46: Wake Me Up

I followed the sound of chatter through the burning building. I came across a room where I noticed a girl standing with her back facing me. She stood in flames, hindering me of fully identifying her.

"This is nice, such a healthy vessel" The girl exhaled deeply, closing her eyes, taking in the moment. "Ahh, I breathe life once again"

What the fuck? Breathe life? Is that- "Nina?"

The girl turned and laid her eyes on me. I was right.

Evil laughter rang through my ears. "I believe you're referring to someone else, handsome. Although, Ill go on and adopt that name. Majetek...Nina...not so bad"

"Noo fuckin way..." I muttered.

The woman let out a sinister giggle.

"Jay...Jay!"

"Who are you?" I asked.

"Jay, wake up!" Morrigan pleaded.

My vision grew brighter and I seen myself in our bedroom.

"Who was who? Babe, what's the matter?"

"Shit! Not again. Another dream. I seen this woman who looked like Nina but isn't"

"My, she must be unfriendly, what happened?"

"I don't know how to explain it. Fuck. I need to check on Nina" I pulled off the sheets and started to escape the bed until Morrigan grabbed my arm.

"Babe, its fine, Father would have already alerted everyone. Come here, rest"

She brought my head to lie on her chest. Her breathing and soft chest comforted me. She brought her fingers to my head, running them through my hair. I grew relaxed again and everything faded.

^V^

My eyes opened and I looked around me. Morrigan had left the bedroom...

I went downstairs to the extra room Morrigan had added for me. I studied Nina's body. She floated gracefully in her aqua pod I'd made for her, keeping her perfectly in shape for the funeral.

"Majetek..." I muttered.

I walked over to the other section of the room near the gadgets and flatscreens. I pressed a power button and the room grew illuminated with blue.

Now onto you

My eyes stared at a picture of Demitri.

"What can I do that you cant?" I asked.

"Rule the Makai" Morrigan answered.

A smirk grew on my face. Morrigan sat on the table next to me.

"Doing a little compare and contrast huh? What do you need to know?" She asked.

"Anything. Majority, his weaknesses"

"Ahh, Demitri's not your everyday vampire, still, sunlight has its wrath on him..."

I typed portions of her answer into my data files on Dracula.

"I've used blood to lure him out so many times", she chuckled. "He's a real sucker for blood..."

'Blood'

"You two do have your arrogance, for gods sake so do I. But Demitri's is greater than ours. Its been his downfall so many times...Overconfidence isn't a friend in battle"

My fingers typed in all three essential elements I needed.

"Nice, I can work with all that"

"As for you?" She asked, gazing at me.

"What you mean?"

"Your own weakness" she replied.

"I dont think I have any, or at least no one else discovered it yet"

"You'll find it if it exists, I have to protect you as well ya' know"

"True, Lucien and Mudo told me I should look more within myself..."

"Wow, you two talk?" Morrigan asked with a smile, acting astonished.

"Shut up"

I focused my thoughts.

"Got it"

I summoned my morphonite on my left index and cut a piece of my skin off from my arm. The pain made me grind my teeth.

"Fuuuuck"

I placed the tissue on a dish. I quickly turned my finger into a needle. I drained out a bit of my blood. The wound healed just as I finished.

I put my flesh under a microscope. I zoomed in and studied. Microscopic blue orbs were buried in my skin.

'What the?'

I moved the plate and replaced it with my blood.

I peered through the lenses. My blood cells were each joined with some other ball. They were blue as well.

"Morrigan...remember when we fell into Q-Bee's lair and you noticed how my suit had its blue-ish glow?"

"I do"

"Do me a favor and press that power button beside you"

Morrigan hit it and the rooms blue illumination disappeared. The room was pure darkness. Then my blood sample did just as I thought. It shined blue.

"Woah" Morrigan said. "Look at that"

A huge smile spread on my face.

"Shit, that explains so much...this is just the start of something. I know it"

"My senses never disappoint" Morrigan said with a smirk.

^V^

The afternoon had arrived. We returned to Malibu. Morrigan went to visit the girls. I stayed home to transfer my research, and to finish up my studies. A notification hit my phone.

'Asha - Hey, I have some new intel. Its regarding Pitch'

'Alright, hit my place asap. Come to basement door'

I sat at the keyboard in my lab room. Thoughts ran through my mind again.

