Chapter 26 -
"Um...my lord," A sixth year boy softly spoke as he approached Harry and his friends as they were sat in the common room, he had come straight towards Harry after entering the common room. "um...I'm...I'm terribly, terribly sorry to bother you but there appears to be a small child waiting outside of the common room, he said he wants to talk to you."
"Oh?" Harry raised an eyebrow. "This child, does he have brown hair, blue eyes and a temptingly pinch-able face? Quite adorable?"
"Um...yes, my lord." The sixth year nodded. "He is quite adorable, reminds me a little of my little brother."
"How old is your brother?" Harry asked in an interested voice.
"He's three and a half, my lord." The sixth year said with a small grin.
"Hmm, show the boy in." Harry told him. "Treat him nicely."
"Yes, my lord." The sixth year nodded, he was about to turn and walk away but was stopped by Harry.
"Wait a sec," Harry said before he clicked his fingers and a bag of coins appeared, Harry tossed it to the sixth year who dumbly caught it. "it's a small bag but there is an expansion charm on it, inside is about a hundred galleons, go and buy your brother something, keep the change as a reward for not being an idiot."
"T...thank you, my lord." The sixth year breathed, as he peaked inside the bag and saw a bunch of galleons. He quickly closed it and nodded to Harry before he rushed off to go and fetch the boy.
"You know, sometimes I think you're the scariest person alive." Pansy admitted, "But other times I feel like you're the nicest." she added.
"I'm not a good guy, I'm not a bad guy, I'm just me." Harry told her, a second or two later Rowan entered the room.
"Harry!" He grinned and rushed over to Harry who easily picked him up and placed the boy on his lap once he was close enough. "It's nice to see you! Oh, is this where you live?" He asked as he looked around.
"Only when I want to." Harry nodded. "Where's your dad?" Harry asked.
"He's in his classroom and he is working." Rowan answered, still looking around the room.
"Where's your mother?" Harry asked.
"She's sleeping." Rowan answered. "So I came to play with you!" Rowan said happily before he paused and frowned. "Oh, I forgot my book."
"I'm sorry, but who is this kid?" Draco asked.
"He's Professor Lupin's son." Harry answered as he casually waved his hand and a second later Rowan's book landed in his hand.
"Yay!" Rowan cheered before he opened it and turned to Harry. "Do you want me to read it for you?" He offered.
"Give me a sec, buddy." Harry said before he held up one finger. The tip of Harry's finger split, a second later a small, black, oval shaped head popped out. It was quickly followed by the rest of the head's body. Harry's finger closed as a fly was now perched on the tip. "Go and watch the mother then let me know when she wakes up." Harry told the fly, it buzzed before it took off into the air and flew away.
"That's cool!" Rowan grinned. "Can you teach me how to do that?" He asked in a hopeful voice.
"Of course I won't," Harry replied. "now read the damn book."
Rowan gave him a small glare before he turned his head back to the book and began reading, he didn't really appear to have notice that everyone in the room was now looking at him. Most of the attention came from the fact that watching Harry Potter sit still and silently listen to a child read a book like an indulgent parent was a weird sight and not one they had ever expected to see.
"Did you like it?" Rowan asked once he was done.
"It was very good kid," Harry said just before his fly returned, it flew straight towards Harry and then it went into his ear and it seemed like it wasn't going to come back out. "alright, time to take you back to your mother." Harry said as he stood up, holding Rowan by the waist.
"But I wanna stay!" Rowan protested.
"Your mother is going to be upset when she realises that you're not in her room," Harry told him. "you've got a whole year to visit me. Don't worry kid, we'll have plenty of time to play." Harry responded, he gave a nod to everyone else before he turned and walked out of the common room.
"Promise?" Rowan asked as Harry carried him while walking to the suite that they were staying in.
"Promise." Harry responded. "But next time let your parents know if you're going anywhere, you're too young to go walking around this castle by yourself. It's quite frankly impressive that you managed to find me at all."
