authors note: Hi :-)

Sorry for the long delay AGAIN. I've been going through some stuff, a bad break up, and my macbook had to get fixed :-) but here I am!

It's been a wild two days for Sonic. Ever since he paid a special visit to Raven at her hotel suite, the two have been getting to know each other quite well. By that, they've been in constant physical contact. They were both getting what they wanted of course, someone to have sex with endlessly and not have to worry about feelings getting involved. Out of the few times the two would have deep conversations, they've opneded up to each other when it came to relationships.

Raven told Sonic that she had Sage to worry about, and unless she could find someone who could support them both, she rather dtay single. Sonic, on the other hand, mentioned Mina to Raven. He explained at how smitten he was of the single mother.

"I mean yeah I got a boner when I first saw her," he explained. "But after getting to know her more and more, she gives my heart a boner too, you know?"

The black feline cat stretched her naked body as she laid next blue hedgehog. "Well it sounds to me like you're really into her." She got from the bed, got dressed in a fluffy robe, and opened the door to check on Sage. "I'm the last person to go to for relationship advice or whatever, but it does seem like you really like her. Maybe you should go visit her at some point to see where things go between you two."

"Eventually," said Sonic as he sat up in bed. He walked around the room picking up pieces of his clothing to get himself dressed. As he slowly got himself together, Sonic couldn't help but to think of what the paternity results would be. it has been two days after all. He knew that Raven was aiming for Shadow to be the father, but Shadow still doesn't know what to think.

Sonic turned around after getting dressed to see Raven breast feeding Sage. He had to admit, he did feel bad for Raven. Sure, she's the one that cheated on Shadow, causing for them to be in the complicated situation. But he still felt all this was unfair to Sage. He still needs a father figure in his life.

"Hey," Sonic said. "Don't take this the wrong way, but what do you honestly think the results will say?" He made sure to ask as nicely as he can to not upset the feline. "After all, this is all for Sage to have a father in his life."

Raven sighed deeply. "I believe that Shadow is Sage's father. Until that test tells me otherwise, I'll still believe it. I can't change what already happened in the past."

"Fair enough." He went to leave the topic alone but then he thought of something. "Well, if it isn't Shadow," he said, "then who do you think it would be?"

Raven looked up at Sonic. It was safe to say that she was caught off guard with the sudden question. Sure, she had ideas of who else could possibly be Sage's father, but she didn't want to think about those possibilities. She had her mind set on Shadow being the father.

"I haven't put much thought into it, but I still think Shadow is the one. I mean, come on, the resemblance is uncanny."

The pair talked a bit more before Sonic left the feline and her son alone. Raven sat on her bed, taking a moment to herself since Sage was sound asleep. She sighed heavily and buried her face in her hands. She was completely stressed. The results will be ready soon, meaning she would have to face Shadow again. Hopefully knowing that he will announced the father of Sage. But if the odds aren't in her favor, she knew who she would have to turn to, and she didn't want that to happen. In her eyes, it would make everything more messier than it hs to be.

The black feline grabbed her phone and scrolled through her unread messages. She knew that sooner or later, she would have to come face to face with the issue at hand.

Back at Shadow's house, his pink girlfriend was drying her tears from a mental breakdown. Amy couldn't hide the fact that she was scared for the test results. The couple were seated on the couch of Shadow's living room. He had his arms wrapped around his lover as she relaxed into his arms.

"Rose, I promise you everything will be fine." He reassured her as he ran his fingers through her hair.

"I know I know," she said as she sat up. "Its just...what if it comes out that you are the father and she expects more from you than just being their for Sage? Didn't she mention something like that to you before?"

Shadow sighed. Raven did say something like that because of course she would. "Amy, don't think for a second I'm going to leave you for something like this. If anything I should be the one upset right now."

Amy wiped her tears away. "What do you mean by that?"

The ebony hedgehog grabbed her small hands are held them. "The fact that you are still even with me through all of this mess is a blessing, Rose. I love you too much to just let you go over all of this."

The pink hedgehog smiled as she hugged her boyfriend. Shadow embraced her tightly. "I promise everything is going to work out."