Who am I? Does mom or dad know this and never told me? Where am I from? Morrigan probably thinks the same thing"

I looked over to Ninas body. "Nothings gonna be the same without the whole gang"

Flashes of having to save her from Bishamon struck my mind...

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

I opened the door.

"Hey, how's things been?" I asked. She followed me into the lab room.

"I've been okay. Wow, how long has she been here?" Asha asked, fixed on the girl in the aqua pod.

I sat back in my chair. "I just brung her here from the Makai. So, whats the new intel?" I asked, quickly changing the topic.

Asha glanced at me. She sat on a stool beside me.

"Its about Pitch. I found out about his secret lair. I thought you could find that useful"

"Yeah, let me see"

She placed a drive into my hand. I plugged it into the system. My AI accepted the information. "New Data Import Received. Analyzing File"

The screen then loaded a bio of Trint. My eyes wandered right to his whereabouts.

Asha projected a video from her wrist watch.

"Look. He's been moving in and out of this vacant building for a while now. He only moves at nighttime. Probably sleeps the day away"

"Of course a construction site. I wonder what he's been up to"

"Invite yourself in and find out"

"Agreed. Being allied with a spy has its perks I see"

Asha smiled. "I got your back, after all, you're the reason Im still breathing. Well, let me know if you need anything else"

I thought about what but my mind was blank... then I remembered my dna.

"I did a dna test on myself earlier. I found out some weird info. You think you can examine it further for me? Two heads are better than one"

"Sure"

I then pulled out my blood sample and microscopes from earlier.

Asha watched with a puzzled expression. "Is that a piece of skin?"

I studied her expression finding her look of disgust somewhat funny.

I chuckled. "...Yea"

"Anyway, where do we start?"

"Check out the tissue under the scope"

Asha did. She zoomed in and out.

"Besides the white and red blood cells, these blue cells are interesting. Have you confirmed what they are?"

"So far I just know that the blue cells are light" I said with a shrug.

"Lets put them together" Asha said as she peered the microscope.

Asha and I extracted all the blue cells and put them on a seperate tray. Miraculously, they all pulled each other together forming a small sphere. It was weird because once they joined the sphere hovered and was now a ball of blue light.

I know a regular person would think of this as the most bizarre shit ever. But come to think of it, who else can do something like this? I wanted to tell Cain about this immediately but I know his reaction wouldnt be what I'd wish. I'd only make him more jealous of me.

My eyes watched the ball float in amazement.

"What...are you?" Asha asked with a confused expression.

I chuckled. "Im still finding out"

"Wait...that's a ball of light...and a ball of light is usually a star...right? So could this be some type of sign?"

Asha's theory made me think. I dont know what I am, or where my dna is from. I search in myself and find my cells to create a ball of light which Asha wonders if it could be a star...fuck this is weird. Could this be a sign?

^V^

"A star?" Morrigan asked. "How could that be?"

"I got no clue. Thats what we came up with. I'll still be digging deeper though"

"Do so, I'm thirsty for ans-"

"Shh!" I placed my index over Morrigans lips.

I heard a faint yell. We were at Trints hideout and were staking out for him. We sat high up on the steel frames of the building. I peered down below.

Where are you? I know youre near...

Morrigan pointed at something in my peripheral. "Look" she whispered.

My focus wandered to where she was talking about. I then saw an object falling down the site. I looked up to see where it fell from.

A contempt grin spread on my face. I got up from our position and moved in.

"Come on" I whispered to the succubus. She followed.

Now right outside his space, I looked over at Morrigan. "You got my back?"

She nodded.

I smiled and climbed through the window.

The place was actually not how'd I imagine it to look. For my first villains lair to sneak into, this wasnt so bad. A scent of oranges roamed the air. The room I was in was illuminated by a lamp standing in one corner. Around me were newspapers stacked on a table and a picture of Trints dad, Kint up on the walls. Along the walls were also one of him, Kint and his mom.

I stood at the exit of the room, peeking down the hall. The floors were wooden and covered in the middle by a long orange and black carpet. Candlelights kept the long hall lit. I made my way down the hall. Silence filled my ears making me cautious. I reached the end of the hall to see a spiral staircase lead down into a large living room. Trint stood at a balcony window with a glass in his hand and sipped. He wore beige slacks, a black dress shirt and black dress shoes. I wondered what luxurious places he leaves out to.

