, I'll give your vehicle a look-see."

Ben sighs, with a small smile, "A man's job is never done, am I right…. Nile… was it?" He chuckles, staring right at Nigel

Gaining his composure, Nigel looks him dead in the eye with a smirk, "No… I suppose it isn't. Once you have a job, you must see it through, no matter how long it takes." He nods

The two having their own silent conversation as the women talked.

"Oh Hun, did I tell you the love birds, are celebrating their honeymoon here in London. Isn't that just lovely? Apparently, Nile was born here, and miss McKenzie brought him here as a surprise… it is soo romantic!" Nancy informs

"You don't say…? Hmm…well I'm sure you two will enjoy our quaint little country for the short time you will be here. I know you'll be eager to return home soon." He states, narrowing his eyes, inspecting the couple as discreetly as possible

"Yes, as much as I like traveling, I prefer the comfort of being home. Plus, we have a whole new life we get to start together." Rachel enthused, gazing toward Nigel

"Of course… we don't plan on being here long. I was hoping to see a few relatives, maybe an Uncle or two, even my Grandfather if possible. Sadly, I don't know their exact whereabouts, but that's quite alright. As long as they are alright and staying out of trouble, I can be at piece. Maybe one day, my wife can visit them and see the family… I'm sure they are truly missed." Nigel wraps his arm around Rachel giving her a squeeze and a smile.

Again, he turns his gaze, staring into Ben's eyes as he kept a smile on his face. Ben sighs, reluctantly smiling as well

"You know Nile… you're right, it's important to visit family occasionally. Maybe I should take a trip home myself. It has been a while since my brother has seen me, and I'm certain he'd enjoy meeting his nephews."

"Really Ben! How wonderful, I've always wanted to see that side of your family. The boys will be so excited!" Nancy exclaims

Ben bellows out a laugh, "They will be more than excited; we won't get them to go to sleep until the trip. Now, I don't want to keep this young couple waiting, let's go look at this car of yours."

Ben rises out of his seat, followed by the duo. As they say their farewells, Ben leads them out the door. Letting Nigel and Rachel take the lead, he allows them to show the way. Taking Rachel by the hand, as they walk together keeping up the lost couple charade, he directs them. Passing by Chad's stakeout spot, he gives a subtle signal, to be on guard. About one hundred meters from the car, Ben speaks up.

Clearing his throat, "So… you go by Nile now…? Sounds… how do I say… dull? So where is the rest of your gang of misfits… or am I to believe this is a cordial visit for little ol me.?" He questions

"I see you haven't changed that much, ol bean. Always straight to the point. Though I can see your temper has tapered off a bit."

Nigel stops walking, turning around, with one hand in his pocket, while the other rests on Rachel's shoulder. Trying to hold a nonthreatening posture… for now

Clicking his tongue, "Well, that's all thanks to Nance…and I can see that you are doing fine as well." He nods towards Rachel

"But… you still haven't said why you are here Mr. Uno…"

"It is as you've said Father… or is it… Ben now… mostly just a visit, we don't mean any harm. To answer your question, some of my friends are here as well, we are… scouting the area for any potential threats. So far we haven't found any… unless you know of any?" Nigel questions

"Are you to imply that I'm a threat?" He scoffs

"I haven't done anything remotely evil since the boys were born. Now if you want to go see dear old dad, I'm sure you'll find some sinister plot to force feed them tapioca pudding and take medication." He states sarcastically with an eye roll

Chad glides through the brush, unheard or seen, getting into a good defensive position. Ready for any sign of trouble, he tries signaling the others, but gets no response in return.

"Alright guys, chill… Nigel nothing seems to be a midst, so lets just talk for now. Fath… uh… I mean Ben seems like he just wants to spend time with his family." Rachel intervenes

Crossing his arms, "Miss McKenzie, Rachel I presume, is right as usual… I mean you no harm. My life of villainy is behind me. I have a new life, with my wife and kids. I'll admit, sometimes I do think about it… but that was a long time ago and that was a pretty bad time for me." He confesses

Eyeing him, Nigel relaxes, "Thank god… I don't think I would have had the nerve to fight you, especially after seeing your family… Also…I meant what I said by the way. Mum and Dad would love to see you again, even for a little while. Dad talked about you when I visited. He misses you a ton, even though you were a constant pain in my arse, I'd put that aside for him." Nigel reaches out, extending his arm for a handshake

Skeptically Ben took it, hoping it wasn't a ruse… Seeing no ill will, he brings Nigel into a hug.

He whispers, "Thank you… thank you for giving me a chance."

He let go,"Honestly I was afraid… I felt that someone… or something was coming to disrupt my life. I was more than half tempted to put on my suit again, no matter the disarray it would cause. I'd do anything to protect my family from anyone… no matter friend or foe, even family …" He informs

Nigel nods,"To tell you the truth… I was ready for an all-out battle. I didn't know what to expect coming here. I was angry and afraid; my life is constantly being flipped upside down right now. I was so relieved when I saw your wife and not you… I'm glad I was wrong and maybe… just maybe this will all be over soon."

As the two came to an agreement, making a silent truce, they hoped to start over and make amends for the time they spent fighting over the years. Though they would probably never agree on anything, this they could… Family first and foremost, above all else…

Nigel shifts through his pockets, "Ben… before I forget, I have something of yours… Ah! here we go!" he exclaims

Pulling out a small black mahogany pipe, handing it to his uncle.