"I followed one boy, he was wearing green like you so I thought he'd be in the same place as you." Rowan replied.
"Clever." Harry smirked. The two gained a few odd looks as they walked through the hallways but most people didn't say anything. Though one person did when Harry turned a corner when he was near Sarah's room, he quickly stopped but had almost run into none other than Miss Hermione Granger.
"I...why do you have a child with you?" She blinked as she looked at Rowan.
"Well, I was feeling a bit sick this morning and I ended up coughing up a large egg, then this little boy popped out of it." Harry said in a sarcastic voice that caused Rowan to giggle. "This is Professor Lupin's child, he was wondering around the castle and got lost, I'm taking him back to his parents."
"Hmm," Hermione hummed as she looked between the two. "I can do it if you want." She offered.
"That's fine, I've got him." Harry waved her off.
"Why is your hair all bushy?" Rowan suddenly asked Hermione. "Don't you wash it?" He asked, not rudely, or at least not intending to be rude.
"I do wash it." She said, giving him a small glare.
"Well...it was an experience seeing you again, Granger." Harry nodded to her before he walked past her and continued walking to Sarah's room.
Harry and his friends/minions/sex buddies were currently in Professor Lupin's first defence against the dark arts class. So far Harry was rather satisfied with how his classes had been going this year, a great example was ancient runes, the teacher was smart and knew what she was doing, and was surprisingly limber. Another good - but admittedly far less attractive - example was Hagrid, who was not by any means the best teacher but he was quite knowledgeable about magical creatures and clearly had a passion for the subject.
The other day he had introduced Harry's class to hippogriffs. Harry had two different feelings about this, on the one hippogriffs were beautiful and amazing magical creatures, on the other hand they were not exactly the safest thing to start a new bunch of inexperienced students with. Thankfully nothing bad had happened but something easily could have which was why Harry had decided he would later speak to Professor McGonagall and Hagrid about improving the large man's lessons.
Harry knew that many did not like Hagrid because he was quite clearly not a pureblood and most believed that the man probably had some giant or creature blood. Personally Harry didn't really care about the man's parents, Harry was not unaware of the man's flaws but he was still a good man.
"Alright class," Professor Lupin spoke as he stepped in front of a shaking cupboard. "can anybody tell me what's in there?" He asked.
"Sir, is that a boggart?" A Gryffindor, Dean Thomas, asked.
"Indeed it is," Professor Lupin nodded with a smile. "can anyone tell me what a boggart looks like?" He asked.
"Nobody knows." Hermione Granger quickly spoke up. "Boggarts are shape shifters and take the form of whatever a person fears the most."
"Exactly," Professor Lupin nodded. "that's what makes them so terrifying. There is a rather simple spell that will help you defeat a boggart. The incantation is 'Riddikulus', can everyone repeat that for me please? 'Riddikulus'." He said once more, the class chanted it back to him before he continued speaking. "That's good, but remember that you need more than just the incantation. You will have to want to turn the boggart into something that you find amusing, if you cannot destroy it then there is no better way to defeat a creature of fear than by laughing at it. Now, how about a volunteer? Hmm, Mr Longbottom, step forwards." He said. Neville Longbottom, the infamously shy Gryffindor, nervously stepped forward, a few of his classmates whispered but became silent as Professor Lupin stepped in front of Neville. "Hello," He said in a kind voice. "now Neville, tell me, what scares you most of all?"
"Pr... Sn..." Neville mumbled under his breath.
"I beg your pardon?" Professor Lupin asked.
"Professor Snape." Neville answered, this time loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Professor Snape," Professor Lupin repeated in an amused voice as many people students laughed in the back. Harry had an amused smile but he was mostly disgusted by how much Snape was allowed to get away with, he was so very tempted to just find and gut Snape, unfortunately the man still had time before Harry would get to him. "yes, he frightens all. Now, I do believe that you live with your grandmother, is that correct?" He asked.