"Why'd it have to come down to this?" Trint asked himself.

"Because you're taking the wrong path" I answered him.

I jumped off the staircase ledge and engaged flight mode just to make my landing a bit more flashy. Trint watched me through the windows reflection.

"Invité non invité, what brings you here?"

He turned around and sat the glass on the counter beside him. Then I noticed the dark morphonite gadget he wore guised as a chain.

"First off, mes excuses, but I simply had an offer-"

"An offer?" He asked, eyeing me suspiciously.

"My original suit, a gift to mend this toxin between us...We dont need to be this way"

"Shut up!" Trint outbursted. "You come here offering the one thing that already belongs to me? What honor would I give my fathers death by taking ownership of what he already possessed?" He asked. By his tone I knew I aggravated him.

I sighed. "Trint, I'm not here to be your enemy. I have already- a lot on my hands. As a young kid, I was told how Kint passed. His own defected work on his jet took his life on a flight test. Our fathers were best of friends out of the entire airforce. My dad cried tears telling me this. He hoped putting me in the same classes as you would repeat that same friendship Kint and my dad had. I guess he was wrong"

Trint stared at a picture of his dad on the wall. I noticed his eyes grew watery when he turned to face me. "Then what explains the suit?"

"My dad showed me in his garage how he merged his ideas and Kints together. He swore on his life he wouldnt let a tragedy like that happen again. It was his way of honoring his death also. Eversince, the fighter jets have never had any incidents. As for my suit, I just used our dads knowledge to create something different"

Trints fingers curled into a fist.

"Why? Why me? Why my dad?" Trint sobbed. I stepped closer and pressed a hand on his shoulder.

"I've been living a lie...Jay, I'm sorry" Trint then fell to his knees.

"Its okay, I'm here for you man" I said patting him on the back.

"NO!" Trint yelled. Holding his head, he yelled again. "Noo, get out of my head!"

I was searching for an explanation to his spazzing. Suddenly, I noticed a glowing green light through his dress shirt.

"GET AWAY FROM MEE!" Trint yelled to me. His eyes glowed a light green. I was so busy pondering what was going on that I didn't notice I crashed into the wall from the force when he pushed me away. I got up.

"Whats happening to him?" I heard Morrigan ask somewhere close. I looked to see her enter through the balcony window.

We watched as Trint was on all fours panting. Suddenly the chain on his neck expanded and stretched across his body.

"He told you to leave, now its too late" Trint said in a malevolent tone. He stood, now completely in his morphonite.

"What did you do to him?" Morrigan asked Pitch.

"The same I'll do to you- HAAH!"

Pitch then burst out two black spheres at Morrigan. They came so fast that Morrigan was able to dodge one. The other hit her wrist, sending her onto the wall, pinning her. "Ugh!"

Shit!

I ran towards Trint and sent a fist to his face. He blocked it and jabbed me in my ribs. Following up, he kicked me in the chest sending me flying into the staircase.

Fuck, whats wrong with him? I slowly got back up to my feet.

"Soul fist!"

Pitch looked towards the Makai girl and blocked the shot. It sent him sliding back. He then bolted towards her.

Trint wasn't like this before, this strength, his speed. It has to be something else...his energy. Its that artificial heart!

"Morrigan, the green core!"

Morrigan glanced at me as she clashed with the mind-gone Trint.

"You're an energetic play thing why aren't you?" Morrigan asked as she dashed towards our enemy. Bats then appeared around her legs and formed into a rotating drill. Before Pitch could react, I teleported. I kicked him in the back of his leg putting him on a knee. Afterwards, I quickly put him in a choke hold.

"Jay! Move!" Morrigan yelled.

"Trust me! Just do it!"

Morrigan then descended at full speed into us.

"Save me" I heard Trint mutter.

Before I could think twice about what I heard, a surge of pain struck my chest. I felt myself falling. I squinted open my eyes, Pitch was falling a few feet above me. Up ahead I saw Morrigan flying in the nightsky towards us. I felt my body hit a hard surface. Then my vision went blank.