"I know you've been missing that… I completely forgot I had it when I went away. It's yours, there is no need for me to hold on to it. I apologize for taking something you've held dear." Rubbing his head sheepishly

"Oh… my! I thought I'd never see Lucy again! Nigel ol bean, thank you… thank you!" he pulls him into an embrace, which included Rachel

"Uh… Lucy? And I thought Hoagie was bad with naming his possessions." He laughs

Before he could explain, the wind picked up around them almost knocking the company back. Looking up, they notice a midsize helicopter hovering above them…

Nigel groans in frustration, "Bloody Hell…" he frowned

If anyone could have found this place, he knew it was them…

'Well so much for not having to fight today…' He thought

Even though Hoagie brought them up together to cover them, Abby pushes him away letting him fall to the ground. Scrambling to get their tops, she hustles trying to hide her embarrassment and think of a way to explain what they had been caught doing to the young boys in front of them. Luckily, they already gave the couple a way out…

"Who was winning? Sometimes Ma wins when she wrestles Pa… he always says a bad word when he loses." The child explains

Hoagie burst into laughter while Abby tried to make sense of what is going on.

"First of all, how do you know yo parents 'wrestle'?" she asked air quoting her statement

"Secondly it ain't nice to sneak up on people Sweetheart. Third who are ya and where did ya come from sugah?" She asks, placing her jacket back on

The young lad tries to think, while his younger brother clings to his back, mimicking his cute thinking posture

"Whelp sometimes at night when I can't sleep, I go to Pa's room and they make a ton of noise. They look like they are wrestling so I go back and sleep with Jack, since they are having their play time." He states nonchalantly

Hoagie continues to snicker, as he lays on the ground, not bothering to put his shirt back on as the breeze graces his body.

"Also, I'm James and he is Jack." He states pointing at his younger brother

"We live over yonder." Again pointing, this time toward the house they were supposed to be monitoring

"We found ya, cus Jack heard some noise in the woods. So, we came to investigate." He smiles proudly with his hands on his hips

Hoagie snorts and whispers. "Well so much for being quiet."

Abby flushes, wishing he were closer so she could strangle him. This was all his fault after all, yet he pushed the blame on her.

Glaring in Hoagies direction, Abby questions the boys. "You know babe, it isn't a good idea for y'all to be wonderin so far from home. Won't yo parents be worried? Abby knows her momma always worried about her when she hung out with friends."

"Who's Abby?" James asks

"I'm Abby and that nut is Hoagie." She thumbs over to her mess of a fiancé

"Why do you talk funny, Miss Abby?" James questions

Abby's eye twitches, while Hoagie sits up and smirks. He knew Abby hated people asking about or making fun of her speech pattern. Hoagie was intrigued on how she would handle the kid. She inhales taking a deep breath, rubbing the bridge of her nose, letting out a deep exhale.

"James, honey… da way Abby talks isn't funny, she prefers to talk dis way. Abby has been talkin like dis her whole life, somethin like dat is pretty hard ta change sugah. Not everyone will be like yo brotha and you, some people will be different and dats okay. We all hafta learn ta accept people for da way dey are baby. Otherwise we tend ta hurt others feelins and we don't want dat now do we sweetheart?" Abby explains

"No ma'am! I always get into big trouble when I hurt Jack's feelings. Pa gets angry at me, I don't want to get in trouble, Miss Abby. Please don't tell Pa!" he pleads

She gives him a loving smile "Abby won't tell ya daddy, she just wants you ta undastand dat there are hundreds of different people in da world. One day, like today, you'll meet dem and see dat dey aren't like you. Abby just don't want you ta be rude sugah, Abby isn't mad at ya in da slightest."

"Thanks Miss Abby, you're the greatest!" He exclaims hugging his brother

Abby just chuckled, never thinking she'd have to explain herself to a kid. Although, she figured she handled it very well, usually she'd end up sassing anyone who asked about her quirk. As always, Hoagie found it quite amusing, since it wasn't him on the tail end of her lashings.

Abby glanced over at her still smiling fiancé, then again at their surroundings. "Come on you two, let's get y'all home. Like Abby said, she doesn't want yo momma ta worry." She rises, leaning down to take Jake's hand.

Shyly he took it, while the other made its way to his mouth.

"Do ya know how ta get back home James?" Abby asks

"Yep, yep! It's not too far, come on!" He shouted

"I guess we better go before we lose him." Hoagie states, finally getting to his feet, wrapping his shirt around the back of his neck.

Abby walked behind with little James, keeping an eye out, making sure they wouldn't get lost. The journey wasn't long, barely five-minute hike trek from their overwatch. As Abby rounded the corner through the brush, James runs up bursting through the front door. Not wanting to be left behind, Jack wiggles free from Abby, rushing to follow his brother. Both left the door open, with Abby and Hoagie waiting at the threshold. Both were unsure, so they decided to knock and get a small shout.

"Hello, anyone home?" Hoagie bellows, "We brought your kids home, they seemed to be playing out in the woods." He called out

The couple walk into the house, wondering what happened to the host and their friends. A noise from the kitchen alerted them, both put their guard up.

"Oh, my what a surprise, two sets of visitors today. My how lucky we are. Come in, come in… have a seat, did I hear you brought the boys home? I was wondering where those two rascals ran off to. Again, where are my manners, my name is Nancy Uno, but you can call me Nance." She enthuses

Abigail and Hoagie exchange glances, knowing that one another thought the same thing. This was definitely Father's house…

On to the next one! I'll get working on it soon!