"I believe you," Amy replied as she looked up to her lover. "I'm sorry I got so emotional. It's just that this is all happening so quickly. Two days ago you both do the test and now we'll be finding out what the results are later today."

Shadow couldn't help but agree as he nodded his head. "It's all very overwhelming, but it's best to get things solved sooner than later."

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Shadow went up to answer the front door. "Oh hey Sonic," he greeted as he allowed the blue hedgehog inside.

"Hey guys," he greeted back as he made his way to living room and had a seat by Amy. "Sooo how are you both feeling? You know, with the results beinf ready today and all that."

"We were just talking about that actually," Amy said as she leaned back into the sofa. "I just want this whole thing to be over with."

Sonic nodded his head. "I bet. I actually saw Raven this morning. She seems pretty determined that you are the father, Shadow."

Shadow sighed heavily. "Of course she does. Everything will be brought to light today, I'm sure she's excited."

The blue hedgehog shrugged his shoulders. "Something like that."

Amy faced Sonic with a raised eyebrow. "What do you mean by that?"

"Well I asked her if Shadow didn't turn out to be the father, who else would it be. She seemed pretty hesitant at first, but she's still betting on Shadow being Sage's dad. I couldn't get much out of her but it seemed like something she's been thinking about for a while."

Shadow grabbed his car keys. "Well whatever the case is, let's get going then."

It was later in the evening, and Shadow and Amy were seated in the waiting room of the doctors office. Rouge came back with them, mainly for emtional support and to make sure things didn't pop off because of Raven.

"I wonder where she is?" questioned Shadow as he bounced his leg while he sat, clearly anxious. He looked around the office and out of the large windows to try and find his ex girlfriend.

"Calm down handsome," Rouge said as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Sonic texted me that he decided he would come here with Raven. They should be here any moment."

Amy cocked her head to the side with a face of confusion. "Sonic is bringing her here?"

The ivory bat nodded her head. "Yep. I mean they have been spending time together since she's been here, but he told me that she's actually been confiding in him about certain stuff."

"I wonder what that could be," the pink hedgehog replied.

Just as Shadow was about to say something, in walked Sonic and Raven with Sage bundled up in his stroller, soundly asleep. After checking in, the three made their way pver to the others. They noticed that Raven was visibly quite and not her usual loud and arrogant self. Instead of coming in hot and heavy with insults and low blows ready to go, she simply said a quite hello and sat down next to Sonic, clearly in deep thought as she watched her son sleep.

Rouge, who was seated on the left of Shadow, looked past him to make eye contact with Amy. The two knew that something was up. Shadow felt it too. He knew when Raven had things weighing heavy on her mind. She'll keep to herself and just try to deal with whatever she's going through by herself. Sonic signaled to Shadow to not say anything. He mouthed the words 'later' to his friends, as in not to say anything to upset the feline at this moment.

For the next ten minutes, the group sat quietly as patients and nurses made their way in and out of the waiting room. Suddenly a nurse came out and called for Shadow and Raven. The two made eye contact with each other before walking into the back with Sage. Once they were out of sight, Amy and Rouge looked right at Sonic.

"What the hell is going on?" questioned Rouge. "She was all big and bad just two days ago and now she's this timid person. Did something happen?"

Sonic was stuck. While he and the single mother spent time together, she told him things that she so desperately wanted to get off of her chest. Things that she couldn't speak to Shadow about, at least not yet. It's safe to say that the two actually formed a type of friendship. Raven trusted Sonic and was telling him sensitive things because she knew he had no room to judge. And he the same with her.

The blue hedgehog sighed as he dragged his hands down his face. He couldn't say anything yet. "Raven is just really stressed. She's been looking forward to this moment and now that it's finally here, I guess it's all coming at her fast, you know?"

Amy nodded her head. Of course, she didn't like Raven, even before they met. But it was clear that Raven was going through something rough, and this whole paternity test was making things worse for her. "Well," she started as she turned to Rouge. "Maybe when this is all said and done, I can try and talk to her."