"Yes sir." Neville nodded.
"Great," Professor Lupin grinned as he stepped next to Neville. "here's what I want you to do." He said before he leaned down and whispered something into Neville's ear. "Can you do that for me?" Professor Lupin asked once he was done whispering.
"I...I think so." Neville nodded, gulping slightly.
"Good boy." Professor Lupin said before he aimed his wand at the cupboard. "Wand at the ready, Neville." He said as he stepped behind Neville who was now the closest to the boggart cupboard which had actually stopped shaking, almost like the boggart could sense that it would eventually be freed.
"Yes sir." Neville nodded once more as he pulled out his wand.
Professor Lupin flicked his wand and the cupboard door opened, a pale hand reached out from within and grabbed the door. A second later the rest of it came out, and the class watched as the boggart version of Professor Snape was glaring at Neville like he wanted nothing more than to cut Neville up and make him into potions ingredients.
"Go on, Neville, you can do it." Professor Lupin said encouragingly.
"R...Riddikulus!" Neville shouted as he jabbed his wand at the boggart. The boggart took a step back as if pushed and was suddenly now wearing the same clothes as Neville's grandmother, everyone laughed at the sight of Professor Snape wearing a green dress, holding a red handbag and wearing a hat with a vulture on it, the best part was debatably the fact the boggart version of Snape was half-way between glaring at Neville and being beyond confused about how it got into this situation.
"Wonderful Neville!" Professor Lupin clapped. "Wonderful! Now back of the class with you, everybody else form a line." He said.
The student all formed a line while Neville went into the back, one by one the students went to face their boggart. The boggart took many forms such as clowns, spiders, zombies and so on. Soon though it was nearly Harry's turn.
"Hey," Isabella looked over her shoulder and whispered to Draco who was stood behind her. "I bet you ten galleons that Harry doesn't even have a worst fear."
"Every smart part of me wants me to say 'no'…..but I'm rich so it's fine, I accept." Draco whispered back to her.
The boggart, which was currently in the shape of a clown puppet that was rocking back and forth, stopped when Harry came in front of it. The room had gone silent for a long moment, a moment which was eventually broken by a loud shriek, a shriek which came from none other than the boggart. The boggart changed shape into a bird and quickly flew back into the cupboard, once it was out of sight and hidden by the shadows it had clearly transformed again since a human hand shot out from the shadows and grabbed the door before slamming it shut.
"In retrospect I probably should have just gone last." Harry said with a small shake of his head.
"I bet you everyone's going to be talking about this!" Isabella laughed as she and the other Slytherin's were at in the common room after their lessons had finished. "You're boggart actually ran from you!"
"You seem quite happy." Blaise noted.
"Of course she is," Daphne snorted. "three of her favourite things happened today."
"What three?" Blaise asked.
"Well, one of which is the fact that she got to watch Harry be amazing."
"She does like that." Theo agreed.
"The second being the fact that she got to get more money today."
"That would make anyone happy." Pansy nodded.
"Thirdly she managed to once again prove that Draco is an idiot." Daphne added.
"That is one of her favourite things," Tracey hummed. "what happened?"
"Oh, he bet against Harry in class today when Isabella said he wouldn't have a fear." Daphne replied.
"Betting against Harry? That is very idiotic." Pansy frowned as she looked at Draco.
"Yes, I know, the ten galleons I lost made that very clear." Draco said as he rolled his eyes.
"Um...my lord," A sixth year - the same sixth year who had earlier informed him of Rowan's arrival - approached. "um...the kid is outside again and wants to come in."
"Again?" Tracey blinked.
"Let him in." Harry responded.
"Of course," The sixth year nodded. "...but before I do..." He trailed off and held his hand out with a hopeful expression. Harry gave him a long, blank look before he replied.
"Don't get greedy, you little shit."
"Fair enough." The boy nodded before he quickly turned and walked away.
