topsyturvy-dream You are too good at guessing what I'm going to write next lol XD And yes Kaze will be taunting Sasuke A LOT which will be kind of frustrating for him but good for Emi ;)

For the rest of the day I couldn't stop thinking about the information Kaze had given me and how best to warn Sasuke without telling him how I knew. If he found out that I had been in contact with that man again I'm pretty sure he would never leave my side and Kaze only seemed comfortable relaying his information to me when I was alone. Not that I blamed him, Sasuke could be quite intimidating and he probably wouldn't hesitate to strike Kaze down without a second thought if he ever laid eyes on him. For the sake of protecting my family I could delay telling the truth for a little while longer.

When Sasuke suggested that we have dinner at a restaurant that evening I was overjoyed, not just because I could have a break from cooking but because the most ingenious plan had popped into my head. I followed Sasuke and Yoichi outside before pretending that I had forgotten something. Once alone inside I rummaged through Sasuke's things until I found a blank scroll, then using my left hand instead of my right I scrawled a message. I pushed our bedroom window open and pinned the scroll to the wall with a kunai. Even though it was for a good reason I felt awful being so dishonest. If Sasuke was even the slightest bit suspicious and asked me about it when we got back I would crack, I wouldn't be able to lie to his face when all he ever did was look at me with eyes full of adoration.

"What did you forget?" Sasuke asked me when I rejoined them outside.

On the outside I appeared calm and relaxed but inside I was panicking. Why didn't I just grab my coat on the way back out?

"You're not supposed to ask, Dad. It's lady stuff." Yoichi piped up.

"Lady stuff?" His father inquired.

"Yeah. Doing stuff with their hair, putting on lipstick and choosing bras. Kenji says his mum does it a lot and she gets mad if he asks her about it."

From what I remembered from a conversation with Kenji's mother, the reason she got mad is because he would constantly rush her and use her bras as catapults to sling rocks at his friends. Even if Yoichi had it a little wrong Sasuke was laughing enough to have completely forgotten about getting an answer to the question he'd asked me.

Just as we were stepping into the busy restaurant, Yoichi fired off a question of his own.

"Dad, what is it called when you and mum disappear for a while together?"

The family at the booth nearest the door clearly overheard, the parents sitting with their two children spun round gaping at us. My face slowly turned pink and I tried my best to disappear behind Sasuke, who was finding it hilarious.

"That's called heaven." Sasuke grinned, reaching behind and taking my hand.

"Sasuke!" I gasped, feeling my cheeks burning.

"Huh?" Yoichi tilted his head to the side, observing us with a look of pure confusion on his face.

Someone was coming over to show us to our table so I quickly said, "It's called adult stuff."

"Okay." he shrugged, losing interest in the conversation.

He clambered onto his seat opposite me and Sasuke and started to drool over the menu.

"Adult stuff." Sasuke laughed, grasping my leg under the table.

"I panicked." I replied glumly, hiding my pink cheeks behind my menu.

"He'll forget about it by tomorrow." Sasuke reassured me.

He browsed the selection with his chin resting on my shoulder, he already knew what I was going to order so when the waitress came over he ordered my favourite miso ramen for us both and then let Yoichi order his own food.

Feeling very grown up, Yoichi announced, "Yakitori!"

"Yoichi." I said sternly.

"Oh. Please?" he added to the waitress.

Our server beamed at our little lad, she was looking at him like he was the cutest kid in the whole world and in my opinion he was. There was no way he couldn't be coming from Sasuke.

We had such a nice time that evening that I almost forgot about what was waiting for us when we got home. Sasuke spotted our open window as we approached our home, his face falling deadly serious. After lifting Yoichi down from his shoulders and releasing my hand he darted inside.

"What's Dad doing?" Yoichi tugged on my hand, his little face a picture of worry.

One by one the lights came on, the ground floor first then the second floor. When our bedroom light flashed on I held my breath. He was going to find it. What if he knew it was me?

"You know what? I think I left the window open, I bet he's gone in to check for bugs." The awful feeling looming over me became stronger as I lied to our son.

"So you don't freak out like you normally do!" Yoichi laughed, the worried look on his face transforming into a look of delight.

"Exactly." I smiled at him before returning my attention to the front door.

As Sasuke stepped back outside, multiple Anbu flashed into sight. One of them requested to inspect the scroll in his hand but Sasuke shook his head and asked them to leave. My heart started to race. If Sasuke believed that someone had been in our house again why would he send the Anbu away? There was only one answer, he must have figured out that it was me already. A wave of nausea hit me hard as Sasuke's eyes met mine. It could have just been my imagination but I could have sworn that he was looking at me the same way he did when we were in the middle of an argument, like he was trying to read my mind. I wanted to say something to him, like ask him what was going on so that I didn't look any more suspicious than I felt but I knew that the moment I opened my mouth an apology would come flying out, followed by a long explanation.

He was still staring at me when Yoichi spoke. "Are all the bugs gone now? I need to use the bathroom."

Without looking away from me for a second he told Yoichi to go inside. Each second that passed felt like an hour as we stood in silence.

"What's going on?" I managed to whisper, holding back tears.

He slowly crossed the space between us and grasped my face in his strong hands, he was trying to hold my gaze, to find an answer for something he didn't want to tell me about in my eyes but I couldn't look at him.

"Emi." he said, his voice so devoid of all emotion it sent shivers down my spine. "Look at me."

I tried to, I really did but with tears already blurring my vision I kept my eyes on the ground. Sasuke's hands fell away from my face and he watched me slink past him and into the house. He stood there for a while, stunned. He knew about the scroll but confronting me meant confronting the idea that I was betraying him and he just couldn't deal with that.

A/N Currently in the process of writing a very AU Sasuke fic. It just popped in to my head one day XD Will let you all know when the first chapter is up x