Rouge would normally roll her eyes at the idea, but she knew that would probably be the best idea, even though Raven didn't make the best first impression with them. "I suppose so," she agreed. "Let's just wait and see."

Inside one of the patients room sat Shadow and Raven, with Sage now awake in his mothers arms. The two sat there, quite for the most part. Shadow felt the awkward tension in the room. He wanted to say something before the doctor came back to them.

"You know," he started as he looked around the room with his arms crossed. "I know there's something on your mind. It's not like you to be quite for so long."

Raven sighed and tried to get her thoughts together. "I...I just..." she sighed again, focusing on not trying to get too emotional. "I'm just stressed is all."

Her ex boyfriend raised his eyebrow. "Just stressed? Or is there something else to that?"

The black feline sat quite as her fluffy tail twitched, her anxiety clearly building up by the second. She had so much to say, but didn't even know where to begin. When she went to open her mouth to try and explain, that's when the doctor came. The grey older female hedgehog came in with a small smile on her face.

"Hello there, I'm back with the results," announced the doctor as she sat in the chair across from them. "Just so you are both aware, no matter what the results are, everything will be fine. I've had many couples come through here with this same situation, but things do get better. If it applies or helps you with your situation, there's information on co-parenting that I would be happy to give you."

The two nodded, both anxious as hell. The doctor opened up the results and read them over. She looked up at the couple, and then Sage. "I'm sorry, Ms. Raven, but unfortunately, Shadow isn't the father of your son."

It felt like someone had punched Raven. She slowly slumped back into her seat as she held her son close to her chest. Her mouth was open, but she couldn't get the words to come out. Slowly, one single tear rolled down her face.

Shadow sat there and sighed heavily. His thoughts were true about not being Sage's father, but he instantly felt guilty. He looked to his right to face Raven, who tried to hide her face. The doctor slowly got up and left to leave the two of them alone.

Once she was gone, Raven broke down in tears. And for the first time in a long time, Shadow pulled her into a hug and comforted her. "I'm sorry," she whispered as she continued to cry into his shoulder. Shadow rubbed her back, doing his best to calm her down.

Twenty minutes came and went, and out came Shadow, Raven, and Sage. The three friends looked up at them. Amy noticed that Raven's eyes were visibly red, and she watched as the mother and son quickly walked out of the building, resulting in Sonic to go after them.

Shadow came up to Amy and Rouge, who stood up to greet him. "I'm not the father," he said before they could question him.

His girlfriend sighed with relief and hugged him tightly. She looked up at him while still in his strong embrace. "Is she okay?"

He shook his head. "No. She wouldn't tell me anything." The two slipped out of their embrace and held each others hand, giving it a squeeze. "I know there's something up, but I don't want to drill her with questions right now. It wouldn't be right."

Rouge looked out the large window of the office and stared at Raven and Sonic. The feline still had tears falling down her cheeks as she held her baby while Sonic was doing his best to consul her and wipe the tears away. The bat decided to go outside to try and talk to the feline.

When Rouge stepped out, she heard Raven say, "I have to tell him. It's the right thing to do since he isn't Sage's dad." When the bat got close enough, she cleared her throat to make her presence known. "I wanted to speak to Raven, if that's okay."

Raven signaled to Sonic that it was okay to leave her alone. He went back inside to speak with Shadow and Amy.

"I know things started off pretty bad," Rouge started as he approached Raven. "But I'm hear to apologize. I'm sorry for how things between us immidately went sour, and I'm sorry for how you're feeling right now."

"I'm sorry too," Raven said. "And thank you," she sigh as she tried to keep her composure. "I just really thought Shadow would be Sage's father."

The bat nodded her head. "But it seems like you already have an idea of who it could be really be, huh?"

The ebony feline nodded her head sadly. "I just don't know how to tell Shadow."

This sparked interest in Rouge. 'It's someone Shadow knows, that's for sure.' she thought to herself. "Well how about this. Sonic can take you back to your hotel, you and Sage rest up, and maybe later today or tomorrow, Amy and I can stop by to talk. You can tell us everything before you speak to Shadow."

Raven nodded her head. She knew that eventually the truth would have to come out. "Let's do it."
