"We're not gonna make it, are we ?"

"I don't think so."

With that realization she turned around and cuddled into him as closely as possible. Reaching for his hand she cried silently into his chest, she was sure he could feel the wetness of her tears but in that moment she didn't care what he thought about it or how much vulnerability she was showing. In that moment her heart broke into a million little pieces and she was sure she would never get it patched up again.

The same moment he agreed to her words he knew he never would see the sun again, nothing would matter anymore. Now he finally understood the saying in all the romantic books: "dying of a broken heart", he couldn't feel anything anymore except that enormous loss while holding her still in his arms. He didn't even cared that his chest was all wet from the silent tears she was crying. He deeply wished he could make it better for her somehow, but his mind was blank and his heart only filled with sorrow and endless pain.

They lay like that the whole night, neither of them getting any sleep. Around midnight her tears dried up and with a part of the bedspread he wiped her cheeks dry. Nothing could ever change their feelings for each other, he would always love her with every fiber of his being and he was sure she felt the same but apparently sometimes that wasn't enough, sometimes there has to be more. But for the love of god in that moment he couldn't think of anything else except that endless black hole they gotten themself into.
