Skye POV

A few hours later, Skye went to check on Violet. This time, she was up and she was reading.

"You have a nice nap there?" Skye asked.

"Yep!" Violet replied, not looking up from her book.

Her voice sounded a little off, but Skye couldn't place exactly what was wrong with it.

"Do you want to continue our game?" She asked.

"No thanks."

Skye was surprised, the little girl always seemed up for a game.

"You okay?" Skye asked, running her fingers through her hair.

"I'm okay," Violet replied, still not looking up from her book.

"Let me see your face."

She reluctantly removed her book from her face and Skye gasped.

"You're so pale!" She exclaimed, "Are you sure you're feeling alright?"

"I feel fine," Violet said, blocking her face with her book again.

Her voice was kind of congested, Skye realized, almost raspy.

"Let me feel your forehead."

"No!" The little girl protested, squirming out of reach.

"Come on, Violet!"

The girl finally relented. Skye felt her forehead and immediately took her hand off her head.

"You're burning up!" She exclaimed.

Violet looked up at her.

"Why are you worried about me?"

Skye was confused.

"Why wouldn't I be worried about you?" She asked, "You're sick."

"Nobody cared when I was sick before I was saved."

Skye's heart broke a little. How could no one care when a little girl was sick? It seemed that no one had a heart in Hydra. That is, except for Ward.

She decided not to think about him right then. She had to take care of Violet.

"Why don't you get into your pajama's and I'll make you some soup?"

The girl pondered it for a moment.

"Soup sounds nice," She replied.

She coughed. Skye looked at her sympathetically.

"I'll go make you some soup while you change into your pajamas."

"Okay."

Skye went into the kitchen and began to make soup. As soon as she smelled the soup, she ran to the bathroom and threw up.

"Ugh!" She exclaimed, running her fingers through her hair.

"Only a few more months of this," She told herself.

She cleaned up her mess and went back to the kitchen. She finished making the soup, poured it into a bowl and gave it to Violet, who had finished changing clothes and was now in bed.

"Thank you," She croaked.

She began to eat. Skye left while she ate. She sat down on the couch and thought about what she was going to do. She couldn't imagine giving up her baby. She also couldn't imagine being a mother. She would have to go to the doctor soon so she could make sure the baby was healthy. Oh, God. What if the baby wasn't healthy? What if the baby was crippled or had some strange syndrome or if it was dying? Skye pushed these thoughts away. She couldn't think like that. She would schedule an appointment for her doctor today. She took out her phone and called the doctor's office.
